The Rock, Stoneland, Rock City — Dr Mohammad Tahir Ul Qadri Translation

Alif, Lam, Ra. (Only Allah and the Messenger [blessings and peace be upon him] know the real meaning.) These are the Verses of the (Glorious) Book and the Enlightening Qur’an

alif-lam-ra til'ka āyātu l-kitābi waqur'ānin mubīni

15:2

رُّبَمَا یَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوۡ كَانُوا۟ مُسۡلِمِینَ ۝٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(Watching the scenes of Allah’s mercy on the believers in the Hereafter,) the disbelievers will persistently aspire: would that they were Muslims

rubamā yawaddu alladhīna kafarū law kānū mus'limīn

15:3

ذَرۡهُمۡ یَأۡكُلُوا۟ وَیَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ وَیُلۡهِهِمُ ٱلۡأَمَلُۖ فَسَوۡفَ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(Feel not aggrieved.) Leave them. Let them eat (and drink) and make merry and let (their) false hopes keep them negligent (of the Hereafter). Then they will come to know (their end) soon

dharhum yakulū wayatamattaʿū wayul'hihimu l-amalu fasawfa yaʿlamūn

15:4

وَمَاۤ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡیَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابࣱ مَّعۡلُومࣱ ۝٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And never have We destroyed any township, except that there was for them a known inscription (law, which they violated and met their fate)

wamā ahlaknā min qaryatin illā walahā kitābun maʿlūmu

15:5

مَّا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا یَسۡتَءۡخِرُونَ ۝٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

No people can go beyond their appointed term, nor can they step back (under the law of rise and fall)

mā tasbiqu min ummatin ajalahā wamā yastakhirūn

15:6

وَقَالُوا۟ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِی نُزِّلَ عَلَیۡهِ ٱلذِّكۡرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجۡنُونࣱ ۝٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And (the disbelievers) say (insolently): ‘O man on whom this Qur’an has been revealed, indeed you are insane

waqālū yāayyuhā alladhī nuzzila ʿalayhi l-dhik'ru innaka lamajnūnu

15:7

لَّوۡ مَا تَأۡتِینَا بِٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Why do you not bring us angels if you are truthful?

law mā tatīnā bil-malāikati in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn

15:8

مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوۤا۟ إِذࣰا مُّنظَرِینَ ۝٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

We do not send down angels but with the (judgment of) truth (i.e., We send them down to execute the torment when its time approaches), and they are not granted respite at that time

mā nunazzilu l-malāikata illā bil-ḥaqi wamā kānū idhan munẓarīn

15:9

إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَـٰفِظُونَ ۝٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Assuredly, We alone have revealed this Glorious Admonition (the Qur’an), and surely We alone will guard it

innā naḥnu nazzalnā l-dhik'ra wa-innā lahu laḥāfiẓūn

15:10

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ فِی شِیَعِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We indeed sent Messengers before you as well amongst the earlier generations

walaqad arsalnā min qablika fī shiyaʿi l-awalīn

15:11

وَمَا یَأۡتِیهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝١١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And there did not come to them any Messenger but they would mock him

wamā yatīhim min rasūlin illā kānū bihi yastahziūn

15:12

كَذَ ٰلِكَ نَسۡلُكُهُۥ فِی قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝١٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

That is how We infuse this (mockery and ridicule) into the hearts of the sinners

kadhālika naslukuhu fī qulūbi l-muj'rimīn

15:13

لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدۡ خَلَتۡ سُنَّةُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

These people will not believe in this (Qur’an), and (this) is what has been the practice of the bygone people

lā yu'minūna bihi waqad khalat sunnatu l-awalīn

15:14

وَلَوۡ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم بَابࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ فَظَلُّوا۟ فِیهِ یَعۡرُجُونَ ۝١٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And if We open to them some gate in the heaven (and also make this possible for them that) they keep ascending through (it) the whole day

walaw fataḥnā ʿalayhim bāban mina l-samāi faẓallū fīhi yaʿrujūn

15:15

لَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتۡ أَبۡصَـٰرُنَا بَلۡ نَحۡنُ قَوۡمࣱ مَّسۡحُورُونَ ۝١٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(Even then) they will certainly say (this): ‘Our eyes have been hypnotized (through some magic trick and deceit), rather we are spellbound.

