The Event, The Inevitable, That Which is Coming — Umm Muhammad Sahih International Translation

56:1

۞ إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ ۝١

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

When the Occurrence occurs

idhā waqaʿati l-wāqiʿat

56:2

لَیۡسَ لِوَقۡعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ ۝٢

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

There is, at its occurrence, no denial

laysa liwaqʿatihā kādhibatu

56:3

خَافِضَةࣱ رَّافِعَةٌ ۝٣

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]

khāfiḍatun rāfiʿatu

56:4

إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ رَجࣰّا ۝٤

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

When the earth is shaken with convulsio

idhā rujjati l-arḍu rajja

56:5

وَبُسَّتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ بَسࣰّا ۝٥

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And the mountains are broken down, crumblin

wabussati l-jibālu bassa

56:6

فَكَانَتۡ هَبَاۤءࣰ مُّنۢبَثࣰّا ۝٦

And become dust dispersing

fakānat habāan munbatha

56:7

وَكُنتُمۡ أَزۡوَ ٰجࣰا ثَلَـٰثَةࣰ ۝٧

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And you become [of] three kinds

wakuntum azwājan thalāthata

56:8

فَأَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡمَیۡمَنَةِ مَاۤ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡمَیۡمَنَةِ ۝٨

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right

fa-aṣḥābu l-maymanati mā aṣḥābu l-maymanat

56:9

وَأَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡءَمَةِ مَاۤ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡءَمَةِ ۝٩

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left

wa-aṣḥābu l-mashamati mā aṣḥābu l-mashamat

56:10

وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ۝١٠

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And the forerunners, the forerunners

wal-sābiqūna l-sābiqūn

56:11

أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ ۝١١

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Those are the ones brought near [to Allah ]

ulāika l-muqarabūn

56:12

فِی جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِیمِ ۝١٢

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

In the Gardens of Pleasure

fī jannāti l-naʿīm

56:13

ثُلَّةࣱ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝١٣

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

A [large] company of the former people

thullatun mina l-awalīn

56:14

وَقَلِیلࣱ مِّنَ ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝١٤

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And a few of the later peoples

waqalīlun mina l-ākhirīn

56:15

عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مَّوۡضُونَةࣲ ۝١٥

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

On thrones woven [with ornament]

muttakiīna ʿalayhā mutaqābilīn

56:16

مُّتَّكِءِینَ عَلَیۡهَا مُتَقَـٰبِلِینَ ۝١٦

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Reclining on them, facing each other

Muttaki-eena AAalayha mutaqabileena

56:17

یَطُوفُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وِلۡدَ ٰنࣱ مُّخَلَّدُونَ ۝١٧

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

There will circulate among them young boys made eterna

yaṭūfu ʿalayhim wil'dānun mukhalladūn

56:18

بِأَكۡوَابࣲ وَأَبَارِیقَ وَكَأۡسࣲ مِّن مَّعِینࣲ ۝١٨

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring

bi-akwābin wa-abārīqa wakasin min maʿīni

56:19

لَّا یُصَدَّعُونَ عَنۡهَا وَلَا یُنزِفُونَ ۝١٩

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated

lā yuṣaddaʿūna ʿanhā walā yunzifūn

56:20

وَفَـٰكِهَةࣲ مِّمَّا یَتَخَیَّرُونَ ۝٢٠

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And fruit of what they selec

wafākihatin mimmā yatakhayyarūn

56:21

وَلَحۡمِ طَیۡرࣲ مِّمَّا یَشۡتَهُونَ ۝٢١

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire

walaḥmi ṭayrin mimmā yashtahūn

56:22

وَحُورٌ عِینࣱ ۝٢٢

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes

waḥūrun ʿīnu

56:23

كَأَمۡثَـٰلِ ٱللُّؤۡلُوِٕ ٱلۡمَكۡنُونِ ۝٢٣

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

The likenesses of pearls well-protected

ka-amthāli l-lu'lu-i l-maknūn

56:24

جَزَاۤءَۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٢٤

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

As reward for what they used to do

jazāan bimā kānū yaʿmalūn

56:25

لَا یَسۡمَعُونَ فِیهَا لَغۡوࣰا وَلَا تَأۡثِیمًا ۝٢٥

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin

lā yasmaʿūna fīhā laghwan walā tathīma

56:26

إِلَّا قِیلࣰا سَلَـٰمࣰا سَلَـٰمࣰا ۝٢٦

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Only a saying: "Peace, peace."

