قَالَ ءَامَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ قَبۡلَ أَنۡ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِیرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِی عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحۡرَ فَلَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَیۡدِیَكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُم مِّنۡ خِلَـٰفࣲ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٤٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Pharaoh said: You believed in him before I give permission to you? He is, truly, your foremost master who taught you sorcery. Then, you will know. I will, certainly, cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you to be crucified one and all.

qāla āmantum lahu qabla an ādhana lakum innahu lakabīrukumu alladhī ʿallamakumu l-siḥ'ra falasawfa taʿlamūna la-uqaṭṭiʿanna aydiyakum wa-arjulakum min khilāfin wala-uṣallibannakum ajmaʿīn

26:50

قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَیۡرَۖ إِنَّاۤ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ ۝٥٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

They said: No grievance. Truly, to our Lord we are ones who are turning.

qālū lā ḍayra innā ilā rabbinā munqalibūn

26:51

إِنَّا نَطۡمَعُ أَن یَغۡفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـٰیَـٰنَاۤ أَن كُنَّاۤ أَوَّلَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٥١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, we are desirous that Our Lord forgive us our transgressions that we had been the first of the ones who believe.

innā naṭmaʿu an yaghfira lanā rabbunā khaṭāyānā an kunnā awwala l-mu'minīn

26:52

۞ وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنۡ أَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِیۤ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ ۝٥٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And We revealed to Moses saying that: Set thou forth by night with My servants. Truly, you are ones who will be followed.

wa-awḥaynā ilā mūsā an asri biʿibādī innakum muttabaʿūn

26:53

فَأَرۡسَلَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ فِی ٱلۡمَدَاۤىِٕنِ حَـٰشِرِینَ ۝٥٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Then, Pharaoh sent to the cities, ones who summon.

fa-arsala fir'ʿawnu fī l-madāini ḥāshirīn

26:54

إِنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ لَشِرۡذِمَةࣱ قَلِیلُونَ ۝٥٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

They said: These are, truly, a small crowd

inna hāulāi lashir'dhimatun qalīlūn

26:55

وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَنَا لَغَاۤىِٕظُونَ ۝٥٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and, truly, they are ones who enrage us.

wa-innahum lanā laghāiẓūn

26:56

وَإِنَّا لَجَمِیعٌ حَـٰذِرُونَ ۝٥٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

We are altogether, truly, ones who are cautious.

wa-innā lajamīʿun ḥādhirūn

26:57

فَأَخۡرَجۡنَـٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونࣲ ۝٥٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

So We drove them out from the gardens and springs

fa-akhrajnāhum min jannātin waʿuyūni

26:58

وَكُنُوزࣲ وَمَقَامࣲ كَرِیمࣲ ۝٥٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and treasures and a generous station.

wakunūzin wamaqāmin karīmi

26:59

كَذَ ٰلِكَۖ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَـٰهَا بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝٥٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And We, thus, gave them as inheritance to the Children of Israel.

kadhālika wa-awrathnāhā banī is'rāīl

26:60

فَأَتۡبَعُوهُم مُّشۡرِقِینَ ۝٦٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

So they pursued them at sunrise.

fa-atbaʿūhum mush'riqīn

26:61

فَلَمَّا تَرَ ٰۤءَا ٱلۡجَمۡعَانِ قَالَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ مُوسَىٰۤ إِنَّا لَمُدۡرَكُونَ ۝٦١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Then, when the two multitudes sighted each other, the Companions of Moses said: Truly, we are ones who are to be overtaken.

falammā tarāā l-jamʿāni qāla aṣḥābu mūsā innā lamud'rakūn

26:62

قَالَ كَلَّاۤۖ إِنَّ مَعِیَ رَبِّی سَیَهۡدِینِ ۝٦٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Moses said: No indeed. Truly, my Lord is with me and He will guide me.

qāla kallā inna maʿiya rabbī sayahdīn

26:63

فَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنِ ٱضۡرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرۡقࣲ كَٱلطَّوۡدِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٦٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Then, We revealed to Moses saying that: Strike the sea with thy staff and it divided and each had been a separate part like a high, tremendous mountain.

fa-awḥaynā ilā mūsā ani iḍ'rib biʿaṣāka l-baḥra fa-infalaqa fakāna kullu fir'qin kal-ṭawdi l-ʿaẓīm

