وَأَحَلَّ wa-aḥalla

ٱللَّهُ l-lahu

ٱلْبَيْعَ l-bayʿa
[the] trade Noun
وَحَرَّمَ waḥarrama
but (has) forbidden V
ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ l-riba
[the] usury Noun
فَمَن faman
Then whoever Noun
جَآءَهُۥ jāahu
comes to him V
مَوْعِظَةٌ mawʿiẓatun
(the) admonition Noun
مِّن min
from Prep
رَّبِّهِۦ rabbihi
His Lord Noun
فَٱنتَهَىٰ fa-intahā
and he refrained V
فَلَهُۥ falahu
then for him Noun
مَا mā
what Noun
سَلَفَ salafa
(has) passed V
وَأَمْرُهُۥٓ wa-amruhu
and his case Noun
إِلَى ilā
(is) with Prep
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi
Allah Noun
وَمَنْ waman
and whoever Noun
عَادَ ʿāda
repeated V
فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ fa-ulāika
then those Noun
أَصْحَٰبُ aṣḥābu
(are the) companions Noun
ٱلنَّارِ l-nāri
(of) the Fire Noun
هُمْ hum
they Noun
فِيهَا fīhā
in it Prep
خَٰلِدُونَ khālidūna
will abide forever Noun

But those who take usury will rise up on the Day of Resurrection like someone tormented by Satan’s touch. That is because they say, ‘Trade and usury are the same,’

Arabic Text

ٱلَّذِینَ یَأۡكُلُونَ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ لَا یَقُومُونَ إِلَّا كَمَا یَقُومُ ٱلَّذِی یَتَخَبَّطُهُ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ مِنَ ٱلۡمَسِّۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡبَیۡعُ مِثۡلُ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ۗ وَأَحَلَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡبَیۡعَ وَحَرَّمَ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ۚ فَمَن جَاۤءَهُۥ مَوۡعِظَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ فَٱنتَهَىٰ فَلَهُۥ مَا سَلَفَ وَأَمۡرُهُۥۤ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ وَمَنۡ عَادَ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمۡ فِیهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ۝٢٧٥

alladhīna yakulūna l-riba lā yaqūmūna illā kamā yaqūmu alladhī yatakhabbaṭuhu l-shayṭānu mina l-masi dhālika bi-annahum qālū innamā l-bayʿu mith'lu l-riba wa-aḥalla l-lahu l-bayʿa waḥarrama l-riba faman jāahu mawʿiẓatun min rabbihi fa-intahā falahu mā salafa wa-amruhu ilā l-lahi waman ʿāda fa-ulāika aṣḥābu l-nāri hum fīhā khālidūn