laqālū innamā sukkirat abṣārunā bal naḥnu qawmun masḥūrūn

15:16

وَلَقَدۡ جَعَلۡنَا فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ بُرُوجࣰا وَزَیَّنَّـٰهَا لِلنَّـٰظِرِینَ ۝١٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And indeed, We brought into existence constellations in the heavens (in the form of galaxies to safeguard the planets), and adorned this (spatial universe) for the beholders

walaqad jaʿalnā fī l-samāi burūjan wazayyannāhā lilnnāẓirīn

15:17

وَحَفِظۡنَـٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَیۡطَـٰنࣲ رَّجِیمٍ ۝١٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We have ensured the protection of this (system of heavenly universe) from every outcast satan (i.e., from the destructive phenomenon of every rebellious force)

waḥafiẓ'nāhā min kulli shayṭānin rajīmi

15:18

إِلَّا مَنِ ٱسۡتَرَقَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

But anyone who tries to eavesdrop, an illuminating (i.e., blazing) meteor follows it

illā mani is'taraqa l-samʿa fa-atbaʿahu shihābun mubīnu

15:19

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَـٰهَا وَأَلۡقَیۡنَا فِیهَا رَوَ ٰسِیَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِیهَا مِن كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ مَّوۡزُونࣲ ۝١٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We have spread out the earth (despite its being round), and We brought about firm mountains in it (by allying different elements together), and in it We provided means of growth to all species in (requisite) proportion

wal-arḍa madadnāhā wa-alqaynā fīhā rawāsiya wa-anbatnā fīhā min kulli shayin mawzūni

15:20

وَجَعَلۡنَا لَكُمۡ فِیهَا مَعَـٰیِشَ وَمَن لَّسۡتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِرَ ٰزِقِینَ ۝٢٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And in it We generated for you means of subsistence and also for those (human beings, animals and birds) whom you do not provide for

wajaʿalnā lakum fīhā maʿāyisha waman lastum lahu birāziqīn

15:21

وَإِن مِّن شَیۡءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَاۤىِٕنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥۤ إِلَّا بِقَدَرࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ ۝٢١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And there is not a thing (in the universe) but that We have its treasures with Us, and We send it down only according to a fixed quantity

wa-in min shayin illā ʿindanā khazāinuhu wamā nunazziluhu illā biqadarin maʿlūmi

15:22

وَأَرۡسَلۡنَا ٱلرِّیَـٰحَ لَوَ ٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَأَسۡقَیۡنَـٰكُمُوهُ وَمَاۤ أَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِخَـٰزِنِینَ ۝٢٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We send winds carrying the burden of clouds. Then We pour down water from the sky. Then it is you whom We give it to drink, and it is not you who maintain its reservoirs

wa-arsalnā l-riyāḥa lawāqiḥa fa-anzalnā mina l-samāi māan fa-asqaynākumūhu wamā antum lahu bikhāzinīn

15:23

وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ نُحۡیِۦ وَنُمِیتُ وَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡوَ ٰرِثُونَ ۝٢٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And indeed, We alone give life and cause death, and We alone are the Inheritor (and the Owner of all)

wa-innā lanaḥnu nuḥ'yī wanumītu wanaḥnu l-wārithūn

15:24

وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡتَقۡدِمِینَ مِنكُمۡ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡتَءۡخِرِینَ ۝٢٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And surely, We know those who lived before you, and We also know those who will come after you

walaqad ʿalim'nā l-mus'taqdimīna minkum walaqad ʿalim'nā l-mus'takhirīn

15:25

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ یَحۡشُرُهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِیمٌ عَلِیمࣱ ۝٢٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Verily, it is your Lord Who will gather them together (on the Day of Resurrection). Surely, He is Most Wise, All-Knowing

wa-inna rabbaka huwa yaḥshuruhum innahu ḥakīmun ʿalīmu

15:26

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ ۝٢٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And indeed, We originated man’s (chemical) genesis from that dry sounding clay which, (first) having grown old (and under the heat of the sun and other chemical and biological effects), had turned into black stinking mud

