1 The Qur'an is guarded
15:1 ›
۞ الۤرۚ تِلۡكَ ءَایَـٰتُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ وَقُرۡءَانࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝١
Amatul Rahman Omar
Alif Lam Ra - I am Allah, the All-Seeing. These are the verses of the perfect Book and of the Qur'an, that distinguishes the right from the wrong
alif-lam-ra til'ka āyātu l-kitābi waqur'ānin mubīni
15:2 ›
رُّبَمَا یَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوۡ كَانُوا۟ مُسۡلِمِینَ ۝٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
Often those who disbelieve (in the verses of this perfect Book) would wish they had been Muslims
rubamā yawaddu alladhīna kafarū law kānū mus'limīn
15:3 ›
ذَرۡهُمۡ یَأۡكُلُوا۟ وَیَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ وَیُلۡهِهِمُ ٱلۡأَمَلُۖ فَسَوۡفَ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
Leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let vain hopes beguile them, but they will soon know (the reality)
dharhum yakulū wayatamattaʿū wayul'hihimu l-amalu fasawfa yaʿlamūn
15:4 ›
وَمَاۤ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡیَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابࣱ مَّعۡلُومࣱ ۝٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
And never did We destroy a township but it had a decree made known
wamā ahlaknā min qaryatin illā walahā kitābun maʿlūmu
15:5 ›
مَّا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا یَسۡتَءۡخِرُونَ ۝٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
No people can outstrip its term and none can ever remain behind
mā tasbiqu min ummatin ajalahā wamā yastakhirūn
15:6 ›
وَقَالُوا۟ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِی نُزِّلَ عَلَیۡهِ ٱلذِّكۡرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجۡنُونࣱ ۝٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
And they say, `O you to whom this Reminder (- the Qur'an) has been revealed! you are a mad man indeed
waqālū yāayyuhā alladhī nuzzila ʿalayhi l-dhik'ru innaka lamajnūnu
15:7 ›
لَّوۡ مَا تَأۡتِینَا بِٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Why do you not bring the angels (for punishment) to us, if you are of the truthful?
law mā tatīnā bil-malāikati in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn
15:8 ›
مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوۤا۟ إِذࣰا مُّنظَرِینَ ۝٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
We send no angels until (the punishment becomes) rightly due and (when once We do send them) these (disbelievers) will not be the respited ones
mā nunazzilu l-malāikata illā bil-ḥaqi wamā kānū idhan munẓarīn
15:9 ›
إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَـٰفِظُونَ ۝٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
Verily, it was We, We Ourself Who have revealed this Reminder (- the Qur'an); and it is We Who are, most certainly, its Guardian
innā naḥnu nazzalnā l-dhik'ra wa-innā lahu laḥāfiẓūn
15:10 ›
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ فِی شِیَعِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
Indeed, We sent (Messengers) before you to the sects of the former peoples
walaqad arsalnā min qablika fī shiyaʿi l-awalīn
15:11 ›
وَمَا یَأۡتِیهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝١١
Amatul Rahman Omar
Yet not a single Messenger ever came to them but they treated him scornfully
wamā yatīhim min rasūlin illā kānū bihi yastahziūn
15:12 ›
كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَسۡلُكُهُۥ فِی قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝١٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
(Just as We made this a habit with the peoples gone by,) so do We cause this (tendency of scornful treatment) enter the minds of these people who sever their ties (with God)
kadhālika naslukuhu fī qulūbi l-muj'rimīn
15:13 ›
لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدۡ خَلَتۡ سُنَّةُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
They will not believe in this (Qur'an), though the precedence of the former peoples has already gone (before them showing how the opposition of truth makes them deserving of the punishment of God)
lā yu'minūna bihi waqad khalat sunnatu l-awalīn
15:14 ›
وَلَوۡ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم بَابࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ فَظَلُّوا۟ فِیهِ یَعۡرُجُونَ ۝١٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
And if We opened to them a gate of the heaven and they (-the angels) began ascending through it
walaw fataḥnā ʿalayhim bāban mina l-samāi faẓallū fīhi yaʿrujūn
15:15 ›
لَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتۡ أَبۡصَـٰرُنَا بَلۡ نَحۡنُ قَوۡمࣱ مَّسۡحُورُونَ ۝١٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
Even then these people would surely say, `Our eyes have only been dazed; rather We are a bewitched people.