26:64

وَأَزۡلَفۡنَا ثَمَّ ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝٦٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And, again, We brought the others close

wa-azlafnā thamma l-ākharīn

26:65

وَأَنجَیۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥۤ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝٦٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and We rescued Moses and whoever was with him, one and all.

wa-anjaynā mūsā waman maʿahu ajmaʿīn

26:66

ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝٦٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Again, We drowned the others.

thumma aghraqnā l-ākharīn

26:67

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٦٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, in this is a sign and yet most of them had not been ones who believe.

inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn

26:68

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٦٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And, truly, thy Lord, He is The Almighty, The Compassionate.

wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm

26:69

وَٱتۡلُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ نَبَأَ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ ۝٦٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And recount to them the tidings of Abraham

wa-ut'lu ʿalayhim naba-a ib'rāhīm

26:70

إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٧٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

when he said to his father and his folk: What is it you worship?

idh qāla li-abīhi waqawmihi mā taʿbudūn

26:71

قَالُوا۟ نَعۡبُدُ أَصۡنَامࣰا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِینَ ۝٧١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

They said: We worship idols. We will stay ones who give ourselves up to them.

qālū naʿbudu aṣnāman fanaẓallu lahā ʿākifīn

26:72

قَالَ هَلۡ یَسۡمَعُونَكُمۡ إِذۡ تَدۡعُونَ ۝٧٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

He said: Hear they when you call them?

qāla hal yasmaʿūnakum idh tadʿūn

26:73

أَوۡ یَنفَعُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ یَضُرُّونَ ۝٧٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Or are they profiting you or hurting you?

aw yanfaʿūnakum aw yaḍurrūn

26:74

قَالُوا۟ بَلۡ وَجَدۡنَاۤ ءَابَاۤءَنَا كَذَ ٰلِكَ یَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٧٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

They said: Nay! But we found our fathers acting likewise.

qālū bal wajadnā ābāanā kadhālika yafʿalūn

26:75

قَالَ أَفَرَءَیۡتُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٧٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

He said: Then, considered what you had been worshipping,

qāla afara-aytum mā kuntum taʿbudūn

26:76

أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَاۤؤُكُمُ ٱلۡأَقۡدَمُونَ ۝٧٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

you and your fathers, the elders?

antum waābāukumu l-aqdamūn

26:77

فَإِنَّهُمۡ عَدُوࣱّ لِّیۤ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٧٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, they are an enemy to me, but not so the Lord of the worlds

fa-innahum ʿaduwwun lī illā rabba l-ʿālamīn

26:78

ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَنِی فَهُوَ یَهۡدِینِ ۝٧٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Who created me. And it is He Who guides me.

alladhī khalaqanī fahuwa yahdīn

26:79

وَٱلَّذِی هُوَ یُطۡعِمُنِی وَیَسۡقِینِ ۝٧٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And that He Who feeds me and gives me drink.

wa-alladhī huwa yuṭ'ʿimunī wayasqīn

26:80

وَإِذَا مَرِضۡتُ فَهُوَ یَشۡفِینِ ۝٨٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And when I was sick, it is He Who heals me

wa-idhā mariḍ'tu fahuwa yashfīn

26:81

وَٱلَّذِی یُمِیتُنِی ثُمَّ یُحۡیِینِ ۝٨١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and Who causes me to die, again, will give me life,

wa-alladhī yumītunī thumma yuḥ'yīn

26:82

وَٱلَّذِیۤ أَطۡمَعُ أَن یَغۡفِرَ لِی خَطِیۤءَتِی یَوۡمَ ٱلدِّینِ ۝٨٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and from Whom I am desirous that He will forgive me my transgressions on the Day of Judgment.

wa-alladhī aṭmaʿu an yaghfira lī khaṭīatī yawma l-dīn

26:83

رَبِّ هَبۡ لِی حُكۡمࣰا وَأَلۡحِقۡنِی بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝٨٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

My Lord! Bestow on me critical judgment and cause me to join with the ones in accord with morality.

rabbi hab lī ḥuk'man wa-alḥiq'nī bil-ṣāliḥīn

26:84

وَٱجۡعَل لِّی لِسَانَ صِدۡقࣲ فِی ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝٨٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And assign me a good name of good repute with the later ones

wa-ij'ʿal lī lisāna ṣid'qin fī l-ākhirīn

26:85

وَٱجۡعَلۡنِی مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِیمِ ۝٨٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and make me one who inherits the Garden of Bliss.

wa-ij'ʿalnī min warathati jannati l-naʿīm

26:86

وَٱغۡفِرۡ لِأَبِیۤ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّاۤلِّینَ ۝٨٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And forgive my father. Truly, he had been among the ones who go astray.