walaqad khalaqnā l-insāna min ṣalṣālin min ḥama-in masnūni

15:27

وَٱلۡجَاۤنَّ خَلَقۡنَـٰهُ مِن قَبۡلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِ ۝٢٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We created jinn before this from a smokeless blazing fire

wal-jāna khalaqnāhu min qablu min nāri l-samūm

15:28

وَإِذۡ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةِ إِنِّی خَـٰلِقُۢ بَشَرࣰا مِّن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ ۝٢٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And (recall) when your Lord said to the angels: ‘I am about to create a human organism from old (and) black stinking, resounding mud

wa-idh qāla rabbuka lil'malāikati innī khāliqun basharan min ṣalṣālin min ḥama-in masnūni

15:29

فَإِذَا سَوَّیۡتُهُۥ وَنَفَخۡتُ فِیهِ مِن رُّوحِی فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَـٰجِدِینَ ۝٢٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So when I accomplish the perfection of his (physical) constitution into his real being, and breathe My (divine) spirit into (the inner self of) this (human physical) organism, then fall down prostrate before him.

fa-idhā sawwaytuhu wanafakhtu fīhi min rūḥī faqaʿū lahu sājidīn

15:30

فَسَجَدَ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ كُلُّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعُونَ ۝٣٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So, (no sooner did the light of Allah’s effulgence illumine the human organism than) all the angels fell down in prostration together

fasajada l-malāikatu kulluhum ajmaʿūn

15:31

إِلَّاۤ إِبۡلِیسَ أَبَىٰۤ أَن یَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ ۝٣١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Except Iblis. He refused to join those who prostrated themselves

illā ib'līsa abā an yakūna maʿa l-sājidīn

15:32

قَالَ یَـٰۤإِبۡلِیسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ ۝٣٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(Allah) said: ‘O Iblis, what has happened to you that you have not joined those who have prostrated themselves?

qāla yāib'līsu mā laka allā takūna maʿa l-sājidīn

15:33

قَالَ لَمۡ أَكُن لِّأَسۡجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقۡتَهُۥ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ ۝٣٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(Iblis) replied: ‘I cannot be the one who should fall down prostrate before a human being You have created from old (and) black stinking, sounding mud.

qāla lam akun li-asjuda libasharin khalaqtahu min ṣalṣālin min ḥama-in masnūni

15:34

قَالَ فَٱخۡرُجۡ مِنۡهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِیمࣱ ۝٣٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(Allah) said: ‘Then get out from here, for you are indeed the cursed one (the outcast)

qāla fa-ukh'ruj min'hā fa-innaka rajīmu

15:35

وَإِنَّ عَلَیۡكَ ٱللَّعۡنَةَ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلدِّینِ ۝٣٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And, verily, the curse will (persistently) rest upon you till the Day of Recompense.

wa-inna ʿalayka l-laʿnata ilā yawmi l-dīn

15:36

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرۡنِیۤ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُونَ ۝٣٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

He said: ‘O Lord, then grant me respite till the Day (when) people will be raised up (again).

qāla rabbi fa-anẓir'nī ilā yawmi yub'ʿathūn

15:37

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنظَرِینَ ۝٣٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Allah said: ‘So, indeed, you are amongst those granted respite

qāla fa-innaka mina l-munẓarīn

15:38

إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلۡوَقۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡلُومِ ۝٣٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Till the Day of the appointed time (Resurrection).

ilā yawmi l-waqti l-maʿlūm

15:39

قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَاۤ أَغۡوَیۡتَنِی لَأُزَیِّنَنَّ لَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَأُغۡوِیَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٣٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Iblis said: ‘O Lord, because You have led me astray, I will (also) best adorn and embellish for them (the sins, revolts and violations) in the earth and will certainly lead all of them astray by all means

qāla rabbi bimā aghwaytanī la-uzayyinanna lahum fī l-arḍi wala-ugh'wiyannahum ajmaʿīn

15:40

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنۡهُمُ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٤٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Except for those exalted servants of Yours who have attained freedom (from my deceits and intrigues of the ill-commanding selves).

