Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers — Sayyed Abbas Sadr Ameli Translation

37:1

وَٱلصَّـٰۤفَّـٰتِ صَفࣰّا ۝١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

By those who range themselves in ranks,

wal-ṣāfāti ṣaffa

37:2

فَٱلزَّ ٰجِرَ ٰتِ زَجۡرࣰا ۝٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And those who drive away (the evils and temptations) with reproof,

fal-zājirāti zajra

37:3

فَٱلتَّـٰلِیَـٰتِ ذِكۡرًا ۝٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And the reciters of a Remembrance (Qur ?n),

fal-tāliyāti dhik'ra

37:4

إِنَّ إِلَـٰهَكُمۡ لَوَ ٰحِدࣱ ۝٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily your God is One,

inna ilāhakum lawāḥidu

37:5

رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَشَـٰرِقِ ۝٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, and Lord of the rising-places (of sun).

rabbu l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wamā baynahumā warabbu l-mashāriq

37:6

إِنَّا زَیَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَاۤءَ ٱلدُّنۡیَا بِزِینَةٍ ٱلۡكَوَاكِبِ ۝٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the stars.

innā zayyannā l-samāa l-dun'yā bizīnatin l-kawākib

37:7

وَحِفۡظࣰا مِّن كُلِّ شَیۡطَـٰنࣲ مَّارِدࣲ ۝٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And to preserve against every rebel Satan;

waḥif'ẓan min kulli shayṭānin māridi

37:8

لَّا یَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡمَلَإِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ وَیُقۡذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبࣲ ۝٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They cannot listen to (the secrets of) the exalted assembly and they are thrown at from every side,

lā yassammaʿūna ilā l-mala-i l-aʿlā wayuq'dhafūna min kulli jānibi

37:9

دُحُورࣰاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابࣱ وَاصِبٌ ۝٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

(To be) driven off, and for them is an everlasting chastisement,

duḥūran walahum ʿadhābun wāṣibu

37:10

إِلَّا مَنۡ خَطِفَ ٱلۡخَطۡفَةَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابࣱ ثَاقِبࣱ ۝١٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Except him who snatches a fragment, and he is pursued by a piercing flame.

illā man khaṭifa l-khaṭfata fa-atbaʿahu shihābun thāqibu

37:11

فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَهُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَم مَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَاۤۚ إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَـٰهُم مِّن طِینࣲ لَّازِبِۭ ۝١١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then ask their opinion whether they are stronger in creation or (the others) whom we have created. Verily We created them of a sticky clay.

fa-is'taftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqnā innā khalaqnāhum min ṭīnin lāzibi

37:12

بَلۡ عَجِبۡتَ وَیَسۡخَرُونَ ۝١٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Nay! you wonder while they mock.

bal ʿajib'ta wayaskharūn

37:13

وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا یَذۡكُرُونَ ۝١٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

When they are admonished, they mind not,

wa-idhā dhukkirū lā yadhkurūn

37:14

وَإِذَا رَأَوۡا۟ ءَایَةࣰ یَسۡتَسۡخِرُونَ ۝١٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And when they see a sign (miracle) they invite one another to scuff,

wa-idhā ra-aw āyatan yastaskhirūn

37:15

وَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا سِحۡرࣱ مُّبِینٌ ۝١٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And they say: This is nothing but an open sorcery.

waqālū in hādhā illā siḥ'run mubīnu

37:16

أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ ۝١٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

(They say:) When we are dead and have become dust and (rotten) bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again)?

a-idhā mit'nā wakunnā turāban waʿiẓāman a-innā lamabʿūthūn

37:17

أَوَ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ ۝١٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And also our forefathers?

awaābāunā l-awalūn

37:18

قُلۡ نَعَمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ دَ ٰخِرُونَ ۝١٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Say: Yes, (you all shall be raised) while you will be brought low .

qul naʿam wa-antum dākhirūn

37:19

فَإِنَّمَا هِیَ زَجۡرَةࣱ وَ ٰحِدَةࣱ فَإِذَا هُمۡ یَنظُرُونَ ۝١٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then it (the Resurrection) will only be a single cry, and behold, they begin to see (the scene of Hereafter)!

