Leave them alone to eat and enjoy (this life) and to please themselves: Let (their false) hope amuse them: Soon knowledge (and truth) will (wake them)

dharhum yakulū wayatamattaʿū wayul'hihimu l-amalu fasawfa yaʿlamūn

15:4

وَمَاۤ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡیَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابࣱ مَّعۡلُومࣱ ۝٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We never destroyed a population that did not have a term already decided (written) and allocated

wamā ahlaknā min qaryatin illā walahā kitābun maʿlūmu

15:5

مَّا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا یَسۡتَءۡخِرُونَ ۝٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And not any people can foresee its term, nor can they delay it

mā tasbiqu min ummatin ajalahā wamā yastakhirūn

15:6

وَقَالُوا۟ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِی نُزِّلَ عَلَیۡهِ ٱلذِّكۡرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجۡنُونࣱ ۝٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And they say: "O you to whom the Message is being revealed! You are truly mad (or possessed)

waqālū yāayyuhā alladhī nuzzila ʿalayhi l-dhik'ru innaka lamajnūnu

15:7

لَّوۡ مَا تَأۡتِینَا بِٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"Why will you not bring the angels to us if it is that you have the Truth?"

law mā tatīnā bil-malāikati in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn

15:8

مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوۤا۟ إِذࣰا مُّنظَرِینَ ۝٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

We do not send down the angels except with truth (for a valid cause): If they came (to the ungodly), look! No chance will they (the disbeliveers) have

mā nunazzilu l-malāikata illā bil-ḥaqi wamā kānū idhan munẓarīn

15:9

إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَـٰفِظُونَ ۝٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Without doubt, We have sent down the Message; And We will surely guard it (safely from evil)

innā naḥnu nazzalnā l-dhik'ra wa-innā lahu laḥāfiẓūn

15:10

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ فِی شِیَعِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And indeed, We sent (messengers) before you from the religious people of earlier communities

walaqad arsalnā min qablika fī shiyaʿi l-awalīn

15:11

وَمَا یَأۡتِیهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝١١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And never came to them a messenger whom they (the people) did not mock

wamā yatīhim min rasūlin illā kānū bihi yastahziūn

15:12

كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَسۡلُكُهُۥ فِی قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝١٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

But, We let it (evil) come into the hearts of the guilty

kadhālika naslukuhu fī qulūbi l-muj'rimīn

15:13

لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدۡ خَلَتۡ سُنَّةُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

That they should not believe in (the Message, the Quran); But (now) the ways of the old have passed away

lā yu'minūna bihi waqad khalat sunnatu l-awalīn

15:14

وَلَوۡ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم بَابࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ فَظَلُّوا۟ فِیهِ یَعۡرُجُونَ ۝١٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Even if We opened to them a gate from heaven, and they continued to climb in there

walaw fataḥnā ʿalayhim bāban mina l-samāi faẓallū fīhi yaʿrujūn

15:15

لَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتۡ أَبۡصَـٰرُنَا بَلۡ نَحۡنُ قَوۡمࣱ مَّسۡحُورُونَ ۝١٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been overpowered by magic."

laqālū innamā sukkirat abṣārunā bal naḥnu qawmun masḥūrūn

15:16

وَلَقَدۡ جَعَلۡنَا فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ بُرُوجࣰا وَزَیَّنَّـٰهَا لِلنَّـٰظِرِینَ ۝١٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And indeed, We have set out the Zodiacal Signs (for planets) in the heavens, and made them seem fair to the onlookers

walaqad jaʿalnā fī l-samāi burūjan wazayyannāhā lilnnāẓirīn

15:17

وَحَفِظۡنَـٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَیۡطَـٰنࣲ رَّجِیمٍ ۝١٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And (also) We have guarded them from every evil spirit that is cursed

waḥafiẓ'nāhā min kulli shayṭānin rajīmi

15:18

إِلَّا مَنِ ٱسۡتَرَقَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Except any that may gain a hearing by hiding away, is chased (out) by a flaming fire, bright (to see)

illā mani is'taraqa l-samʿa fa-atbaʿahu shihābun mubīnu

15:19

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَـٰهَا وَأَلۡقَیۡنَا فِیهَا رَوَ ٰسِیَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِیهَا مِن كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ مَّوۡزُونࣲ ۝١٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We have spread out the earth (flat); Placed mountains (on it) firm and immovable; And in it made all kinds of things in proper balance

wal-arḍa madadnāhā wa-alqaynā fīhā rawāsiya wa-anbatnā fīhā min kulli shayin mawzūni

