These Shaitans are chased out of everywhere as they attempt to eavesdrop on the conversation of the exalted angels (to learn about the events to come)

lā yassammaʿūna ilā l-mala-i l-aʿlā wayuq'dhafūna min kulli jānibi

37:9

دُحُورࣰاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابࣱ وَاصِبٌ ۝٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

These Shaitans are outcasts. Theirs is the perpetual punishment

duḥūran walahum ʿadhābun wāṣibu

37:10

إِلَّا مَنۡ خَطِفَ ٱلۡخَطۡفَةَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابࣱ ثَاقِبࣱ ۝١٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

If one (of the Shaitans) succeeds in snatching away a fragment (of knowledge), a piercing flame follows him (in hot pursuit)

illā man khaṭifa l-khaṭfata fa-atbaʿahu shihābun thāqibu

37:11

فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَهُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَم مَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَاۤۚ إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَـٰهُم مِّن طِینࣲ لَّازِبِۭ ۝١١

Dr. Munir Munshey

Just ask their (the disbelievers´) opinion. What is harder to create? They, or the other things We have created? We created them from sticky clay

fa-is'taftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqnā innā khalaqnāhum min ṭīnin lāzibi

37:12

بَلۡ عَجِبۡتَ وَیَسۡخَرُونَ ۝١٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

In fact, (Oh prophet)! you are struck with awe, while they just mock

bal ʿajib'ta wayaskharūn

37:13

وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا یَذۡكُرُونَ ۝١٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

And when advised, they do not heed

wa-idhā dhukkirū lā yadhkurūn

37:14

وَإِذَا رَأَوۡا۟ ءَایَةࣰ یَسۡتَسۡخِرُونَ ۝١٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

When shown the sign, they scoff and laugh it off

wa-idhā ra-aw āyatan yastaskhirūn

37:15

وَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا سِحۡرࣱ مُّبِینٌ ۝١٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

And respond, "This is evidently just magic!"

waqālū in hādhā illā siḥ'run mubīnu

37:16

أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ ۝١٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Is it possible? Once we die and wither away into dust and bones, would we really be brought back to life?"

a-idhā mit'nā wakunnā turāban waʿiẓāman a-innā lamabʿūthūn

37:17

أَوَ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ ۝١٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

"And our forefathers, too?"

awaābāunā l-awalūn

37:18

قُلۡ نَعَمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ دَ ٰخِرُونَ ۝١٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

Say, "Yes! Of course you (all) would! You would be humbled."

qul naʿam wa-antum dākhirūn

37:19

فَإِنَّمَا هِیَ زَجۡرَةࣱ وَ ٰحِدَةࣱ فَإِذَا هُمۡ یَنظُرُونَ ۝١٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

In fact, it will take just a single hoot (and rebuke), and at once they shall (wake up and) stare

fa-innamā hiya zajratun wāḥidatun fa-idhā hum yanẓurūn

37:20

وَقَالُوا۟ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَا هَـٰذَا یَوۡمُ ٱلدِّینِ ۝٢٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

They will say, "Oh misery to us, this is the Day of Judgment!"

waqālū yāwaylanā hādhā yawmu l-dīn

37:21

هَـٰذَا یَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ ٱلَّذِی كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٢١

Dr. Munir Munshey

(They will hear the reply), "This is the day of the verdict you used to reject!"

hādhā yawmu l-faṣli alladhī kuntum bihi tukadhibūn

37:22

۞ ٱحۡشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزۡوَ ٰجَهُمۡ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٢٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

(Allah will order the angels): Gather together all the evildoers, their wives and also those (deities) they used to worship

uḥ'shurū alladhīna ẓalamū wa-azwājahum wamā kānū yaʿbudūn

37:23

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهۡدُوهُمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٢٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

Instead of Allah! Then, shove them along the path towards the blazing fire

min dūni l-lahi fa-ih'dūhum ilā ṣirāṭi l-jaḥīm

37:24

وَقِفُوهُمۡۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسۡءُولُونَ ۝٢٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

But detain them for a while! First, they must answer

waqifūhum innahum masūlūn

37:25

مَا لَكُمۡ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ ۝٢٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

What is wrong with you? Why are you not helping each other out, (today)

mā lakum lā tanāṣarūn

37:26

بَلۡ هُمُ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ مُسۡتَسۡلِمُونَ ۝٢٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

In fact, that day they shall (concede and) give in so sheepishly

bal humu l-yawma mus'taslimūn

37:27

وَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ یَتَسَاۤءَلُونَ ۝٢٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

