1 Divine Beneficence
55:1 ›
۞ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ ۝١
Dr. Munir Munshey
(Allah), the most Merciful
al-raḥmān
55:2 ›
عَلَّمَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ۝٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
Taught the Qur´an
khalaqa l-insān
55:3 ›
خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ ۝٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
He created man
Khalaqa al-insana
55:4 ›
عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَیَانَ ۝٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
And taught him speech
al-shamsu wal-qamaru biḥus'bāni
55:5 ›
ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانࣲ ۝٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
The sun and the moon function (perfectly), as per their schedules
Alshshamsu waalqamaru bihusbanin
55:6 ›
وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ یَسۡجُدَانِ ۝٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
From a blade of grass to a tree, (everything) prostrates (before Allah)
wal-najmu wal-shajaru yasjudān
55:7 ›
وَٱلسَّمَاۤءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِیزَانَ ۝٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
He raised the sky far above, and set up a (perfect) balance
wal-samāa rafaʿahā wawaḍaʿa l-mīzān
55:8 ›
أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡمِیزَانِ ۝٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
So do not transcend the balance
allā taṭghaw fī l-mīzān
55:9 ›
وَأَقِیمُوا۟ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُوا۟ ٱلۡمِیزَانَ ۝٩
Dr. Munir Munshey
Administer the weight (and measure) with justice. Do not inflict a loss to others (by cheating) at the scales
wa-aqīmū l-wazna bil-qis'ṭi walā tukh'sirū l-mīzān
55:10 ›
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ ۝١٠
Dr. Munir Munshey
And He prepared the earth for (His) created beings
wal-arḍa waḍaʿahā lil'anām
55:11 ›
فِیهَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ ۝١١
Dr. Munir Munshey
It has (all sorts of) fruits, (like) the sheathed clusters of dates
fīhā fākihatun wal-nakhlu dhātu l-akmām
55:12 ›
وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّیۡحَانُ ۝١٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
Corn with leafy stalks, and aromatic plants
wal-ḥabu dhū l-ʿaṣfi wal-rayḥān
55:13 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
So, which ones of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:14 ›
خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ ۝١٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
He created the human kind out of dried mud, like a potter´s clay
khalaqa l-insāna min ṣalṣālin kal-fakhār
55:15 ›
وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَاۤنَّ مِن مَّارِجࣲ مِّن نَّارࣲ ۝١٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
He created the (race of) jinn out of the (lucent) blaze of fire
wakhalaqa l-jāna min mārijin min nāri
55:16 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which ones of the wonders of your Lord would you disregard? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:17 ›
رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَیۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَیۡنِ ۝١٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
The Lord of the two Easts! And the Lord of the two Wests
rabbu l-mashriqayni warabbu l-maghribayn
55:18 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
So, which of the powers and prowess of your Lord will you refuse to heed? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:19 ›
مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَیۡنِ یَلۡتَقِیَانِ ۝١٩
Dr. Munir Munshey
He brought the two seas (of sweet and salt water) closer _ close enough to mingle
maraja l-baḥrayni yaltaqiyān
55:20 ›
بَیۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخࣱ لَّا یَبۡغِیَانِ ۝٢٠
Dr. Munir Munshey
Yet, there exists a barrier between them, which they do not overrun
baynahumā barzakhun lā yabghiyān
55:21 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢١
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the wonders of your Lord would you disregard? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:22 ›
یَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ ۝٢٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
Pearls and corals (are mined and) emerge from each (of the two seas)
yakhruju min'humā l-lu'lu-u wal-marjān
55:23 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:24 ›
وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَءَاتُ فِی ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَـٰمِ ۝٢٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
His are the ships that sail across the ocean, as if they were (the floating) mountains
walahu l-jawāri l-munshaātu fī l-baḥri kal-aʿlām
55:25 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