fa-innamā hiya zajratun wāḥidatun fa-idhā hum yanẓurūn

37:20

وَقَالُوا۟ یَـٰوَیۡلَنَا هَـٰذَا یَوۡمُ ٱلدِّینِ ۝٢٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And they shall say: Woe for us! This is the Day of Judgment.

waqālū yāwaylanā hādhā yawmu l-dīn

37:21

هَـٰذَا یَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ ٱلَّذِی كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٢١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

(They will be told:) This is the Day of Separation (of right and wrong), which you used to belie.

hādhā yawmu l-faṣli alladhī kuntum bihi tukadhibūn

37:22

۞ ٱحۡشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزۡوَ ٰجَهُمۡ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٢٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

(And Allah will command the angels:) Gather you together those who were unjust and their mates and what they used to worship,

uḥ'shurū alladhīna ẓalamū wa-azwājahum wamā kānū yaʿbudūn

37:23

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهۡدُوهُمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٢٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Besides Allah, and lead them (all) unto the path of Hell .

min dūni l-lahi fa-ih'dūhum ilā ṣirāṭi l-jaḥīm

37:24

وَقِفُوهُمۡۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسۡءُولُونَ ۝٢٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And stop them, for verily they must be questioned:

waqifūhum innahum masūlūn

37:25

مَا لَكُمۡ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ ۝٢٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

(They will be told:) How now, that you help not one another?

mā lakum lā tanāṣarūn

37:26

بَلۡ هُمُ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ مُسۡتَسۡلِمُونَ ۝٢٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Nay! this day they make full submission.

bal humu l-yawma mus'taslimūn

37:27

وَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ یَتَسَاۤءَلُونَ ۝٢٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And some of them shall turn to the others questioning each other.

wa-aqbala baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin yatasāalūn

37:28

قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَأۡتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلۡیَمِینِ ۝٢٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They will say: Verily you used to come unto us, from the right side.

qālū innakum kuntum tatūnanā ʿani l-yamīn

37:29

قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمۡ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٢٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They answer: Nay! you (yourselves) were not believers.

qālū bal lam takūnū mu'minīn

37:30

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَیۡكُم مِّن سُلۡطَـٰنِۭۖ بَلۡ كُنتُمۡ قَوۡمࣰا طَـٰغِینَ ۝٣٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And there was not for us any authority over you. Nay! You were a rebellious people!

wamā kāna lanā ʿalaykum min sul'ṭānin bal kuntum qawman ṭāghīn

37:31

فَحَقَّ عَلَیۡنَا قَوۡلُ رَبِّنَاۤۖ إِنَّا لَذَاۤىِٕقُونَ ۝٣١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So, now the word of our Lord has been proved against us that verily we shall taste (the chastisement).

faḥaqqa ʿalaynā qawlu rabbinā innā ladhāiqūn

37:32

فَأَغۡوَیۡنَـٰكُمۡ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِینَ ۝٣٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So we misled you, for verily we were ourselves astray.

fa-aghwaynākum innā kunnā ghāwīn

37:33

فَإِنَّهُمۡ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ فِی ٱلۡعَذَابِ مُشۡتَرِكُونَ ۝٣٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So verily they (both) on that Day are sharers in the (Divine) chastisement.

fa-innahum yawma-idhin fī l-ʿadhābi mush'tarikūn

37:34

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَفۡعَلُ بِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٣٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily thus do We deal with the guilty.

innā kadhālika nafʿalu bil-muj'rimīn

37:35

إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۤا۟ إِذَا قِیلَ لَهُمۡ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ یَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ۝٣٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily they used to be proud when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah .

innahum kānū idhā qīla lahum lā ilāha illā l-lahu yastakbirūn

37:36

وَیَقُولُونَ أَىِٕنَّا لَتَارِكُوۤا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرࣲ مَّجۡنُونِۭ ۝٣٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And said: Shall we give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet?

wayaqūlūna a-innā latārikū ālihatinā lishāʿirin majnūni

37:37

بَلۡ جَاۤءَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝٣٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Nay: he has come with the Truth and verified the (former) messengers.

bal jāa bil-ḥaqi waṣaddaqa l-mur'salīn

37:38

إِنَّكُمۡ لَذَاۤىِٕقُوا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَلِیمِ ۝٣٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily you will taste the painful punishment, (too).

innakum ladhāiqū l-ʿadhābi l-alīm

37:39

وَمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٣٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And you are not requited except (for) what you were doing.