laqālū innamā sukkirat abṣārunā bal naḥnu qawmun masḥūrūn
2 Evil will be destroyed
15:16 ›
وَلَقَدۡ جَعَلۡنَا فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ بُرُوجࣰا وَزَیَّنَّـٰهَا لِلنَّـٰظِرِینَ ۝١٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
We have indeed set up constellations in the heaven, and We have decked it fair for the beholders
walaqad jaʿalnā fī l-samāi burūjan wazayyannāhā lilnnāẓirīn
15:17 ›
وَحَفِظۡنَـٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَیۡطَـٰنࣲ رَّجِیمٍ ۝١٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We have guarded it against (the intrusion of) every rebellious rejected satan
waḥafiẓ'nāhā min kulli shayṭānin rajīmi
15:18 ›
إِلَّا مَنِ ٱسۡتَرَقَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
As to one who wishes to steal a hearing (of the revelation to distort it) a bright fiery flame pursues him
illā mani is'taraqa l-samʿa fa-atbaʿahu shihābun mubīnu
15:19 ›
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَـٰهَا وَأَلۡقَیۡنَا فِیهَا رَوَ ٰسِیَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِیهَا مِن كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ مَّوۡزُونࣲ ۝١٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
We have spread out and put fertilizers in the earth from outside, and set up firm mountains therein, and We have caused to grow upon it every suitable thing in due proportion
wal-arḍa madadnāhā wa-alqaynā fīhā rawāsiya wa-anbatnā fīhā min kulli shayin mawzūni
15:20 ›
وَجَعَلۡنَا لَكُمۡ فِیهَا مَعَـٰیِشَ وَمَن لَّسۡتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِرَ ٰزِقِینَ ۝٢٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We have provided in it means of livelihood for you and even for (all) others whom it is not for you to provide
wajaʿalnā lakum fīhā maʿāyisha waman lastum lahu birāziqīn
15:21 ›
وَإِن مِّن شَیۡءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَاۤىِٕنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥۤ إِلَّا بِقَدَرࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ ۝٢١
Amatul Rahman Omar
And there is not a thing but We have the vast treasures of it; and We do not send it down but according to a proper and prescribed measure
wa-in min shayin illā ʿindanā khazāinuhu wamā nunazziluhu illā biqadarin maʿlūmi
15:22 ›
وَأَرۡسَلۡنَا ٱلرِّیَـٰحَ لَوَ ٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَأَسۡقَیۡنَـٰكُمُوهُ وَمَاۤ أَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِخَـٰزِنِینَ ۝٢٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We send impregnating winds and pour water from the clouds and give it to you to drink. You are not the ones to store it up
wa-arsalnā l-riyāḥa lawāqiḥa fa-anzalnā mina l-samāi māan fa-asqaynākumūhu wamā antum lahu bikhāzinīn
15:23 ›
وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ نُحۡیِۦ وَنُمِیتُ وَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡوَ ٰرِثُونَ ۝٢٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
And surely it is We, Ourself Who give life and cause death; and it is We Who are the (sole) survivors (after every thing perishes)
wa-innā lanaḥnu nuḥ'yī wanumītu wanaḥnu l-wārithūn
15:24 ›
وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡتَقۡدِمِینَ مِنكُمۡ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡتَءۡخِرِینَ ۝٢٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
And indeed We know those among you who are the foremost in accepting the truth, and We indeed know those who are the laggards
walaqad ʿalim'nā l-mus'taqdimīna minkum walaqad ʿalim'nā l-mus'takhirīn
15:25 ›
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ یَحۡشُرُهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِیمٌ عَلِیمࣱ ۝٢٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
And certainly it is your Lord Who will gather them together; verily, He is All-Wise, All-Knowing
wa-inna rabbaka huwa yaḥshuruhum innahu ḥakīmun ʿalīmu
3 Devil's Opposition to Righteous
15:26 ›
وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ ۝٢٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
Surely, We created human being from dry ringing clay, (transformed) from black mud moulded into shape
walaqad khalaqnā l-insāna min ṣalṣālin min ḥama-in masnūni
15:27 ›
وَٱلۡجَاۤنَّ خَلَقۡنَـٰهُ مِن قَبۡلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِ ۝٢٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We created the jinn before (him) from the fire of intensely hot wind
wal-jāna khalaqnāhu min qablu min nāri l-samūm
15:28 ›
وَإِذۡ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةِ إِنِّی خَـٰلِقُۢ بَشَرࣰا مِّن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ ۝٢٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
And (recall the time) when your Lord said to the angels, `I am, indeed, going to create a human being from dry ringing clay (formed) from black mud, moulded into shape
wa-idh qāla rabbuka lil'malāikati innī khāliqun basharan min ṣalṣālin min ḥama-in masnūni
15:29 ›
فَإِذَا سَوَّیۡتُهُۥ وَنَفَخۡتُ فِیهِ مِن رُّوحِی فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَـٰجِدِینَ ۝٢٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
`So when I have shaped him in perfection and have breathed My revelation into him, fall you down in submission to him.
