Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers — Munirmezyed2023 Translation – Parallel Quran

1 Unity will prevail

وَٱلصَّـٰۤفَّـٰتِ صَفࣰّا ۝١

MunirMezyed2023

By those (Angels) who stand in ranks,

wal-ṣāfāti ṣaffa

فَٱلزَّ ٰجِرَ ٰتِ زَجۡرࣰا ۝٢

MunirMezyed2023

Then by those (Angels) who drive (the clouds) robustly,

fal-zājirāti zajra

فَٱلتَّـٰلِیَـٰتِ ذِكۡرًا ۝٣

MunirMezyed2023

Then by those (Angels) who recite the Verses (of the Qur’ān),

fal-tāliyāti dhik'ra

إِنَّ إِلَـٰهَكُمۡ لَوَ ٰحِدࣱ ۝٤

MunirMezyed2023

Your Lord is One and Absolutely Unique.

inna ilāhakum lawāḥidu

رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَشَـٰرِقِ ۝٥

The Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. And the Lord of the Eastern regions.

rabbu l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wamā baynahumā warabbu l-mashāriq

إِنَّا زَیَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ ٱلدُّنۡیَا بِزِینَةٍ ٱلۡكَوَاكِبِ ۝٦

Surely We have embellished the lower heaven with planets,

innā zayyannā l-samāa l-dun'yā bizīnatin l-kawākib

وَحِفۡظࣰا مِّن كُلِّ شَیۡطَـٰنࣲ مَّارِدࣲ ۝٧

MunirMezyed2023

Protecting it from every rebellious devil,

waḥif'ẓan min kulli shayṭānin māridi

لَّا یَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡمَلَإِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ وَیُقۡذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبࣲ ۝٨

They cannot listen to the exalted assembly for they are pelted from every side,

lā yassammaʿūna ilā l-mala-i l-aʿlā wayuq'dhafūna min kulli jānibi

دُحُورࣰاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابࣱ وَاصِبٌ ۝٩

Driven away, and theirs is an everlasting torment.

duḥūran walahum ʿadhābun wāṣibu

إِلَّا مَنۡ خَطِفَ ٱلۡخَطۡفَةَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابࣱ ثَاقِبࣱ ۝١٠

But whoever manages to stealthily snatch a word (from the heavens) is pursued by a piercing flame.

illā man khaṭifa l-khaṭfata fa-atbaʿahu shihābun thāqibu

فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَهُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَم مَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَاۤۚ إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَـٰهُم مِّن طِینࣲ لَّازِبِۭ ۝١١

Then ask them: "Are they stronger as creation, or those (others) whom We have created?”. Surely We created them of a high viscosity clay.

fa-is'taftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqnā innā khalaqnāhum min ṭīnin lāzibi

بَلۡ عَجِبۡتَ وَیَسۡخَرُونَ ۝١٢

Nay! You are amazed (by their persistent and purposeful denial of Resurrection), while they poke fun (at you).

bal ʿajib'ta wayaskharūn

وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا یَذۡكُرُونَ ۝١٣

MunirMezyed2023

And when they are admonished, they pay no heed.

wa-idhā dhukkirū lā yadhkurūn

وَإِذَا رَأَوۡا۟ ءَایَةࣰ یَسۡتَسۡخِرُونَ ۝١٤

MunirMezyed2023

And when they see a Sign, they make it an object of ridicule,

wa-idhā ra-aw āyatan yastaskhirūn

وَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا سِحۡرࣱ مُّبِینٌ ۝١٥

MunirMezyed2023

Saying: “This is nothing but an apparent sorcery (& devilry).

waqālū in hādhā illā siḥ'run mubīnu

أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ ۝١٦

What! When we are dead and reduced to dust and bones, will we truly be resurrected?

a-idhā mit'nā wakunnā turāban waʿiẓāman a-innā lamabʿūthūn

أَوَ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ ۝١٧

What, even our forefathers in former times?”

awaābāunā l-awalūn

قُلۡ نَعَمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ دَ ٰخِرُونَ ۝١٨

MunirMezyed2023

Say (to them): “Yea, and you will be completely demeaned.”

qul naʿam wa-antum dākhirūn

فَإِنَّمَا هِیَ زَجۡرَةࣱ وَ ٰحِدَةࣱ فَإِذَا هُمۡ یَنظُرُونَ ۝١٩

So it will be but one Cry, then behold, they are contemplating.

fa-innamā hiya zajratun wāḥidatun fa-idhā hum yanẓurūn

وَقَالُوا۟ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَا هَـٰذَا یَوۡمُ ٱلدِّینِ ۝٢٠

