26:2 ›
تِلۡكَ ءَایَـٰتُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ ٱلۡمُبِینِ ۝٢
Bijan Moeinian
Here are the verses of Qur’an which explains religious subjects crystal and clear
til'ka āyātu l-kitābi l-mubīn
26:3 ›
لَعَلَّكَ بَـٰخِعࣱ نَّفۡسَكَ أَلَّا یَكُونُوا۟ مُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٣
Bijan Moeinian
O’ Mohammad, even if you go to the extreme and kill yourself of grief, those who do not want to believe will not believe in the words of God (as mentioned in Qur’an)
laʿallaka bākhiʿun nafsaka allā yakūnū mu'minīn
26:4 ›
إِن نَّشَأۡ نُنَزِّلۡ عَلَیۡهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ ءَایَةࣰ فَظَلَّتۡ أَعۡنَـٰقُهُمۡ لَهَا خَـٰضِعِینَ ۝٤
Bijan Moeinian
If I (God) wanted to make the disbelievers to believe [out of fear], I could have sent them such a terrible sign from the heaven that they would have bowed down being humiliated
in nasha nunazzil ʿalayhim mina l-samāi āyatan faẓallat aʿnāquhum lahā khāḍiʿīn
26:5 ›
وَمَا یَأۡتِیهِم مِّن ذِكۡرࣲ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ مُحۡدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنۡهُ مُعۡرِضِینَ ۝٥
Bijan Moeinian
These people will not believe in My Words (as revealed in Qur’an;) they will simply turn aside from it
wamā yatīhim min dhik'rin mina l-raḥmāni muḥ'dathin illā kānū ʿanhu muʿ'riḍīn
26:6 ›
فَقَدۡ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَیَأۡتِیهِمۡ أَنۢبَـٰۤؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝٦
Bijan Moeinian
As a result of their denial, pretty soon they will witness the reality of what they were mocking at
faqad kadhabū fasayatīhim anbāu mā kānū bihi yastahziūn
26:7 ›
أَوَ لَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَمۡ أَنۢبَتۡنَا فِیهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجࣲ كَرِیمٍ ۝٧
Bijan Moeinian
Do they not see how many kinds of vegetation I have put on the earth
awalam yaraw ilā l-arḍi kam anbatnā fīhā min kulli zawjin karīmi
26:8 ›
إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨
Bijan Moeinian
Thinking about just this issue will provide them with enough food for thought to prove the existence and the greatness of God. Yet most of them do not care about believing
inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn
26:9 ›
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٩
Bijan Moeinian
Know that your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful
wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm
2 Moses called and sent to Pharaoh
26:10 ›
وَإِذۡ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنِ ٱئۡتِ ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ ۝١٠
Bijan Moeinian
Recall when your lord called upon Moses: “Go to those unjust people.”
wa-idh nādā rabbuka mūsā ani i'ti l-qawma l-ẓālimīn
26:11 ›
قَوۡمَ فِرۡعَوۡنَۚ أَلَا یَتَّقُونَ ۝١١
Bijan Moeinian
“People of Pharaoh who have lost their sensitivity.”
qawma fir'ʿawna alā yattaqūn
26:12 ›
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ أَن یُكَذِّبُونِ ۝١٢
Bijan Moeinian
He replied: “My Lord, I am afraid of their denial.”
qāla rabbi innī akhāfu an yukadhibūn
26:13 ›
وَیَضِیقُ صَدۡرِی وَلَا یَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِی فَأَرۡسِلۡ إِلَىٰ هَـٰرُونَ ۝١٣
Bijan Moeinian
“I may loose my temper. Besides, I have a problem with my tongue (and I cannot deliver an effective speech.) Would you kindly appoint my brother Aaron as my assistant.”
wayaḍīqu ṣadrī walā yanṭaliqu lisānī fa-arsil ilā hārūn
26:14 ›
وَلَهُمۡ عَلَیَّ ذَنۢبࣱ فَأَخَافُ أَن یَقۡتُلُونِ ۝١٤
Bijan Moeinian
“Besides, I am still charged with murder there. They may kill me for that.”
walahum ʿalayya dhanbun fa-akhāfu an yaqtulūn
26:15 ›
قَالَ كَلَّاۖ فَٱذۡهَبَا بِءَایَـٰتِنَاۤۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسۡتَمِعُونَ ۝١٥
Bijan Moeinian
The Lord said: “Do not worry, go armed with My miracles. I will be all ears.”
qāla kallā fa-idh'habā biāyātinā innā maʿakum mus'tamiʿūn
26:16 ›
فَأۡتِیَا فِرۡعَوۡنَ فَقُولَاۤ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٦
Bijan Moeinian
When you see Pharaoh, tell him: “We are the Lord’s Messenger for all His intelligent beings.”
fatiyā fir'ʿawna faqūlā innā rasūlu rabbi l-ʿālamīn
26:17 ›
أَنۡ أَرۡسِلۡ مَعَنَا بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝١٧
Bijan Moeinian
“Lord wants you to send the Israelites in our custody.”
an arsil maʿanā banī is'rāīl
26:18 ›
قَالَ أَلَمۡ نُرَبِّكَ فِینَا وَلِیدࣰا وَلَبِثۡتَ فِینَا مِنۡ عُمُرِكَ سِنِینَ ۝١٨
Bijan Moeinian
The pharaoh’s response was: “Did we not bring you up among us as a child? Did you not spend so many years of your life with us?”
qāla alam nurabbika fīnā walīdan walabith'ta fīnā min ʿumurika sinīn
26:19 ›
وَفَعَلۡتَ فَعۡلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِی فَعَلۡتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ ۝١٩
Bijan Moeinian
“Do you remember the crime that you committed. Are you not then one of the ingrates?”
wafaʿalta faʿlataka allatī faʿalta wa-anta mina l-kāfirīn
26:20 ›
قَالَ فَعَلۡتُهَاۤ إِذࣰا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّاۤلِّینَ ۝٢٠
Bijan Moeinian
Moses said: “I confess to the crime that I committed when I was an unjust person.”
qāla faʿaltuhā idhan wa-anā mina l-ḍālīn
26:21 ›
فَفَرَرۡتُ مِنكُمۡ لَمَّا خِفۡتُكُمۡ فَوَهَبَ لِی رَبِّی حُكۡمࣰا وَجَعَلَنِی مِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝٢١
Bijan Moeinian
“Yes, I fled from you out of fear. But now my Lord has granted me the wisdom and has appointed me to His prophet hood.”
fafarartu minkum lammā khif'tukum fawahaba lī rabbī ḥuk'man wajaʿalanī mina l-mur'salīn
26:22 ›
وَتِلۡكَ نِعۡمَةࣱ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَیَّ أَنۡ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝٢٢