fa-idhā sawwaytuhu wanafakhtu fīhi min rūḥī faqaʿū lahu sājidīn
15:30 ›
فَسَجَدَ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ كُلُّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعُونَ ۝٣٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
And (when He created the human being,) the angels submitted, all of them together
fasajada l-malāikatu kulluhum ajmaʿūn
15:31 ›
إِلَّاۤ إِبۡلِیسَ أَبَىٰۤ أَن یَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ ۝٣١
Amatul Rahman Omar
But Iblis (though he was separately bidden to do the same, did not). He stubbornly refused to be with those who submit
illā ib'līsa abā an yakūna maʿa l-sājidīn
15:32 ›
قَالَ یَـٰۤإِبۡلِیسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ ۝٣٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
(Lord) said, `Iblis! what is (the reason) with you that you would not be with those who submit?
qāla yāib'līsu mā laka allā takūna maʿa l-sājidīn
15:33 ›
قَالَ لَمۡ أَكُن لِّأَسۡجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقۡتَهُۥ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ ۝٣٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
He replied, `I would never submit to a human being whom You have created from dry ringing clay (formed) from black mud, moulded into shape.
qāla lam akun li-asjuda libasharin khalaqtahu min ṣalṣālin min ḥama-in masnūni
15:34 ›
قَالَ فَٱخۡرُجۡ مِنۡهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِیمࣱ ۝٣٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
(Lord) said, `(If it is so) then get out from this (state), for, surely, you are rejected
qāla fa-ukh'ruj min'hā fa-innaka rajīmu
15:35 ›
وَإِنَّ عَلَیۡكَ ٱللَّعۡنَةَ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلدِّینِ ۝٣٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
`And of course (My) disapproval shall be on you till the Day of Requital.
wa-inna ʿalayka l-laʿnata ilā yawmi l-dīn
15:36 ›
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرۡنِیۤ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُونَ ۝٣٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
He said, `My Lord, then grant me respite till the day when these (human beings) shall be raised (to spiritual life).
qāla rabbi fa-anẓir'nī ilā yawmi yub'ʿathūn
15:37 ›
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنظَرِینَ ۝٣٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
(Lord) said, `You are indeed of those already granted respite
qāla fa-innaka mina l-munẓarīn
15:38 ›
إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلۡوَقۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡلُومِ ۝٣٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Till the day of which the time is known (to Me).
ilā yawmi l-waqti l-maʿlūm
15:39 ›
قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَاۤ أَغۡوَیۡتَنِی لَأُزَیِّنَنَّ لَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَأُغۡوِیَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٣٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
He said, `My Lord! since You have condemned me as astray (and erring), I will surely make (evil of straying from the straight path) fair-seeming to them (as long as they stay) on the earth; I shall seduce them all
qāla rabbi bimā aghwaytanī la-uzayyinanna lahum fī l-arḍi wala-ugh'wiyannahum ajmaʿīn
15:40 ›
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنۡهُمُ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٤٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Except your (sincere) servants from among them; (Your) chosen and purified ones, (whom I shall not be able to seduce).