15:20

وَجَعَلۡنَا لَكُمۡ فِیهَا مَعَـٰیِشَ وَمَن لَّسۡتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِرَ ٰزِقِینَ ۝٢٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And in it We have provided the means to live— For you and for those for whom you do not provide (the means to live)

wajaʿalnā lakum fīhā maʿāyisha waman lastum lahu birāziqīn

15:21

وَإِن مِّن شَیۡءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَاۤىِٕنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥۤ إِلَّا بِقَدَرࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ ۝٢١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And there is not a thing whose (unending) treasures are not with Us; And We only send down from there in correct and known measures

wa-in min shayin illā ʿindanā khazāinuhu wamā nunazziluhu illā biqadarin maʿlūmi

15:22

وَأَرۡسَلۡنَا ٱلرِّیَـٰحَ لَوَ ٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَأَسۡقَیۡنَـٰكُمُوهُ وَمَاۤ أَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِخَـٰزِنِینَ ۝٢٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We send the (water) bearing winds to fertilize, then We cause the rain to come down from the sky, and then give it (the rain) to you with water to drink, though you are not the keepers of its stores

wa-arsalnā l-riyāḥa lawāqiḥa fa-anzalnā mina l-samāi māan fa-asqaynākumūhu wamā antum lahu bikhāzinīn

15:23

وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ نُحۡیِۦ وَنُمِیتُ وَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡوَ ٰرِثُونَ ۝٢٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And surely, it is We Who give life, and Who give Death: It is We Who remain Inheritors (at the end)

wa-innā lanaḥnu nuḥ'yī wanumītu wanaḥnu l-wārithūn

15:24

وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡتَقۡدِمِینَ مِنكُمۡ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡتَءۡخِرِینَ ۝٢٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And indeed, We know the first generation of you who have past away, and indeed, We know the present generation of you and also those who will come later

walaqad ʿalim'nā l-mus'taqdimīna minkum walaqad ʿalim'nā l-mus'takhirīn

15:25

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ یَحۡشُرُهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِیمٌ عَلِیمࣱ ۝٢٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Surely it is your Lord Who will bring them together: Truly, He is All Wise (Hakeem) and All Knowing (Aleem)

wa-inna rabbaka huwa yaḥshuruhum innahu ḥakīmun ʿalīmu

15:26

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ ۝٢٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And indeed, We created man from dried clay (earth) that is capable of making sounds, from mud cast into shapes

walaqad khalaqnā l-insāna min ṣalṣālin min ḥama-in masnūni

15:27

وَٱلۡجَاۤنَّ خَلَقۡنَـٰهُ مِن قَبۡلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِ ۝٢٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And (the race of) jinns', which We had created before, from the smokeless flames (of fire)

wal-jāna khalaqnāhu min qablu min nāri l-samūm

15:28

وَإِذۡ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةِ إِنِّی خَـٰلِقُۢ بَشَرࣰا مِّن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ ۝٢٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And remember! Your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create man, from dried sounding clay from mud cast into shape

wa-idh qāla rabbuka lil'malāikati innī khāliqun basharan min ṣalṣālin min ḥama-in masnūni

15:29

فَإِذَا سَوَّیۡتُهُۥ وَنَفَخۡتُ فِیهِ مِن رُّوحِی فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَـٰجِدِینَ ۝٢٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"So, when I have fashioned him (Adam, the first man) in the his proper measures and breathed into him (Adam), the soul that I (Allah) created for him, then you (angels) fall down prostrate (in a show of respect) for him."

fa-idhā sawwaytuhu wanafakhtu fīhi min rūḥī faqaʿū lahu sājidīn

15:30

فَسَجَدَ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ كُلُّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعُونَ ۝٣٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together

fasajada l-malāikatu kulluhum ajmaʿūn

15:31

إِلَّاۤ إِبۡلِیسَ أَبَىٰۤ أَن یَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ ۝٣١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Except Satan, [the chief of the (evil) jinn race], he refused to be amongst who prostrated themselves

illā ib'līsa abā an yakūna maʿa l-sājidīn

15:32

قَالَ یَـٰۤإِبۡلِیسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ ۝٣٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(Allah) said: "O Satan! What is the reason for not being from those who prostrated themselves?"