They will say: "Woe betide us! This is the Day of Judgment."

waqālū yāwaylanā hādhā yawmu l-dīn

هَـٰذَا یَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ ٱلَّذِی كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٢١

MunirMezyed2023

(They will be told): “This is the Decisive Day which you were inclined to deny ”.

hādhā yawmu l-faṣli alladhī kuntum bihi tukadhibūn

2 The Judgment

۞ ٱحۡشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزۡوَ ٰجَهُمۡ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٢٢

Assemble all those who voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims along with their peers and what they were inclined to worship,

uḥ'shurū alladhīna ẓalamū wa-azwājahum wamā kānū yaʿbudūn

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهۡدُوهُمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٢٣

Besides Allâh, then lead them to the way to Gehenna.

min dūni l-lahi fa-ih'dūhum ilā ṣirāṭi l-jaḥīm

وَقِفُوهُمۡۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسۡءُولُونَ ۝٢٤

Stop them! Indeed, they are to be questioned.

waqifūhum innahum masūlūn

مَا لَكُمۡ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ ۝٢٥

What is wrong with you? Why do you not help each other?

mā lakum lā tanāṣarūn

بَلۡ هُمُ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ مُسۡتَسۡلِمُونَ ۝٢٦

MunirMezyed2023

In fact, on that day, they will be totally submissive (and helpless).

bal humu l-yawma mus'taslimūn

وَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ یَتَسَاۤءَلُونَ ۝٢٧

They will approach one another, casting blame,

wa-aqbala baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin yatasāalūn

قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَأۡتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلۡیَمِینِ ۝٢٨

Saying: "It was you who used to come to us from the right hand”.

qālū innakum kuntum tatūnanā ʿani l-yamīn

قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمۡ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٢٩

MunirMezyed2023

They shall reply: “Nay, but you had no tendency to live by Faith.

qālū bal lam takūnū mu'minīn

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَیۡكُم مِّن سُلۡطَـٰنِۭۖ بَلۡ كُنتُمۡ قَوۡمࣰا طَـٰغِینَ ۝٣٠

And we had no authority over you. But you yourselves were rebellious people.

wamā kāna lanā ʿalaykum min sul'ṭānin bal kuntum qawman ṭāghīn

فَحَقَّ عَلَیۡنَا قَوۡلُ رَبِّنَاۤۖ إِنَّا لَذَاۤىِٕقُونَ ۝٣١

MunirMezyed2023

So the Word of our Lord has been justified against us. Well! We are about to taste (the chastisement).

faḥaqqa ʿalaynā qawlu rabbinā innā ladhāiqūn

فَأَغۡوَیۡنَـٰكُمۡ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِینَ ۝٣٢

Apparently, we have seduced you away (from Faith) only because we are seducers”.

fa-aghwaynākum innā kunnā ghāwīn

فَإِنَّهُمۡ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ فِی ٱلۡعَذَابِ مُشۡتَرِكُونَ ۝٣٣

So, that day they will all take part in the torment.

fa-innahum yawma-idhin fī l-ʿadhābi mush'tarikūn

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَفۡعَلُ بِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٣٤

Verily, this is how We deal with the Ungodly Sinners.

innā kadhālika nafʿalu bil-muj'rimīn

إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۤا۟ إِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمۡ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ یَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ۝٣٥

In fact, when it was said to them: "There is no other god beside Allâh”, they acted imperiously,

innahum kānū idhā qīla lahum lā ilāha illā l-lahu yastakbirūn

وَیَقُولُونَ أَىِٕنَّا لَتَارِكُوۤا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرࣲ مَّجۡنُونِۭ ۝٣٦

MunirMezyed2023

And said: "Are we going to forsake our gods for the sake of a demented poet"

wayaqūlūna a-innā latārikū ālihatinā lishāʿirin majnūni

بَلۡ جَاۤءَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝٣٧

MunirMezyed2023

Nay! He has come with the Truth and has authenticated (the divine Message of) the Messengers (who were sent before him).

bal jāa bil-ḥaqi waṣaddaqa l-mur'salīn

إِنَّكُمۡ لَذَاۤىِٕقُوا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَلِیمِ ۝٣٨

MunirMezyed2023

Well! You are surely going to taste the painful torment.

innakum ladhāiqū l-ʿadhābi l-alīm

وَمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٣٩

MunirMezyed2023

You will be chastised only for what you were inclined to do.

wamā tuj'zawna illā mā kuntum taʿmalūn

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٤٠

MunirMezyed2023

But the faithful servants of Allâh (will be saved).

illā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمۡ رِزۡقࣱ مَّعۡلُومࣱ ۝٤١