illā ʿibādaka min'humu l-mukh'laṣīn
15:41 ›
قَالَ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطٌ عَلَیَّ مُسۡتَقِیمٌ ۝٤١
Amatul Rahman Omar
(Lord) said, `The path (that My sincere servants follow) leads straight to Me
qāla hādhā ṣirāṭun ʿalayya mus'taqīmu
15:42 ›
إِنَّ عِبَادِی لَیۡسَ لَكَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ سُلۡطَـٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡغَاوِینَ ۝٤٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
`As for My servants, you have no authority over them. Different, however, is the case of such of the deviators who (choose to) follow you
inna ʿibādī laysa laka ʿalayhim sul'ṭānun illā mani ittabaʿaka mina l-ghāwīn
15:43 ›
وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوۡعِدُهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٤٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
`And, of course, Gehenna is the promised place for such of them all
wa-inna jahannama lamawʿiduhum ajmaʿīn
15:44 ›
لَهَا سَبۡعَةُ أَبۡوَ ٰبࣲ لِّكُلِّ بَابࣲ مِّنۡهُمۡ جُزۡءࣱ مَّقۡسُومٌ ۝٤٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
`It has seven gates. Each gate shall have an assigned portion of them (who have gone astray)
lahā sabʿatu abwābin likulli bābin min'hum juz'on maqsūmu
4 Mercy for the Righteous — Abraham
15:45 ›
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونٍ ۝٤٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Surely, those who guard against evil and are dutiful (to Me and mankind) shall live amidst gardens and fountains
inna l-mutaqīna fī jannātin waʿuyūni
15:46 ›
ٱدۡخُلُوهَا بِسَلَـٰمٍ ءَامِنِینَ ۝٤٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
`(It will be said to them,) "Enter therein (to live) in peace (and be) secure".
ud'khulūhā bisalāmin āminīn
15:47 ›
وَنَزَعۡنَا مَا فِی صُدُورِهِم مِّنۡ غِلٍّ إِخۡوَ ٰنًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِینَ ۝٤٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We shall remove every vestige of rancour that may be in their hearts. They will be like brothers (seated cheerfully) on raised couches (of happiness), face to face
wanazaʿnā mā fī ṣudūrihim min ghillin ikh'wānan ʿalā sururin mutaqābilīn
15:48 ›
لَا یَمَسُّهُمۡ فِیهَا نَصَبࣱ وَمَا هُم مِّنۡهَا بِمُخۡرَجِینَ ۝٤٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
They shall suffer no fatigue, nor shall they ever be ejected from there
lā yamassuhum fīhā naṣabun wamā hum min'hā bimukh'rajīn
15:49 ›
۞ نَبِّئۡ عِبَادِیۤ أَنِّیۤ أَنَا ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٤٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
(O Prophet!) give My servants the important news that I - I alone - am most certainly the One Great Protector, the Ever Merciful
nabbi ʿibādī annī anā l-ghafūru l-raḥīm
15:50 ›
وَأَنَّ عَذَابِی هُوَ ٱلۡعَذَابُ ٱلۡأَلِیمُ ۝٥٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
And (also tell them) that My punishment is a very grievous one
wa-anna ʿadhābī huwa l-ʿadhābu l-alīm
15:51 ›
وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ عَن ضَیۡفِ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝٥١
Amatul Rahman Omar
And (also) give them the important news about Abraham's guests
wanabbi'hum ʿan ḍayfi ib'rāhīm
15:52 ›
إِذۡ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمࣰا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمۡ وَجِلُونَ ۝٥٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
When they entered upon him and greeted him saying, `Peace (be upon you)' he answered, `We feel afraid of you.
idh dakhalū ʿalayhi faqālū salāman qāla innā minkum wajilūn
15:53 ›
قَالُوا۟ لَا تَوۡجَلۡ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَـٰمٍ عَلِیمࣲ ۝٥٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
They said, `Have no fear, we give you good tidings of (the birth of) a son endowed with knowledge.
qālū lā tawjal innā nubashiruka bighulāmin ʿalīmi
15:54 ›
قَالَ أَبَشَّرۡتُمُونِی عَلَىٰۤ أَن مَّسَّنِیَ ٱلۡكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ ۝٥٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
He (-Abraham) said, `Do you give me the good tidings inspite of the fact that old age has come upon me. So on what (basis) are you giving (me this) good tidings.
qāla abashartumūnī ʿalā an massaniya l-kibaru fabima tubashirūn
15:55 ›
قَالُوا۟ بَشَّرۡنَـٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡقَـٰنِطِینَ ۝٥٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
They said, `We give you good tidings on the basis of (the revelation of) truth; therefore do not be of the despairing ones (of the mercy of Allah).