Bijan Moeinian
“You are rubbing to my face that you did me a favor, and use it as an excuse to keep the Children of Israel in slavery!”
watil'ka niʿ'matun tamunnuhā ʿalayya an ʿabbadtta banī is'rāīl
26:23 ›
قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٢٣
Bijan Moeinian
Pharaoh said: “Who is this Lord of all worlds that you are talking about?”
qāla fir'ʿawnu wamā rabbu l-ʿālamīn
26:24 ›
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَاۤۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِینَ ۝٢٤
Bijan Moeinian
Moses replied: “He is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and everything in between. Do not have the least doubt about this.”
qāla rabbu l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wamā baynahumā in kuntum mūqinīn
26:25 ›
قَالَ لِمَنۡ حَوۡلَهُۥۤ أَلَا تَسۡتَمِعُونَ ۝٢٥
Bijan Moeinian
Pharaoh turned to those around him and said in a joking manner “Did you hear this?”
qāla liman ḥawlahu alā tastamiʿūn
26:26 ›
قَالَ رَبُّكُمۡ وَرَبُّ ءَابَاۤىِٕكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٢٦
Bijan Moeinian
Moses continued: “He is your Lord as well as the Lord of your forefathers.”
qāla rabbukum warabbu ābāikumu l-awalīn
26:27 ›
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِیۤ أُرۡسِلَ إِلَیۡكُمۡ لَمَجۡنُونࣱ ۝٢٧
Bijan Moeinian
Pharaoh said to his companions: “This Messenger which is sent to you is crazy.”
qāla inna rasūlakumu alladhī ur'sila ilaykum lamajnūnu
26:28 ›
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقِ وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبِ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَاۤۖ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٢٨
Bijan Moeinian
Moses continued his speech: “He is the Lord in the east and the Lord in the west, do you get it?”
qāla rabbu l-mashriqi wal-maghribi wamā baynahumā in kuntum taʿqilūn
26:29 ›
قَالَ لَىِٕنِ ٱتَّخَذۡتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَیۡرِی لَأَجۡعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمَسۡجُونِینَ ۝٢٩
Bijan Moeinian
Pharaoh continued his chat with people around him: “If by any chance you worship any god beside me, I will throw you in jail.”
qāla la-ini ittakhadhta ilāhan ghayrī la-ajʿalannaka mina l-masjūnīn
26:30 ›
قَالَ أَوَ لَوۡ جِئۡتُكَ بِشَیۡءࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝٣٠
Bijan Moeinian
Moses said, “What if I come up with an undeniable miracle?”
qāla awalaw ji'tuka bishayin mubīni
26:31 ›
قَالَ فَأۡتِ بِهِۦۤ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝٣١
Bijan Moeinian
Pharaoh said, “Go ahead, if you are truthful.”
qāla fati bihi in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn
26:32 ›
فَأَلۡقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِیَ ثُعۡبَانࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٣٢
Bijan Moeinian
Moses then threw his staff and it turned into a huge snake
fa-alqā ʿaṣāhu fa-idhā hiya thuʿ'bānun mubīnu
26:33 ›
وَنَزَعَ یَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِیَ بَیۡضَاۤءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِینَ ۝٣٣
Bijan Moeinian
Then he took his hand out of his pocket, and it radiated an intense light
wanazaʿa yadahu fa-idhā hiya bayḍāu lilnnāẓirīn
3 Moses and Enchanters
26:34 ›
قَالَ لِلۡمَلَإِ حَوۡلَهُۥۤ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ عَلِیمࣱ ۝٣٤
Bijan Moeinian
Pharaoh turned to his companion and said: “What a magic.”
qāla lil'mala-i ḥawlahu inna hādhā lasāḥirun ʿalīmu
26:35 ›
یُرِیدُ أَن یُخۡرِجَكُم مِّنۡ أَرۡضِكُم بِسِحۡرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأۡمُرُونَ ۝٣٥
Bijan Moeinian
“His goal is to take your land, through his magical tricks. What do you suggest?”
yurīdu an yukh'rijakum min arḍikum bisiḥ'rihi famādhā tamurūn
26:36 ›
قَالُوۤا۟ أَرۡجِهۡ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبۡعَثۡ فِی ٱلۡمَدَاۤىِٕنِ حَـٰشِرِینَ ۝٣٦
Bijan Moeinian
They said: “Leave him and his brother alone for a while, and send your heralds to every town
qālū arjih wa-akhāhu wa-ib'ʿath fī l-madāini ḥāshirīn
26:37 ›
یَأۡتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِیمࣲ ۝٣٧
Bijan Moeinian
“Let them gather all experienced magicians.”
yatūka bikulli saḥḥārin ʿalīmi
26:38 ›
فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِیقَـٰتِ یَوۡمࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ ۝٣٨
Bijan Moeinian
The magicians came to the meeting place as it was planned
fajumiʿa l-saḥaratu limīqāti yawmin maʿlūmi
26:39 ›
وَقِیلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلۡ أَنتُم مُّجۡتَمِعُونَ ۝٣٩
Bijan Moeinian
The people (who were excited about the whole thing) were saying to each other: “Are you going to the meeting too?”
waqīla lilnnāsi hal antum muj'tamiʿūn
26:40 ›
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبِینَ ۝٤٠
Bijan Moeinian
“If the magicians win, we may follow their religion.”
laʿallanā nattabiʿu l-saḥarata in kānū humu l-ghālibīn
26:41 ›
فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرۡعَوۡنَ أَىِٕنَّ لَنَا لَأَجۡرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحۡنُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبِینَ ۝٤١
Bijan Moeinian
When the magicians arrived, they asked Pharaoh: “Is there any reward for us (and this indicates how serious they were about their own religion.)”
falammā jāa l-saḥaratu qālū lifir'ʿawna a-inna lanā la-ajran in kunnā naḥnu l-ghālibīn
26:42 ›
قَالَ نَعَمۡ وَإِنَّكُمۡ إِذࣰا لَّمِنَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبِینَ ۝٤٢
Bijan Moeinian
Pharaoh replied: “Not only there will be a great reward, but also a high administrative position in my court will be yours.”