qāla yāib'līsu mā laka allā takūna maʿa l-sājidīn

15:33

قَالَ لَمۡ أَكُن لِّأَسۡجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقۡتَهُۥ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ ۝٣٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(Satan) said:" I am not one to prostrate myself to man, (a mere human) whom You (Allah) created from sounding clay; From mud cast into shape."

qāla lam akun li-asjuda libasharin khalaqtahu min ṣalṣālin min ḥama-in masnūni

15:34

قَالَ فَٱخۡرُجۡ مِنۡهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِیمࣱ ۝٣٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(Allah) said: "Then you get out from here; For (this) verily, you are an outcaste and cursed

qāla fa-ukh'ruj min'hā fa-innaka rajīmu

15:35

وَإِنَّ عَلَیۡكَ ٱللَّعۡنَةَ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلدِّینِ ۝٣٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"And surely! The curse shall be on you till the Day of Recompense (Judgment)."

wa-inna ʿalayka l-laʿnata ilā yawmi l-dīn

15:36

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرۡنِیۤ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُونَ ۝٣٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(Satan) said: "O Lord! Give me then relief (and time) till the Day the (dead) are raised."

qāla rabbi fa-anẓir'nī ilā yawmi yub'ʿathūn

15:37

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنظَرِینَ ۝٣٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(Allah) said: "To you relief is granted—

qāla fa-innaka mina l-munẓarīn

15:38

إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلۡوَقۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡلُومِ ۝٣٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"Till the Day of the Time appointed."

ilā yawmi l-waqti l-maʿlūm

15:39

قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَاۤ أَغۡوَیۡتَنِی لَأُزَیِّنَنَّ لَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَأُغۡوِیَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٣٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(Satan) said: ""O Lord! Because You have put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) seem fair to them (the humans) on the Earth, and I will put them all in the wrong—

qāla rabbi bimā aghwaytanī la-uzayyinanna lahum fī l-arḍi wala-ugh'wiyannahum ajmaʿīn

15:40

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنۡهُمُ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٤٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"Except Your servants among them, truthful and purified (by You)."

illā ʿibādaka min'humu l-mukh'laṣīn

15:41

قَالَ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطٌ عَلَیَّ مُسۡتَقِیمٌ ۝٤١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(Allah) said: "This (truth and purification) is indeed (the Straight Path), a Way that reaches Straight to Me

qāla hādhā ṣirāṭun ʿalayya mus'taqīmu

15:42

إِنَّ عِبَادِی لَیۡسَ لَكَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ سُلۡطَـٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡغَاوِینَ ۝٤٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"Certainly, you shall have no power over My servants except those who keep themselves in the wrong by following you."

inna ʿibādī laysa laka ʿalayhim sul'ṭānun illā mani ittabaʿaka mina l-ghāwīn

15:43

وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوۡعِدُهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٤٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And surely, Hell is the promised home for them all

wa-inna jahannama lamawʿiduhum ajmaʿīn

15:44

لَهَا سَبۡعَةُ أَبۡوَ ٰبࣲ لِّكُلِّ بَابࣲ مِّنۡهُمۡ جُزۡءࣱ مَّقۡسُومٌ ۝٤٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

To it are seven gates: For each of those gates there is a class (of sinners) assigned

lahā sabʿatu abwābin likulli bābin min'hum juz'on maqsūmu

15:45

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونٍ ۝٤٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Truly, the righteous (ones will be) in the Gardens and fountains

inna l-mutaqīna fī jannātin waʿuyūni

15:46

ٱدۡخُلُوهَا بِسَلَـٰمٍ ءَامِنِینَ ۝٤٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(Their greeting will be) : "You enter here in (total) peace and security."

ud'khulūhā bisalāmin āminīn

15:47

وَنَزَعۡنَا مَا فِی صُدُورِهِم مِّنۡ غِلٍّ إِخۡوَ ٰنًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِینَ ۝٤٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And from their hearts, We shall remove any left over sense of pain and injury: (Like) brothers (happily) facing each other on thrones (of dignity)

wanazaʿnā mā fī ṣudūrihim min ghillin ikh'wānan ʿalā sururin mutaqābilīn

15:48

لَا یَمَسُّهُمۡ فِیهَا نَصَبࣱ وَمَا هُم مِّنۡهَا بِمُخۡرَجِینَ ۝٤٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