wa-igh'fir li-abī innahu kāna mina l-ḍālīn

26:87

وَلَا تُخۡزِنِی یَوۡمَ یُبۡعَثُونَ ۝٨٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And cover me not with shame on a Day they will be raised up,

walā tukh'zinī yawma yub'ʿathūn

26:88

یَوۡمَ لَا یَنفَعُ مَالࣱ وَلَا بَنُونَ ۝٨٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

on a Day neither wealth will profit nor children

yawma lā yanfaʿu mālun walā banūn

26:89

إِلَّا مَنۡ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلۡبࣲ سَلِیمࣲ ۝٨٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

but he who approached God with a pure-hearted heart.

illā man atā l-laha biqalbin salīmi

26:90

وَأُزۡلِفَتِ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝٩٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And the Garden will be brought close for the ones who are Godfearing

wa-uz'lifati l-janatu lil'muttaqīn

26:91

وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِیمُ لِلۡغَاوِینَ ۝٩١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and hellfire will be advanced for the ones who are in error.

waburrizati l-jaḥīmu lil'ghāwīn

26:92

وَقِیلَ لَهُمۡ أَیۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٩٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And it will be said to them: Where is what you had been worshipping

waqīla lahum ayna mā kuntum taʿbudūn

26:93

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلۡ یَنصُرُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ یَنتَصِرُونَ ۝٩٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

instead of God? Are you helped by them? Or help they themselves?

min dūni l-lahi hal yanṣurūnakum aw yantaṣirūn

26:94

فَكُبۡكِبُوا۟ فِیهَا هُمۡ وَٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ ۝٩٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Then, they were thrown down into it, they and the ones who are in error,

fakub'kibū fīhā hum wal-ghāwūn

26:95

وَجُنُودُ إِبۡلِیسَ أَجۡمَعُونَ ۝٩٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and the army of Iblis, one and all.

wajunūdu ib'līsa ajmaʿūn

26:96

قَالُوا۟ وَهُمۡ فِیهَا یَخۡتَصِمُونَ ۝٩٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And they said while they are in it striving against one another:

qālū wahum fīhā yakhtaṣimūn

26:97

تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینٍ ۝٩٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

By God! Truly, we had been clearly wandering astray

tal-lahi in kunnā lafī ḍalālin mubīni

26:98

إِذۡ نُسَوِّیكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٩٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

when we made you equal with the Lord of the worlds.

idh nusawwīkum birabbi l-ʿālamīn

26:99

وَمَاۤ أَضَلَّنَاۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٩٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And no one caused us to go astray but the ones who sin.

wamā aḍallanā illā l-muj'rimūn

26:100

فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَـٰفِعِینَ ۝١٠٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Now we have not ones who are intercessors

famā lanā min shāfiʿīn

26:101

وَلَا صَدِیقٍ حَمِیمࣲ ۝١٠١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

nor an ardent friend, a loyal friend.

walā ṣadīqin ḥamīmi

26:102

فَلَوۡ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةࣰ فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٠٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Would that there were for us a return again. Then, we would be among the ones who believe!

falaw anna lanā karratan fanakūna mina l-mu'minīn

26:103

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٠٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, in this is a sign; yet most of them had not been ones who believe.

inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn

26:104

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٠٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And, truly, thy Lord, He is The Almighty, The Compassionate.

wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm

26:105

كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٠٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

The folk of Noah denied the ones who are sent

kadhabat qawmu nūḥin l-mur'salīn

26:106

إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٠٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

when their brother, Noah, said to them: Will you not be Godfearing?

idh qāla lahum akhūhum nūḥun alā tattaqūn

26:107

إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ۝١٠٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, I am a trustworthy Messenger to you

innī lakum rasūlun amīnu

26:108

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٠٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

so be Godfearing of God and obey me.

fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn

26:109

وَمَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٠٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And I ask you not for any compensation for it. My compensation is only from the Lord of the worlds.

wamā asalukum ʿalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā rabbi l-ʿālamīn

26:110

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١١٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

So be Godfearing of God and obey you me.

fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn

26:111

۞ قَالُوۤا۟ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلۡأَرۡذَلُونَ ۝١١١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

They said: Will we believe in thee when it is the most wretched that followed thee?

qālū anu'minu laka wa-ittabaʿaka l-ardhalūn

26:112

قَالَ وَمَا عِلۡمِی بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١١٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