qāla naʿam wa-innakum idhan lamina l-muqarabīn
26:43 ›
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰۤ أَلۡقُوا۟ مَاۤ أَنتُم مُّلۡقُونَ ۝٤٣
Bijan Moeinian
Moses said to them “Go ahead, do your tricks.”
qāla lahum mūsā alqū mā antum mul'qūn
26:44 ›
فَأَلۡقَوۡا۟ حِبَالَهُمۡ وَعِصِیَّهُمۡ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبُونَ ۝٤٤
Bijan Moeinian
They threw their ropes and sticks, and said: “By the Grace of the Pharaoh’s majesty, we will be the winners.”
fa-alqaw ḥibālahum waʿiṣiyyahum waqālū biʿizzati fir'ʿawna innā lanaḥnu l-ghālibūn
26:45 ›
فَأَلۡقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِیَ تَلۡقَفُ مَا یَأۡفِكُونَ ۝٤٥
Bijan Moeinian
Then Moses threw his staff which started to swallow all their tricks
fa-alqā mūsā ʿaṣāhu fa-idhā hiya talqafu mā yafikūn
26:46 ›
فَأُلۡقِیَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَـٰجِدِینَ ۝٤٦
Bijan Moeinian
At this, the magicians fell prostrate
fa-ul'qiya l-saḥaratu sājidīn
26:47 ›
قَالُوۤا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٤٧
Bijan Moeinian
They said, “We believe in the Lord of all worlds.”
qālū āmannā birabbi l-ʿālamīn
26:48 ›
رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ۝٤٨
Bijan Moeinian
“The Lord of Moses and Aaron.”
rabbi mūsā wahārūn
26:49 ›
قَالَ ءَامَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ قَبۡلَ أَنۡ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِیرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِی عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحۡرَ فَلَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَیۡدِیَكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُم مِّنۡ خِلَـٰفࣲ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٤٩
Bijan Moeinian
Pharaoh said: “How dare you to believe in Moses before getting permission from me? Now I see; he is your master and has taught you the art of magic. You will surely find out when I cut your hands and feet on alternate sides. I will crucify you all.”
qāla āmantum lahu qabla an ādhana lakum innahu lakabīrukumu alladhī ʿallamakumu l-siḥ'ra falasawfa taʿlamūna la-uqaṭṭiʿanna aydiyakum wa-arjulakum min khilāfin wala-uṣallibannakum ajmaʿīn
26:50 ›
قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَیۡرَۖ إِنَّاۤ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ ۝٥٠
Bijan Moeinian
They replied: “No problem; (as a matter of fact, you are doing us a favor as) we will return to our Lord
qālū lā ḍayra innā ilā rabbinā munqalibūn
26:51 ›
إِنَّا نَطۡمَعُ أَن یَغۡفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـٰیَـٰنَاۤ أَن كُنَّاۤ أَوَّلَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٥١
Bijan Moeinian
“We hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins as we are the first to believe in God and the prophet hood of Moses.”
innā naṭmaʿu an yaghfira lanā rabbunā khaṭāyānā an kunnā awwala l-mu'minīn
4 Moses delivered, Pharaoh drowned
26:52 ›
۞ وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنۡ أَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِیۤ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ ۝٥٢
Bijan Moeinian
Eventually, I said to Moses: “Set off with My servants (at night;) you will be pursued.”
wa-awḥaynā ilā mūsā an asri biʿibādī innakum muttabaʿūn
26:53 ›
فَأَرۡسَلَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ فِی ٱلۡمَدَاۤىِٕنِ حَـٰشِرِینَ ۝٥٣
Bijan Moeinian
Pharaoh sent his heralds to the cities
fa-arsala fir'ʿawnu fī l-madāini ḥāshirīn
26:54 ›
إِنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ لَشِرۡذِمَةࣱ قَلِیلُونَ ۝٥٤
Bijan Moeinian
They announced the Pharaoh’s declaration: “They are only a small gang.”
inna hāulāi lashir'dhimatun qalīlūn
26:55 ›
وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَنَا لَغَاۤىِٕظُونَ ۝٥٥
Bijan Moeinian
“But they have outraged us.”
wa-innahum lanā laghāiẓūn
26:56 ›
وَإِنَّا لَجَمِیعٌ حَـٰذِرُونَ ۝٥٦
Bijan Moeinian
“We have to stay vigilant”
wa-innā lajamīʿun ḥādhirūn
26:57 ›
فَأَخۡرَجۡنَـٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونࣲ ۝٥٧
Bijan Moeinian
Subsequently (after having drowned Pharaoh and his army,) I took away from them their gardens and springs
fa-akhrajnāhum min jannātin waʿuyūni
26:58 ›
وَكُنُوزࣲ وَمَقَامࣲ كَرِیمࣲ ۝٥٨
Bijan Moeinian
As well as their treasures and their prestigious positions
wakunūzin wamaqāmin karīmi
26:59 ›
كَذَ ٰلِكَۖ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَـٰهَا بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝٥٩
Bijan Moeinian
On the other hand, I showered all the children of Israel with such blessings
kadhālika wa-awrathnāhā banī is'rāīl
26:60 ›
فَأَتۡبَعُوهُم مُّشۡرِقِینَ ۝٦٠
Bijan Moeinian
Pharaoh’s army pursued them towards the east
fa-atbaʿūhum mush'riqīn
26:61 ›
فَلَمَّا تَرَ ٰۤءَا ٱلۡجَمۡعَانِ قَالَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ مُوسَىٰۤ إِنَّا لَمُدۡرَكُونَ ۝٦١
Bijan Moeinian
When both parties saw each other, Moses’ people said, “Now we are doomed.”
falammā tarāā l-jamʿāni qāla aṣḥābu mūsā innā lamud'rakūn
26:62 ›
قَالَ كَلَّاۤۖ إِنَّ مَعِیَ رَبِّی سَیَهۡدِینِ ۝٦٢
Bijan Moeinian
Moses said, “Not at all. My Lord is with me; He will guide me.”
qāla kallā inna maʿiya rabbī sayahdīn
26:63 ›
فَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنِ ٱضۡرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرۡقࣲ كَٱلطَّوۡدِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٦٣
Bijan Moeinian
At that time I said to Moses: “Strike the sea with your staff,” whereupon it parted. Each part was like a great wall
fa-awḥaynā ilā mūsā ani iḍ'rib biʿaṣāka l-baḥra fa-infalaqa fakāna kullu fir'qin kal-ṭawdi l-ʿaẓīm
26:64 ›
وَأَزۡلَفۡنَا ثَمَّ ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝٦٤

Thus I delivered them all
wa-azlafnā thamma l-ākharīn
26:65 ›
وَأَنجَیۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥۤ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٦٥
Bijan Moeinian
Thus I saved Moses and all those who were with him
wa-anjaynā mūsā waman maʿahu ajmaʿīn
26:66 ›
ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝٦٦

Then I drowned Pharaoh and his troop
thumma aghraqnā l-ākharīn
26:67 ›
إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٦٧

This by itself is a sufficient proof for the disbelievers. What a shame that most people do not join the believers

26:68 ›
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٦٨

Truly, your Lord is the Almighty, Most Merciful
wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm
26:69 ›
وَٱتۡلُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ نَبَأَ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝٦٩

Now recite the story of Abraham [in this part of the Book.]
wa-ut'lu ʿalayhim naba-a ib'rāhīm
26:70 ›
إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٧٠
Bijan Moeinian
Once in a gathering he said to his father and the present people: “What are these things that you worship?”
idh qāla li-abīhi waqawmihi mā taʿbudūn
26:71 ›
قَالُوا۟ نَعۡبُدُ أَصۡنَامࣰا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِینَ ۝٧١
Bijan Moeinian
They replied: “We are totally devoted to these idols that we worship.”
qālū naʿbudu aṣnāman fanaẓallu lahā ʿākifīn
26:72 ›
قَالَ هَلۡ یَسۡمَعُونَكُمۡ إِذۡ تَدۡعُونَ ۝٧٢
Bijan Moeinian
Abraham said, “Can they hear your prayers?”
qāla hal yasmaʿūnakum idh tadʿūn
26:73 ›
أَوۡ یَنفَعُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ یَضُرُّونَ ۝٧٣
Bijan Moeinian
Then he continued: “Have they ever brought anything good to you? Have they ever punished you?”
aw yanfaʿūnakum aw yaḍurrūn
26:74 ›
قَالُوا۟ بَلۡ وَجَدۡنَاۤ ءَابَاۤءَنَا كَذَ ٰلِكَ یَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٧٤
Bijan Moeinian
They said: “To be honest with you No. But they constitute our cultural routes; we do what we have culturally inherited from our forefathers.”
qālū bal wajadnā ābāanā kadhālika yafʿalūn
26:75 ›
قَالَ أَفَرَءَیۡتُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٧٥
Bijan Moeinian
Abraham asked: “Have you ever opened your eyes to see the absurdity of what you worship?”
qāla afara-aytum mā kuntum taʿbudūn
26:76 ›
أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَاۤؤُكُمُ ٱلۡأَقۡدَمُونَ ۝٧٦

“I am the enemy of you and your ancestors’ gods….
antum waābāukumu l-aqdamūn
26:77 ›
فَإِنَّهُمۡ عَدُوࣱّ لِّیۤ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧٧

I am devoted only to the Lord of the all worlds:…
fa-innahum ʿaduwwun lī illā rabba l-ʿālamīn
26:78 ›
ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَنِی فَهُوَ یَهۡدِینِ ۝٧٨
Bijan Moeinian
the One who created me, and guided me.”
alladhī khalaqanī fahuwa yahdīn
26:79 ›
وَٱلَّذِی هُوَ یُطۡعِمُنِی وَیَسۡقِینِ ۝٧٩
Bijan Moeinian
“The One who provides food and water for me.”
wa-alladhī huwa yuṭ'ʿimunī wayasqīn
26:80 ›
وَإِذَا مَرِضۡتُ فَهُوَ یَشۡفِینِ ۝٨٠

“The one that heals me, when I get sick.”
wa-idhā mariḍ'tu fahuwa yashfīn
26:81 ›
وَٱلَّذِی یُمِیتُنِی ثُمَّ یُحۡیِینِ ۝٨١

“The One who puts me to death, then brings me back to life.”
wa-alladhī yumītunī thumma yuḥ'yīn
26:82 ›
وَٱلَّذِیۤ أَطۡمَعُ أَن یَغۡفِرَ لِی خَطِیۤءَتِی یَوۡمَ ٱلدِّینِ ۝٨٢

“The One who hopefully will forgive my wrongdoings on the Day of Judgment.”
wa-alladhī aṭmaʿu an yaghfira lī khaṭīatī yawma l-dīn
26:83 ›
رَبِّ هَبۡ لِی حُكۡمࣰا وَأَلۡحِقۡنِی بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٨٣
Bijan Moeinian
Abraham then prayed: “My Lord, grant me knowledge and wisdom, and gather me among the righteous ones.”
rabbi hab lī ḥuk'man wa-alḥiq'nī bil-ṣāliḥīn
26:84 ›
وَٱجۡعَل لِّی لِسَانَ صِدۡقࣲ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝٨٤
Bijan Moeinian
“Make me a role model for the future generations.”
wa-ij'ʿal lī lisāna ṣid'qin fī l-ākhirīn
26:85 ›
وَٱجۡعَلۡنِی مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِیمِ ۝٨٥
Bijan Moeinian
“Please include me among those who will have the pleasure of ending up in the Paradise.”
wa-ij'ʿalnī min warathati jannati l-naʿīm
26:86 ›
وَٱغۡفِرۡ لِأَبِیۤ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّاۤلِّینَ ۝٨٦

“May you forgive my father, for following those who are in the darkness.”
wa-igh'fir li-abī innahu kāna mina l-ḍālīn
26:87 ›
وَلَا تُخۡزِنِی یَوۡمَ یُبۡعَثُونَ ۝٨٧

“I beg you not to abandon me on the Day of Resurrection:…
walā tukh'zinī yawma yub'ʿathūn
26:88 ›
یَوۡمَ لَا یَنفَعُ مَالࣱ وَلَا بَنُونَ ۝٨٨
Bijan Moeinian
the day in which neither money, nor children, is of any help.”
yawma lā yanfaʿu mālun walā banūn
26:89 ›
إِلَّا مَنۡ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلۡبࣲ سَلِیمࣲ ۝٨٩

On the Day of Resurrection, only those who have wholeheartedly devoted themselves to the Lord will find the help
illā man atā l-laha biqalbin salīmi
26:90 ›
وَأُزۡلِفَتِ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝٩٠

On that Day, Paradise will be presented to the righteous people
wa-uz'lifati l-janatu lil'muttaqīn
26:91 ›
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِیمُ لِلۡغَاوِینَ ۝٩١

On that Day, the Hell will be opened waiting for the sinners to enter in
waburrizati l-jaḥīmu lil'ghāwīn
26:92 ›
وَقِیلَ لَهُمۡ أَیۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٩٢
Bijan Moeinian
The disbelievers will be asked, “Where are those idols of yours that you used worship instead of God?…
waqīla lahum ayna mā kuntum taʿbudūn
26:93 ›
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلۡ یَنصُرُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ یَنتَصِرُونَ ۝٩٣
Bijan Moeinian
Can they help you now? As a matter of fact, can they help themselves?”
min dūni l-lahi hal yanṣurūnakum aw yantaṣirūn
26:94 ›
فَكُبۡكِبُوا۟ فِیهَا هُمۡ وَٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ ۝٩٤
Bijan Moeinian
Those idols, along with those who worshipped them, will be thrown therein
fakub'kibū fīhā hum wal-ghāwūn
26:95 ›
وَجُنُودُ إِبۡلِیسَ أَجۡمَعُونَ ۝٩٥
Bijan Moeinian
They will be followed by the Satan’s helpers
wajunūdu ib'līsa ajmaʿūn
26:96 ›
قَالُوا۟ وَهُمۡ فِیهَا یَخۡتَصِمُونَ ۝٩٦
Bijan Moeinian
Therein they will dispute with one another saying: .
qālū wahum fīhā yakhtaṣimūn
26:97 ›
تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینٍ ۝٩٧
Bijan Moeinian
“By God, we were on absolute darkness.”
tal-lahi in kunnā lafī ḍalālin mubīni
26:98 ›
إِذۡ نُسَوِّیكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٩٨
Bijan Moeinian
“How could we raise you up to the level of the Lord of all worlds?”
idh nusawwīkum birabbi l-ʿālamīn
26:99 ›
وَمَاۤ أَضَلَّنَاۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٩٩
Bijan Moeinian
“What criminals were those who misled us.”
wamā aḍallanā illā l-muj'rimūn
26:100 ›
فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَـٰفِعِینَ ۝١٠٠
Bijan Moeinian
“Now no one will beg God to have pity on us.”
famā lanā min shāfiʿīn
26:101 ›
وَلَا صَدِیقٍ حَمِیمࣲ ۝١٠١
Bijan Moeinian
“We do not even have a single friend.”
walā ṣadīqin ḥamīmi
26:102 ›
فَلَوۡ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةࣰ فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٠٢

“If we were given another chance, we would have chosen the belief.”
falaw anna lanā karratan fanakūna mina l-mu'minīn
26:103 ›
إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٠٣

The story of Abraham’s life conveys a good lesson. But most people care less
inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn
26:104 ›
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٠٤

26:106 ›
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٠٦

Their brother Noah advised them: “Why do you care less?”
idh qāla lahum akhūhum nūḥun alā tattaqūn
26:107 ›
إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ۝١٠٧
Bijan Moeinian
“I am a true Messenger of God.”
innī lakum rasūlun amīnu
26:108 ›
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٠٨
Bijan Moeinian
“Respect the Lord and follow me.”
fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn
26:109 ›
وَمَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٠٩

“I am not charging you any consulting fee. My wage is being paid by the Lord of all worlds.”
wamā asalukum ʿalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā rabbi l-ʿālamīn
26:110 ›
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١١٠
Bijan Moeinian
“Respect the Lord and follow me.”
fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn
26:111 ›
۞ قَالُوۤا۟ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلۡأَرۡذَلُونَ ۝١١١
Bijan Moeinian
They said: “How can we believe you, when only our low lives have joined you?”
qālū anu'minu laka wa-ittabaʿaka l-ardhalūn
26:112 ›
قَالَ وَمَا عِلۡمِی بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١١٢
Bijan Moeinian
Noah replied: “It is not up to me to judge them.”
qāla wamā ʿil'mī bimā kānū yaʿmalūn
26:113 ›
إِنۡ حِسَابُهُمۡ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّیۖ لَوۡ تَشۡعُرُونَ ۝١١٣
Bijan Moeinian
“Their judgment rests only with my Lord. Do you get it?”
in ḥisābuhum illā ʿalā rabbī law tashʿurūn
26:114 ›
وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١١٤

“I will never dismiss those who have chosen to believe (in account of their past or social background.)”
wamā anā biṭāridi l-mu'minīn
26:115 ›
إِنۡ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِیرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١١٥
Bijan Moeinian
“My only mission is to clearly convey the Lord’s Message.”
in anā illā nadhīrun mubīnu
26:116 ›
قَالُوا۟ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ یَـٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمَرۡجُومِینَ ۝١١٦
Bijan Moeinian
They said, “Noah, If you do not stop, we will stone you.”
qālū la-in lam tantahi yānūḥu latakūnanna mina l-marjūmīn
26:117 ›
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوۡمِی كَذَّبُونِ ۝١١٧
Bijan Moeinian
Noah then turned to God and said: “Lord, my people, thus, has rejected me.”
qāla rabbi inna qawmī kadhabūn
26:118 ›
فَٱفۡتَحۡ بَیۡنِی وَبَیۡنَهُمۡ فَتۡحࣰا وَنَجِّنِی وَمَن مَّعِیَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١١٨
Bijan Moeinian
“Please settle the account between us, and save me and the believers from their wicked intentions.”
fa-if'taḥ baynī wabaynahum fatḥan wanajjinī waman maʿiya mina l-mu'minīn
26:119 ›
فَأَنجَیۡنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِی ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ ۝١١٩
Bijan Moeinian
Eventually I saved him, and those who had joined him in belief, on board the loaded ark
fa-anjaynāhu waman maʿahu fī l-ful'ki l-mashḥūn
26:120 ›
ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا بَعۡدُ ٱلۡبَاقِینَ ۝١٢٠

While drowning the others
thumma aghraqnā baʿdu l-bāqīn
26:121 ›
إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٢١

There is a lesson to be learned from this story; yet most people care less

كَذَّبَتۡ عَادٌ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٢٣

Another nation who rejected the prophet hood was Ad
kadhabat ʿādun l-mur'salīn
26:124 ›
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٢٤

Their brother Hud said to them: “Why do you not choose righteousness?”
idh qāla lahum akhūhum hūdun alā tattaqūn
26:125 ›
إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ۝١٢٥

“I am a true Messenger of God.”
innī lakum rasūlun amīnu
26:126 ›
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٢٦

“Respect the Lord, and follow me.”
fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn
26:127 ›
وَمَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٢٧
Bijan Moeinian
“I do not ask you for any consulting fee; I am already being paid by the Lord of all worlds.”
wamā asalukum ʿalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā rabbi l-ʿālamīn
26:128 ›
أَتَبۡنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِیعٍ ءَایَةࣰ تَعۡبَثُونَ ۝١٢٨
Bijan Moeinian
“On every high ground You build a monument to satisfy your vanity.”
atabnūna bikulli rīʿin āyatan taʿbathūn
26:129 ›
وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَخۡلُدُونَ ۝١٢٩
Bijan Moeinian
“You build huge palaces to live in as if you are immortal.”
watattakhidhūna maṣāniʿa laʿallakum takhludūn
26:130 ›
وَإِذَا بَطَشۡتُم بَطَشۡتُمۡ جَبَّارِینَ ۝١٣٠
Bijan Moeinian
“And when you fight, you do not show any mercy.”
wa-idhā baṭashtum baṭashtum jabbārīn
26:131 ›
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٣١

“Respect the Lord and follow me.”
fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn
26:132 ›
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١٣٢
Bijan Moeinian
“Respect the One who has taught you all knowledge that you are proud of.”
wa-ittaqū alladhī amaddakum bimā taʿlamūn
26:133 ›
أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنۡعَـٰمࣲ وَبَنِینَ ۝١٣٣
Bijan Moeinian
“The One Who has given you livestock and children.”
amaddakum bi-anʿāmin wabanīn
26:134 ›
وَجَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونٍ ۝١٣٤
Bijan Moeinian
“The One Who has given you gardens and springs.”
wajannātin waʿuyūni
26:135 ›
إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝١٣٥

“I am worried for the punishment of the most awesome Day for you.”
innī akhāfu ʿalaykum ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmi
26:136 ›
قَالُوا۟ سَوَاۤءٌ عَلَیۡنَاۤ أَوَعَظۡتَ أَمۡ لَمۡ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡوَ ٰعِظِینَ ۝١٣٦
Bijan Moeinian
They said: “Do not worry and do not bother yourself preaching to us.”
qālū sawāon ʿalaynā awaʿaẓta am lam takun mina l-wāʿiẓīn
26:137 ›
إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٣٧
Bijan Moeinian
“The punishment that you are talking about was meant only to our ancestors.” (This attitude is manifested today by the Jews and the Christian who believe that God has promised not to be angry after the Noah’s flood as mentioned in Genesis 9:11.
in hādhā illā khuluqu l-awalīn
26:138 ›
وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِینَ ۝١٣٨
Bijan Moeinian
“No punishment will ever be imposed upon us.”
wamā naḥnu bimuʿadhabīn
26:139 ›
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهۡلَكۡنَـٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٣٩
Bijan Moeinian
They chose to disbelieve and, consequently, I destroyed them as a punishment. This should be a great lesson; yet most people care less
fakadhabūhu fa-ahlaknāhum inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn
26:140 ›
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٤٠

The fact is: your Lord is the Almighty, Most Merciful
wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm

كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٤١

Thamood also disbelieved in the prophet hood

إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ صَـٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٤٢

Their brother Saleh said to them: “Why do you not choose the righteousness?”
idh qāla lahum akhūhum ṣāliḥun alā tattaqūn
26:143 ›
إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ۝١٤٣

“I am a true Messenger of God.”

26:144 ›
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٤٤

26:145 ›
وَمَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٤٥
Bijan Moeinian

أَتُتۡرَكُونَ فِی مَا هَـٰهُنَاۤ ءَامِنِینَ ۝١٤٦

“Do you think this blessing is forever?”
atut'rakūna fī mā hāhunā āminīn
26:147 ›
فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونࣲ ۝١٤٧

“You are enjoying your gardens and springs.”
fī jannātin waʿuyūni
26:148 ›
وَزُرُوعࣲ وَنَخۡلࣲ طَلۡعُهَا هَضِیمࣱ ۝١٤٨

“You are enjoying the abundance of vegetables and date palms with delicious fruits.”
wazurūʿin wanakhlin ṭalʿuhā haḍīmu
26:149 ›
وَتَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُیُوتࣰا فَـٰرِهِینَ ۝١٤٩
Bijan Moeinian
“You are carving luxurious houses inside the mountains with a great skill.”
watanḥitūna mina l-jibāli buyūtan fārihīn
26:150 ›
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٥٠
Bijan Moeinian
“Respect the Lord and follow me.”
fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn
26:151 ›
وَلَا تُطِیعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝١٥١
Bijan Moeinian
“Do not follow the vanities of those who go beyond the limits.”
walā tuṭīʿū amra l-mus'rifīn
26:152 ›
ٱلَّذِینَ یُفۡسِدُونَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا یُصۡلِحُونَ ۝١٥٢
Bijan Moeinian
“Do not follow the mischief makers who never do anything good .”
alladhīna yuf'sidūna fī l-arḍi walā yuṣ'liḥūn
26:153 ›
قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَاۤ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِینَ ۝١٥٣
Bijan Moeinian
Their reply was: “You are possessed!”
qālū innamā anta mina l-musaḥarīn
26:154 ›
مَاۤ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُنَا فَأۡتِ بِءَایَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٥٤
Bijan Moeinian
“You are only a human being like us. come up with a miracle, if you are for real.”
mā anta illā basharun mith'lunā fati biāyatin in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn
26:155 ›
قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةࣱ لَّهَا شِرۡبࣱ وَلَكُمۡ شِرۡبُ یَوۡمࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ ۝١٥٥
Bijan Moeinian
He said: “Here is the camel [with the miraculous nature as you see.] she will drink on given days assigned to her and you will use the water well on the days assigned to you.”
qāla hādhihi nāqatun lahā shir'bun walakum shir'bu yawmin maʿlūmi
26:156 ›
وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوۤءࣲ فَیَأۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابُ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝١٥٦
Bijan Moeinian
“If you touch her with a bad intention, you will be severely punished on an awesome day.”
walā tamassūhā bisūin fayakhudhakum ʿadhābu yawmin ʿaẓīmi
26:157 ›
فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصۡبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِینَ ۝١٥٧
Bijan Moeinian
Yet they slaughtered her and became regretful…
faʿaqarūhā fa-aṣbaḥū nādimīn
26:158 ›
فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٥٨

when they were subjected to their punishment
fa-akhadhahumu l-ʿadhābu inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn
26:159 ›
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٥٩
Bijan Moeinian
The fact is your Lord is the Almighty, Most Merciful
wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm
9 History of Lot
26:160 ›
كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٦٠
Bijan Moeinian
The people of Lot also rejected the prophet hood of the messengers
kadhabat qawmu lūṭin l-mur'salīn
26:161 ›
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٦١
Bijan Moeinian
Their brother Lot said to them: “Why do you not choose righteousness?”
idh qāla lahum akhūhum lūṭun alā tattaqūn
26:162 ›
إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ۝١٦٢
Bijan Moeinian
“I am a true Prophet of God.”
innī lakum rasūlun amīnu
26:163 ›
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٦٣
Bijan Moeinian
“Respect the Lord and follow me.”
fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn
26:164 ›
وَمَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٦٤
Bijan Moeinian
“I am not asking any consulting fee from you. The Lord of the worlds supports me
wamā asalukum ʿalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā rabbi l-ʿālamīn
26:165 ›
أَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلذُّكۡرَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٦٥
Bijan Moeinian
“What is the matter with that, out of all creatures in the world, you are the only one who have adopted homosexuality? (even animals do not do that.)”
atatūna l-dhuk'rāna mina l-ʿālamīn
26:166 ›
وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمۡ رَبُّكُم مِّنۡ أَزۡوَ ٰجِكُمۚ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٌ عَادُونَ ۝١٦٦
Bijan Moeinian
“You have disgraced yourselves by marrying men instead of women as approved by your Lord.”
watadharūna mā khalaqa lakum rabbukum min azwājikum bal antum qawmun ʿādūn
26:167 ›
قَالُوا۟ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ یَـٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡرَجِینَ ۝١٦٧
Bijan Moeinian
They replied “If you do not stop preaching us, like the preachers before you, we will expel you out .”
qālū la-in lam tantahi yālūṭu latakūnanna mina l-mukh'rajīn
26:168 ›
قَالَ إِنِّی لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَالِینَ ۝١٦٨
Bijan Moeinian
He said, “Your behavior is disgusting.”
qāla innī liʿamalikum mina l-qālīn
26:169 ›
رَبِّ نَجِّنِی وَأَهۡلِی مِمَّا یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٦٩
Bijan Moeinian
Then he prayed: “My Lord, save me and my folks from the consequences of their style of life.”
rabbi najjinī wa-ahlī mimmā yaʿmalūn
26:170 ›
فَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥۤ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝١٧٠
Bijan Moeinian
Eventually I saved him and all his folks
fanajjaynāhu wa-ahlahu ajmaʿīn
26:171 ›
إِلَّا عَجُوزࣰا فِی ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٧١
Bijan Moeinian
Except that old woman; she was too corrupt
illā ʿajūzan fī l-ghābirīn
26:172 ›
ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝١٧٢
Bijan Moeinian
Then I destroyed the remaining sinners
thumma dammarnā l-ākharīn
26:173 ›
وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم مَّطَرࣰاۖ فَسَاۤءَ مَطَرُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِینَ ۝١٧٣
Bijan Moeinian
I sent them a shower. What a miserable shower. They had already bee warned about it
wa-amṭarnā ʿalayhim maṭaran fasāa maṭaru l-mundharīn
26:174 ›
إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٧٤