illā qīlan salāman salāma

56:27

وَأَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡیَمِینِ مَاۤ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡیَمِینِ ۝٢٧

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right

wa-aṣḥābu l-yamīni mā aṣḥābu l-yamīn

56:28

فِی سِدۡرࣲ مَّخۡضُودࣲ ۝٢٨

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

[They will be] among lote trees with thorns remove

fī sid'rin makhḍūdi

56:29

وَطَلۡحࣲ مَّنضُودࣲ ۝٢٩

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And [banana] trees layered [with fruit]

waṭalḥin manḍūdi

56:30

وَظِلࣲّ مَّمۡدُودࣲ ۝٣٠

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And shade extende

waẓillin mamdūdi

56:31

وَمَاۤءࣲ مَّسۡكُوبࣲ ۝٣١

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And water poured ou

wamāin maskūbi

56:32

وَفَـٰكِهَةࣲ كَثِیرَةࣲ ۝٣٢

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And fruit, abundant [and varied]

wafākihatin kathīrati

56:33

لَّا مَقۡطُوعَةࣲ وَلَا مَمۡنُوعَةࣲ ۝٣٣

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden

lā maqṭūʿatin walā mamnūʿati

56:34

وَفُرُشࣲ مَّرۡفُوعَةٍ ۝٣٤

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And [upon] beds raised high

wafurushin marfūʿati

56:35

إِنَّاۤ أَنشَأۡنَـٰهُنَّ إِنشَاۤءࣰ ۝٣٥

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creatio

innā anshanāhunna inshāa

56:36

فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُنَّ أَبۡكَارًا ۝٣٦

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And made them virgins

fajaʿalnāhunna abkāra

56:37

عُرُبًا أَتۡرَابࣰا ۝٣٧

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age

li-aṣḥābi l-yamīn

56:38

لِّأَصۡحَـٰبِ ٱلۡیَمِینِ ۝٣٨

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

For the companions of the right [who are]

Li-as-habi alyameeni

56:39

ثُلَّةࣱ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ۝٣٩

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

A company of the former people

thullatun mina l-awalīn

56:40

وَثُلَّةࣱ مِّنَ ٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝٤٠

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And a company of the later peoples

wathullatun mina l-ākhirīn

56:41

وَأَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَاۤ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ ۝٤١

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left

wa-aṣḥābu l-shimāli mā aṣḥābu l-shimāl

56:42

فِی سَمُومࣲ وَحَمِیمࣲ ۝٤٢

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding wate

fī samūmin waḥamīmi

56:43

وَظِلࣲّ مِّن یَحۡمُومࣲ ۝٤٣

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And a shade of black smoke

waẓillin min yaḥmūmi

56:44

لَّا بَارِدࣲ وَلَا كَرِیمٍ ۝٤٤

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Neither cool nor beneficial

lā bāridin walā karīmi

56:45

إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ قَبۡلَ ذَ ٰلِكَ مُتۡرَفِینَ ۝٤٥

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence

innahum kānū qabla dhālika mut'rafīn

56:46

وَكَانُوا۟ یُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلۡحِنثِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٤٦

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And they used to persist in the great violation

wakānū yuṣirrūna ʿalā l-ḥinthi l-ʿaẓīm

56:47

وَكَانُوا۟ یَقُولُونَ أَىِٕذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ ۝٤٧

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected

wakānū yaqūlūna a-idhā mit'nā wakunnā turāban waʿiẓāman a-innā lamabʿūthūn

56:48

أَوَ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ ۝٤٨

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And our forefathers [as well]?"

awaābāunā l-awalūn

56:49

قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ وَٱلۡءَاخِرِینَ ۝٤٩

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later people

qul inna l-awalīna wal-ākhirīn

56:50

لَمَجۡمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِیقَـٰتِ یَوۡمࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ ۝٥٠

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day."

lamajmūʿūna ilā mīqāti yawmin maʿlūmi

56:51

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمۡ أَیُّهَا ٱلضَّاۤلُّونَ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٥١