So, which one of the wonders of your Lord would you disregard? (For how long)?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
2 Judgment of the Guilty
55:26 ›
كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَیۡهَا فَانࣲ ۝٢٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
Every being upon the earth is mortal, (and will die)
kullu man ʿalayhā fāni
55:27 ›
وَیَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ۝٢٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
The only One to last and live on is your Lord _ the Lord of sublime glory and honor
wayabqā wajhu rabbika dhū l-jalāli wal-ik'rām
55:28 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the power and glory of your Lord would you refuse to heed? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:29 ›
یَسۡءَلُهُۥ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ یَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِی شَأۡنࣲ ۝٢٩
Dr. Munir Munshey
Every being in the heavens and on earth entreats (and relies upon) Him (for sustenance, survival and other needs). Every single day, He assumes yet another (wondrous state of) glory
yasaluhu man fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi kulla yawmin huwa fī shani
55:30 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٠
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the wonders of your Lord would you disregard? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:31 ›
سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَیُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ ۝٣١
Dr. Munir Munshey
For you, the two sin laden groups, (one of men, the other of jinn), We would soon devote Ourselves (exclusively to judge you)
sanafrughu lakum ayyuha l-thaqalān
55:32 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the power and might of your Lord would you refuse to heed? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:33 ›
یَـٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ ۝٣٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
Oh you, the species of jinn and humans, if (you think) you possess the means to break free from the confines of the heavens and the earth, then do so. But, you shall not, without (His) sanction
yāmaʿshara l-jini wal-insi ini is'taṭaʿtum an tanfudhū min aqṭāri l-samāwāti wal-arḍi fa-unfudhū lā tanfudhūna illā bisul'ṭāni
55:34 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
So, which of the power and prowess of your Lord would you refuse to heed? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:35 ›
یُرۡسَلُ عَلَیۡكُمَا شُوَاظࣱ مِّن نَّارࣲ وَنُحَاسࣱ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ ۝٣٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
Blazing (fiery) fireballs, and (flaming molten) brass would be let loose upon you. Escape you shall not
yur'salu ʿalaykumā shuwāẓun min nārin wanuḥāsun falā tantaṣirān
55:36 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
So, which of the power and might of your Lord would you refuse to heed? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:37 ›
فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةࣰ كَٱلدِّهَانِ ۝٣٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
And then the sky shall split asunder and turn red, just like (freshly tanned) leather
fa-idhā inshaqqati l-samāu fakānat wardatan kal-dihān
55:38 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
So, which one of the wonders of your Lord would you disregard? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:39 ›
فَیَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لَّا یُسۡءَلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦۤ إِنسࣱ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٣٩
Dr. Munir Munshey
That day, neither humans nor jinn would (need to) be questioned concerning their sins
fayawma-idhin lā yus'alu ʿan dhanbihi insun walā jānnu
55:40 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٠
Dr. Munir Munshey
So, which of the power and prowess of your Lord would you refuse to heed? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:41 ›
یُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِیمَـٰهُمۡ فَیُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَ ٰصِی وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ ۝٤١
Dr. Munir Munshey
The criminals would be easily identified by their distinctive marks and mien. They would be grabbed by the lock of their hair, and their feet
yuʿ'rafu l-muj'rimūna bisīmāhum fayu'khadhu bil-nawāṣī wal-aqdām
55:42 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which of the power and might of your Lord would you refuse to heed? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:43 ›
هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِی یُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٤٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
"Here is the hell that criminals had refused to believe!"