MunirMezyed2023

For them there is a known provision:

ulāika lahum riz'qun maʿlūmu

فَوَ ٰكِهُ وَهُم مُّكۡرَمُونَ ۝٤٢

MunirMezyed2023

(Different types of) fruits. And they will be highly honored:

fawākihu wahum muk'ramūn

فِی جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِیمِ ۝٤٣

In the Gardens of bliss:

fī jannāti l-naʿīm

عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِینَ ۝٤٤

MunirMezyed2023

On thrones, facing each other.

yuṭāfu ʿalayhim bikasin min maʿīni

یُطَافُ عَلَیۡهِم بِكَأۡسࣲ مِّن مَّعِینِۭ ۝٤٥

MunirMezyed2023

Glass of sparkling wine will be circulated around them,

Yutafu AAalayhim bika/sin min maAAeenin

بَیۡضَاۤءَ لَذَّةࣲ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِینَ ۝٤٦

MunirMezyed2023

Pure brilliant white, very palatable for those who like to drink.

bayḍāa ladhatin lilshāribīn

لَا فِیهَا غَوۡلࣱ وَلَا هُمۡ عَنۡهَا یُنزَفُونَ ۝٤٧

MunirMezyed2023

It has no bad effect on them, neither will it make them drunk.

lā fīhā ghawlun walā hum ʿanhā yunzafūn

وَعِندَهُمۡ قَـٰصِرَ ٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ عِینࣱ ۝٤٨

MunirMezyed2023

With them will be voluptuous maidens

waʿindahum qāṣirātu l-ṭarfi ʿīnu

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَیۡضࣱ مَّكۡنُونࣱ ۝٤٩

MunirMezyed2023

As if they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich, sheltered by their feathers from dust).

ka-annahunna bayḍun maknūnu

فَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ یَتَسَاۤءَلُونَ ۝٥٠

They will approach one another, questioning one another.

fa-aqbala baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin yatasāalūn

قَالَ قَاۤىِٕلࣱ مِّنۡهُمۡ إِنِّی كَانَ لِی قَرِینࣱ ۝٥١

MunirMezyed2023

A speaker of them will say: "Indeed, I had a companion (in the worldly life),

qāla qāilun min'hum innī kāna lī qarīnu

یَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُصَدِّقِینَ ۝٥٢

MunirMezyed2023

Who used to say: "Are you of those who believe (in the Resurrection)?

yaqūlu a-innaka lamina l-muṣadiqīn

أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِینُونَ ۝٥٣

When we are dead and reduced to dust and bones, shall we really be called to account (for everything we do)?

a-idhā mit'nā wakunnā turāban waʿiẓāman a-innā lamadīnūn

قَالَ هَلۡ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ ۝٥٤

MunirMezyed2023

He will say: "Will you have a look?"

qāla hal antum muṭṭaliʿūn

فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِی سَوَاۤءِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٥٥

MunirMezyed2023

So he looked down and saw him in the depth of Gehenna.

fa-iṭṭalaʿa faraāhu fī sawāi l-jaḥīm

قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرۡدِینِ ۝٥٦

MunirMezyed2023

He will say: "By Allâh! You had almost led me into perdition.

qāla tal-lahi in kidtta latur'dīn

وَلَوۡلَا نِعۡمَةُ رَبِّی لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُحۡضَرِینَ ۝٥٧

MunirMezyed2023

And had it not been for the benevolence of my Lord, I would definitely have been among those who brought up".

walawlā niʿ'matu rabbī lakuntu mina l-muḥ'ḍarīn

أَفَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَیِّتِینَ ۝٥٨

MunirMezyed2023

Is it then that we won’t die,

afamā naḥnu bimayyitīn

إِلَّا مَوۡتَتَنَا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِینَ ۝٥٩

MunirMezyed2023

Except for our first death, and that we shall not be chastised?"

illā mawtatanā l-ūlā wamā naḥnu bimuʿadhabīn

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِیمُ ۝٦٠

This is definitely the ultimate success and the supreme one.

inna hādhā lahuwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīm

لِمِثۡلِ هَـٰذَا فَلۡیَعۡمَلِ ٱلۡعَـٰمِلُونَ ۝٦١

For the like of this, then, let the worker strive.

limith'li hādhā falyaʿmali l-ʿāmilūn

أَذَ ٰلِكَ خَیۡرࣱ نُّزُلًا أَمۡ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ ۝٦٢

Is this a better hospitality or the tree of Zaqqum?

adhālika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratu l-zaqūm

إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَـٰهَا فِتۡنَةࣰ لِّلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٦٣

MunirMezyed2023

We have made this (tree) a trial for those who voluntarily and consciously abandoned the Full Knowledge of the Truth in favour of their own whims.

innā jaʿalnāhā fit'natan lilẓẓālimīn

إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةࣱ تَخۡرُجُ فِیۤ أَصۡلِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٦٤

MunirMezyed2023

Verily, It is a tree that grows in the core of Gehenna.

innahā shajaratun takhruju fī aṣli l-jaḥīm

طَلۡعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینِ ۝٦٥

MunirMezyed2023

Its emerging fruit are like the head of the of devils.