This is a great lesson; yet most people care less
inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn
26:175 ›
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٧٥

The fact is, your Lord is the Almighty, Most Merciful
wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm
10 History of Shu'aib
26:176 ›
كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ لۡءَیۡكَةِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٧٦
Bijan Moeinian
The people of Aiykah (near Midian) also rejected the prophet hood
kadhaba aṣḥābu al'aykati l-mur'salīn
26:177 ›
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ شُعَیۡبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٧٧
Bijan Moeinian
Shu‘aib said to them: “Why do you not choose the righteousness?”
idh qāla lahum shuʿaybun alā tattaqūn
26:178 ›
إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ۝١٧٨
Bijan Moeinian
“I am a true Messenger of God.”
innī lakum rasūlun amīnu
26:179 ›
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٧٩
Bijan Moeinian
“Respect the Lord, and follow me.”
fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn
26:180 ›
وَمَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٨٠
Bijan Moeinian
“I am not asking for any consulting fee; I am already being paid by the Lord of the worlds.”
wamā asalukum ʿalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā rabbi l-ʿālamīn
26:181 ›
۞ أَوۡفُوا۟ ٱلۡكَیۡلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡسِرِینَ ۝١٨١
Bijan Moeinian
“Give full measure when you trade; do not cheat.”
awfū l-kayla walā takūnū mina l-mukh'sirīn
26:182 ›
وَزِنُوا۟ بِٱلۡقِسۡطَاسِ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِیمِ ۝١٨٢
Bijan Moeinian
“Weigh with a right scale.”
wazinū bil-qis'ṭāsi l-mus'taqīm
26:183 ›
وَلَا تَبۡخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشۡیَاۤءَهُمۡ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِینَ ۝١٨٣
Bijan Moeinian
“Do not cheat the people out of their rights, and do not spread corruption on earth.”
walā tabkhasū l-nāsa ashyāahum walā taʿthaw fī l-arḍi muf'sidīn
26:184 ›
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَكُمۡ وَٱلۡجِبِلَّةَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٨٤
Bijan Moeinian
“Fear the One who created you, and those who lived before you.”
wa-ittaqū alladhī khalaqakum wal-jibilata l-awalīn
26:185 ›
قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَاۤ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِینَ ۝١٨٥
Bijan Moeinian
Their reply was: “You are possessed.”
qālū innamā anta mina l-musaḥarīn
26:186 ›
وَمَاۤ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡكَـٰذِبِینَ ۝١٨٦
Bijan Moeinian
“You are just a human being like us. The only difference is, you are a liar!”
wamā anta illā basharun mith'lunā wa-in naẓunnuka lamina l-kādhibīn
26:187 ›
فَأَسۡقِطۡ عَلَیۡنَا كِسَفࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٨٧
Bijan Moeinian
“if you are truthful, bombard us with masses from the sky!”
fa-asqiṭ ʿalaynā kisafan mina l-samāi in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn
26:188 ›
قَالَ رَبِّیۤ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٨٨
Bijan Moeinian
He replied: “My Lord is fully aware of your misdeed, (if He decides, He may grant your wish.)”
qāla rabbī aʿlamu bimā taʿmalūn
26:189 ›
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ عَذَابُ یَوۡمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمٍ ۝١٨٩
Bijan Moeinian
Thus they rejected him and, consequently, a Canopy (out of which they were being bombarded, as they has asked for) was sent for their punishment. It was an awesome day, an awesome punishment
fakadhabūhu fa-akhadhahum ʿadhābu yawmi l-ẓulati innahu kāna ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmi
26:190 ›
إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٩٠

This is a great lesson, yet most people care less
inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn
26:191 ›
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٩١

The fact is, your Lord is the Almighty, Most Merciful

11 Prophet's Opponents warned
26:192 ›
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِیلُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٩٢

rest assured that this Qur’an is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds
wa-innahu latanzīlu rabbi l-ʿālamīn

بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِیࣲّ مُّبِینࣲ ۝١٩٥

wa-innahu lafī zuburi l-awalīn

أَوَ لَمۡ یَكُن لَّهُمۡ ءَایَةً أَن یَعۡلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰۤؤُا۟ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝١٩٧

Is this not a sufficient proof for those who are being invited to Islam that the learned men of the Children of Israel know it
awalam yakun lahum āyatan an yaʿlamahu ʿulamāu banī is'rāīl
26:198 ›
وَلَوۡ نَزَّلۡنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضِ ٱلۡأَعۡجَمِینَ ۝١٩٨
Bijan Moeinian
If I had sent this Qur’an [in another language (as they wish it would have been sent!)]…
walaw nazzalnāhu ʿalā baʿḍi l-aʿjamīn
26:199 ›
فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَیۡهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٩٩