illā ʿibādaka min'humu l-mukh'laṣīn

15:41

قَالَ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطٌ عَلَیَّ مُسۡتَقِیمٌ ۝٤١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Allah said: ‘This (freedom from these deceits and intrigues) is the (very) path that leads straight to My Threshold

qāla hādhā ṣirāṭun ʿalayya mus'taqīmu

15:42

إِنَّ عِبَادِی لَیۡسَ لَكَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ سُلۡطَـٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡغَاوِینَ ۝٤٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, you will in no way be able to influence My servants (who have attained this freedom from you) except the misguided lot who have adopted your way

inna ʿibādī laysa laka ʿalayhim sul'ṭānun illā mani ittabaʿaka mina l-ghāwīn

15:43

وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوۡعِدُهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٤٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And verily, the promised place for all of them is Hell

wa-inna jahannama lamawʿiduhum ajmaʿīn

15:44

لَهَا سَبۡعَةُ أَبۡوَ ٰبࣲ لِّكُلِّ بَابࣲ مِّنۡهُمۡ جُزۡءࣱ مَّقۡسُومٌ ۝٤٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

It has seven doors; for each one a fixed portion of them has been specified.

lahā sabʿatu abwābin likulli bābin min'hum juz'on maqsūmu

15:45

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونٍ ۝٤٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Indeed, the Godfearing will be amid Gardens and fountains

inna l-mutaqīna fī jannātin waʿuyūni

15:46

ٱدۡخُلُوهَا بِسَلَـٰمٍ ءَامِنِینَ ۝٤٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(It will be said to them:) ‘Enter them peacefully, casting aside all fears.

ud'khulūhā bisalāmin āminīn

15:47

وَنَزَعۡنَا مَا فِی صُدُورِهِم مِّنۡ غِلٍّ إِخۡوَ ٰنًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِینَ ۝٤٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We shall remove from their breasts all spite that they had (in the world against one another due to misunderstanding). They shall be brothers seated on couches face to face (in Paradise)

wanazaʿnā mā fī ṣudūrihim min ghillin ikh'wānan ʿalā sururin mutaqābilīn

15:48

لَا یَمَسُّهُمۡ فِیهَا نَصَبࣱ وَمَا هُم مِّنۡهَا بِمُخۡرَجِینَ ۝٤٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

No discomfort will touch them, nor will they be driven out from there

lā yamassuhum fīhā naṣabun wamā hum min'hā bimukh'rajīn

15:49

۞ نَبِّئۡ عِبَادِیۤ أَنِّیۤ أَنَا ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٤٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(O Beloved!) Tell My servants: ‘Indeed, I am Most Forgiving, Ever-Merciful.

nabbi ʿibādī annī anā l-ghafūru l-raḥīm

15:50

وَأَنَّ عَذَابِی هُوَ ٱلۡعَذَابُ ٱلۡأَلِیمُ ۝٥٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And (also warn) that: ‘It is My torment which is the most grievous torment.

wa-anna ʿadhābī huwa l-ʿadhābu l-alīm

15:51

وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ عَن ضَیۡفِ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝٥١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And (also) relate to them the news about the guests of Ibrahim (Abraham)

wanabbi'hum ʿan ḍayfi ib'rāhīm

15:52

إِذۡ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمࣰا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمۡ وَجِلُونَ ۝٥٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

When they came to Ibrahim (Abraham), they greeted (him with): ‘Peace.’ Ibrahim (Abraham) said: ‘We are feeling somewhat afraid of you.

idh dakhalū ʿalayhi faqālū salāman qāla innā minkum wajilūn

15:53

قَالُوا۟ لَا تَوۡجَلۡ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَـٰمٍ عَلِیمࣲ ۝٥٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(The guest angels) said: ‘Do not feel afraid. We give you the glad tidings of (the birth of) a son endowed with knowledge and wisdom.

qālū lā tawjal innā nubashiruka bighulāmin ʿalīmi

15:54

قَالَ أَبَشَّرۡتُمُونِی عَلَىٰۤ أَن مَّسَّنِیَ ٱلۡكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ ۝٥٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Ibrahim (Abraham) said: ‘You are giving me the glad tidings at a time when old age has already overtaken me. So what good news are you giving me now?