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers

thumma innakum ayyuhā l-ḍālūna l-mukadhibūn

56:52

لَءَاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرࣲ مِّن زَقُّومࣲ ۝٥٢

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Will be eating from trees of zaqqu

laākilūna min shajarin min zaqqūmi

56:53

فَمَالِءُونَ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡبُطُونَ ۝٥٣

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And filling with it your bellie

famāliūna min'hā l-buṭūn

56:54

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ عَلَیۡهِ مِنَ ٱلۡحَمِیمِ ۝٥٤

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And drinking on top of it from scalding wate

fashāribūna ʿalayhi mina l-ḥamīm

56:55

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ شُرۡبَ ٱلۡهِیمِ ۝٥٥

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels

fashāribūna shur'ba l-hīm

56:56

هَـٰذَا نُزُلُهُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلدِّینِ ۝٥٦

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense

hādhā nuzuluhum yawma l-dīn

56:57

نَحۡنُ خَلَقۡنَـٰكُمۡ فَلَوۡلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ ۝٥٧

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

We have created you, so why do you not believe

naḥnu khalaqnākum falawlā tuṣaddiqūn

56:58

أَفَرَءَیۡتُم مَّا تُمۡنُونَ ۝٥٨

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Have you seen that which you emit

afara-aytum mā tum'nūn

56:59

ءَأَنتُمۡ تَخۡلُقُونَهُۥۤ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلۡخَـٰلِقُونَ ۝٥٩

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator

a-antum takhluqūnahu am naḥnu l-khāliqūn

56:60

نَحۡنُ قَدَّرۡنَا بَیۡنَكُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَسۡبُوقِینَ ۝٦٠

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdon

naḥnu qaddarnā baynakumu l-mawta wamā naḥnu bimasbūqīn

56:61

عَلَىٰۤ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمۡثَـٰلَكُمۡ وَنُنشِئَكُمۡ فِی مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٦١

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know

walaqad ʿalim'tumu l-nashata l-ūlā falawlā tadhakkarūn

56:62

وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡتُمُ ٱلنَّشۡأَةَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ فَلَوۡلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٦٢

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember

Walaqad AAalimtumu alnnash-ata al-oola falawla tathakkaroona

56:63

أَفَرَءَیۡتُم مَّا تَحۡرُثُونَ ۝٦٣

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And have you seen that [seed] which you sow

afara-aytum mā taḥruthūn

56:64

ءَأَنتُمۡ تَزۡرَعُونَهُۥۤ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلزَّ ٰرِعُونَ ۝٦٤

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower

a-antum tazraʿūnahu am naḥnu l-zāriʿūn

56:65

لَوۡ نَشَاۤءُ لَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُ حُطَـٰمࣰا فَظَلۡتُمۡ تَفَكَّهُونَ ۝٦٥

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder

law nashāu lajaʿalnāhu ḥuṭāman faẓaltum tafakkahūn

56:66

إِنَّا لَمُغۡرَمُونَ ۝٦٦

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt

innā lamugh'ramūn

56:67

بَلۡ نَحۡنُ مَحۡرُومُونَ ۝٦٧

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Rather, we have been deprived."

bal naḥnu maḥrūmūn

56:68

أَفَرَءَیۡتُمُ ٱلۡمَاۤءَ ٱلَّذِی تَشۡرَبُونَ ۝٦٨

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And have you seen the water that you drink

afara-aytumu l-māa alladhī tashrabūn

56:69

ءَأَنتُمۡ أَنزَلۡتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُزۡنِ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُنزِلُونَ ۝٦٩

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down

a-antum anzaltumūhu mina l-muz'ni am naḥnu l-munzilūn

56:70

لَوۡ نَشَاۤءُ جَعَلۡنَـٰهُ أُجَاجࣰا فَلَوۡلَا تَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٧٠

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful

law nashāu jaʿalnāhu ujājan falawlā tashkurūn

56:71

أَفَرَءَیۡتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِی تُورُونَ ۝٧١

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And have you seen the fire that you ignite

afara-aytumu l-nāra allatī tūrūn

56:72

ءَأَنتُمۡ أَنشَأۡتُمۡ شَجَرَتَهَاۤ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُنشِءُونَ ۝٧٢