Right then, they will confront and accuse each other

wa-aqbala baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin yatasāalūn

37:28

قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَأۡتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلۡیَمِینِ ۝٢٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

Some will say to others, "You (swore and) came to us (feigning sincerity); you had (an imposing) status over us."

qālū innakum kuntum tatūnanā ʿani l-yamīn

37:29

قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمۡ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٢٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

Others will reply, "Not so at all! You were disbelievers yourselves."

qālū bal lam takūnū mu'minīn

37:30

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَیۡكُم مِّن سُلۡطَـٰنِۭۖ بَلۡ كُنتُمۡ قَوۡمࣰا طَـٰغِینَ ۝٣٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

"We had no control over you. You were certainly a defiant people!"

wamā kāna lanā ʿalaykum min sul'ṭānin bal kuntum qawman ṭāghīn

37:31

فَحَقَّ عَلَیۡنَا قَوۡلُ رَبِّنَاۤۖ إِنَّا لَذَاۤىِٕقُونَ ۝٣١

Dr. Munir Munshey

"So (now), in our case the prediction of our Lord has come to pass. We (both of us) shall have to taste (the torment)."

faḥaqqa ʿalaynā qawlu rabbinā innā ladhāiqūn

37:32

فَأَغۡوَیۡنَـٰكُمۡ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِینَ ۝٣٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

"We led you astray, but we too, were (lost and) on the wrong path."

fa-aghwaynākum innā kunnā ghāwīn

37:33

فَإِنَّهُمۡ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ فِی ٱلۡعَذَابِ مُشۡتَرِكُونَ ۝٣٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

On that day, they shall all share that torment together

fa-innahum yawma-idhin fī l-ʿadhābi mush'tarikūn

37:34

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَفۡعَلُ بِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٣٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

This is really the way We shall deal with the criminals

innā kadhālika nafʿalu bil-muj'rimīn

37:35

إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۤا۟ إِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمۡ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ یَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ۝٣٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

They used to scorn and scoff arrogantly when told that there is no god except Allah

innahum kānū idhā qīla lahum lā ilāha illā l-lahu yastakbirūn

37:36

وَیَقُولُونَ أَىِٕنَّا لَتَارِكُوۤا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرࣲ مَّجۡنُونِۭ ۝٣٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

They said, "Should we give up our gods for the sake of an obsessed poet?"

wayaqūlūna a-innā latārikū ālihatinā lishāʿirin majnūni

37:37

بَلۡ جَاۤءَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝٣٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

On the contrary, he brought them the absolute truth; it confirmed the (teachings of the previous) messengers

bal jāa bil-ḥaqi waṣaddaqa l-mur'salīn

37:38

إِنَّكُمۡ لَذَاۤىِٕقُوا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَلِیمِ ۝٣٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

(You did not accept), so you definitely have to taste the painful punishment

innakum ladhāiqū l-ʿadhābi l-alīm

37:39

وَمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٣٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

You will be punished strictly in accordance with what you had done

wamā tuj'zawna illā mā kuntum taʿmalūn

37:40

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٤٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

But the sincere and obedient servants of Allah (will be safe)

illā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

37:41

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمۡ رِزۡقࣱ مَّعۡلُومࣱ ۝٤١

Dr. Munir Munshey

The known rewards (and riches) will be theirs

ulāika lahum riz'qun maʿlūmu

37:42

فَوَ ٰكِهُ وَهُم مُّكۡرَمُونَ ۝٤٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

Fruits (of all kinds)! They will be the honored (residents)

fawākihu wahum muk'ramūn

37:43

فِی جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِیمِ ۝٤٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

In the blessings filled paradise

fī jannāti l-naʿīm

37:44

عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِینَ ۝٤٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

Seated on elevated thrones, facing each other

yuṭāfu ʿalayhim bikasin min maʿīni

37:45

یُطَافُ عَلَیۡهِم بِكَأۡسࣲ مِّن مَّعِینِۭ ۝٤٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

Cups filled with drinks from the fountains (of paradise) will be passed around among them

Yutafu AAalayhim bika/sin min maAAeenin

37:46

بَیۡضَاۤءَ لَذَّةࣲ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِینَ ۝٤٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

White (wine)! A delicious and delectable drink

bayḍāa ladhatin lilshāribīn

37:47

لَا فِیهَا غَوۡلࣱ وَلَا هُمۡ عَنۡهَا یُنزَفُونَ ۝٤٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

