The Star 53:17

مَا زَاغَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ ۝١٧
mā zāgha l-baṣaru wamā ṭagh
62 Translations
His sight never wavered, nor was it too bold
the sight (of Muhammad) did not turn aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond limit
The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded
Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds
His sight neither wavered (to the concept of an ‘other’) nor did it transgress its limit (the observation of the reality did not lead him to become Pharaoh-like and deify himself)!
His eye did not waver nor did he look away.
The gaze did not swerve, nor did it overstep the bounds
The sight (of the Messenger) did not swerve (so that he looked elsewhere and saw something different), nor did it go wrong (so that he might have seen an illusion)
(When he saw the Divine Manifestation) his eye deviated not (from the certainty of the Truth) nor did it wander away (from the invincible faith on which he stood)
his eye swerved not; nor swept astray
the eyes (of Muhammad) did not turn aside and did not outreach.
His eyes did not blink while looking straight
His sight never deviated, nor did it go wrong
The sight (of the Prophet) did not swerve, nor did it exceed.
The sight swerved not nor wandered
The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits
The [Prophet Muhammad’s] sight did not wander nor did it [the sight] transgress.
his eye-sight turned not aside, neither did it wander
The eye did not swerve, nor did it exceed the limit (or was over bold or went wrong)
his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stra
His eye turned not aside, nor did it wander
The sight (of the recipient of Inspiration) did not move hither and thither, and it did not transgress the limits
The sight swerved not, nor was it defiant.
(The Prophet’s) sight never swerved or failed.
his eyes did not turn aside nor did they exceed the limit
His eye did not waver, nor did it stray
The eye turned not aside, nor did it exceed the limit
The sight neither deviated nor exceeded the limits.
The sight swerved not, nor did it transgres
His eye neither inclined aside nor overstepped the limit; (it gazed in ecstasy at Whom it was to gaze)
The eyes did not waver, nor go blind
The eyes did not waver, nor go blind
The eyes did not waver, nor go blind.
The eye sight/knowledge did not deviate/turn away, and (it) did not exceed the limit
[And withal,] the eye did not waver, nor yet did it stray
In no way did (his) beholding (i.e., the eyesight) swerve, and in no way was it inordinate
The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold
(Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood
The eye neither went wrong, nor did exceed the limit
(His) sight deviated not, neither did it transgress.
He (Muhammad, SAW) was not awe-struck, or aghast; nor did his eyes stray
(His) sight deviated not, neither did it transgress.
He -Muhammad- never turned aside, nor did he lose sight of anything he was meant to see at that site, nor did his mind's eyes wander here or there
his eyes didn’t wander nor turn to the side
The ˹Prophet’s˺ sight never wandered, nor did it overreach.
The eyes looked neither aside nor beyond.
his eyes did not wander, nor did they turn aside
The eyes did not waver, nor go blind.
The eye did not waver, nor did it exceed its limit.
The eye did not waver, nor did it exceed its limit.
The sight did not aberrate, nor did it transgress.
Yet, his sight wavered not and wandered not
The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit
The eye deviated not, nor did it wander
The gaze swerved not; nor did it transgress
The (Prophet’s) vision (of Angel Gabriel) was never broken and it did not go wrong
The sight didn’t swerve, nor did it overstep.
The sight did not waver, nor did it exceed
The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]
The eye deviated not nor was immoderate.
(His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong
