وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُ يَزَّكَّىٰ
Wama yudreeka laAAallahu yazzakka
for all you know, he might have grown in spirit
And how can you know? He might become pure (from sins)
How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed
What made you think that he will not grow in virtue
How do you know, perhaps he might be purified!
But how do you know? Perhaps he would be purified
And how do you know, maybe he would purify himself
What would inform you (O haughty one) but that he might grow in purity (by doing good deeds)
And what could make you (O Prophet!) know that he might purify himself
And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him
And how would you know? He may purify himself
How would you know that by attending to him and answering his questions he would not turn into a …
But how could you know whether he might be purified
But what could make yousg realize that perhaps he was seeking to purify himself,
But what should make thee know whether haply he may be purified
And what do you know, he may be of the pure
And for all that you know perhaps he may come to sanctify his soul.
And how dost thou know whether he shall peradventure be cleansed from his sins
And what would make you know that he would grow (spiritually
And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified
But what assured thee that he would not be cleansed by the Faith
And what shall make you realise, perchance he might become pure (of sins)
And what will cause thee to recognize so that perhaps he will purify himself
How do you [O Prophet] know whether he may have corrected himself?
How could you tell? He might have sought to purify himsel
How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself
And what would make thee know that he might purify himself
And what will make you realize that he might have purified himself,
And what do you know? He might reform [to become a righteous man]
And what do you know? Perhaps he would be purified (further owing to your attending to him)
And what makes you know, perhaps he is seeking to purif
And what makes you know, perhaps he is seeking to purify?
And what makes you know, perhaps he is seeking to purify?
And what makes you know/informs you maybe/perhaps he, he purifies/corrects (himself)
Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity
And what makes you (The prophet) realize whether he (The blind man (Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum) would possibly (try) to cleanse himself
What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace
You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself
What could tell you (O prophet about the prospects of the blind man?) May be, (if you had attended him properly,) he would have attained purity
How would you know? Probably he came you in order to be purified,
You don´t really know! Perhaps he would (shed his disbelief, and) grow in faith
How would you know? Probably he came to you seeking spiritual growth,
"You Muhammad do not know; he -the blind man- may well hug faith to his innermost thoughts and to his innermost being and commend his secret feelings to Allah
For all you know, he might have developed spiritually,
You never know ˹O Prophet˺, perhaps he may be purified,
And how can you tell that he might have purified himself,
How could you¹ tell? He might have sought to purify himself
How do you know? He may purify himself
For all you know, he might be seeking to purify himself?
For all you know, he might be seeking to purify himself?
And what cognize you.? Perhaps he might be refined.
And what would make you know that he might (spiritually) purify himself
How could you tell? He might have sought to purify himself.
How could you know that he might have grown in goodness
And what would make you know that he would purify himself
And what would make thee know that he would purify himself
And what would apprise thee? Perhaps he would purify himself
But what could tell you (O Prophet) but that he (the blind man) might by chance grow (in his understanding)
And what makes you know? Perhaps he might purify himself.
But how do you know? Perhaps he was seeking to purify himself
And how would you know? -- maybe he would grow in purit
But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purifie
And what would make you know perhaps he may purify himself,
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?