wamā tuj'zawna illā mā kuntum taʿmalūn

37:40

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٤٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones,

illā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

37:41

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَهُمۡ رِزۡقࣱ مَّعۡلُومࣱ ۝٤١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

For them is a known sustenance,

ulāika lahum riz'qun maʿlūmu

37:42

فَوَ ٰكِهُ وَهُم مُّكۡرَمُونَ ۝٤٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

(Kinds of) fruits, and they shall be highly honoured,

fawākihu wahum muk'ramūn

37:43

فِی جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِیمِ ۝٤٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

In the gardens bountiful,

fī jannāti l-naʿīm

37:44

عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِینَ ۝٤٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Upon thrones facing each other.

yuṭāfu ʿalayhim bikasin min maʿīni

37:45

یُطَافُ عَلَیۡهِم بِكَأۡسࣲ مِّن مَّعِینِۭ ۝٤٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Round will go unto them a cup (of wine) from a clear spring,

Yutafu AAalayhim bika/sin min maAAeenin

37:46

بَیۡضَاۤءَ لَذَّةࣲ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِینَ ۝٤٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Crystal-white, delicious to the drinkers,

bayḍāa ladhatin lilshāribīn

37:47

لَا فِیهَا غَوۡلࣱ وَلَا هُمۡ عَنۡهَا یُنزَفُونَ ۝٤٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Free from headiness, nor will they suffer intoxication from it.

lā fīhā ghawlun walā hum ʿanhā yunzafūn

37:48

وَعِندَهُمۡ قَـٰصِرَ ٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ عِینࣱ ۝٤٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And with them will be chaste women; restraining their glances,

waʿindahum qāṣirātu l-ṭarfi ʿīnu

37:49

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَیۡضࣱ مَّكۡنُونࣱ ۝٤٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

As if they were (as white as) eggs (secured) hidden.

ka-annahunna bayḍun maknūnu

37:50

فَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ یَتَسَاۤءَلُونَ ۝٥٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other.

fa-aqbala baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin yatasāalūn

37:51

قَالَ قَاۤىِٕلࣱ مِّنۡهُمۡ إِنِّی كَانَ لِی قَرِینࣱ ۝٥١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

One of them will say: Verily I had an intimate companion (in the world),

qāla qāilun min'hum innī kāna lī qarīnu

37:52

یَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُصَدِّقِینَ ۝٥٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Who used to say: Are you really among the believers (of Hereafter)?

yaqūlu a-innaka lamina l-muṣadiqīn

37:53

أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِینُونَ ۝٥٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

When we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then in fact be brought in account?

a-idhā mit'nā wakunnā turāban waʿiẓāman a-innā lamadīnūn

37:54

قَالَ هَلۡ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ ۝٥٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

He says: Can you take a look?

qāla hal antum muṭṭaliʿūn

37:55

فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِی سَوَاۤءِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٥٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then he looks and sees him in the midst of Hell.

fa-iṭṭalaʿa faraāhu fī sawāi l-jaḥīm

37:56

قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرۡدِینِ ۝٥٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

He says: By Allah! You had almost caused me to perish;

qāla tal-lahi in kidtta latur'dīn

37:57

وَلَوۡلَا نِعۡمَةُ رَبِّی لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُحۡضَرِینَ ۝٥٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And had it not been the bounty of my Lord, certainly would I have been brought into (the Hell) .

walawlā niʿ'matu rabbī lakuntu mina l-muḥ'ḍarīn

37:58

أَفَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَیِّتِینَ ۝٥٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Is it that we do not die,

afamā naḥnu bimayyitīn

37:59

إِلَّا مَوۡتَتَنَا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِینَ ۝٥٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Save our first death; and we shall not be chastised?

illā mawtatanā l-ūlā wamā naḥnu bimuʿadhabīn

37:60

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِیمُ ۝٦٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily this is the mighty triumph,

inna hādhā lahuwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīm

37:61

لِمِثۡلِ هَـٰذَا فَلۡیَعۡمَلِ ٱلۡعَـٰمِلُونَ ۝٦١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And for the like of this let the workers work.

limith'li hādhā falyaʿmali l-ʿāmilūn

37:62

أَذَ ٰلِكَ خَیۡرࣱ نُّزُلًا أَمۡ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ ۝٦٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqq?m?