qāla abashartumūnī ʿalā an massaniya l-kibaru fabima tubashirūn

15:55

قَالُوا۟ بَشَّرۡنَـٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡقَـٰنِطِینَ ۝٥٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

They said: ‘We give you the good news which is true. So do not lose hope.

qālū basharnāka bil-ḥaqi falā takun mina l-qāniṭīn

15:56

قَالَ وَمَن یَقۡنَطُ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ رَبِّهِۦۤ إِلَّا ٱلضَّاۤلُّونَ ۝٥٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Ibrahim (Abraham) said: ‘Who can lose hope of his Lord’s mercy except the strayed ones?

qāla waman yaqnaṭu min raḥmati rabbihi illā l-ḍālūn

15:57

قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكُمۡ أَیُّهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝٥٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Ibrahim (Abraham) asked: ‘O deputed angels (sent by Allah), what other assignment do you have (to accomplish besides these glad tidings for which you have come)?

qāla famā khaṭbukum ayyuhā l-mur'salūn

15:58

قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّاۤ أُرۡسِلۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمࣲ مُّجۡرِمِینَ ۝٥٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

They said: ‘We have been sent towards a sinful people

qālū innā ur'sil'nā ilā qawmin muj'rimīn

15:59

إِلَّاۤ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٥٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Except the family of Lut (Lot) all of whom We will indeed save

illā āla lūṭin innā lamunajjūhum ajmaʿīn

15:60

إِلَّا ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرۡنَاۤ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝٦٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

With the exception of his wife. We have decided that she shall certainly be amongst those who stay back (to become the victims of the torment).

illā im'ra-atahu qaddarnā innahā lamina l-ghābirīn

15:61

فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ ۝٦١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Then, when those deputed (angels) came to the house of Lut (Lot)

falammā jāa āla lūṭin l-mur'salūn

15:62

قَالَ إِنَّكُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ مُّنكَرُونَ ۝٦٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Lut (Lot) said: ‘Indeed, you are (looking) strangers.

qāla innakum qawmun munkarūn

15:63

قَالُوا۟ بَلۡ جِئۡنَـٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ فِیهِ یَمۡتَرُونَ ۝٦٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

They said: ‘(No indeed;) in fact we have come to you with the (punishment) about which these people have had doubts

qālū bal ji'nāka bimā kānū fīhi yamtarūn

15:64

وَأَتَیۡنَـٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ ۝٦٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And we have brought you (the judgment of) the truth and we are certainly truthful

wa-ataynāka bil-ḥaqi wa-innā laṣādiqūn

15:65

فَأَسۡرِ بِأَهۡلِكَ بِقِطۡعࣲ مِّنَ ٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱتَّبِعۡ أَدۡبَـٰرَهُمۡ وَلَا یَلۡتَفِتۡ مِنكُمۡ أَحَدࣱ وَٱمۡضُوا۟ حَیۡثُ تُؤۡمَرُونَ ۝٦٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So set off with your family sometime during the night, and follow them in the rear, and none of you should (even) look back, and proceed to the place (where) you have been commanded.

fa-asri bi-ahlika biqiṭ'ʿin mina al-layli wa-ittabiʿ adbārahum walā yaltafit minkum aḥadun wa-im'ḍū ḥaythu tu'marūn

15:66

وَقَضَیۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِ ذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلۡأَمۡرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ مَقۡطُوعࣱ مُّصۡبِحِینَ ۝٦٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We informed Lut (Lot) of this judgment through Revelation that the root of these people would be cut off the moment it dawns

waqaḍaynā ilayhi dhālika l-amra anna dābira hāulāi maqṭūʿun muṣ'biḥīn

15:67

وَجَاۤءَ أَهۡلُ ٱلۡمَدِینَةِ یَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ ۝٦٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And the people of the city (possessed by their lust) approached (Lut [Lot]), rejoicing

wajāa ahlu l-madīnati yastabshirūn

15:68

قَالَ إِنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ ضَیۡفِی فَلَا تَفۡضَحُونِ ۝٦٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Lut (Lot) said: ‘Surely, they are my guests, so do not put me to shame (about them)

qāla inna hāulāi ḍayfī falā tafḍaḥūn

15:69

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخۡزُونِ ۝٦٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And fear (the wrath of) Allah and do not humiliate me.

wa-ittaqū l-laha walā tukh'zūn

15:70

قَالُوۤا۟ أَوَ لَمۡ نَنۡهَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Those (lost in wickedness) said: ‘(O Lut [Lot],) did we not forbid you (to provide protection to) all the people of the world?

qālū awalam nanhaka ʿani l-ʿālamīn

15:71

قَالَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ بَنَاتِیۤ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَـٰعِلِینَ ۝٧١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Lut (Lot) said: ‘There are my (people’s) daughters. If you desire to do something (then marry them instead of perpetrating indecency).

qāla hāulāi banātī in kuntum fāʿilīn

15:72

لَعَمۡرُكَ إِنَّهُمۡ لَفِی سَكۡرَتِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ ۝٧٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(O Glorious Beloved!) By your (sacred) life, surely these people (too) are wandering astray, possessed by their lust (like the people of Lut [Lot])

laʿamruka innahum lafī sakratihim yaʿmahūn

15:73

فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ مُشۡرِقِینَ ۝٧٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So, the blazing blast seized them at sunrise

fa-akhadhathumu l-ṣayḥatu mush'riqīn

15:74

فَجَعَلۡنَا عَـٰلِیَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةࣰ مِّن سِجِّیلٍ ۝٧٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We turned their town upside down and rained upon them stones of baked clay

fajaʿalnā ʿāliyahā sāfilahā wa-amṭarnā ʿalayhim ḥijāratan min sijjīli

15:75

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّلۡمُتَوَسِّمِینَ ۝٧٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Verily, in this (occurrence) there are signs for those who possess the ability to probe into reality

inna fī dhālika laāyātin lil'mutawassimīn

15:76

وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِیلࣲ مُّقِیمٍ ۝٧٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And truly that town lies along a frequented highway

wa-innahā labisabīlin muqīmi

15:77

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٧٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, in this (episode of the people of Lut [Lot]), there is a sign of (warning) for the believers

inna fī dhālika laāyatan lil'mu'minīn

15:78

وَإِن كَانَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡأَیۡكَةِ لَظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٧٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And, in reality, the dwellers of al-Ayka (the Thick Wood) too were hardened wrongdoers

wa-in kāna aṣḥābu l-aykati laẓālimīn

15:79

فَٱنتَقَمۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٧٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So We avenged Ourselves on them (as well), and (archeological remains of) both these (towns still exist) on the highway

fa-intaqamnā min'hum wa-innahumā labi-imāmin mubīni

15:80

وَلَقَدۡ كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡحِجۡرِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝٨٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And no doubt, the people of the valley of al-Hijr (the Rock) too denied the Messengers

walaqad kadhaba aṣḥābu l-ḥij'ri l-mur'salīn

15:81

وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَا فَكَانُوا۟ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِینَ ۝٨١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We (also) bestowed upon them Our signs, but they persisted in turning away from them

waātaynāhum āyātinā fakānū ʿanhā muʿ'riḍīn

15:82

وَكَانُوا۟ یَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُیُوتًا ءَامِنِینَ ۝٨٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And they used to carve out houses in the mountains without any threat and fear

wakānū yanḥitūna mina l-jibāli buyūtan āminīn

15:83

فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ مُصۡبِحِینَ ۝٨٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And the dreadful blast seized them (as well) the moment it dawned

fa-akhadhathumu l-ṣayḥatu muṣ'biḥīn

15:84

فَمَاۤ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡسِبُونَ ۝٨٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So (the riches) they used to earn could not repel (Allah’s punishment) from them

famā aghnā ʿanhum mā kānū yaksibūn

15:85

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَاۤ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَءَاتِیَةࣱۖ فَٱصۡفَحِ ٱلصَّفۡحَ ٱلۡجَمِیلَ ۝٨٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We have not created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them without any purpose. And the Hour of Resurrection is certainly approaching. So, (O embodiment of excellent morality,) bear with (them) most graciously and effectively with perseverance

wamā khalaqnā l-samāwāti wal-arḍa wamā baynahumā illā bil-ḥaqi wa-inna l-sāʿata laātiyatun fa-iṣ'faḥi l-ṣafḥa l-jamīl

