1 Divine Beneficence

۞ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ ۝١

Rahman (the possessor of all of the qualities referenced by the Beautiful Names),

عَلَّمَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ۝٢

Taught the Quran (formed the qualities pertaining to the dimension of Names).

khalaqa l-insān

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ ۝٣

Khalaqa al-insana

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَیَانَ ۝٤

And taught him eloquence (manifested the Names on man) (as Hadhrat Ali says, “Man became a talking Quran.”);

al-shamsu wal-qamaru biḥus'bāni

ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانࣲ ۝٥

The Sun (comprehension) and the Moon (emotion – feeling) are with a measure (in levels).

Alshshamsu waalqamaru bihusbanin

وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ یَسۡجُدَانِ ۝٦

The star (ideas) and the tree (the body) are in prostration (in a state of nonexistence in the sight of the Names).

wal-najmu wal-shajaru yasjudān

وَٱلسَّمَاۤءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِیزَانَ ۝٧

He has raised the heaven (consciousness; from the level of the self-accusing self [nafs-i lawwama] to the level of the pleasing self [nafs-i mardhiya]) and established a balance (the ability to live in balance of unity and multiplicity).

wal-samāa rafaʿahā wawaḍaʿa l-mīzān

أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡمِیزَانِ ۝٨

That you do not do injustice to that balance (so that you do not go to extreme in one and thus be deprived of the other).

allā taṭghaw fī l-mīzān

وَأَقِیمُوا۟ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُوا۟ ٱلۡمِیزَانَ ۝٩

Evaluate justly (according to the laws of Uluhiyyah) and do not become losers by failing to live by that balance!

wa-aqīmū l-wazna bil-qis'ṭi walā tukh'sirū l-mīzān

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ ۝١٠

And upon the earth (the body) He formed the creatures (the microuniverse)!

wal-arḍa waḍaʿahā lil'anām

فِیهَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ ۝١١

Therein (on earth) is a fruit (man), like palm trees (brain) full of sheathed clusters (ready and receptive)!

fīhā fākihatun wal-nakhlu dhātu l-akmām

وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّیۡحَانُ ۝١٢

And sprouted grains (blossoming observations of the reality) and pleasantly scented plants (behaviors pertaining to the reality of man).

wal-ḥabu dhū l-ʿaṣfi wal-rayḥān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٣

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ ۝١٤

He created man (the body) from processed dry clay (the formation of the cellular structure).

khalaqa l-insāna min ṣalṣālin kal-fakhār

وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَاۤنَّ مِن مَّارِجࣲ مِّن نَّارࣲ ۝١٥

And He created the jann (the invisible beings; the jinn) from a smokeless flame of fire (radiation, radiant energy, electromagnetic wave body).

wakhalaqa l-jāna min mārijin min nāri

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٦

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَیۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَیۡنِ ۝١٧

He is the Rabb of the two easts (the world and the eternal life after death) and the Rabb of the two wests (the world and the dimension of the grave).

rabbu l-mashriqayni warabbu l-maghribayn

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٨

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَیۡنِ یَلۡتَقِیَانِ ۝١٩

He let loose the two seas (angelic and animalistic tendencies; the universal consciousness and the individual consciousness); they meet together.

maraja l-baḥrayni yaltaqiyān

بَیۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخࣱ لَّا یَبۡغِیَانِ ۝٢٠

Yet between them is a barrier; which they do not transgress (both fulfill their own functions within their own field).

baynahumā barzakhun lā yabghiyān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢١

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

یَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ ۝٢٢

From them comes forth the pearl and the coral (various qualities).

yakhruju min'humā l-lu'lu-u wal-marjān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٣

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَءَاتُ فِی ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَـٰمِ ۝٢٤

To Him belong the constructed ships (bodies) that sail like mountains (constructed identities – ego) in the sea (the knowledge of the reality)!

walahu l-jawāri l-munshaātu fī l-baḥri kal-aʿlām

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٥

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

2 Judgment of the Guilty

كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَیۡهَا فَانࣲ ۝٢٦

Everyone on the earth (corporeal life) is transitory (every sense of self - identity or individual consciousness will taste death).

kullu man ʿalayhā fāni

وَیَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ۝٢٧

Baqi (eternal, without being subject to the concept of time) is the face (the absolute reality) of your Rabb (the meanings of the Names comprising your essence), the Dhul-Jalali Wal-Ikram

wayabqā wajhu rabbika dhū l-jalāli wal-ik'rām

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٨

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

یَسۡءَلُهُۥ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ یَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِی شَأۡنࣲ ۝٢٩

Everything in the heavens and the earth asks from Him; at every instance HU (the Absolute Essence of Existence) manifests Himself in yet another way!

yasaluhu man fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi kulla yawmin huwa fī shani

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٠

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَیُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ ۝٣١

Soon We shall attend to you (for account), O guilt laden community of man and jinn!

sanafrughu lakum ayyuha l-thaqalān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٢

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

یَـٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ ۝٣٣

O communities of jinn and man, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass (live without a body)! But you cannot pass unless you possess the power (the manifestation of Allah’s attribute of Power [Qadir] on you).

yāmaʿshara l-jini wal-insi ini is'taṭaʿtum an tanfudhū min aqṭāri l-samāwāti wal-arḍi fa-unfudhū lā tanfudhūna illā bisul'ṭāni

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٤

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

یُرۡسَلُ عَلَیۡكُمَا شُوَاظࣱ مِّن نَّارࣲ وَنُحَاسࣱ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ ۝٣٥