still they would have believed in it
faqara-ahu ʿalayhim mā kānū bihi mu'minīn
26:200 ›
كَذَ ٰلِكَ سَلَكۡنَـٰهُ فِی قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٢٠٠
Bijan Moeinian
This is why I render it (like a foreign language) in the hearts of the criminals [so that they do not get it.]
kadhālika salaknāhu fī qulūbi l-muj'rimīn
26:201 ›
لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ یَرَوُا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِیمَ ۝٢٠١
Bijan Moeinian
Thus, they cannot believe in it; not until they face their painful punishment which will come to them all of a sudden, …
lā yu'minūna bihi ḥattā yarawū l-ʿadhāba l-alīm
26:202 ›
فَیَأۡتِیَهُم بَغۡتَةࣰ وَهُمۡ لَا یَشۡعُرُونَ ۝٢٠٢
Bijan Moeinian
when they least expect it
fayatiyahum baghtatan wahum lā yashʿurūn
26:203 ›
فَیَقُولُوا۟ هَلۡ نَحۡنُ مُنظَرُونَ ۝٢٠٣
Bijan Moeinian
They will then say: “May we have a second chance?”
fayaqūlū hal naḥnu munẓarūn
26:204 ›
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ ۝٢٠٤
Bijan Moeinian
They are the ones who challenged Me to punish them (and now, that their wish is granted, they come with another wish!
afabiʿadhābinā yastaʿjilūn
26:205 ›
أَفَرَءَیۡتَ إِن مَّتَّعۡنَـٰهُمۡ سِنِینَ ۝٢٠٥
Bijan Moeinian
As you see, I tolerated them for so many years
afara-ayta in mattaʿnāhum sinīn
26:206 ›
ثُمَّ جَاۤءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یُوعَدُونَ ۝٢٠٦
Bijan Moeinian
Now it is time that I punish them as I had promises
thumma jāahum mā kānū yūʿadūn
26:207 ›
مَاۤ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یُمَتَّعُونَ ۝٢٠٧
Bijan Moeinian
Their material possessions did not help them the least
mā aghnā ʿanhum mā kānū yumattaʿūn
26:208 ›
وَمَاۤ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡیَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ ۝٢٠٨

It is not My style to destroy any nation without sending ample warnings
wamā ahlaknā min qaryatin illā lahā mundhirūn
26:209 ›
ذِكۡرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٢٠٩
Bijan Moeinian
This is your warning; do not say that I was unjust
dhik'rā wamā kunnā ẓālimīn
26:210 ›
وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتۡ بِهِ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینُ ۝٢١٠
Bijan Moeinian
It is against the nature of the devils to come with guidance like this
wamā tanazzalat bihi l-shayāṭīn
26:211 ›
وَمَا یَنۢبَغِی لَهُمۡ وَمَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ ۝٢١١
Bijan Moeinian
They neither would (because of their evil nature,) nor could (because of their inability to understand the goodness.
wamā yanbaghī lahum wamā yastaṭīʿūn
26:212 ›
إِنَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّمۡعِ لَمَعۡزُولُونَ ۝٢١٢
Bijan Moeinian
They (like the evil people who become angry when Qur’an is being recited to them) cannot even listen to it (as it hurts them.
innahum ʿani l-samʿi lamaʿzūlūn
26:213 ›
فَلَا تَدۡعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُعَذَّبِینَ ۝٢١٣
Bijan Moeinian
Now, if you do not want to end up with those who will be subjected to the punishment, simply do not worship any other God (in any form and shape such as attachment to the worldly materials, wife, woman, children social status, position at work, the boss, the governor, etc.
falā tadʿu maʿa l-lahi ilāhan ākhara fatakūna mina l-muʿadhabīn
26:214 ›
وَأَنذِرۡ عَشِیرَتَكَ ٱلۡأَقۡرَبِینَ ۝٢١٤
Bijan Moeinian
Preach the truth to the people who are closest to you
wa-andhir ʿashīrataka l-aqrabīn
26:215 ›
وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٢١٥
Bijan Moeinian
Treat the believers who follow you with kindness
wa-ikh'fiḍ janāḥaka limani ittabaʿaka mina l-mu'minīn
26:216 ›
فَإِنۡ عَصَوۡكَ فَقُلۡ إِنِّی بَرِیۤءࣱ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٢١٦
Bijan Moeinian
If they rebel, say: “I am not responsible for what you do.”
fa-in ʿaṣawka faqul innī barīon mimmā taʿmalūn
26:217 ›
وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱلۡعَزِیزِ ٱلرَّحِیمِ ۝٢١٧

Put your trust in the Almighty, Most Merciful
watawakkal ʿalā l-ʿazīzi l-raḥīm
26:218 ›
ٱلَّذِی یَرَىٰكَ حِینَ تَقُومُ ۝٢١٨
Bijan Moeinian
He sees you when you worship Him at night
alladhī yarāka ḥīna taqūm
26:219 ›
وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِی ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ ۝٢١٩
Bijan Moeinian
He sees you when you worship Him falling in prostration
wataqallubaka fī l-sājidīn
26:220 ›
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٢٢٠

God hears everything and knows everything
innahu huwa l-samīʿu l-ʿalīm
26:221 ›
هَلۡ أُنَبِّئُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینُ ۝٢٢١

Do you want to know upon whom the devils descend
hal unabbi-ukum ʿalā man tanazzalu l-shayāṭīn
26:222 ›
تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِیمࣲ ۝٢٢٢
Bijan Moeinian
They descend upon every sinner who fabricates lies (fortune tellers, those who falsify the word of God, those who lie, and those who disobey the Lord’s commandments.
tanazzalu ʿalā kulli affākin athīmi
26:223 ›
یُلۡقُونَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ كَـٰذِبُونَ ۝٢٢٣

Such people whisper hearsay into ears, but most of them are liars
yul'qūna l-samʿa wa-aktharuhum kādhibūn
26:224 ›
وَٱلشُّعَرَاۤءُ یَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ ۝٢٢٤
Bijan Moeinian
As for the poets (and the artists who visit our houses constantly with their enchanting works,) they enchant only those who reject God pleasing moral standards
wal-shuʿarāu yattabiʿuhumu l-ghāwūn
26:225 ›
أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِی كُلِّ وَادࣲ یَهِیمُونَ ۝٢٢٥

Do you not see that their opinion changes according to the situation
alam tara annahum fī kulli wādin yahīmūn
26:226 ›
وَأَنَّهُمۡ یَقُولُونَ مَا لَا یَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٢٢٦

Actually, they preach what they do not do
wa-annahum yaqūlūna mā lā yafʿalūn
26:227 ›
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِیرࣰا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ۗ وَسَیَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوۤا۟ أَیَّ مُنقَلَبࣲ یَنقَلِبُونَ ۝٢٢٧

Only those artists are saved who choose to believe, do good deeds, mentions the Lord frequently and use justice as their criterion in their fights. As for the wrongdoers, pretty soon they will come to know the punishment which awaits the
illā alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti wadhakarū l-laha kathīran wa-intaṣarū min baʿdi mā ẓulimū wasayaʿlamu alladhīna ẓalamū ayya munqalabin yanqalibūn