It will neither inebriate; nor cause a hangover

lā fīhā ghawlun walā hum ʿanhā yunzafūn

37:48

وَعِندَهُمۡ قَـٰصِرَ ٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ عِینࣱ ۝٤٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

(They will be) accompanied by chaste and demure females, with eyes only for their mates

waʿindahum qāṣirātu l-ṭarfi ʿīnu

37:49

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَیۡضࣱ مَّكۡنُونࣱ ۝٤٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

So dainty and delicate; like a thin film lining the eggshell

ka-annahunna bayḍun maknūnu

37:50

فَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ یَتَسَاۤءَلُونَ ۝٥٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

(Surrounded by such luxuries) they will face each other and converse

fa-aqbala baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin yatasāalūn

37:51

قَالَ قَاۤىِٕلࣱ مِّنۡهُمۡ إِنِّی كَانَ لِی قَرِینࣱ ۝٥١

Dr. Munir Munshey

One of them would say to others, "I had a friend."

qāla qāilun min'hum innī kāna lī qarīnu

37:52

یَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُصَدِّقِینَ ۝٥٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

"He used to say (to me): are you also one of those who believe?"

yaqūlu a-innaka lamina l-muṣadiqīn

37:53

أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِینُونَ ۝٥٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

"That we would be asked to face the reckoning even after we turn into dust and bones?"

a-idhā mit'nā wakunnā turāban waʿiẓāman a-innā lamadīnūn

37:54

قَالَ هَلۡ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ ۝٥٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

He would be asked, "Would you look at him now?"

qāla hal antum muṭṭaliʿūn

37:55

فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِی سَوَاۤءِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٥٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

He would look and spot his ex-friend in the thick of the blazing fire

fa-iṭṭalaʿa faraāhu fī sawāi l-jaḥīm

37:56

قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرۡدِینِ ۝٥٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

He would call out (to his ex friend in the hellfire), "I swear by Allah, you had all but ruined me."

qāla tal-lahi in kidtta latur'dīn

37:57

وَلَوۡلَا نِعۡمَةُ رَبِّی لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُحۡضَرِینَ ۝٥٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Had it not been for my Lord´s blessings, I would be there (burning in the hellfire) with you, right now!"

walawlā niʿ'matu rabbī lakuntu mina l-muḥ'ḍarīn

37:58

أَفَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَیِّتِینَ ۝٥٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

(Happily, he would muse), "Are we never going to die now?"

afamā naḥnu bimayyitīn

37:59

إِلَّا مَوۡتَتَنَا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِینَ ۝٥٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Was our death in our previous life final? Are we never going to be punished?"

illā mawtatanā l-ūlā wamā naḥnu bimuʿadhabīn

37:60

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِیمُ ۝٦٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

That, indeed, is a tremendous triumph

inna hādhā lahuwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīm

37:61

لِمِثۡلِ هَـٰذَا فَلۡیَعۡمَلِ ٱلۡعَـٰمِلُونَ ۝٦١

Dr. Munir Munshey

Those desirous (of success) should strive for just such an outcome

limith'li hādhā falyaʿmali l-ʿāmilūn

37:62

أَذَ ٰلِكَ خَیۡرࣱ نُّزُلًا أَمۡ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ ۝٦٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

Isn´t a gracious feast (in paradise) better than the tree of ´zaqum´

adhālika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratu l-zaqūm

37:63

إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَـٰهَا فِتۡنَةࣰ لِّلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٦٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

We have deemed that tree to be a test for the evildoers

innā jaʿalnāhā fit'natan lilẓẓālimīn

37:64

إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةࣱ تَخۡرُجُ فِیۤ أَصۡلِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٦٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

That tree springs forth from the very bottom of hell

innahā shajaratun takhruju fī aṣli l-jaḥīm

37:65

طَلۡعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینِ ۝٦٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

Its buds (and crop) resemble the heads of Shaitans

ṭalʿuhā ka-annahu ruūsu l-shayāṭīn

37:66

فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنۡهَا فَمَالِءُونَ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡبُطُونَ ۝٦٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

The evil doers will have (nothing but) that to eat. They will stuff their stomachs with it

fa-innahum laākilūna min'hā famāliūna min'hā l-buṭūn

37:67

ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمۡ عَلَیۡهَا لَشَوۡبࣰا مِّنۡ حَمِیمࣲ ۝٦٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

They will get (only) boiling water (to gulp down the ´zaqum´)

thumma inna lahum ʿalayhā lashawban min ḥamīmi

37:68

ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرۡجِعَهُمۡ لَإِلَى ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٦٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

After (such a meal) they will come right back to the blazing fire of hell

thumma inna marjiʿahum la-ilā l-jaḥīm

37:69

إِنَّهُمۡ أَلۡفَوۡا۟ ءَابَاۤءَهُمۡ ضَاۤلِّینَ ۝٦٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

(Their crime): they found their parents astray

innahum alfaw ābāahum ḍāllīn

37:70

فَهُمۡ عَلَىٰۤ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمۡ یُهۡرَعُونَ ۝٧٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

Yet (without thinking) they rushed along in their (parents´) footsteps

fahum ʿalā āthārihim yuh'raʿūn

37:71

وَلَقَدۡ ضَلَّ قَبۡلَهُمۡ أَكۡثَرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٧١

Dr. Munir Munshey

(Even though they knew that) the earlier people (blundered and) had gone astray

walaqad ḍalla qablahum aktharu l-awalīn

37:72

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا فِیهِم مُّنذِرِینَ ۝٧٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

We certainly raised messengers among them to warn them

walaqad arsalnā fīhim mundhirīn

37:73

فَٱنظُرۡ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِینَ ۝٧٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

So look at how those people forewarned met their end. The fate that they fared

fa-unẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mundharīn

37:74

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٧٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

But the sincere and the obedient servants of Allah (will be safe)

illā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

37:75

وَلَقَدۡ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحࣱ فَلَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡمُجِیبُونَ ۝٧٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

Earlier, Nooh called Us and We responded. We are simply the Best of those who respond

walaqad nādānā nūḥun falaniʿ'ma l-mujībūn

37:76

وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٧٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

We rescued him and his household from an awful torture

wanajjaynāhu wa-ahlahu mina l-karbi l-ʿaẓīm

37:77

وَجَعَلۡنَا ذُرِّیَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلۡبَاقِینَ ۝٧٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

We arranged it so that only his progeny survived (the flood)

wajaʿalnā dhurriyyatahu humu l-bāqīn

37:78

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝٧٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

And among the generations to follow, We let his name be honored and revered

wataraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ākhirīn

37:79

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحࣲ فِی ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

Peace (and honor) is for ´Nooh´ in the entire universe

salāmun ʿalā nūḥin fī l-ʿālamīn

37:80

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝٨٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

This is really how We reward the righteous ones

innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

37:81

إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨١

Dr. Munir Munshey

Indeed, he was one of Our (obedient and) believing servants

innahu min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn

37:82

ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝٨٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

We drowned the others _ all the rest of them

thumma aghraqnā l-ākharīn

37:83

۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِیعَتِهِۦ لَإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝٨٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

Among those who followed him and his ways, was Ibraheem

wa-inna min shīʿatihi la-ib'rāhīm

37:84

إِذۡ جَاۤءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلۡبࣲ سَلِیمٍ ۝٨٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

He brought back to his Lord an untainted (and unblemished) heart, free from evil

idh jāa rabbahu biqalbin salīmi

37:85

إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٨٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

He said to his father and his people, "What do you worship? (These idols)?"

idh qāla li-abīhi waqawmihi mādhā taʿbudūn

37:86

أَىِٕفۡكًا ءَالِهَةࣰ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِیدُونَ ۝٨٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Do you prefer lies? Do you seek false gods instead of Allah?"

a-if'kan ālihatan dūna l-lahi turīdūn

37:87

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٨٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Is this your notion of the Lord of the universe?"

famā ẓannukum birabbi l-ʿālamīn

37:88

فَنَظَرَ نَظۡرَةࣰ فِی ٱلنُّجُومِ ۝٨٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

Then he (rolled his eyes and) cast a sweeping glance at the stars

fanaẓara naẓratan fī l-nujūm

37:89

فَقَالَ إِنِّی سَقِیمࣱ ۝٨٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

And said, "I really feel sick."

faqāla innī saqīmu

37:90

فَتَوَلَّوۡا۟ عَنۡهُ مُدۡبِرِینَ ۝٩٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

So they turned their backs and left him alone

fatawallaw ʿanhu mud'birīn

37:91

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰۤ ءَالِهَتِهِمۡ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأۡكُلُونَ ۝٩١

Dr. Munir Munshey

Stealthily, he approached their gods and said, "Why do you not eat (the offerings)?"

farāgha ilā ālihatihim faqāla alā takulūn

37:92

مَا لَكُمۡ لَا تَنطِقُونَ ۝٩٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

"What is wrong? You don´t even talk?"

mā lakum lā tanṭiqūn

37:93

فَرَاغَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ضَرۡبَۢا بِٱلۡیَمِینِ ۝٩٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