In there, sense of being tired will not come to them, and they will never be asked to leave

lā yamassuhum fīhā naṣabun wamā hum min'hā bimukh'rajīn

15:49

۞ نَبِّئۡ عِبَادِیۤ أَنِّیۤ أَنَا ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٤٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Tell My servants that I am indeed the Often Forgiving (Al-Ghafoor), the Most Merciful (Ar-Raheem)

nabbi ʿibādī annī anā l-ghafūru l-raḥīm

15:50

وَأَنَّ عَذَابِی هُوَ ٱلۡعَذَابُ ٱلۡأَلِیمُ ۝٥٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And that My Penalty will (also) be indeed the most painful penalty

wa-anna ʿadhābī huwa l-ʿadhābu l-alīm

15:51

وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ عَن ضَیۡفِ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝٥١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Tell them about the (angels) guests of Ibrahim (Abraham)

wanabbi'hum ʿan ḍayfi ib'rāhīm

15:52

إِذۡ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمࣰا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمۡ وَجِلُونَ ۝٥٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

When they entered his presence and said: "Peace!" He said, "Indeed, we feel afraid of you!"

idh dakhalū ʿalayhi faqālū salāman qāla innā minkum wajilūn

15:53

قَالُوا۟ لَا تَوۡجَلۡ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَـٰمٍ عَلِیمࣲ ۝٥٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They said: "Do not fear! We bring the happy news of a son blessed with wisdom."

qālū lā tawjal innā nubashiruka bighulāmin ʿalīmi

15:54

قَالَ أَبَشَّرۡتُمُونِی عَلَىٰۤ أَن مَّسَّنِیَ ٱلۡكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ ۝٥٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

He said: "Do you give me the happy news that old age has come over me? Then about what is your good news?"

qāla abashartumūnī ʿalā an massaniya l-kibaru fabima tubashirūn

15:55

قَالُوا۟ بَشَّرۡنَـٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡقَـٰنِطِینَ ۝٥٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They said: "We give you the happy news in truth: Then do not despair!"

qālū basharnāka bil-ḥaqi falā takun mina l-qāniṭīn

15:56

قَالَ وَمَن یَقۡنَطُ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ رَبِّهِۦۤ إِلَّا ٱلضَّاۤلُّونَ ۝٥٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

He said: "And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord, except those who go astray?"

qāla waman yaqnaṭu min raḥmati rabbihi illā l-ḍālūn

15:57

قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكُمۡ أَیُّهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝٥٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Ibrahim (Abraham) said: "Then what is the (other) business on which you (have come), O you messengers (of Allah)?"

qāla famā khaṭbukum ayyuhā l-mur'salūn

15:58

قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّاۤ أُرۡسِلۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمࣲ مُّجۡرِمِینَ ۝٥٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They said: "We have been sent to a people in guilt and sin

qālū innā ur'sil'nā ilā qawmin muj'rimīn

15:59

إِلَّاۤ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٥٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"Excepting the followers of Lut (Lot): We are certainly to save them (from harm), all—

illā āla lūṭin innā lamunajjūhum ajmaʿīn

15:60

إِلَّا ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرۡنَاۤ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝٦٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"Except his wife, who, we have known, will be from those who will remain behind."

illā im'ra-atahu qaddarnā innahā lamina l-ghābirīn

15:61

فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝٦١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Then the messengers (the angels) came to the family of Lut

falammā jāa āla lūṭin l-mur'salūn

15:62

قَالَ إِنَّكُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ مُّنكَرُونَ ۝٦٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

He said: "You seem to be unknown (unusual) people."

qāla innakum qawmun munkarūn

15:63

قَالُوا۟ بَلۡ جِئۡنَـٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ فِیهِ یَمۡتَرُونَ ۝٦٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They said: "Yes, we have come to you with the penalty to complete that about which they doubt

qālū bal ji'nāka bimā kānū fīhi yamtarūn

15:64

وَأَتَیۡنَـٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ ۝٦٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"And we have brought to you the truth (the destruction that is about to take place), and surely we tell the truth

wa-ataynāka bil-ḥaqi wa-innā laṣādiqūn

15:65

فَأَسۡرِ بِأَهۡلِكَ بِقِطۡعࣲ مِّنَ ٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱتَّبِعۡ أَدۡبَـٰرَهُمۡ وَلَا یَلۡتَفِتۡ مِنكُمۡ أَحَدࣱ وَٱمۡضُوا۟ حَیۡثُ تُؤۡمَرُونَ ۝٦٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"Then (you) travel with your household, when a portion of the night (still remains), and you go behind in the rear: And let no one from you look back, but go on to where you are ordered."

fa-asri bi-ahlika biqiṭ'ʿin mina al-layli wa-ittabiʿ adbārahum walā yaltafit minkum aḥadun wa-im'ḍū ḥaythu tu'marūn