hādhihi jahannamu allatī yukadhibu bihā l-muj'rimūn
55:44 ›
یَطُوفُونَ بَیۡنَهَا وَبَیۡنَ حَمِیمٍ ءَانࣲ ۝٤٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
To and fro, they would rotate between it and the (fiercely) hot water
yaṭūfūna baynahā wabayna ḥamīmin āni
55:45 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which of the power and might of your Lord would you refuse to heed? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
3 Reward of the Righteous
55:46 ›
وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ ۝٤٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
A twin garden (in paradise) exists (as a reward) for the one who dreads to stand before his Lord, (and His reckoning)
waliman khāfa maqāma rabbihi jannatān
55:47 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
So, which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:48 ›
ذَوَاتَاۤ أَفۡنَانࣲ ۝٤٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
With diverse wondrous things (in each)
dhawātā afnāni
55:49 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٩
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:50 ›
فِیهِمَا عَیۡنَانِ تَجۡرِیَانِ ۝٥٠
Dr. Munir Munshey
With a couple of springs streaming across each (garden)
fīhimā ʿaynāni tajriyān
55:51 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥١
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:52 ›
فِیهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةࣲ زَوۡجَانِ ۝٥٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
With two varieties of each type of fruit in each (garden)
fīhimā min kulli fākihatin zawjān
55:53 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:54 ›
مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَاۤىِٕنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقࣲۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَیۡنِ دَانࣲ ۝٥٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
(The righteous) would recline on (exotic) carpets lined with lush brocade. (Loaded with plentiful fruit), the branches of fruit trees would hang low, within easy reach
muttakiīna ʿalā furushin baṭāinuhā min is'tabraqin wajanā l-janatayni dāni
55:55 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:56 ›
فِیهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَ ٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ لَمۡ یَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٥٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
In these (gardens of paradise), the righteous shall have mates that are chaste-eyed and demure _ not deflowered by any human or jinn before them
fīhinna qāṣirātu l-ṭarfi lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnu
55:57 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:58 ›
كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلۡیَاقُوتُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ ۝٥٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
(So very lovely), as if they were rubies and pearls
ka-annahunna l-yāqūtu wal-marjān
55:59 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٩
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:60 ›
هَلۡ جَزَاۤءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنُ ۝٦٠
Dr. Munir Munshey
Do excellent deeds deserve anything except the most excellent rewards
hal jazāu l-iḥ'sāni illā l-iḥ'sān
55:61 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦١
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:62 ›
وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ ۝٦٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
In addition to the two (already promised), they shall have two more gardens
wamin dūnihimā jannatān
55:63 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:64 ›
مُدۡهَاۤمَّتَانِ ۝٦٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
(With foliage) of the deepest green color
mud'hāmmatān
55:65 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:66 ›
فِیهِمَا عَیۡنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ ۝٦٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
With two (constantly) gushing fountains in each (garden)
fīhimā ʿaynāni naḍḍākhatān
55:67 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:68 ›
فِیهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَنَخۡلࣱ وَرُمَّانࣱ ۝٦٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
Each with (plenty of) fruits _ dates and pomegranates
fīhimā fākihatun wanakhlun warummānu
55:69 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٩
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:70 ›
فِیهِنَّ خَیۡرَ ٰتٌ حِسَانࣱ ۝٧٠
Dr. Munir Munshey
There, they shall have beautiful virtuous (wives)
fīhinna khayrātun ḥisānu
55:71 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧١
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:72 ›
حُورࣱ مَّقۡصُورَ ٰتࣱ فِی ٱلۡخِیَامِ ۝٧٢
Dr. Munir Munshey
Lovely eyed (heavenly) nymphs (of paradise) lodged in pavilions
ḥūrun maqṣūrātun fī l-khiyām
55:73 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٣
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:74 ›
لَمۡ یَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٧٤
Dr. Munir Munshey
Whom no human or jinn had deflowered
lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnu
55:75 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٥
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long)
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:76 ›
مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرࣲ وَعَبۡقَرِیٍّ حِسَانࣲ ۝٧٦
Dr. Munir Munshey
The righteous shall recline on lush green cushion, and exquisite (exotic) carpet
muttakiīna ʿalā rafrafin khuḍ'rin waʿabqariyyin ḥisāni
55:77 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٧
Dr. Munir Munshey
So which one of the favors of your Lord won´t you acknowledge? (For how long
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:78 ›
تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِی ٱلۡجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ۝٧٨
Dr. Munir Munshey