And then he attacked them, striking sharp blows with his right hand

farāgha ʿalayhim ḍarban bil-yamīn

37:94

فَأَقۡبَلُوۤا۟ إِلَیۡهِ یَزِفُّونَ ۝٩٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

The worshippers came rushing towards him

fa-aqbalū ilayhi yaziffūn

37:95

قَالَ أَتَعۡبُدُونَ مَا تَنۡحِتُونَ ۝٩٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

He asked, "You worship these idols? You have carved them yourself (they are your handiwork)!"

qāla ataʿbudūna mā tanḥitūn

37:96

وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٩٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

"While you _ as also your handiwork _ are the creation of Allah!"

wal-lahu khalaqakum wamā taʿmalūn

37:97

قَالُوا۟ ٱبۡنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنۡیَـٰنࣰا فَأَلۡقُوهُ فِی ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٩٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

They said, "Let us build a (furnace shaped) pyre for him, and let us toss him into the blazing fire (burning inside)."

qālū ib'nū lahu bun'yānan fa-alqūhu fī l-jaḥīm

37:98

فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَیۡدࣰا فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡأَسۡفَلِینَ ۝٩٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

Skillfully, they devised a plan against him, but We made their plans go awry and We humiliated them. We brought them down

fa-arādū bihi kaydan fajaʿalnāhumu l-asfalīn

37:99

وَقَالَ إِنِّی ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّی سَیَهۡدِینِ ۝٩٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

(After his rescue) he said, "I am going towards my Lord! He will guide me."

waqāla innī dhāhibun ilā rabbī sayahdīn

37:100

رَبِّ هَبۡ لِی مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝١٠٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

"My Lord, grant me a righteous (son)."

rabbi hab lī mina l-ṣāliḥīn

37:101

فَبَشَّرۡنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِیمࣲ ۝١٠١

Dr. Munir Munshey

So We gave him the glad tidings of a gentle lad

fabasharnāhu bighulāmin ḥalīmi

37:102

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعۡیَ قَالَ یَـٰبُنَیَّ إِنِّیۤ أَرَىٰ فِی ٱلۡمَنَامِ أَنِّیۤ أَذۡبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرۡ مَاذَا تَرَىٰۚ قَالَ یَـٰۤأَبَتِ ٱفۡعَلۡ مَا تُؤۡمَرُۖ سَتَجِدُنِیۤ إِن شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٠٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

When that boy was old enough to share his father´s interests, Ibraheem said, "Oh my son, in my dream I saw myself slaughtering you (by His command)! So now, tell me what you think?" The son said, "Oh my father, do carry out your command. You will find me _ if Allah so wills _ patient and steadfast."

falammā balagha maʿahu l-saʿya qāla yābunayya innī arā fī l-manāmi annī adhbaḥuka fa-unẓur mādhā tarā qāla yāabati if'ʿal mā tu'maru satajidunī in shāa l-lahu mina l-ṣābirīn

37:103

فَلَمَّاۤ أَسۡلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلۡجَبِینِ ۝١٠٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

When both agreed to submit (their wills to Allah), the father flung his son down on his face

falammā aslamā watallahu lil'jabīn

37:104

وَنَـٰدَیۡنَـٰهُ أَن یَـٰۤإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ ۝١٠٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

That is when We called out, "Oh Ibraheem!"

wanādaynāhu an yāib'rāhīm

37:105

قَدۡ صَدَّقۡتَ ٱلرُّءۡیَاۤۚ إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١٠٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

"You have made this dream come true! We reward the righteous ones in this manner."

qad ṣaddaqta l-ru'yā innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

37:106

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡبَلَـٰۤؤُا۟ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝١٠٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

"In fact, this was meant to be a clear (and specific) trial for you."

inna hādhā lahuwa l-balāu l-mubīn

37:107

وَفَدَیۡنَـٰهُ بِذِبۡحٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝١٠٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Therefore, We offered in exchange (for his son) the great sacrifice (the rite of sacrifice on the day after Hajj)."

wafadaynāhu bidhib'ḥin ʿaẓīmi

37:108

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝١٠٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

And among the generations to follow We let his name be honored and revered

wataraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ākhirīn

37:109

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝١٠٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

Peace is upon Ibraheem

salāmun ʿalā ib'rāhīm

37:110

كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١١٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

This is how We reward the righteous ones

kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

37:111

إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١١١

Dr. Munir Munshey

Indeed, he was one of Our (obedient and) believing servants

innahu min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn

37:112

وَبَشَّرۡنَـٰهُ بِإِسۡحَـٰقَ نَبِیࣰّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝١١٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