15:66

وَقَضَیۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِ ذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلۡأَمۡرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ مَقۡطُوعࣱ مُّصۡبِحِینَ ۝٦٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We made known this decree (order) to him that the last remaining of those (sinners) should be left behind by the early morning

waqaḍaynā ilayhi dhālika l-amra anna dābira hāulāi maqṭūʿun muṣ'biḥīn

15:67

وَجَاۤءَ أَهۡلُ ٱلۡمَدِینَةِ یَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ ۝٦٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And the people of the city (with its evil ways) rushed over in (perverse and sinful) joy (at news of the young men as the messengers.

wajāa ahlu l-madīnati yastabshirūn

15:68

قَالَ إِنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ ضَیۡفِی فَلَا تَفۡضَحُونِ ۝٦٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

[Lut, (Lot)] said: "Verily, these are my guests: And so do not shame me

qāla inna hāulāi ḍayfī falā tafḍaḥūn

15:69

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخۡزُونِ ۝٦٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

"And fear Allah, and do not disgrace me."

wa-ittaqū l-laha walā tukh'zūn

15:70

قَالُوۤا۟ أَوَ لَمۡ نَنۡهَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

They said (to Lut): "Did we not forbid you to host and entertain any of the righteous (away from us)?"

qālū awalam nanhaka ʿani l-ʿālamīn

15:71

قَالَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ بَنَاتِیۤ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَـٰعِلِینَ ۝٧١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(Lut) said: "These are my daughters (to marry), if you must act (so perversely)."

qāla hāulāi banātī in kuntum fāʿilīn

15:72

لَعَمۡرُكَ إِنَّهُمۡ لَفِی سَكۡرَتِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ ۝٧٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Surely, by your life (O Prophet), in their wild misled condition (of intoxication), they wander distracted back and forth

laʿamruka innahum lafī sakratihim yaʿmahūn

15:73

فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ مُشۡرِقِینَ ۝٧٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

But the Blast (an explosion) overtook them (the Lut people) before morning

fa-akhadhathumu l-ṣayḥatu mush'riqīn

15:74

فَجَعَلۡنَا عَـٰلِیَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةࣰ مِّن سِجِّیلٍ ۝٧٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We turned upside down (the cities of Sodom), and rained down on them brimstones (yellow sulfurous stones) hard as baked clay

fajaʿalnā ʿāliyahā sāfilahā wa-amṭarnā ʿalayhim ḥijāratan min sijjīli

15:75

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّلۡمُتَوَسِّمِینَ ۝٧٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Surely! In this (story of Lut) there are Signs for those who understand by tokens

inna fī dhālika laāyātin lil'mutawassimīn

15:76

وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِیلࣲ مُّقِیمٍ ۝٧٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And (the cities were) right on the high-road (between Arabia and Syria)

wa-innahā labisabīlin muqīmi

15:77

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٧٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Surely! In this (story of the cities) there is a Sign for those who believe

inna fī dhālika laāyatan lil'mu'minīn

15:78

وَإِن كَانَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡأَیۡكَةِ لَظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٧٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And the people of the Woods were also wrongdoers

wa-in kāna aṣḥābu l-aykati laẓālimīn

15:79

فَٱنتَقَمۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٧٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

So, We gave their due (punishment) to them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see

fa-intaqamnā min'hum wa-innahumā labi-imāmin mubīni

15:80

وَلَقَدۡ كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡحِجۡرِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝٨٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And verily, the companions of the Rocky Trail also rejected the messengers

walaqad kadhaba aṣḥābu l-ḥij'ri l-mur'salīn

15:81

وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَا فَكَانُوا۟ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِینَ ۝٨١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We sent them Our Signs, but they continued to turn away from them

waātaynāhum āyātinā fakānū ʿanhā muʿ'riḍīn

15:82

وَكَانُوا۟ یَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُیُوتًا ءَامِنِینَ ۝٨٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And they cut out large houses out of the mountains, (trying to become safe and) secure

wakānū yanḥitūna mina l-jibāli buyūtan āminīn

15:83

فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ مُصۡبِحِینَ ۝٨٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