qālū basharnāka bil-ḥaqi falā takun mina l-qāniṭīn
15:56 ›
قَالَ وَمَن یَقۡنَطُ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ رَبِّهِۦۤ إِلَّا ٱلضَّاۤلُّونَ ۝٥٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
He said, `And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord, but the erring ones?
qāla waman yaqnaṭu min raḥmati rabbihi illā l-ḍālūn
15:57 ›
قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكُمۡ أَیُّهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝٥٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
He added, `O you messengers! what is your real business then?
qāla famā khaṭbukum ayyuhā l-mur'salūn
15:58 ›
قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّاۤ أُرۡسِلۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمࣲ مُّجۡرِمِینَ ۝٥٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
They said, `We have been sent to (destroy) a guilty people
qālū innā ur'sil'nā ilā qawmin muj'rimīn
15:59 ›
إِلَّاۤ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٥٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Excepting the followers of Lot (because they are not guilty). We shall invariably deliver them all
illā āla lūṭin innā lamunajjūhum ajmaʿīn
15:60 ›
إِلَّا ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرۡنَاۤ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝٦٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
`Excepting his wife, (of whom God says,) "We have decided that she (will not accompany those ordained to be delivered but) shall be really of those staying behind".
illā im'ra-atahu qaddarnā innahā lamina l-ghābirīn
5 Lot and Shu'aib
15:61 ›
فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝٦١

When the messengers came to Lot (and his) followers
falammā jāa āla lūṭin l-mur'salūn
15:62 ›
قَالَ إِنَّكُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ مُّنكَرُونَ ۝٦٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
(Lot) said, `Surely, you are an unknown people, I apprehend evil from you (because of your coming).
qāla innakum qawmun munkarūn
15:63 ›
قَالُوا۟ بَلۡ جِئۡنَـٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ فِیهِ یَمۡتَرُونَ ۝٦٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
They said, `(You need no apprehensions.) But we have come to you with (the news of) that (punishment) about (the truth of) which they doubted
qālū bal ji'nāka bimā kānū fīhi yamtarūn
15:64 ›
وَأَتَیۡنَـٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ ۝٦٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
`And we have come to you with sure news and most certainly we are truthful
wa-ataynāka bil-ḥaqi wa-innā laṣādiqūn
15:65 ›
فَأَسۡرِ بِأَهۡلِكَ بِقِطۡعࣲ مِّنَ ٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱتَّبِعۡ أَدۡبَـٰرَهُمۡ وَلَا یَلۡتَفِتۡ مِنكُمۡ أَحَدࣱ وَٱمۡضُوا۟ حَیۡثُ تُؤۡمَرُونَ ۝٦٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
`So set forth (from here) with your people in the (latter) part of the night and yourself following in their wake. Let none of you look about (and lag behind) but proceed to where you are commanded.
fa-asri bi-ahlika biqiṭ'ʿin mina al-layli wa-ittabiʿ adbārahum walā yaltafit minkum aḥadun wa-im'ḍū ḥaythu tu'marūn
15:66 ›
وَقَضَیۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِ ذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلۡأَمۡرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ مَقۡطُوعࣱ مُّصۡبِحِینَ ۝٦٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We appraised him (-Lot) with certainty that the roots (and last remnants) of these people are to be cut off when they rise at dawn
waqaḍaynā ilayhi dhālika l-amra anna dābira hāulāi maqṭūʿun muṣ'biḥīn
15:67 ›
وَجَاۤءَ أَهۡلُ ٱلۡمَدِینَةِ یَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ ۝٦٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
And the residents of the city came rejoicing (to the house of Lot)
wajāa ahlu l-madīnati yastabshirūn
15:68 ›
قَالَ إِنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ ضَیۡفِی فَلَا تَفۡضَحُونِ ۝٦٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
(Lot) said, `Surely, these are my guests, therefore do not put me to shame (by your disrespectful behaviour towards them)
qāla inna hāulāi ḍayfī falā tafḍaḥūn
15:69 ›
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخۡزُونِ ۝٦٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
`And keep your duty to Allah and disgrace me not.