ṭalʿuhā ka-annahu ruūsu l-shayāṭīn

فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنۡهَا فَمَالِءُونَ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡبُطُونَ ۝٦٦

The Denizens of Hell will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith.

fa-innahum laākilūna min'hā famāliūna min'hā l-buṭūn

ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمۡ عَلَیۡهَا لَشَوۡبࣰا مِّنۡ حَمِیمࣲ ۝٦٧

MunirMezyed2023

After eating from it, they will be given a mixture made of scalding water.

thumma inna lahum ʿalayhā lashawban min ḥamīmi

ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرۡجِعَهُمۡ لَإِلَى ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٦٨

MunirMezyed2023

Then indeed, their return will be to the Inferno.

thumma inna marjiʿahum la-ilā l-jaḥīm

إِنَّهُمۡ أَلۡفَوۡا۟ ءَابَاۤءَهُمۡ ضَاۤلِّینَ ۝٦٩

MunirMezyed2023

They indeed found their forefathers on the wrong path.

innahum alfaw ābāahum ḍāllīn

فَهُمۡ عَلَىٰۤ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمۡ یُهۡرَعُونَ ۝٧٠

MunirMezyed2023

Yet they rushed to follow their footsteps.

fahum ʿalā āthārihim yuh'raʿūn

وَلَقَدۡ ضَلَّ قَبۡلَهُمۡ أَكۡثَرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٧١

MunirMezyed2023

And certainly most of the ancients were on the wrong path before them,

walaqad ḍalla qablahum aktharu l-awalīn

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا فِیهِم مُّنذِرِینَ ۝٧٢

MunirMezyed2023

And indeed We sent among them Messengers to admonish.

walaqad arsalnā fīhim mundhirīn

فَٱنظُرۡ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِینَ ۝٧٣

MunirMezyed2023

Then see how (dreadful) was the end of those who were admonished,

fa-unẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mundharīn

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٧٤

MunirMezyed2023

Except for the faithful servants of Allâh.

illā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

3 Noah and Abraham

وَلَقَدۡ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحࣱ فَلَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡمُجِیبُونَ ۝٧٥

Indeed, Noah prayed to Us (for help), and how excellent did we respond to Prayers!

walaqad nādānā nūḥun falaniʿ'ma l-mujībūn

وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٧٦

MunirMezyed2023

We saved him and his family from the great distress,

wanajjaynāhu wa-ahlahu mina l-karbi l-ʿaẓīm

وَجَعَلۡنَا ذُرِّیَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلۡبَاقِینَ ۝٧٧

MunirMezyed2023

Made his progeny the survivors,

wajaʿalnā dhurriyyatahu humu l-bāqīn

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝٧٨

MunirMezyed2023

And perpetuated his good legacy in later generations.

wataraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ākhirīn

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحࣲ فِی ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧٩

MunirMezyed2023

Peace be upon Noah among (all men and jinn) in the worlds.

salāmun ʿalā nūḥin fī l-ʿālamīn

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝٨٠

MunirMezyed2023

Indeed, this is how We reward those who pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith.

innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨١

MunirMezyed2023

Indeed, he was one of Our Pious servants.

innahu min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn

ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝٨٢

MunirMezyed2023

Then We drowned the others.

thumma aghraqnā l-ākharīn

۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِیعَتِهِۦ لَإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝٨٣

MunirMezyed2023

Indeed, among those who followed the (upright) Faith of Noah was Abraham.

wa-inna min shīʿatihi la-ib'rāhīm

إِذۡ جَاۤءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلۡبࣲ سَلِیمٍ ۝٨٤

MunirMezyed2023

He came to his Lord with Pure and Faultless heart.

idh jāa rabbahu biqalbin salīmi

إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٨٥

MunirMezyed2023

He said to his father and his people: “What is that you worship?

idh qāla li-abīhi waqawmihi mādhā taʿbudūn

أَىِٕفۡكًا ءَالِهَةࣰ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِیدُونَ ۝٨٦

Is it a mendacity - gods beside Allâh- that you desire?

a-if'kan ālihatan dūna l-lahi turīdūn

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٨٧

Then what is your speculation about the Lord of all the beings.