We gave him the good news of the birth of Ishaq _ a righteous prophet

wabasharnāhu bi-is'ḥāqa nabiyyan mina l-ṣāliḥīn

37:113

وَبَـٰرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ وَعَلَىٰۤ إِسۡحَـٰقَۚ وَمِن ذُرِّیَّتِهِمَا مُحۡسِنࣱ وَظَالِمࣱ لِّنَفۡسِهِۦ مُبِینࣱ ۝١١٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

We blessed him and Ishaq. Now, some of their descendants are righteous, while others (disbelieved and so) are unjust to their own selves

wabāraknā ʿalayhi waʿalā is'ḥāqa wamin dhurriyyatihimā muḥ'sinun waẓālimun linafsihi mubīnu

37:114

وَلَقَدۡ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ۝١١٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

And We certainly bestowed Our favor upon Musa, and (his brother) Haroon

walaqad manannā ʿalā mūsā wahārūn

37:115

وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوۡمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝١١٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

And We rescued them, and their nation, from an awful torture

wanajjaynāhumā waqawmahumā mina l-karbi l-ʿaẓīm

37:116

وَنَصَرۡنَـٰهُمۡ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبِینَ ۝١١٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

And We came to their aid. So they ended up being the victors

wanaṣarnāhum fakānū humu l-ghālibīn

37:117

وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمَا ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَبِینَ ۝١١٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

And We gave them the divine book (so they may know right from wrong)

waātaynāhumā l-kitāba l-mus'tabīn

37:118

وَهَدَیۡنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَ ٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِیمَ ۝١١٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

And We guided them to the straight path

wahadaynāhumā l-ṣirāṭa l-mus'taqīm

37:119

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمَا فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝١١٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

And among the generations to follow, We let their names be honored and revered

wataraknā ʿalayhimā fī l-ākhirīn

37:120

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ۝١٢٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

Peace is upon Musa and Haroon

salāmun ʿalā mūsā wahārūn

37:121

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١٢١

Dr. Munir Munshey

This is really how We reward the righteous ones

innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

37:122

إِنَّهُمَا مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٢٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

Those two were among Our (obedient and) believing servants

innahumā min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn

37:123

وَإِنَّ إِلۡیَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٢٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

And Ilyas, too, was one of the messengers

wa-inna il'yāsa lamina l-mur'salīn

37:124

إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦۤ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٢٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

He said to his people, "Do you not fear Allah?"

idh qāla liqawmihi alā tattaqūn

37:125

أَتَدۡعُونَ بَعۡلࣰا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحۡسَنَ ٱلۡخَـٰلِقِینَ ۝١٢٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Do you pray to (the idol) ´Baal´ (a bull believed to be a god of fertility) while you quit (worshipping) the Best of the creators?"

atadʿūna baʿlan watadharūna aḥsana l-khāliqīn

37:126

ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمۡ وَرَبَّ ءَابَاۤىِٕكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٢٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?"

al-laha rabbakum warabba ābāikumu l-awalīn

37:127

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ ۝١٢٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

But they (disbelieved and) called him a liar. Therefore, they will certainly be present there (on the Day of Judgment to face the punishment)

fakadhabūhu fa-innahum lamuḥ'ḍarūn

37:128

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝١٢٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

Except the sincere servants of Allah

illā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

37:129

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝١٢٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

And among the generations to follow, We let his name be honored and revered

wataraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ākhirīn

37:130

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰۤ إِلۡ یَاسِینَ ۝١٣٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

Peace be upon Ilyas

salāmun ʿalā il yāsīn

37:131

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١٣١

Dr. Munir Munshey

This is really how We reward the righteous ones

innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

37:132

إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٣٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

Indeed, he was one of Our (obedient and) believing servants

innahu min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn

37:133

وَإِنَّ لُوطࣰا لَّمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٣٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

´Loot´ was also one of the messengers

wa-inna lūṭan lamina l-mur'salīn

37:134

إِذۡ نَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥۤ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝١٣٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

We rescued him and all the members of his family

idh najjaynāhu wa-ahlahu ajmaʿīn

37:135

إِلَّا عَجُوزࣰا فِی ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٣٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

Except an old woman destined to stay behind

illā ʿajūzan fī l-ghābirīn

37:136

ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝١٣٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

Then We destroyed the others _ all the rest of them

thumma dammarnā l-ākharīn

37:137

وَإِنَّكُمۡ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَیۡهِم مُّصۡبِحِینَ ۝١٣٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