wa-ittaqū l-laha walā tukh'zūn
15:70 ›
قَالُوۤا۟ أَوَ لَمۡ نَنۡهَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
They said, `Have we not told you not to entertain (all sorts of unknown) people?
qālū awalam nanhaka ʿani l-ʿālamīn
15:71 ›
قَالَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ بَنَاتِیۤ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَـٰعِلِینَ ۝٧١
Amatul Rahman Omar
He said, `Here are my daughters (as hostages to serve as a guarantee that the strangers will not make a mischief), if you must do something (to make any investigation against me).
qāla hāulāi banātī in kuntum fāʿilīn
15:72 ›
لَعَمۡرُكَ إِنَّهُمۡ لَفِی سَكۡرَتِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ ۝٧٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
(Prophet!) by your (holy) life and by your true faith these (your opponents) are (also) wandering distractedly in a fit of frenzy
laʿamruka innahum lafī sakratihim yaʿmahūn
15:73 ›
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ مُشۡرِقِینَ ۝٧٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
Then a dreadful punishment overtook these (opponents of Lot) at sunrise
fa-akhadhathumu l-ṣayḥatu mush'riqīn
15:74 ›
فَجَعَلۡنَا عَـٰلِیَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةࣰ مِّن سِجِّیلٍ ۝٧٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
We turned it (- the city) upside down, and rained upon the people petrified hard stones of clay (constantly)
fajaʿalnā ʿāliyahā sāfilahā wa-amṭarnā ʿalayhim ḥijāratan min sijjīli
15:75 ›
إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّلۡمُتَوَسِّمِینَ ۝٧٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
Surely, in this (narrative) there are many signs for such as can interpret (signs)
inna fī dhālika laāyātin lil'mutawassimīn
15:76 ›
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِیلࣲ مُّقِیمٍ ۝٧٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
And (the ruins of) these (townships) lie on a road that still exists (right on the highway between Arabia and Syria)
wa-innahā labisabīlin muqīmi
15:77 ›
إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٧٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
Behold! in this (narration) is indeed a sign for the believers
inna fī dhālika laāyatan lil'mu'minīn
15:78 ›
وَإِن كَانَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡأَیۡكَةِ لَظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٧٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
Certainly, the dwellers of the thicket (of Midian) were (also) a wrong doing people
wa-in kāna aṣḥābu l-aykati laẓālimīn
15:79 ›
فَٱنتَقَمۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٧٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
Therefore We inflicted punishment on them; and (the ruins of) both their cities (-the city of Sodomites and the city of Aikah) lie indeed on the open highway (traversed by the caravans from Hijaz to Syria)
fa-intaqamnā min'hum wa-innahumā labi-imāmin mubīni
6 Warning to Dwellers of Rock
15:80 ›
وَلَقَدۡ كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡحِجۡرِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝٨٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
And the dwellers of the Hijr (- a township of Thamud lying between Tabuk and Madinah, also) cried lies to the Messengers
walaqad kadhaba aṣḥābu l-ḥij'ri l-mur'salīn
15:81 ›
وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَا فَكَانُوا۟ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِینَ ۝٨١
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We gave them Our commandments but they were averse to them
waātaynāhum āyātinā fakānū ʿanhā muʿ'riḍīn
15:82 ›
وَكَانُوا۟ یَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُیُوتًا ءَامِنِینَ ۝٨٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
And they (in search of a life of peace and security,) used to hew some parts of the mountains into houses feeling secure (therein)
wakānū yanḥitūna mina l-jibāli buyūtan āminīn
15:83 ›
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ مُصۡبِحِینَ ۝٨٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
But the dreadful punishment overtook them in the morning
fa-akhadhathumu l-ṣayḥatu muṣ'biḥīn
15:84 ›
فَمَاۤ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡسِبُونَ ۝٨٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
So that all that they had accomplished was of no avail to them
famā aghnā ʿanhum mā kānū yaksibūn