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer

a-antum anshatum shajaratahā am naḥnu l-munshiūn

56:73

نَحۡنُ جَعَلۡنَـٰهَا تَذۡكِرَةࣰ وَمَتَـٰعࣰا لِّلۡمُقۡوِینَ ۝٧٣

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers

naḥnu jaʿalnāhā tadhkiratan wamatāʿan lil'muq'wīn

56:74

فَسَبِّحۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ ۝٧٤

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great

fasabbiḥ bi-is'mi rabbika l-ʿaẓīm

56:75

۞ فَلَاۤ أُقۡسِمُ بِمَوَ ٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ ۝٧٥

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Then I swear by the setting of the stars

falā uq'simu bimawāqiʿi l-nujūm

56:76

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمࣱ لَّوۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ عَظِیمٌ ۝٧٦

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great

wa-innahu laqasamun law taʿlamūna ʿaẓīmu

56:77

إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرۡءَانࣱ كَرِیمࣱ ۝٧٧

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Indeed, it is a noble Qur'a

innahu laqur'ānun karīmu

56:78

فِی كِتَـٰبࣲ مَّكۡنُونࣲ ۝٧٨

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

In a Register well-protected

fī kitābin maknūni

56:79

لَّا یَمَسُّهُۥۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُطَهَّرُونَ ۝٧٩

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

None touch it except the purified

lā yamassuhu illā l-muṭaharūn

56:80

تَنزِیلࣱ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٨٠

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds

tanzīlun min rabbi l-ʿālamīn

56:81

أَفَبِهَـٰذَا ٱلۡحَدِیثِ أَنتُم مُّدۡهِنُونَ ۝٨١

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent

afabihādhā l-ḥadīthi antum mud'hinūn

56:82

وَتَجۡعَلُونَ رِزۡقَكُمۡ أَنَّكُمۡ تُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٨٢

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]

watajʿalūna riz'qakum annakum tukadhibūn

56:83

فَلَوۡلَاۤ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلۡحُلۡقُومَ ۝٨٣

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throa

falawlā idhā balaghati l-ḥul'qūm

56:84

وَأَنتُمۡ حِینَىِٕذࣲ تَنظُرُونَ ۝٨٤

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And you are at that time looking on

wa-antum ḥīna-idhin tanẓurūn

56:85

وَنَحۡنُ أَقۡرَبُ إِلَیۡهِ مِنكُمۡ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُبۡصِرُونَ ۝٨٥

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see

wanaḥnu aqrabu ilayhi minkum walākin lā tub'ṣirūn

56:86

فَلَوۡلَاۤ إِن كُنتُمۡ غَیۡرَ مَدِینِینَ ۝٨٦

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed

falawlā in kuntum ghayra madīnīn

56:87

تَرۡجِعُونَهَاۤ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٨٧

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Bring it back, if you should be truthful

tarjiʿūnahā in kuntum ṣādiqīn

56:88

فَأَمَّاۤ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبِینَ ۝٨٨

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah

fa-ammā in kāna mina l-muqarabīn

56:89

فَرَوۡحࣱ وَرَیۡحَانࣱ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِیمࣲ ۝٨٩

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure

farawḥun warayḥānun wajannatu naʿīmi

56:90

وَأَمَّاۤ إِن كَانَ مِنۡ أَصۡحَـٰبِ ٱلۡیَمِینِ ۝٩٠

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And if he was of the companions of the right

wa-ammā in kāna min aṣḥābi l-yamīn

56:91

فَسَلَـٰمࣱ لَّكَ مِنۡ أَصۡحَـٰبِ ٱلۡیَمِینِ ۝٩١

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right."

fasalāmun laka min aṣḥābi l-yamīn

56:92

وَأَمَّاۤ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ٱلضَّاۤلِّینَ ۝٩٢

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray

wa-ammā in kāna mina l-mukadhibīna l-ḍālīn

56:93

فَنُزُلࣱ مِّنۡ حَمِیمࣲ ۝٩٣

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding wate

fanuzulun min ḥamīmi

56:94

وَتَصۡلِیَةُ جَحِیمٍ ۝٩٤

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

And burning in Hellfir

wataṣliyatu jaḥīmi

56:95

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلۡیَقِینِ ۝٩٥

Umm Muhammad (Sahih International)

Indeed, this is the true certainty