adhālika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratu l-zaqūm

37:63

إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَـٰهَا فِتۡنَةࣰ لِّلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝٦٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily We have appointed it as a trial for the unjust.

innā jaʿalnāhā fit'natan lilẓẓālimīn

37:64

إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةࣱ تَخۡرُجُ فِیۤ أَصۡلِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٦٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily, it is a tree that grows in the bottom of the Hell.

innahā shajaratun takhruju fī aṣli l-jaḥīm

37:65

طَلۡعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینِ ۝٦٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils,

ṭalʿuhā ka-annahu ruūsu l-shayāṭīn

37:66

فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنۡهَا فَمَالِءُونَ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡبُطُونَ ۝٦٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then verily they eat from it and fill (their bellies with it.

fa-innahum laākilūna min'hā famāliūna min'hā l-buṭūn

37:67

ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمۡ عَلَیۡهَا لَشَوۡبࣰا مِّنۡ حَمِیمࣲ ۝٦٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then verily on Top of it they will have a mixture made of boiling water.

thumma inna lahum ʿalayhā lashawban min ḥamīmi

37:68

ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرۡجِعَهُمۡ لَإِلَى ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٦٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then verily their return shall be unto the Hell.

thumma inna marjiʿahum la-ilā l-jaḥīm

37:69

إِنَّهُمۡ أَلۡفَوۡا۟ ءَابَاۤءَهُمۡ ضَاۤلِّینَ ۝٦٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily they found their fathers on the wrong path.

innahum alfaw ābāahum ḍāllīn

37:70

فَهُمۡ عَلَىٰۤ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمۡ یُهۡرَعُونَ ۝٧٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So in their footsteps they are being hastened on.

fahum ʿalā āthārihim yuh'raʿūn

37:71

وَلَقَدۡ ضَلَّ قَبۡلَهُمۡ أَكۡثَرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٧١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And indeed most of the ancient went astray before them.

walaqad ḍalla qablahum aktharu l-awalīn

37:72

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا فِیهِم مُّنذِرِینَ ۝٧٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And certainly We sent among them warners.

walaqad arsalnā fīhim mundhirīn

37:73

فَٱنظُرۡ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِینَ ۝٧٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then see how was the end of those warned,

fa-unẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mundharīn

37:74

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٧٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones.

illā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

37:75

وَلَقَدۡ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحࣱ فَلَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡمُجِیبُونَ ۝٧٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And indeed Noah did call upon Us, and the most excellent answerer (of prayer are We).

walaqad nādānā nūḥun falaniʿ'ma l-mujībūn

37:76

وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٧٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We delivered him and his people from the great distress,

wanajjaynāhu wa-ahlahu mina l-karbi l-ʿaẓīm

37:77

وَجَعَلۡنَا ذُرِّیَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلۡبَاقِینَ ۝٧٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We made (only) his progeny the survivors.

wajaʿalnā dhurriyyatahu humu l-bāqīn

37:78

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝٧٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We perpetuated to him (praise) among the later generations.

wataraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ākhirīn

37:79

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحࣲ فِی ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Peace be on Noah among the nations.

salāmun ʿalā nūḥin fī l-ʿālamīn

37:80

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝٨٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily thus do We recompense the doers of good.

innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

37:81

إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily he was (one) of Our faithful servants.

innahu min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn

37:82

ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝٨٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then We drowned the others.

thumma aghraqnā l-ākharīn

37:83

۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِیعَتِهِۦ لَإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝٨٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And verily Abraham was of his persuasion.

wa-inna min shīʿatihi la-ib'rāhīm

37:84

إِذۡ جَاۤءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلۡبࣲ سَلِیمٍ ۝٨٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

When he came unto his Lord with a sound (pure) heart.

idh jāa rabbahu biqalbin salīmi

37:85

إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٨٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

When he said to his father and his people: What is it that you worship?

idh qāla li-abīhi waqawmihi mādhā taʿbudūn

37:86

أَىِٕفۡكًا ءَالِهَةࣰ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِیدُونَ ۝٨٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Is it a falsehood gods other than Allah that you desire?

a-if'kan ālihatan dūna l-lahi turīdūn

37:87

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٨٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

What is then your idea about the Lord of the Worlds?