famā ẓannukum birabbi l-ʿālamīn

فَنَظَرَ نَظۡرَةࣰ فِی ٱلنُّجُومِ ۝٨٨

Then he took a glance at the stars,

fanaẓara naẓratan fī l-nujūm

فَقَالَ إِنِّی سَقِیمࣱ ۝٨٩

And said: “I am sick (with plague).”

faqāla innī saqīmu

فَتَوَلَّوۡا۟ عَنۡهُ مُدۡبِرِینَ ۝٩٠

So they turned away from him, departing (in fear of getting infected).

fatawallaw ʿanhu mud'birīn

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰۤ ءَالِهَتِهِمۡ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأۡكُلُونَ ۝٩١

Then he turned to their gods and said: “What! Do you not eat?

farāgha ilā ālihatihim faqāla alā takulūn

مَا لَكُمۡ لَا تَنطِقُونَ ۝٩٢

MunirMezyed2023

What is wrong with you that you don’t speak ?”

mā lakum lā tanṭiqūn

فَرَاغَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ضَرۡبَۢا بِٱلۡیَمِینِ ۝٩٣

Then he turned furtively to them, smiting them with the right hand.

farāgha ʿalayhim ḍarban bil-yamīn

فَأَقۡبَلُوۤا۟ إِلَیۡهِ یَزِفُّونَ ۝٩٤

Then they came toward him, hastening.

fa-aqbalū ilayhi yaziffūn

قَالَ أَتَعۡبُدُونَ مَا تَنۡحِتُونَ ۝٩٥

He said: “Do you worship that which you sculpt

qāla ataʿbudūna mā tanḥitūn

وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٩٦

MunirMezyed2023

While Allâh is the One Who has created you, as well as what you make?”

wal-lahu khalaqakum wamā taʿmalūn

قَالُوا۟ ٱبۡنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنۡیَـٰنࣰا فَأَلۡقُوهُ فِی ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٩٧

They said: “Build for him a building (i.e. pyre), then cast him into the Fire.”

qālū ib'nū lahu bun'yānan fa-alqūhu fī l-jaḥīm

فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَیۡدࣰا فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡأَسۡفَلِینَ ۝٩٨

Apparently, they wanted to outwit him, but We brought them low.

fa-arādū bihi kaydan fajaʿalnāhumu l-asfalīn

وَقَالَ إِنِّی ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّی سَیَهۡدِینِ ۝٩٩

He said: "Indeed, I am going to my Lord. He will surely guide me (into all the truth).

waqāla innī dhāhibun ilā rabbī sayahdīn

رَبِّ هَبۡ لِی مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝١٠٠

MunirMezyed2023

My Lord, vouchsafe me one of the righteous."

rabbi hab lī mina l-ṣāliḥīn

فَبَشَّرۡنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِیمࣲ ۝١٠١

So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy.

fabasharnāhu bighulāmin ḥalīmi

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعۡیَ قَالَ یَـٰبُنَیَّ إِنِّیۤ أَرَىٰ فِی ٱلۡمَنَامِ أَنِّیۤ أَذۡبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرۡ مَاذَا تَرَىٰۚ قَالَ یَـٰۤأَبَتِ ٱفۡعَلۡ مَا تُؤۡمَرُۖ سَتَجِدُنِیۤ إِن شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٠٢

But when (his son) became old enough to toil with him, (Abraham) said: "O’ my son, indeed I see in a dream that I must scarify you. What do you think of this?" He said: "O’ my father, do what you are commanded to do. You will find me, if Allâh wills, one of those who cling to patience."

falammā balagha maʿahu l-saʿya qāla yābunayya innī arā fī l-manāmi annī adhbaḥuka fa-unẓur mādhā tarā qāla yāabati if'ʿal mā tu'maru satajidunī in shāa l-lahu mina l-ṣābirīn

فَلَمَّاۤ أَسۡلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلۡجَبِینِ ۝١٠٣

Then, when they had both surrendered, and he had flung him down upon his forehead,

falammā aslamā watallahu lil'jabīn

وَنَـٰدَیۡنَـٰهُ أَن یَـٰۤإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ ۝١٠٤

We called out to him: “O’ Abraham!

wanādaynāhu an yāib'rāhīm

قَدۡ صَدَّقۡتَ ٱلرُّءۡیَاۤۚ إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١٠٥

MunirMezyed2023

You have indeed fulfilled the vision of truth.” Most surely We reward those who pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith.

qad ṣaddaqta l-ru'yā innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡبَلَـٰۤؤُا۟ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝١٠٦

This was indeed the real ordeal.