15:85 ›
وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَاۤ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَءَاتِیَةࣱۖ فَٱصۡفَحِ ٱلصَّفۡحَ ٱلۡجَمِیلَ ۝٨٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between the two but to suit the requirements of truth and wisdom. And the (threatened) Hour (of punishment) is sure to come. So turn away from them with goodly grace
wamā khalaqnā l-samāwāti wal-arḍa wamā baynahumā illā bil-ḥaqi wa-inna l-sāʿata laātiyatun fa-iṣ'faḥi l-ṣafḥa l-jamīl
15:86 ›
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلۡخَلَّـٰقُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٨٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
Surely, it is your Lord Who is the Great Creator, the Possessor of perfect knowledge
inna rabbaka huwa l-khalāqu l-ʿalīm
15:87 ›
وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰكَ سَبۡعࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡمَثَانِی وَٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ٱلۡعَظِیمَ ۝٨٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
And infact We have given you the seven oft-recited (verses of Surah Al-Fatihah) and the Grand Qur'an
walaqad ātaynāka sabʿan mina l-mathānī wal-qur'āna l-ʿaẓīm
15:88 ›
لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَیۡنَیۡكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعۡنَا بِهِۦۤ أَزۡوَ ٰجࣰا مِّنۡهُمۡ وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
Extend not your eyes desirously towards the fleeting enjoyments We have bestowed on some classes (of people) among them, nor grieve over (this destruction of) them and be kind and gentle to the believers
lā tamuddanna ʿaynayka ilā mā mattaʿnā bihi azwājan min'hum walā taḥzan ʿalayhim wa-ikh'fiḍ janāḥaka lil'mu'minīn
15:89 ›
وَقُلۡ إِنِّیۤ أَنَا ٱلنَّذِیرُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝٨٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
And proclaim, `I am, indeed, the plain Warner (promised by God).
waqul innī anā l-nadhīru l-mubīn
15:90 ›
كَمَاۤ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡمُقۡتَسِمِینَ ۝٩٠
Amatul Rahman Omar
Since We (have decided to) send down (this revelation full of warnings) to those who have formed themselves into factions by taking oaths (against you)
kamā anzalnā ʿalā l-muq'tasimīn
15:91 ›
ٱلَّذِینَ جَعَلُوا۟ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ عِضِینَ ۝٩١
Amatul Rahman Omar
And who have pronounced the Qur'an to be a pack of lies
alladhīna jaʿalū l-qur'āna ʿiḍīn
15:92 ›
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسۡءَلَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٩٢
Amatul Rahman Omar
So by your Lord, We will surely question them all
fawarabbika lanasalannahum ajmaʿīn
15:93 ›
عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٩٣
Amatul Rahman Omar
About their (mis)deeds
fa-iṣ'daʿ bimā tu'maru wa-aʿriḍ ʿani l-mush'rikīn
15:94 ›
فَٱصۡدَعۡ بِمَا تُؤۡمَرُ وَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ ۝٩٤
Amatul Rahman Omar
Therefore declare openly what you are commanded (to deliver) and turn away from the polytheists
FaisdaAA bima tu/maru waaAArid AAani almushrikeena
15:95 ›
إِنَّا كَفَیۡنَـٰكَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَهۡزِءِینَ ۝٩٥
Amatul Rahman Omar
We do suffice you (to punish) those who treat (you) scornfully
innā kafaynāka l-mus'tahziīn
15:96 ›
ٱلَّذِینَ یَجۡعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَۚ فَسَوۡفَ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٩٦
Amatul Rahman Omar
Who set up an other god beside Allah; but they shall soon come to know (the consequences)
alladhīna yajʿalūna maʿa l-lahi ilāhan ākhara fasawfa yaʿlamūn
15:97 ›
وَلَقَدۡ نَعۡلَمُ أَنَّكَ یَضِیقُ صَدۡرُكَ بِمَا یَقُولُونَ ۝٩٧
Amatul Rahman Omar
And We know, indeed, that your mind is distressed because of (polytheistic things) that they say
walaqad naʿlamu annaka yaḍīqu ṣadruka bimā yaqūlūn
15:98 ›
فَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ ۝٩٨
Amatul Rahman Omar
So (the remedy of this distress is that you) glorify your Lord with all His true praise and be of those who prostrate themselves (before Him)
fasabbiḥ biḥamdi rabbika wakun mina l-sājidīn
15:99 ›
وَٱعۡبُدۡ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ یَأۡتِیَكَ ٱلۡیَقِینُ ۝٩٩
Amatul Rahman Omar
And go on worshipping your Lord until there comes to you that which is certain (and you breathe your last)
wa-uʿ'bud rabbaka ḥattā yatiyaka l-yaqīn