But the blast (explosion) overtook them on, early in the morning

fa-akhadhathumu l-ṣayḥatu muṣ'biḥīn

15:84

فَمَاۤ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡسِبُونَ ۝٨٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And what they had (built with so much care and) done was of no use to them

famā aghnā ʿanhum mā kānū yaksibūn

15:85

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَاۤ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَءَاتِیَةࣱۖ فَٱصۡفَحِ ٱلصَّفۡحَ ٱلۡجَمِیلَ ۝٨٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We did not create the heavens and the earth, and all between them, except for just ends and the (final) Hour is surely coming. So, overlook (their faults) with kind forgiveness

wamā khalaqnā l-samāwāti wal-arḍa wamā baynahumā illā bil-ḥaqi wa-inna l-sāʿata laātiyatun fa-iṣ'faḥi l-ṣafḥa l-jamīl

15:86

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلۡخَلَّـٰقُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٨٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Surely! Your Lord is the Master-Creator (Al-Khaliq), All Knowing (Aleem)

inna rabbaka huwa l-khalāqu l-ʿalīm

15:87

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰكَ سَبۡعࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡمَثَانِی وَٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ٱلۡعَظِیمَ ۝٨٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And We have blessed upon you (O Prophet) the Seven often repeated (verses, the Ayat of Sura 1 in Surath Al-Fatiha) and Quran, the Great (Book)

walaqad ātaynāka sabʿan mina l-mathānī wal-qur'āna l-ʿaẓīm

15:88

لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَیۡنَیۡكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعۡنَا بِهِۦۤ أَزۡوَ ٰجࣰا مِّنۡهُمۡ وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Do not (longingly) look with your eyes at what We have gifted some of their groups, and do not feel sad for them: But lower your arm (in respect and kindness) to the believers

lā tamuddanna ʿaynayka ilā mā mattaʿnā bihi azwājan min'hum walā taḥzan ʿalayhim wa-ikh'fiḍ janāḥaka lil'mu'minīn

15:89

وَقُلۡ إِنِّیۤ أَنَا ٱلنَّذِیرُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝٨٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And say: "I am indeed he who warns openly and without uncertainty,"—

waqul innī anā l-nadhīru l-mubīn

15:90

كَمَاۤ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡمُقۡتَسِمِینَ ۝٩٠

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(Anger) as We have sent down on those who have divided (the Word of Allah in parts as they please)—

kamā anzalnā ʿalā l-muq'tasimīn

15:91

ٱلَّذِینَ جَعَلُوا۟ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ عِضِینَ ۝٩١

Syed Vickar Ahamed

(Also on those who) have made the Quran into tiny sections (to accept or reject as they please)

alladhīna jaʿalū l-qur'āna ʿiḍīn

15:92

فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسۡءَلَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٩٢

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Therefore, by your Lord, surely, We will call them to account

fawarabbika lanasalannahum ajmaʿīn

15:93

عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٩٣

Syed Vickar Ahamed

For all of what they used to do

fa-iṣ'daʿ bimā tu'maru wa-aʿriḍ ʿani l-mush'rikīn

15:94

فَٱصۡدَعۡ بِمَا تُؤۡمَرُ وَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ ۝٩٤

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Therefore explain openly what you are commanded, and turn away from those idolaters (who join false gods with Allah)

FaisdaAA bima tu/maru waaAArid AAani almushrikeena

15:95

إِنَّا كَفَیۡنَـٰكَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَهۡزِءِینَ ۝٩٥

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Because We are enough for you against those who show contempt and mock—

innā kafaynāka l-mus'tahziīn

15:96

ٱلَّذِینَ یَجۡعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَۚ فَسَوۡفَ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٩٦

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Those who take up another god with Allah, but soon they will come to know (the Truth)

alladhīna yajʿalūna maʿa l-lahi ilāhan ākhara fasawfa yaʿlamūn

15:97

وَلَقَدۡ نَعۡلَمُ أَنَّكَ یَضِیقُ صَدۡرُكَ بِمَا یَقُولُونَ ۝٩٧

Syed Vickar Ahamed

Indeed, We know how your breast (heart) becomes tight (and feels sad) at what they say

walaqad naʿlamu annaka yaḍīqu ṣadruka bimā yaqūlūn

15:98

فَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ ۝٩٨

Syed Vickar Ahamed

So, celebrate the Praise of your Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in sincere love (for Allah)

fasabbiḥ biḥamdi rabbika wakun mina l-sājidīn

15:99

وَٱعۡبُدۡ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ یَأۡتِیَكَ ٱلۡیَقِینُ ۝٩٩

Syed Vickar Ahamed

And worship your Lord till the Hour that is certain (death), comes to you

wa-uʿ'bud rabbaka ḥattā yatiyaka l-yaqīn