inna hādhā lahuwa l-balāu l-mubīn

وَفَدَیۡنَـٰهُ بِذِبۡحٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝١٠٧

So, We ransomed his son with a great sacrifice.

wafadaynāhu bidhib'ḥin ʿaẓīmi

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝١٠٨

MunirMezyed2023

And We perpetuated his good legacy in later generations.

wataraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ākhirīn

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝١٠٩

Peace be upon Abraham.

salāmun ʿalā ib'rāhīm

كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١١٠

MunirMezyed2023

This is how We reward those who pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith.

kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١١١

MunirMezyed2023

Indeed, he was of Our Pious servants.

innahu min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn

وَبَشَّرۡنَـٰهُ بِإِسۡحَـٰقَ نَبِیࣰّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝١١٢

And We gave him the glad tidings of Isaac, one of the righteous Prophets.

wabasharnāhu bi-is'ḥāqa nabiyyan mina l-ṣāliḥīn

وَبَـٰرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ وَعَلَىٰۤ إِسۡحَـٰقَۚ وَمِن ذُرِّیَّتِهِمَا مُحۡسِنࣱ وَظَالِمࣱ لِّنَفۡسِهِۦ مُبِینࣱ ۝١١٣

And We blessed him and Isaac. Some of their offspring were righteous and others were obviously unfair to their own selves.

wabāraknā ʿalayhi waʿalā is'ḥāqa wamin dhurriyyatihimā muḥ'sinun waẓālimun linafsihi mubīnu

4 Moses, Aaron, Elias and Lot

وَلَقَدۡ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ۝١١٤

MunirMezyed2023

Verily We conferred a favor on Moses and Aaron.

walaqad manannā ʿalā mūsā wahārūn

وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوۡمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝١١٥

And We saved them and their people from the great ordeal,

wanajjaynāhumā waqawmahumā mina l-karbi l-ʿaẓīm

وَنَصَرۡنَـٰهُمۡ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبِینَ ۝١١٦

And helped them. So they were victorious. .

wanaṣarnāhum fakānū humu l-ghālibīn

وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمَا ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَبِینَ ۝١١٧

And We gave them both the Explicative Scripture,

waātaynāhumā l-kitāba l-mus'tabīn

وَهَدَیۡنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَ ٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِیمَ ۝١١٨

Guided them both to the right path,

wahadaynāhumā l-ṣirāṭa l-mus'taqīm

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمَا فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝١١٩

And perpetuated their good legacy in later generations.

wataraknā ʿalayhimā fī l-ākhirīn

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ۝١٢٠

Peace be upon Moses and Aaron.

salāmun ʿalā mūsā wahārūn

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١٢١

MunirMezyed2023

Verily, this is how We reward those who pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith.

innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

إِنَّهُمَا مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٢٢

Indeed, they were both of Our Pious Servants .

innahumā min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn

وَإِنَّ إِلۡیَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٢٣

MunirMezyed2023

Indeed, Elias was one of the Messengers of Allâh.

wa-inna il'yāsa lamina l-mur'salīn

إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦۤ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٢٤

MunirMezyed2023

He said to his people: “Will you not act piously?

idh qāla liqawmihi alā tattaqūn

أَتَدۡعُونَ بَعۡلࣰا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحۡسَنَ ٱلۡخَـٰلِقِینَ ۝١٢٥

MunirMezyed2023

What! Do you pray to Baal and abandon the Best Creator,.

atadʿūna baʿlan watadharūna aḥsana l-khāliqīn

ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمۡ وَرَبَّ ءَابَاۤىِٕكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٢٦

Allâh, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?"

al-laha rabbakum warabba ābāikumu l-awalīn

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ ۝١٢٧

They denied him. So they will be brought forth (to the doom)

fakadhabūhu fa-innahum lamuḥ'ḍarūn

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝١٢٨

MunirMezyed2023

Except for the faithful servants of Allâh.

illā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝١٢٩

MunirMezyed2023

And We perpetuated his good legacy in the later generations.

wataraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ākhirīn

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰۤ إِلۡ یَاسِینَ ۝١٣٠

MunirMezyed2023

Peace be upon Elias.

salāmun ʿalā il yāsīn

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١٣١

MunirMezyed2023

Verily, this is how We reward those who pursue righteousness and perfection in Faith.

innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٣٢

MunirMezyed2023

Indeed, he was of Our Pious Servants.

innahu min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn

وَإِنَّ لُوطࣰا لَّمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٣٣

MunirMezyed2023

Surely Lot was of one the Messengers of Allâh.

wa-inna lūṭan lamina l-mur'salīn

إِذۡ نَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥۤ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝١٣٤