In fact, you do pass by their ruins during the day

wa-innakum latamurrūna ʿalayhim muṣ'biḥīn

37:138

وَبِٱلَّیۡلِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٣٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

And during the night! Don´t you have any sense

wabi-al-layli afalā taʿqilūn

37:139

وَإِنَّ یُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٣٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

And surely, Yunus was also one of the messengers

wa-inna yūnusa lamina l-mur'salīn

37:140

إِذۡ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ ۝١٤٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

He (abandoned his post and) fled aboard a crowded ship

idh abaqa ilā l-ful'ki l-mashḥūn

37:141

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُدۡحَضِینَ ۝١٤١

Dr. Munir Munshey

(To save the ship) he agreed to take part in the casting of the lots _ and lost. (Hence, he was thrown overboard)

fasāhama fakāna mina l-mud'ḥaḍīn

37:142

فَٱلۡتَقَمَهُ ٱلۡحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِیمࣱ ۝١٤٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

A whale swallowed him. He was (at fault and) blame worthy

fal-taqamahu l-ḥūtu wahuwa mulīmu

37:143

فَلَوۡلَاۤ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحِینَ ۝١٤٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

He was one of those who (extol and) glorify Allah routinely

falawlā annahu kāna mina l-musabiḥīn

37:144

لَلَبِثَ فِی بَطۡنِهِۦۤ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُونَ ۝١٤٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

Else, he would have stayed in the belly of the fish till the day of resurrection

lalabitha fī baṭnihi ilā yawmi yub'ʿathūn

37:145

۞ فَنَبَذۡنَـٰهُ بِٱلۡعَرَاۤءِ وَهُوَ سَقِیمࣱ ۝١٤٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

But We tossed him ashore in a barren area without any shade. He was stricken with illness and emaciated

fanabadhnāhu bil-ʿarāi wahuwa saqīmu

37:146

وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ شَجَرَةࣰ مِّن یَقۡطِینࣲ ۝١٤٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

We grew a plant _ a creeper _ over and around (to shade and protect) him

wa-anbatnā ʿalayhi shajaratan min yaqṭīni

37:147

وَأَرۡسَلۡنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلۡفٍ أَوۡ یَزِیدُونَ ۝١٤٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

(Later), We sent him back to the community of a hundred thousand plus

wa-arsalnāhu ilā mi-ati alfin aw yazīdūn

37:148

فَءَامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعۡنَـٰهُمۡ إِلَىٰ حِینࣲ ۝١٤٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

They believed, so We had them enjoy life for a while

faāmanū famattaʿnāhum ilā ḥīni

37:149

فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلۡبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلۡبَنُونَ ۝١٤٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

Ask their opinion. (Is it fair that) your Lord should have daughters while they prefer sons for themselves

fa-is'taftihim alirabbika l-banātu walahumu l-banūn

37:150

أَمۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةَ إِنَـٰثࣰا وَهُمۡ شَـٰهِدُونَ ۝١٥٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

Or did We create the angels as female beings? Were they present there, watching

am khalaqnā l-malāikata ināthan wahum shāhidūn

37:151

أَلَاۤ إِنَّهُم مِّنۡ إِفۡكِهِمۡ لَیَقُولُونَ ۝١٥١

Dr. Munir Munshey

Beware! What they utter is certainly self-conceived, and merely fiction

alā innahum min if'kihim layaqūlūn

37:152

وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ۝١٥٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

(Do they say) Allah has borne a child? Of course they are lying

walada l-lahu wa-innahum lakādhibūn

37:153

أَصۡطَفَى ٱلۡبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلۡبَنِینَ ۝١٥٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

Does He (really) prefer daughters over sons

aṣṭafā l-banāti ʿalā l-banīn

37:154

مَا لَكُمۡ كَیۡفَ تَحۡكُمُونَ ۝١٥٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

What is wrong with you? How can you hold such views

mā lakum kayfa taḥkumūn

37:155

أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝١٥٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

Won´t you (reflect and) come back to your senses

afalā tadhakkarūn

37:156

أَمۡ لَكُمۡ سُلۡطَـٰنࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١٥٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

Or do you have a clear authority (to hold such views)

am lakum sul'ṭānun mubīnu

37:157

فَأۡتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٥٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

So bring your scriptures (and quote your authority) if you are truthful

fatū bikitābikum in kuntum ṣādiqīn

37:158

وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَیۡنَهُۥ وَبَیۡنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ نَسَبࣰاۚ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمَتِ ٱلۡجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ ۝١٥٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