famā ẓannukum birabbi l-ʿālamīn

37:88

فَنَظَرَ نَظۡرَةࣰ فِی ٱلنُّجُومِ ۝٨٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then he glanced, casting glance at the stars,

fanaẓara naẓratan fī l-nujūm

37:89

فَقَالَ إِنِّی سَقِیمࣱ ۝٨٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then he said: Verily I am sick (and I cannot participate in your festival).

faqāla innī saqīmu

37:90

فَتَوَلَّوۡا۟ عَنۡهُ مُدۡبِرِینَ ۝٩٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So they went away from him, turning back.

fatawallaw ʿanhu mud'birīn

37:91

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰۤ ءَالِهَتِهِمۡ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأۡكُلُونَ ۝٩١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then he turned unto their gods secretly and (mockingly) said: Why do you not eat?

farāgha ilā ālihatihim faqāla alā takulūn

37:92

مَا لَكُمۡ لَا تَنطِقُونَ ۝٩٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

What is the matter with you that you do not speak?

mā lakum lā tanṭiqūn

37:93

فَرَاغَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ضَرۡبَۢا بِٱلۡیَمِینِ ۝٩٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then he turned against them in secret, striking (them) with the right hand.

farāgha ʿalayhim ḍarban bil-yamīn

37:94

فَأَقۡبَلُوۤا۟ إِلَیۡهِ یَزِفُّونَ ۝٩٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So they (people) advanced towards him hastening.

fa-aqbalū ilayhi yaziffūn

37:95

قَالَ أَتَعۡبُدُونَ مَا تَنۡحِتُونَ ۝٩٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

He said: Do you worship what you (yourselves) hew out?

qāla ataʿbudūna mā tanḥitūn

37:96

وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٩٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

While Allah has created you and what you make.

wal-lahu khalaqakum wamā taʿmalūn

37:97

قَالُوا۟ ٱبۡنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنۡیَـٰنࣰا فَأَلۡقُوهُ فِی ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝٩٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

They said: Build for him a furnace, then cast him into the burning fire .

qālū ib'nū lahu bun'yānan fa-alqūhu fī l-jaḥīm

37:98

فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَیۡدࣰا فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡأَسۡفَلِینَ ۝٩٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So they desired a plot against him, but We made them lower ones.

fa-arādū bihi kaydan fajaʿalnāhumu l-asfalīn

37:99

وَقَالَ إِنِّی ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّی سَیَهۡدِینِ ۝٩٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And he said: Verily, I am going unto my Lord, He will guide me .

waqāla innī dhāhibun ilā rabbī sayahdīn

37:100

رَبِّ هَبۡ لِی مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝١٠٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

My Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!

rabbi hab lī mina l-ṣāliḥīn

37:101

فَبَشَّرۡنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِیمࣲ ۝١٠١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy,

fabasharnāhu bighulāmin ḥalīmi

37:102

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعۡیَ قَالَ یَـٰبُنَیَّ إِنِّیۤ أَرَىٰ فِی ٱلۡمَنَامِ أَنِّیۤ أَذۡبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرۡ مَاذَا تَرَىٰۚ قَالَ یَـٰۤأَبَتِ ٱفۡعَلۡ مَا تُؤۡمَرُۖ سَتَجِدُنِیۤ إِن شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٠٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And when he (the son) reached (the age of working) with him he said: O my son! Verily I see in a dream that I shall sacrifice you. Now see what is your view. He said: O my father! Do what you are commanded; you will find me, Allah willing, of the patient ones .

falammā balagha maʿahu l-saʿya qāla yābunayya innī arā fī l-manāmi annī adhbaḥuka fa-unẓur mādhā tarā qāla yāabati if'ʿal mā tu'maru satajidunī in shāa l-lahu mina l-ṣābirīn

37:103

فَلَمَّاۤ أَسۡلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلۡجَبِینِ ۝١٠٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So when they both submitted (to Our command) and he (Abraham) laid him (the son) prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice),

falammā aslamā watallahu lil'jabīn

37:104

وَنَـٰدَیۡنَـٰهُ أَن یَـٰۤإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ ۝١٠٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We called out to him: O Abraham!

wanādaynāhu an yāib'rāhīm

37:105

قَدۡ صَدَّقۡتَ ٱلرُّءۡیَاۤۚ إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١٠٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Indeed you have proved true the dream; verily thus do We reward the doers of good!