He said: And what knowledge have I of what they had been doing?

qāla wamā ʿil'mī bimā kānū yaʿmalūn

26:113

إِنۡ حِسَابُهُمۡ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّیۖ لَوۡ تَشۡعُرُونَ ۝١١٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, their reckoning is but with my Lord if you be aware.

in ḥisābuhum illā ʿalā rabbī law tashʿurūn

26:114

وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١١٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

I am not one who drives away the ones who believe.

wamā anā biṭāridi l-mu'minīn

26:115

إِنۡ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِیرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝١١٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

I am not but a clear warner.

in anā illā nadhīrun mubīnu

26:116

قَالُوا۟ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ یَـٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمَرۡجُومِینَ ۝١١٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

They said: If thou hast not refrained thyself, O Noah, thou wilt, certainly, be among the ones who are stoned!

qālū la-in lam tantahi yānūḥu latakūnanna mina l-marjūmīn

26:117

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوۡمِی كَذَّبُونِ ۝١١٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

He said: My Lord! My folk denied me,

qāla rabbi inna qawmī kadhabūn

26:118

فَٱفۡتَحۡ بَیۡنِی وَبَیۡنَهُمۡ فَتۡحࣰا وَنَجِّنِی وَمَن مَّعِیَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١١٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

so give Thou deliverance between me and them and victory and deliver me and whoever is with me among the ones who believe.

fa-if'taḥ baynī wabaynahum fatḥan wanajjinī waman maʿiya mina l-mu'minīn

26:119

فَأَنجَیۡنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِی ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ ۝١١٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And We rescued him and whoever was with him in the laden boat.

fa-anjaynāhu waman maʿahu fī l-ful'ki l-mashḥūn

26:120

ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا بَعۡدُ ٱلۡبَاقِینَ ۝١٢٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Again, We drowned after that the ones who remained.

thumma aghraqnā baʿdu l-bāqīn

26:121

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٢١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

In this is, truly, a sign, yet most of them had not been ones who believe.

inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn

26:122

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٢٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Thy Lord, He, truly, is The Almighty, The Compassionate.

wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm

26:123

كَذَّبَتۡ عَادٌ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٢٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Ad denied the ones who are sent

kadhabat ʿādun l-mur'salīn

26:124

إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٢٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

when their brother Hud said to them: Will you not be Godfearing?

idh qāla lahum akhūhum hūdun alā tattaqūn

26:125

إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ۝١٢٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, I am a trustworthy Messenger to you,

innī lakum rasūlun amīnu

26:126

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٢٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

so be Godfearing of God and obey me.

fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn

26:127

وَمَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٢٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And I ask you not for any compensation for it. My compensation is only from the Lord of the worlds.

wamā asalukum ʿalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā rabbi l-ʿālamīn

26:128

أَتَبۡنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِیعٍ ءَایَةࣰ تَعۡبَثُونَ ۝١٢٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Build you a sign on every high hill to amuse?

atabnūna bikulli rīʿin āyatan taʿbathūn

26:129

وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَخۡلُدُونَ ۝١٢٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And take you for yourselves castles so that perhaps you will dwell in them forever?

watattakhidhūna maṣāniʿa laʿallakum takhludūn

26:130

وَإِذَا بَطَشۡتُم بَطَشۡتُمۡ جَبَّارِینَ ۝١٣٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And when you seized by force, seized you by force haughtily?

wa-idhā baṭashtum baṭashtum jabbārīn

26:131

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٣١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

So be Godfearing of God and obey me.

fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn

26:132

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١٣٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Be Godfearing of Him Who furnished relief to you with all that you know.

wa-ittaqū alladhī amaddakum bimā taʿlamūn

26:133

أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنۡعَـٰمࣲ وَبَنِینَ ۝١٣٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

He furnished relief to you with flocks and children

amaddakum bi-anʿāmin wabanīn

26:134

وَجَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونٍ ۝١٣٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and gardens and springs.

wajannātin waʿuyūni

26:135

إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝١٣٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous Day.

innī akhāfu ʿalaykum ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmi

26:136

قَالُوا۟ سَوَاۤءٌ عَلَیۡنَاۤ أَوَعَظۡتَ أَمۡ لَمۡ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡوَ ٰعِظِینَ ۝١٣٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

They said: It is equal to us whether thou wert to admonish or thou hast not been among the ones who admonish.