MunirMezyed2023

And We saved him and all his family,

idh najjaynāhu wa-ahlahu ajmaʿīn

إِلَّا عَجُوزࣰا فِی ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٣٥

MunirMezyed2023

Except an old woman (his wife), who was among those who lagged behind:

illā ʿajūzan fī l-ghābirīn

ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝١٣٦

MunirMezyed2023

Then We utterly destroyed the others.

thumma dammarnā l-ākharīn

وَإِنَّكُمۡ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَیۡهِم مُّصۡبِحِینَ ۝١٣٧

MunirMezyed2023

Surely you pass by them in the morning

wa-innakum latamurrūna ʿalayhim muṣ'biḥīn

5 Jonah and the Prophet's Triumph

وَبِٱلَّیۡلِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٣٨

MunirMezyed2023

And at night. Don't you have conscious thoughts at least in this sense?

wabi-al-layli afalā taʿqilūn

وَإِنَّ یُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٣٩

MunirMezyed2023

And Jonah was surely one of the Messengers (of Allâh).

wa-inna yūnusa lamina l-mur'salīn

إِذۡ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ ۝١٤٠

MunirMezyed2023

He ran away and (embarked) on a ship heavily laden.

idh abaqa ilā l-ful'ki l-mashḥūn

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُدۡحَضِینَ ۝١٤١

MunirMezyed2023

Then he drew lots. And he was among the losers.

fasāhama fakāna mina l-mud'ḥaḍīn

فَٱلۡتَقَمَهُ ٱلۡحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِیمࣱ ۝١٤٢

MunirMezyed2023

Then a great fish swallowed him as he was culpable.

fal-taqamahu l-ḥūtu wahuwa mulīmu

فَلَوۡلَاۤ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحِینَ ۝١٤٣

MunirMezyed2023

And had he not been of those who celebrate the praise (of Allâh) and declare His absolute majesty and glory,

falawlā annahu kāna mina l-musabiḥīn

لَلَبِثَ فِی بَطۡنِهِۦۤ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُونَ ۝١٤٤

He would have remained in its belly until the day when they are raised.

lalabitha fī baṭnihi ilā yawmi yub'ʿathūn

۞ فَنَبَذۡنَـٰهُ بِٱلۡعَرَاۤءِ وَهُوَ سَقِیمࣱ ۝١٤٥

So We cast him into the open shore and he was seriously injured.

fanabadhnāhu bil-ʿarāi wahuwa saqīmu

وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ شَجَرَةࣰ مِّن یَقۡطِینࣲ ۝١٤٦

Then We caused a pumpkin tree to grow above him.

wa-anbatnā ʿalayhi shajaratan min yaqṭīni

وَأَرۡسَلۡنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلۡفٍ أَوۡ یَزِیدُونَ ۝١٤٧

And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more.

wa-arsalnāhu ilā mi-ati alfin aw yazīdūn

فَءَامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعۡنَـٰهُمۡ إِلَىٰ حِینࣲ ۝١٤٨

They all adhered to Absolute Monotheism and so We gave them comfort for a while.

faāmanū famattaʿnāhum ilā ḥīni

فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلۡبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلۡبَنُونَ ۝١٤٩

So do ask them: “Does your Lord have daughters, whereas they have sons?

fa-is'taftihim alirabbika l-banātu walahumu l-banūn

أَمۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةَ إِنَـٰثࣰا وَهُمۡ شَـٰهِدُونَ ۝١٥٠

Or did We create the Angels females while they were witnesses?”

am khalaqnā l-malāikata ināthan wahum shāhidūn

أَلَاۤ إِنَّهُم مِّنۡ إِفۡكِهِمۡ لَیَقُولُونَ ۝١٥١

Emphatically, it is out of their mendacity that they say:

alā innahum min if'kihim layaqūlūn

وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ۝١٥٢

MunirMezyed2023

“Allâh has begotten.” They are truly lairs.

walada l-lahu wa-innahum lakādhibūn

أَصۡطَفَى ٱلۡبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلۡبَنِینَ ۝١٥٣

Has He abandoned the sons in favour of daughters?

aṣṭafā l-banāti ʿalā l-banīn

مَا لَكُمۡ كَیۡفَ تَحۡكُمُونَ ۝١٥٤

MunirMezyed2023

What is wrong with you? How do you judge (things)?

mā lakum kayfa taḥkumūn

أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝١٥٥

MunirMezyed2023

Will you not then take heed?

afalā tadhakkarūn

أَمۡ لَكُمۡ سُلۡطَـٰنࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١٥٦

MunirMezyed2023

Or do you have a clear authority?