15:86

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلۡخَلَّـٰقُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٨٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Indeed, your Lord alone is the Creator of all things, All-Knowing

inna rabbaka huwa l-khalāqu l-ʿalīm

15:87

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰكَ سَبۡعࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡمَثَانِی وَٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ٱلۡعَظِیمَ ۝٨٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And surely We have bestowed upon you the seven oft-recited Verses (i.e., Chapter al-Fatiha) and the Glorious Qur’an

walaqad ātaynāka sabʿan mina l-mathānī wal-qur'āna l-ʿaẓīm

15:88

لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَیۡنَیۡكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعۡنَا بِهِۦۤ أَزۡوَ ٰجࣰا مِّنۡهُمۡ وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Do not even lift your eyes towards the things with which We have benefitted the disbelievers for their (few days’) luxury, nor grieve over their (turning away from the straight path), and keep your wings (of affection and care) lowered over the believers (to make them feel contented and cared for)

lā tamuddanna ʿaynayka ilā mā mattaʿnā bihi azwājan min'hum walā taḥzan ʿalayhim wa-ikh'fiḍ janāḥaka lil'mu'minīn

15:89

وَقُلۡ إِنِّیۤ أَنَا ٱلنَّذِیرُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝٨٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And say: ‘Indeed, I am (now) the open and clear Warner (of Allah’s torment).

waqul innī anā l-nadhīru l-mubīn

15:90

كَمَاۤ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡمُقۡتَسِمِینَ ۝٩٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The (torment) that We sent down upon the dividers (i.e., the Jews and the Christians)

kamā anzalnā ʿalā l-muq'tasimīn

15:91

ٱلَّذِینَ جَعَلُوا۟ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ عِضِینَ ۝٩١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Those who divided the Qur’an into pieces (and split it, i.e., accepted the favourable Verses but rejected the others)

alladhīna jaʿalū l-qur'āna ʿiḍīn

15:92

فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسۡءَلَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٩٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So, by your Lord, We shall indeed interrogate them all

fawarabbika lanasalannahum ajmaʿīn

15:93

عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٩٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Pertaining to the works that they used to do

fa-iṣ'daʿ bimā tu'maru wa-aʿriḍ ʿani l-mush'rikīn

15:94

فَٱصۡدَعۡ بِمَا تُؤۡمَرُ وَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ ۝٩٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So declare openly all those (matters) that you have been commanded, and turn away from those who set up partners with Allah

FaisdaAA bima tu/maru waaAArid AAani almushrikeena

15:95

إِنَّا كَفَیۡنَـٰكَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَهۡزِءِینَ ۝٩٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Surely, We suffice you for (taking them to task) who scoff

innā kafaynāka l-mus'tahziīn

15:96

ٱلَّذِینَ یَجۡعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَۚ فَسَوۡفَ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٩٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Who set up other gods along with Allah. So they will come to know (their end) soon

alladhīna yajʿalūna maʿa l-lahi ilāhan ākhara fasawfa yaʿlamūn

15:97

وَلَقَدۡ نَعۡلَمُ أَنَّكَ یَضِیقُ صَدۡرُكَ بِمَا یَقُولُونَ ۝٩٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And We indeed know that your (sacred) breast feels straitened by what they say

walaqad naʿlamu annaka yaḍīqu ṣadruka bimā yaqūlūn

15:98

فَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ ۝٩٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So glorify your Lord with His praise and live amongst those who prostrate themselves before Him

fasabbiḥ biḥamdi rabbika wakun mina l-sājidīn

15:99

وَٱعۡبُدۡ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ یَأۡتِیَكَ ٱلۡیَقِینُ ۝٩٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And worship your Lord till you attain to the station of certainty of faith (which goes with your glory, i.e., perfect cognizance of divinity or the moment of far-nearness to your Lord)

wa-uʿ'bud rabbaka ḥattā yatiyaka l-yaqīn