qālū sawāon ʿalaynā awaʿaẓta am lam takun mina l-wāʿiẓīn

26:137

إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٣٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, this is nothing but morals of the ancient ones

in hādhā illā khuluqu l-awalīn

26:138

وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِینَ ۝١٣٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and we are not ones who are punished.

wamā naḥnu bimuʿadhabīn

26:139

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهۡلَكۡنَـٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٣٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

So they denied him and We caused them to perish. Truly, in this is a sign yet most of them had not been ones who believe.

fakadhabūhu fa-ahlaknāhum inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn

26:140

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٤٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And, truly, thy Lord, He is, certainly, The Almighty, The Compassionate.

wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm

26:141

كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٤١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And Thamud denied the ones who are sent

kadhabat thamūdu l-mur'salīn

26:142

إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ صَـٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٤٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

when their brother Salih said to them: Will you not be Godfearing?

idh qāla lahum akhūhum ṣāliḥun alā tattaqūn

26:143

إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ۝١٤٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, I am a trustworthy Messenger to you,

innī lakum rasūlun amīnu

26:144

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٤٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

so be Godfearing of God and obey me.

fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn

26:145

وَمَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٤٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And I ask you not for any compensation for it. My compensation is only from the Lord of the worlds.

wamā asalukum ʿalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā rabbi l-ʿālamīn

26:146

أَتُتۡرَكُونَ فِی مَا هَـٰهُنَاۤ ءَامِنِینَ ۝١٤٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Will you be left ones who are safe in what you have here

atut'rakūna fī mā hāhunā āminīn

26:147

فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونࣲ ۝١٤٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

in gardens and springs

fī jannātin waʿuyūni

26:148

وَزُرُوعࣲ وَنَخۡلࣲ طَلۡعُهَا هَضِیمࣱ ۝١٤٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and crops of slender spathes of date palm trees?

wazurūʿin wanakhlin ṭalʿuhā haḍīmu

26:149

وَتَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُیُوتࣰا فَـٰرِهِینَ ۝١٤٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Will you carve houses out of the mountains as ones who are skillful?

watanḥitūna mina l-jibāli buyūtan fārihīn

26:150

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٥٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

So be Godfearing of God and obey me.

fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn

26:151

وَلَا تُطِیعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ ۝١٥١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Obey not the command of the ones who are excessive,

walā tuṭīʿū amra l-mus'rifīn

26:152

ٱلَّذِینَ یُفۡسِدُونَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا یُصۡلِحُونَ ۝١٥٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

who make corruption in and on the earth and make not things right.

alladhīna yuf'sidūna fī l-arḍi walā yuṣ'liḥūn

26:153

قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَاۤ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِینَ ۝١٥٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

They said: Truly, thou art only of the ones against whom a spell is cast.

qālū innamā anta mina l-musaḥarīn

26:154

مَاۤ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُنَا فَأۡتِ بِءَایَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٥٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Thou art not but a mortal like us. So bring us a sign if thou hadst been of the ones who are sincere.

mā anta illā basharun mith'lunā fati biāyatin in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn

26:155

قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةࣱ لَّهَا شِرۡبࣱ وَلَكُمۡ شِرۡبُ یَوۡمࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ ۝١٥٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

He said: This is a she camel. She has a right to drink and you have a right to drink on a known day.

qāla hādhihi nāqatun lahā shir'bun walakum shir'bu yawmin maʿlūmi

26:156

وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوۤءࣲ فَیَأۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابُ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝١٥٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And afflict her not with evil so that you should take the punishment of a tremendous Day.

walā tamassūhā bisūin fayakhudhakum ʿadhābu yawmin ʿaẓīmi

26:157

فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصۡبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِینَ ۝١٥٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

But they crippled her and, then, it came to be in the morning that they are ones who are remorseful.

faʿaqarūhā fa-aṣbaḥū nādimīn

26:158

فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٥٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

So the punishment took them. Truly, in this is a sign yet most of them had not been ones who believe.

fa-akhadhahumu l-ʿadhābu inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn

26:159

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٥٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And, truly, thy Lord! He is, certainly, The Almighty, The Compassionate.

wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm

26:160

كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٦٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

The folk of Lot denied the ones who are sent

kadhabat qawmu lūṭin l-mur'salīn

26:161

إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٦١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

when their brother, Lot, said to them: Will you not be Godfearing?

idh qāla lahum akhūhum lūṭun alā tattaqūn

26:162

إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ۝١٦٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, I am a trustworthy Messenger to you

innī lakum rasūlun amīnu

26:163

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٦٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

so be Godfearing of God and obey me.

fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn

26:164

وَمَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٦٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And I ask you not for any compensation for it. My compensation is only from the Lord of the worlds.

wamā asalukum ʿalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā rabbi l-ʿālamīn

26:165

أَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلذُّكۡرَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٦٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

You approach males among worldly beings

atatūna l-dhuk'rāna mina l-ʿālamīn

26:166

وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمۡ رَبُّكُم مِّنۡ أَزۡوَ ٰجِكُمۚ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٌ عَادُونَ ۝١٦٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

forsaking spouses whom your Lord created for you? Nay! You are a folk ones who turn away.

watadharūna mā khalaqa lakum rabbukum min azwājikum bal antum qawmun ʿādūn

26:167

قَالُوا۟ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ یَـٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡرَجِینَ ۝١٦٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

They said: If thou hast not refrained thyself, O Lot, thou wilt, certainly, be among ones who are driven out.

qālū la-in lam tantahi yālūṭu latakūnanna mina l-mukh'rajīn

26:168

قَالَ إِنِّی لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَالِینَ ۝١٦٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

He said: I am of the ones with hatred for your actions.

qāla innī liʿamalikum mina l-qālīn

26:169

رَبِّ نَجِّنِی وَأَهۡلِی مِمَّا یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٦٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

My Lord! Deliver me and my people from what they do!

rabbi najjinī wa-ahlī mimmā yaʿmalūn

26:170

فَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥۤ أَجۡمَعِینَ ۝١٧٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

So We delivered him and his people one and all

fanajjaynāhu wa-ahlahu ajmaʿīn

26:171

إِلَّا عَجُوزࣰا فِی ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ ۝١٧١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

but an old woman of the ones who stay behind.

illā ʿajūzan fī l-ghābirīn

26:172

ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡءَاخَرِینَ ۝١٧٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Again, We destroyed the others

thumma dammarnā l-ākharīn

26:173

وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم مَّطَرࣰاۖ فَسَاۤءَ مَطَرُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِینَ ۝١٧٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and We rained down on them a rain. And how evil was the rain for the ones who are warned!

wa-amṭarnā ʿalayhim maṭaran fasāa maṭaru l-mundharīn

26:174

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٧٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, in this is a sign. Yet most of them had not been ones who believe.

inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn

26:175

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٧٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And, truly, thy Lord, He is, certainly, The Almighty, The Compassionate.

wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm

26:176

كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ لۡءَیۡكَةِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٧٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

The Companions of the Thicket denied the ones who are sent.

kadhaba aṣḥābu al'aykati l-mur'salīn

26:177

إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ شُعَیۡبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝١٧٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

When Shuayb said to them: Will you not be Godfearing?

idh qāla lahum shuʿaybun alā tattaqūn

26:178

إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ۝١٧٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, I am a trustworthy Messenger to you

innī lakum rasūlun amīnu

26:179

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝١٧٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

so be Godfearing of God and obey me.

fa-ittaqū l-laha wa-aṭīʿūn

26:180

وَمَاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٨٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And I ask you not for any compensation for it. My compensation is only from the Lord of the worlds.

wamā asalukum ʿalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā rabbi l-ʿālamīn

26:181

۞ أَوۡفُوا۟ ٱلۡكَیۡلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡسِرِینَ ۝١٨١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Live up to the full measure and be not of the ones who cause loss to others by fraud.

awfū l-kayla walā takūnū mina l-mukh'sirīn

26:182

وَزِنُوا۟ بِٱلۡقِسۡطَاسِ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِیمِ ۝١٨٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And weigh with a straight scale

wazinū bil-qis'ṭāsi l-mus'taqīm

26:183

وَلَا تَبۡخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشۡیَاۤءَهُمۡ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِینَ ۝١٨٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and diminish not to humanity their things nor do mischief in or on the earth as ones who make corruption.

walā tabkhasū l-nāsa ashyāahum walā taʿthaw fī l-arḍi muf'sidīn

26:184

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَكُمۡ وَٱلۡجِبِلَّةَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٨٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And be Godfearing of Him Who created you and the array of the ancient ones.

wa-ittaqū alladhī khalaqakum wal-jibilata l-awalīn

26:185

قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَاۤ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِینَ ۝١٨٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

They said: Thou art only ones against whom a spell is cast.