qad ṣaddaqta l-ru'yā innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

37:106

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡبَلَـٰۤؤُا۟ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝١٠٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

This is indeed the manifest trial.

inna hādhā lahuwa l-balāu l-mubīn

37:107

وَفَدَیۡنَـٰهُ بِذِبۡحٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝١٠٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice.

wafadaynāhu bidhib'ḥin ʿaẓīmi

37:108

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝١٠٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We left (praise) for him among generations (to come) in later times.

wataraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ākhirīn

37:109

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝١٠٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Peace be on Abraham.

salāmun ʿalā ib'rāhīm

37:110

كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١١٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Thus do We recompense the doers of good,

kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

37:111

إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١١١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily he was (one) of Our believing servants.

innahu min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn

37:112

وَبَشَّرۡنَـٰهُ بِإِسۡحَـٰقَ نَبِیࣰّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝١١٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We gave him the glad tidings of Isaac, a prophet among the righteous ones.

wabasharnāhu bi-is'ḥāqa nabiyyan mina l-ṣāliḥīn

37:113

وَبَـٰرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ وَعَلَىٰۤ إِسۡحَـٰقَۚ وَمِن ذُرِّیَّتِهِمَا مُحۡسِنࣱ وَظَالِمࣱ لِّنَفۡسِهِۦ مُبِینࣱ ۝١١٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We bestowed Our blessings on him and on Isaac, and of their offspring are the doers of good, and (also) those who are clearly unjust to their own selves.

wabāraknā ʿalayhi waʿalā is'ḥāqa wamin dhurriyyatihimā muḥ'sinun waẓālimun linafsihi mubīnu

37:114

وَلَقَدۡ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ۝١١٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

We bestowed Our favour on Moses and Aaron.

walaqad manannā ʿalā mūsā wahārūn

37:115

وَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوۡمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝١١٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We delivered them both and their people from the great distress.

wanajjaynāhumā waqawmahumā mina l-karbi l-ʿaẓīm

37:116

وَنَصَرۡنَـٰهُمۡ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبِینَ ۝١١٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We helped them so that they were the victors (over their enemies).

wanaṣarnāhum fakānū humu l-ghālibīn

37:117

وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمَا ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَبِینَ ۝١١٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We gave them both the Book making things clear.

waātaynāhumā l-kitāba l-mus'tabīn

37:118

وَهَدَیۡنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَ ٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِیمَ ۝١١٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We guided them both on the right way.

wahadaynāhumā l-ṣirāṭa l-mus'taqīm

37:119

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمَا فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝١١٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We left (praise) for them both among the later generations.

wataraknā ʿalayhimā fī l-ākhirīn

37:120

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ۝١٢٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Peace be on Moses and Aaron.

salāmun ʿalā mūsā wahārūn

37:121

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١٢١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily thus do We reward the doers of good.

innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

37:122

إِنَّهُمَا مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٢٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily they were both of Our faithful servants,

innahumā min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn

37:123

وَإِنَّ إِلۡیَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٢٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And verily Ely?s was of the apostles.

wa-inna il'yāsa lamina l-mur'salīn

37:124

إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦۤ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٢٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

When he said to his people: Will you not be in owe (of Allah)?

idh qāla liqawmihi alā tattaqūn

37:125

أَتَدۡعُونَ بَعۡلࣰا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحۡسَنَ ٱلۡخَـٰلِقِینَ ۝١٢٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Do you call on Ba l and abandon the best of the creators?

atadʿūna baʿlan watadharūna aḥsana l-khāliqīn

37:126

ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمۡ وَرَبَّ ءَابَاۤىِٕكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٢٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Allah is your Lord and the Lord of fathers of old.

al-laha rabbakum warabba ābāikumu l-awalīn

37:127

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ ۝١٢٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

But they belied him, therefore they shall certainly be brought (to Hell).

fakadhabūhu fa-innahum lamuḥ'ḍarūn

37:128

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝١٢٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Except for Allah s sincere servants;

illā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

37:129

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝١٢٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We left (praise) for him among the later generations.

wataraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ākhirīn

37:130

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰۤ إِلۡ یَاسِینَ ۝١٣٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Peace be on Ily?sin (Ely?s).

salāmun ʿalā il yāsīn

37:131

إِنَّا كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ ۝١٣١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily thus do We reward the doers of good.