They conjure up kinship between Him and the jinn. But (all) jinn are well aware that the evildoers will have to appear before Him (for reckoning)

wajaʿalū baynahu wabayna l-jinati nasaban walaqad ʿalimati l-jinatu innahum lamuḥ'ḍarūn

37:159

سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝١٥٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

Allah is Exalted _ infinitely more Sublime than what they describe

sub'ḥāna l-lahi ʿammā yaṣifūn

37:160

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝١٦٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

The sincere servants of Allah are excepted _ (they associate no one with Allah)

illā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

37:161

فَإِنَّكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝١٦١

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Of course you and those (false gods) you worship,"

fa-innakum wamā taʿbudūn

37:162

مَاۤ أَنتُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ بِفَـٰتِنِینَ ۝١٦٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Can never tempt and entice away,"

mā antum ʿalayhi bifātinīn

37:163

إِلَّا مَنۡ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝١٦٣

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Anybody except the one who will burn in the fire of hell."

illā man huwa ṣāli l-jaḥīm

37:164

وَمَا مِنَّاۤ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامࣱ مَّعۡلُومࣱ ۝١٦٤

Dr. Munir Munshey

(The angels say) "Every single one of us has been assigned a place,"

wamā minnā illā lahu maqāmun maʿlūmu

37:165

وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلصَّاۤفُّونَ ۝١٦٥

Dr. Munir Munshey

"(Before Him). We, too stand in rows to pray."

wa-innā lanaḥnu l-ṣāfūn

37:166

وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحُونَ ۝١٦٦

Dr. Munir Munshey

"We, too, (extol His glory and) chant His praises!"

wa-innā lanaḥnu l-musabiḥūn

37:167

وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَیَقُولُونَ ۝١٦٧

Dr. Munir Munshey

They surely used to claim (that)

wa-in kānū layaqūlūn

37:168

لَوۡ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكۡرࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٦٨

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Like the earlier people, if we had received the (divine) advice,"

law anna ʿindanā dhik'ran mina l-awalīn

37:169

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝١٦٩

Dr. Munir Munshey

"Then of course we would have been the chosen people of Allah!"

lakunnā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

37:170

فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦۖ فَسَوۡفَ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١٧٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

(Divine advice they did receive), but they have rejected it already! So now, they will soon find out

fakafarū bihi fasawfa yaʿlamūn

37:171

وَلَقَدۡ سَبَقَتۡ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٧١

Dr. Munir Munshey

We already gave Our word to Our servants _ the messengers

walaqad sabaqat kalimatunā liʿibādinā l-mur'salīn

37:172

إِنَّهُمۡ لَهُمُ ٱلۡمَنصُورُونَ ۝١٧٢

Dr. Munir Munshey

That they would certainly be helped

innahum lahumu l-manṣūrūn

37:173

وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبُونَ ۝١٧٣

Our army would triumph, for sure

wa-inna jundanā lahumu l-ghālibūn

37:174

فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِینࣲ ۝١٧٤

So leave them alone for a while

fatawalla ʿanhum ḥattā ḥīni

37:175

وَأَبۡصِرۡهُمۡ فَسَوۡفَ یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝١٧٥

Just watch them. Soon they will see the torment themselves

wa-abṣir'hum fasawfa yub'ṣirūn

37:176

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ ۝١٧٦

Are they clamoring for Our torment to be hastened

afabiʿadhābinā yastaʿjilūn

37:177

فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمۡ فَسَاۤءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِینَ ۝١٧٧

For those forewarned, dreadful would be the dawn when the doom descends on their doorstep

fa-idhā nazala bisāḥatihim fasāa ṣabāḥu l-mundharīn

37:178

وَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِینࣲ ۝١٧٨

So leave them alone for a while

watawalla ʿanhum ḥattā ḥīni

37:179

وَأَبۡصِرۡ فَسَوۡفَ یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝١٧٩

Watch them! Soon they will see it

wa-abṣir fasawfa yub'ṣirūn

37:180

سُبۡحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلۡعِزَّةِ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝١٨٠

Dr. Munir Munshey

Glorified is your Lord, the Majestic Lord of honor and power. (He is Free) from the lies they attribute to Him

sub'ḥāna rabbika rabbi l-ʿizati ʿammā yaṣifūn

37:181

وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٨١

Peace is upon the messengers

wasalāmun ʿalā l-mur'salīn

37:182

وَٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٨٢

And all praise is for Allah, the Lord of the universe

wal-ḥamdu lillahi rabbi l-ʿālamīn