qālū innamā anta mina l-musaḥarīn

26:186

وَمَاۤ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡكَـٰذِبِینَ ۝١٨٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And thou art nothing but a mortal like us. And, truly, we think thee to be among the ones who lie.

wamā anta illā basharun mith'lunā wa-in naẓunnuka lamina l-kādhibīn

26:187

فَأَسۡقِطۡ عَلَیۡنَا كِسَفࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٨٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

So cause pieces of heaven to drop on us, if you had been among the ones who are sincere.

fa-asqiṭ ʿalaynā kisafan mina l-samāi in kunta mina l-ṣādiqīn

26:188

قَالَ رَبِّیۤ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٨٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

He said: My Lord is greater in knowledge of what you do.

qāla rabbī aʿlamu bimā taʿmalūn

26:189

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ عَذَابُ یَوۡمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمٍ ۝١٨٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

But they denied him. So took them the punishment on the overshadowing day. Truly, that had been the punishment of a tremendous Day!

fakadhabūhu fa-akhadhahum ʿadhābu yawmi l-ẓulati innahu kāna ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmi

26:190

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٩٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, in this is a sign. Yet most of them had not been ones who believe.

inna fī dhālika laāyatan wamā kāna aktharuhum mu'minīn

26:191

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٩١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And, truly, thy Lord, He is, certainly, The Almighty, The Compassionate.

wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīm

26:192

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِیلُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝١٩٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And this, truly, is the sending down successively of the Lord of the worlds

wa-innahu latanzīlu rabbi l-ʿālamīn

26:193

نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلۡأَمِینُ ۝١٩٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

that the Trustworthy Spirit brought down

nazala bihi l-rūḥu l-amīn

26:194

عَلَىٰ قَلۡبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنذِرِینَ ۝١٩٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

on thy heart that thou be among the one who warn

bilisānin ʿarabiyyin mubīni

26:195

بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِیࣲّ مُّبِینࣲ ۝١٩٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

in a clear Arabic tongue.

Bilisanin AAarabiyyin mubeenin

26:196

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِی زُبُرِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٩٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And, truly, it is in the ancient scrolls of the ancient ones.

wa-innahu lafī zuburi l-awalīn

26:197

أَوَ لَمۡ یَكُن لَّهُمۡ ءَایَةً أَن یَعۡلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰۤؤُا۟ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝١٩٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Would it not be a sign for them that is known to the knowing among the Children of Israel?

awalam yakun lahum āyatan an yaʿlamahu ʿulamāu banī is'rāīl

26:198

وَلَوۡ نَزَّلۡنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضِ ٱلۡأَعۡجَمِینَ ۝١٩٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And if We sent it down to some of the non-Arabs,

walaw nazzalnāhu ʿalā baʿḍi l-aʿjamīn

26:199

فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَیۡهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٩٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and he recited it to them, they had not been ones who believe in it.

faqara-ahu ʿalayhim mā kānū bihi mu'minīn

26:200

كَذَ ٰلِكَ سَلَكۡنَـٰهُ فِی قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ ۝٢٠٠

Thus, We thrust it into the hearts of the ones who sin.

kadhālika salaknāhu fī qulūbi l-muj'rimīn

26:201

لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ یَرَوُا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِیمَ ۝٢٠١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.

lā yu'minūna bihi ḥattā yarawū l-ʿadhāba l-alīm

26:202

فَیَأۡتِیَهُم بَغۡتَةࣰ وَهُمۡ لَا یَشۡعُرُونَ ۝٢٠٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Then, it will approach them suddenly while they are not aware.

fayatiyahum baghtatan wahum lā yashʿurūn

26:203

فَیَقُولُوا۟ هَلۡ نَحۡنُ مُنظَرُونَ ۝٢٠٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Then, they will say: Are we ones who are given respite?

fayaqūlū hal naḥnu munẓarūn

26:204

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ ۝٢٠٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Seek they to hasten Our punishment?

afabiʿadhābinā yastaʿjilūn

26:205

أَفَرَءَیۡتَ إِن مَّتَّعۡنَـٰهُمۡ سِنِینَ ۝٢٠٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Hadst thou considered that if We gave them enjoyment for years

afara-ayta in mattaʿnāhum sinīn

26:206

ثُمَّ جَاۤءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یُوعَدُونَ ۝٢٠٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and, again, there drew near them what they had been promised,

thumma jāahum mā kānū yūʿadūn

26:207

مَاۤ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یُمَتَّعُونَ ۝٢٠٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

they would not be availed by what they had been given of enjoyment?