There will be sent upon (both of) you a flame of fire and smoke (ambiguity and confusion in your consciousness), and you will not be successful!

yur'salu ʿalaykumā shuwāẓun min nārin wanuḥāsun falā tantaṣirān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٦

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةࣰ كَٱلدِّهَانِ ۝٣٧

And when (during death) the heaven (the identity; ego) is split asunder and (the reality) becomes (undeniably clear and the ego-self disappears) burnt oil colored, like a rose (the reality is observed)!

fa-idhā inshaqqati l-samāu fakānat wardatan kal-dihān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٨

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فَیَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لَّا یُسۡءَلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦۤ إِنسࣱ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٣٩

At that time none among men or jinn will be asked about his offences (they will begin to live the natural consequences of their deeds)!

fayawma-idhin lā yus'alu ʿan dhanbihi insun walā jānnu

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٠

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

یُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِیمَـٰهُمۡ فَیُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَ ٰصِی وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ ۝٤١

The guilty will be recognized by their faces (the reflection of their disposition) and seized by their foreheads and feet.

yuʿ'rafu l-muj'rimūna bisīmāhum fayu'khadhu bil-nawāṣī wal-aqdām

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٢

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِی یُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٤٣

This is the Hell the guilty ones denied!

hādhihi jahannamu allatī yukadhibu bihā l-muj'rimūn

یَطُوفُونَ بَیۡنَهَا وَبَیۡنَ حَمِیمٍ ءَانࣲ ۝٤٤

They will go around between it and boiling water (the burning value judgments brought by their conditionings).

yaṭūfūna baynahā wabayna ḥamīmin āni

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٥

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

3 Reward of the Righteous

وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ ۝٤٦

There are two Paradises for the one who fears the position of His Rabb (action and sensation – Paradises of meaning).

waliman khāfa maqāma rabbihi jannatān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٧

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

ذَوَاتَاۤ أَفۡنَانࣲ ۝٤٨

With various branches (life qualities) spread out (in both Paradises).

dhawātā afnāni

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٩

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فِیهِمَا عَیۡنَانِ تَجۡرِیَانِ ۝٥٠

In both of them are two springs, flowing!

fīhimā ʿaynāni tajriyān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥١

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فِیهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةࣲ زَوۡجَانِ ۝٥٢

In both (of those Paradises) are fruits (gnosis) of both kinds (extrinsic and intrinsic)!

fīhimā min kulli fākihatin zawjān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٣

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَاۤىِٕنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقࣲۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَیۡنِ دَانࣲ ۝٥٤

They will rest upon beds whose linings are of silk brocade... The fruits of both Paradises will be so easy to pick!

muttakiīna ʿalā furushin baṭāinuhā min is'tabraqin wajanā l-janatayni dāni

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٥

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فِیهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَ ٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ لَمۡ یَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٥٦

There are those whose glances are directed only to their partners, untouched by any man or jinn before them (no impurities caused by identity/ego-based ideas and emotions)!

fīhinna qāṣirātu l-ṭarfi lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnu

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٧

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلۡیَاقُوتُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ ۝٥٨

As if they are rubies or coral.

ka-annahunna l-yāqūtu wal-marjān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٩

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

هَلۡ جَزَاۤءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنُ ۝٦٠

Is not good the reward for good (servitude done through the observation of the Truth)?

hal jazāu l-iḥ'sāni illā l-iḥ'sān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦١

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ ۝٦٢

And besides these two Paradises are two more Paradises.

wamin dūnihimā jannatān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٣

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

مُدۡهَاۤمَّتَانِ ۝٦٤

Both of them ever green!

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٥

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فِیهِمَا عَیۡنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ ۝٦٦

In both of them are two springs (reflections of the Rahman), constantly spouting!

fīhimā ʿaynāni naḍḍākhatān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٧

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فِیهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَنَخۡلࣱ وَرُمَّانࣱ ۝٦٨

In both of them are fruits and palm trees (symbolic of consciousness manifesting the attributes of the Truth) and pomegranates (symbolic of the single consciousness administering the life of multiple forms)!

fīhimā fākihatun wanakhlun warummānu

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٩

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فِیهِنَّ خَیۡرَ ٰتٌ حِسَانࣱ ۝٧٠

In (those Paradises) are the most magnificent, the most beautiful.

fīhinna khayrātun ḥisānu

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧١

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

حُورࣱ مَّقۡصُورَ ٰتࣱ فِی ٱلۡخِیَامِ ۝٧٢

Houris reserved only for their partners (partners – bodies that are equipped and capacitated to fulfill all of the desires of the forms of consciousness that manifest the attributes of the Truth. Please see 13:35, 47:15)!

ḥūrun maqṣūrātun fī l-khiyām

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٣

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

لَمۡ یَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٧٤

Untouched by no man or jinn before them (no impurities caused by identity/ego-based ideas and emotions)!

lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnu

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٥

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرࣲ وَعَبۡقَرِیٍّ حِسَانࣲ ۝٧٦

They rest upon green cushions and beautifully embroidered fine carpets.

muttakiīna ʿalā rafrafin khuḍ'rin waʿabqariyyin ḥisāni

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٧

So, which of the favors of your Rabb (the Names comprising your essence – your consciousness and body) will you deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِی ٱلۡجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ۝٧٨

Sublime is the name of your Rabb the Dhul-Jalali Wal-Ikram!

tabāraka us'mu rabbika dhī l-jalāli wal-ik'rām
