تَنكِحُوا۟ tankiḥū
[you] marry V
ٱلْمُشْرِكَٰتِ l-mush'rikāti
[the] polytheistic women Noun
حَتَّىٰ ḥattā
until Prep
يُؤْمِنَّ yu'minna
they believe V
وَلَأَمَةٌ wala-amatun
And a bondwoman Noun
مُّؤْمِنَةٌ mu'minatun
(who is) believing Noun
خَيْرٌ khayrun
(is) better Noun
مِّن min
than Prep
مُّشْرِكَةٍ mush'rikatin
a polytheistic woman Noun
وَلَوْ walaw
[and] even if Prep
أَعْجَبَتْكُمْ aʿjabatkum
she pleases you V
وَلَا walā
And (do) not Prep
تُنكِحُوا۟ tunkiḥū
give in marriage (your women) V
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ l-mush'rikīna
(to) [the] polytheistic men Noun
حَتَّىٰ ḥattā
until Prep
يُؤْمِنُوا۟ yu'minū
they believe V
وَلَعَبْدٌ walaʿabdun
and a bondman Noun
مُّؤْمِنٌ mu'minun
(who is) believing Noun
خَيْرٌ khayrun
(is) better Noun
مِّن min
than Prep
مُّشْرِكٍ mush'rikin
a polytheistic man Noun
وَلَوْ walaw
[and] even if Prep
أَعْجَبَكُمْ aʿjabakum
he pleases you V
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ulāika
[Those] Noun
يَدْعُونَ yadʿūna
they invite V
إِلَى ilā
to Prep
ٱلنَّارِ l-nāri
the Fire Noun
وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu
and Allah Noun
يَدْعُوٓا۟ yadʿū
invites V
إِلَى ilā
to Prep
ٱلْجَنَّةِ l-janati
Paradise Noun
وَٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ wal-maghfirati
and [the] forgiveness Noun
بِإِذْنِهِۦ bi-idh'nihi
by His permission Noun
وَيُبَيِّنُ wayubayyinu
And He makes clear V
ءَايَٰتِهِۦ āyātihi
His Verses Noun
لِلنَّاسِ lilnnāsi
for the people Noun
لَعَلَّهُمْ laʿallahum
so that they may Prep
يَتَذَكَّرُونَ yatadhakkarūna
take heed V

Do not marry idolatresses until they believe: a believing slave woman is certainly better than an idolatress, even though she may please you. And do not give your women in marriage to idolaters until they believe: a believing slave is certainly better than an idolater, even though he may please you. Such people call [you] to the Fire, while God calls [you] to the Garden and forgiveness by His leave. He makes His messages clear to people, so that they may bear them in mind

Arabic Text

وَلَا تَنكِحُوا۟ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكَـٰتِ حَتَّىٰ یُؤۡمِنَّۚ وَلَأَمَةࣱ مُّؤۡمِنَةٌ خَیۡرࣱ مِّن مُّشۡرِكَةࣲ وَلَوۡ أَعۡجَبَتۡكُمۡۗ وَلَا تُنكِحُوا۟ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ حَتَّىٰ یُؤۡمِنُوا۟ۚ وَلَعَبۡدࣱ مُّؤۡمِنٌ خَیۡرࣱ مِّن مُّشۡرِكࣲ وَلَوۡ أَعۡجَبَكُمۡۗ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ یَدۡعُونَ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِۖ وَٱللَّهُ یَدۡعُوۤا۟ إِلَى ٱلۡجَنَّةِ وَٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِ بِإِذۡنِهِۦۖ وَیُبَیِّنُ ءَایَـٰتِهِۦ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَتَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٢٢١

walā tankiḥū l-mush'rikāti ḥattā yu'minna wala-amatun mu'minatun khayrun min mush'rikatin walaw aʿjabatkum walā tunkiḥū l-mush'rikīna ḥattā yu'minū walaʿabdun mu'minun khayrun min mush'rikin walaw aʿjabakum ulāika yadʿūna ilā l-nāri wal-lahu yadʿū ilā l-janati wal-maghfirati bi-idh'nihi wayubayyinu āyātihi lilnnāsi laʿallahum yatadhakkarūn