mā aghnā ʿanhum mā kānū yumattaʿūn

26:208

وَمَاۤ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡیَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ ۝٢٠٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

We caused no town to perish but that it had ones who warn

wamā ahlaknā min qaryatin illā lahā mundhirūn

26:209

ذِكۡرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِینَ ۝٢٠٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

as a reminder. And We had not been ones who are unjust.

dhik'rā wamā kunnā ẓālimīn

26:210

وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتۡ بِهِ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینُ ۝٢١٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

It came not forth by the satans

wamā tanazzalat bihi l-shayāṭīn

26:211

وَمَا یَنۢبَغِی لَهُمۡ وَمَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ ۝٢١١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and neither is it fit and proper for them nor are they able.

wamā yanbaghī lahum wamā yastaṭīʿūn

26:212

إِنَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّمۡعِ لَمَعۡزُولُونَ ۝٢١٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, they, from having the ability to hear, are the ones who are set aside.

innahum ʿani l-samʿi lamaʿzūlūn

26:213

فَلَا تَدۡعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُعَذَّبِینَ ۝٢١٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

So call thou not to any god with God so that thou be among the ones who are punished.

falā tadʿu maʿa l-lahi ilāhan ākhara fatakūna mina l-muʿadhabīn

26:214

وَأَنذِرۡ عَشِیرَتَكَ ٱلۡأَقۡرَبِینَ ۝٢١٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And warn thy nearest kin, the kinspeople.

wa-andhir ʿashīrataka l-aqrabīn

26:215

وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٢١٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And make low thy wing to whoever followed thee among the ones who believe.

wa-ikh'fiḍ janāḥaka limani ittabaʿaka mina l-mu'minīn

26:216

فَإِنۡ عَصَوۡكَ فَقُلۡ إِنِّی بَرِیۤءࣱ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٢١٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Then, if they rebelled against thee, then, say: Truly, I am free of what you do.

fa-in ʿaṣawka faqul innī barīon mimmā taʿmalūn

26:217

وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱلۡعَزِیزِ ٱلرَّحِیمِ ۝٢١٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

And put thy trust in The Almighty, The Compassionate,

watawakkal ʿalā l-ʿazīzi l-raḥīm

26:218

ٱلَّذِی یَرَىٰكَ حِینَ تَقُومُ ۝٢١٨

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Who sees thee at the time thou hast stood up

alladhī yarāka ḥīna taqūm

26:219

وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِی ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ ۝٢١٩

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and thy going to and fro of the ones who prostrate themselves?

wataqallubaka fī l-sājidīn

26:220

إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ ۝٢٢٠

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Truly, He is The Hearing, The Knowing.

innahu huwa l-samīʿu l-ʿalīm

26:221

هَلۡ أُنَبِّئُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینُ ۝٢٢١

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Will I tell you in whom the satans come forth?

hal unabbi-ukum ʿalā man tanazzalu l-shayāṭīn

26:222

تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِیمࣲ ۝٢٢٢

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

They come forth in every sinful false one who gives listen,

tanazzalu ʿalā kulli affākin athīmi

26:223

یُلۡقُونَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ كَـٰذِبُونَ ۝٢٢٣

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

but most of them are ones who lie.

yul'qūna l-samʿa wa-aktharuhum kādhibūn

26:224

وَٱلشُّعَرَاۤءُ یَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ ۝٢٢٤

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

As for the poets, the ones who are in error follow them.

wal-shuʿarāu yattabiʿuhumu l-ghāwūn

26:225

أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِی كُلِّ وَادࣲ یَهِیمُونَ ۝٢٢٥

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

Hast thou not considered that they wander in every valley

alam tara annahum fī kulli wādin yahīmūn

26:226

وَأَنَّهُمۡ یَقُولُونَ مَا لَا یَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٢٢٦

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

and that they say what they accomplish not?

wa-annahum yaqūlūna mā lā yafʿalūn

26:227

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِیرࣰا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ۗ وَسَیَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوۤا۟ أَیَّ مُنقَلَبࣲ یَنقَلِبُونَ ۝٢٢٧

Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar

But those who believed and did as the ones in accord with morality remembered God frequently and helped themselves after they were wronged. And those who did wrong will know by which overturning they will be turned about!

illā alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti wadhakarū l-laha kathīran wa-intaṣarū min baʿdi mā ẓulimū wasayaʿlamu alladhīna ẓalamū ayya munqalabin yanqalibūn
