لَقَدۡ وُعِدۡنَا نَحۡنُ وَءَابَاۤؤُنَا هَـٰذَا مِن قَبۡلُ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّاۤ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ ٨٣
laqad wuʿid'nā naḥnu waābāunā hādhā min qablu in hādhā illā asāṭīru l-awalīn
We have heard such promises before, and so did our forefathers. These are just ancient fables.’
Surely, we have been promised this, we and our forefathers before us! This is not but the tales of the ancients!”
Assuredly this we have been promised--we and our fathers-- aforetime: naught is this but the fables of the ancients
We and our fathers were promised this before; it is nothing but ancient lore!"
“Indeed, we and our forefathers have been warned with this before. This is nothing but fables of the past.”
We and our forefathers were promised this before. This is nothing but the myths of previous peoples!´