innā kadhālika najzī l-muḥ'sinīn

37:132

إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٣٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily he was (one) of Our faithful servants.

innahu min ʿibādinā l-mu'minīn

37:133

وَإِنَّ لُوطࣰا لَّمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٣٣

37:134

إِذۡ نَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥۤ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝١٣٤

idh najjaynāhu wa-ahlahu ajmaʿīn

37:135

إِلَّا عَجُوزࣰا فِی ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٣٥

illā ʿajūzan fī l-ghābirīn

37:136

ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝١٣٦

thumma dammarnā l-ākharīn

37:137

وَإِنَّكُمۡ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَیۡهِم مُّصۡبِحِینَ ۝١٣٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And verily you pass by them in the morning.

wa-innakum latamurrūna ʿalayhim muṣ'biḥīn

37:138

وَبِٱلَّیۡلِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝١٣٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And at night; do you not then understand?

wabi-al-layli afalā taʿqilūn

37:139

وَإِنَّ یُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٣٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily Jonah was (one) of the Envoys,

wa-inna yūnusa lamina l-mur'salīn

37:140

إِذۡ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ ۝١٤٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

When he ran away to the laden ship.

idh abaqa ilā l-ful'ki l-mashḥūn

37:141

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُدۡحَضِینَ ۝١٤١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So he cast lots, and was of the rebutted,

fasāhama fakāna mina l-mud'ḥaḍīn

37:142

فَٱلۡتَقَمَهُ ٱلۡحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِیمࣱ ۝١٤٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then the fish swallowed him while he blamed himself;

fal-taqamahu l-ḥūtu wahuwa mulīmu

37:143

فَلَوۡلَاۤ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحِینَ ۝١٤٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So had he not been of those that glorify Allah,

falawlā annahu kāna mina l-musabiḥīn

37:144

لَلَبِثَ فِی بَطۡنِهِۦۤ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُونَ ۝١٤٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

He would have tarried in its belly until the Day of Resurrection

lalabitha fī baṭnihi ilā yawmi yub'ʿathūn

37:145

۞ فَنَبَذۡنَـٰهُ بِٱلۡعَرَاۤءِ وَهُوَ سَقِیمࣱ ۝١٤٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick,

fanabadhnāhu bil-ʿarāi wahuwa saqīmu

37:146

وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ شَجَرَةࣰ مِّن یَقۡطِینࣲ ۝١٤٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We caused to grow over him a plant of gourds.

wa-anbatnā ʿalayhi shajaratan min yaqṭīni

37:147

وَأَرۡسَلۡنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلۡفٍ أَوۡ یَزِیدُونَ ۝١٤٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or more.

wa-arsalnāhu ilā mi-ati alfin aw yazīdūn

37:148

فَءَامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعۡنَـٰهُمۡ إِلَىٰ حِینࣲ ۝١٤٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment for a while.

faāmanū famattaʿnāhum ilā ḥīni

37:149

فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلۡبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلۡبَنُونَ ۝١٤٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then ask them whether your Lord has daughters and they have sons.

fa-is'taftihim alirabbika l-banātu walahumu l-banūn

37:150

أَمۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةَ إِنَـٰثࣰا وَهُمۡ شَـٰهِدُونَ ۝١٥٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses?

am khalaqnā l-malāikata ināthan wahum shāhidūn

37:151

أَلَاۤ إِنَّهُم مِّنۡ إِفۡكِهِمۡ لَیَقُولُونَ ۝١٥١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Beware! Verily it is of their own lie that they say.

alā innahum min if'kihim layaqūlūn

37:152

وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ۝١٥٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Allah has begotten, and verily they are liars.

walada l-lahu wa-innahum lakādhibūn

37:153

أَصۡطَفَى ٱلۡبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلۡبَنِینَ ۝١٥٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons?

aṣṭafā l-banāti ʿalā l-banīn

37:154

مَا لَكُمۡ كَیۡفَ تَحۡكُمُونَ ۝١٥٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

What has happened to you, how is it that you judge?

mā lakum kayfa taḥkumūn

37:155

أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝١٥٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Will you not then receive admonition?

afalā tadhakkarūn

37:156

أَمۡ لَكُمۡ سُلۡطَـٰنࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١٥٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Or have you a clear authority?

am lakum sul'ṭānun mubīnu

37:157

فَأۡتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٥٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then bring your book if you are truthful.