am lakum sul'ṭānun mubīnu

فَأۡتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٥٧

MunirMezyed2023

So bring your book if you are truthful.

fatū bikitābikum in kuntum ṣādiqīn

وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَیۡنَهُۥ وَبَیۡنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ نَسَبࣰاۚ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمَتِ ٱلۡجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ ۝١٥٨

They even invented consanguinity between Him and the Jinn. In fact, The Jinn know well that they will be brought (before their Lord)-

wajaʿalū baynahu wabayna l-jinati nasaban walaqad ʿalimati l-jinatu innahum lamuḥ'ḍarūn

سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝١٥٩

All Glory Be To Allâh from whatever they describe!-

sub'ḥāna l-lahi ʿammā yaṣifūn

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝١٦٠

Except for the faithful servants of Allâh.

illā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

فَإِنَّكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝١٦١

MunirMezyed2023

Surely you and whatever you worship

fa-innakum wamā taʿbudūn

مَاۤ أَنتُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ بِفَـٰتِنِینَ ۝١٦٢

MunirMezyed2023

Cannot tempt any one away (from the upright faith)

mā antum ʿalayhi bifātinīn

إِلَّا مَنۡ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝١٦٣

MunirMezyed2023

Except the ones who are predestined to burn in Hell.

illā man huwa ṣāli l-jaḥīm

وَمَا مِنَّاۤ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامࣱ مَّعۡلُومࣱ ۝١٦٤

MunirMezyed2023

The Angels said: “There is not one of us but has an appointed place.

wamā minnā illā lahu maqāmun maʿlūmu

وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلصَّاۤفُّونَ ۝١٦٥

MunirMezyed2023

Surely we stand in ranks (for prayer)

wa-innā lanaḥnu l-ṣāfūn

وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحُونَ ۝١٦٦

MunirMezyed2023

And we indeed hymn His praise.”

wa-innā lanaḥnu l-musabiḥūn

وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَیَقُولُونَ ۝١٦٧

MunirMezyed2023

Surely they used to say:

wa-in kānū layaqūlūn

لَوۡ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكۡرࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٦٨

MunirMezyed2023

“If only we had received a Scripture like that of the people of old,

law anna ʿindanā dhik'ran mina l-awalīn

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝١٦٩

MunirMezyed2023

We would have been the faithful servants of Allâh.”

lakunnā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦۖ فَسَوۡفَ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١٧٠

MunirMezyed2023

But, (when the Qur’ān has come to them), they refuse to give credence to It. They will soon know (the consequences of their refusal).

fakafarū bihi fasawfa yaʿlamūn

وَلَقَدۡ سَبَقَتۡ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٧١

Our Word has already foregone for Our servants, the Messengers,

walaqad sabaqat kalimatunā liʿibādinā l-mur'salīn

إِنَّهُمۡ لَهُمُ ٱلۡمَنصُورُونَ ۝١٧٢

That they would certainly be helped,

innahum lahumu l-manṣūrūn

وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبُونَ ۝١٧٣

MunirMezyed2023

And that our soldiers would certainly be the victors.

wa-inna jundanā lahumu l-ghālibūn

فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِینࣲ ۝١٧٤

MunirMezyed2023

Now, therefore, turn away from them for a little while.

fatawalla ʿanhum ḥattā ḥīni

وَأَبۡصِرۡهُمۡ فَسَوۡفَ یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝١٧٥

MunirMezyed2023

And watch (what will befall) them and soon they will see.

wa-abṣir'hum fasawfa yub'ṣirūn

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ ۝١٧٦

What! Do they seek to hasten Our retribution?

afabiʿadhābinā yastaʿjilūn

فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمۡ فَسَاۤءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِینَ ۝١٧٧

But when it descends in their courtyard, then evil is the morning of those who are admonished.

fa-idhā nazala bisāḥatihim fasāa ṣabāḥu l-mundharīn

وَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِینࣲ ۝١٧٨

Now, therefore, turn away from them for a little while,

watawalla ʿanhum ḥattā ḥīni

وَأَبۡصِرۡ فَسَوۡفَ یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝١٧٩

And watch (what will befall) them and soon they will see.

wa-abṣir fasawfa yub'ṣirūn

سُبۡحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلۡعِزَّةِ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝١٨٠

All Glory Be To your Lord, the Lord of Honor and Power, above what they describe!

sub'ḥāna rabbika rabbi l-ʿizati ʿammā yaṣifūn

وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٨١

Peace Be upon the Messengers of Allâh.

wasalāmun ʿalā l-mur'salīn

وَٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٨٢

All praise is due to Allâh, Lord of all the worlds.

wal-ḥamdu lillahi rabbi l-ʿālamīn