fatū bikitābikum in kuntum ṣādiqīn

37:158

وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَیۡنَهُۥ وَبَیۡنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ نَسَبࣰاۚ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمَتِ ٱلۡجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ ۝١٥٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And they have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn, while the jinn know (quite well) that they shall surely be brought up (to account).

wajaʿalū baynahu wabayna l-jinati nasaban walaqad ʿalimati l-jinatu innahum lamuḥ'ḍarūn

37:159

سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝١٥٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Glory be to Allah! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)!

sub'ḥāna l-lahi ʿammā yaṣifūn

37:160

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝١٦٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Except for Allah s sincere servants.

illā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

37:161

فَإِنَّكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝١٦١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So verily you and what you worship,

fa-innakum wamā taʿbudūn

37:162

مَاۤ أَنتُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ بِفَـٰتِنِینَ ۝١٦٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Can never excite (anyone) against Him.

mā antum ʿalayhi bifātinīn

37:163

إِلَّا مَنۡ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ ۝١٦٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire.

illā man huwa ṣāli l-jaḥīm

37:164

وَمَا مِنَّاۤ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامࣱ مَّعۡلُومࣱ ۝١٦٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And (the angels say:) There is not (any one) of us, but for him is an assigned place,

wamā minnā illā lahu maqāmun maʿlūmu

37:165

وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلصَّاۤفُّونَ ۝١٦٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And verily we are they who range ourselves in order.

wa-innā lanaḥnu l-ṣāfūn

37:166

وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحُونَ ۝١٦٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And verily we are they who celebrate His glory.

wa-innā lanaḥnu l-musabiḥūn

37:167

وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَیَقُولُونَ ۝١٦٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And verily they used to say:

wa-in kānū layaqūlūn

37:168

لَوۡ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكۡرࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٦٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

If we had had but a reminder from the men of old.

law anna ʿindanā dhik'ran mina l-awalīn

37:169

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝١٦٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

We would certainly have been Allah s sincere servants.

lakunnā ʿibāda l-lahi l-mukh'laṣīn

37:170

فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦۖ فَسَوۡفَ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١٧٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Then they disbelieved in it, so soon they will know.

fakafarū bihi fasawfa yaʿlamūn

37:171

وَلَقَدۡ سَبَقَتۡ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٧١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And certainly Our word has already gone forth for Our servants, the apostles:

walaqad sabaqat kalimatunā liʿibādinā l-mur'salīn

37:172

إِنَّهُمۡ لَهُمُ ٱلۡمَنصُورُونَ ۝١٧٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Verily they shall be the assisted ones.

innahum lahumu l-manṣūrūn

37:173

وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبُونَ ۝١٧٣

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And verily Our host alone shall be the victorious ones.

wa-inna jundanā lahumu l-ghālibūn

37:174

فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِینࣲ ۝١٧٤

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

So turn you away from them for a time,

fatawalla ʿanhum ḥattā ḥīni

37:175

وَأَبۡصِرۡهُمۡ فَسَوۡفَ یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝١٧٥

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And see them, for they soon shall see (their retribution)

wa-abṣir'hum fasawfa yub'ṣirūn

37:176

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ ۝١٧٦

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement?

afabiʿadhābinā yastaʿjilūn

37:177

فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمۡ فَسَاۤءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِینَ ۝١٧٧

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

But when it shall descend in their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of them that are warned!

fa-idhā nazala bisāḥatihim fasāa ṣabāḥu l-mundharīn

37:178

وَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِینࣲ ۝١٧٨

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And turn you away from them for a time.

watawalla ʿanhum ḥattā ḥīni

37:179

وَأَبۡصِرۡ فَسَوۡفَ یُبۡصِرُونَ ۝١٧٩

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And see you, for they shall soon see (their fate).

wa-abṣir fasawfa yub'ṣirūn

37:180

سُبۡحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلۡعِزَّةِ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ ۝١٨٠

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, far above that which they ascribe (unto Him).

sub'ḥāna rabbika rabbi l-ʿizati ʿammā yaṣifūn

37:181

وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٨١

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And peace be upon the messengers,

wasalāmun ʿalā l-mur'salīn

37:182

وَٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٨٢

Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli

And (all) praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

wal-ḥamdu lillahi rabbi l-ʿālamīn
