55:1

۞ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ ۝١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The Most Compassionate (is He)

al-raḥmān

55:2

عَلَّمَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ۝٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Who (Himself) taught the Qur’an to (the Arab Messenger [blessings and peace be upon him]).

khalaqa l-insān

55:3

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ ۝٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

He is the One Who created (this Absolutely Perfect) man

Khalaqa al-insana

55:4

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَیَانَ ۝٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

He alone taught him the art of expression and communication (i.e., taught the True Messenger ma kana wa ma yakun).

al-shamsu wal-qamaru biḥus'bāni

55:5

ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانࣲ ۝٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The sun and the moon are rotating according to the configuration determined (by Him)

Alshshamsu waalqamaru bihusbanin

55:6

وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ یَسۡجُدَانِ ۝٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And the herbs spread over the earth, and all (species of) the trees prostrate themselves (to Him alone)

wal-najmu wal-shajaru yasjudān

55:7

وَٱلسَّمَاۤءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِیزَانَ ۝٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And He is the One Who has maintained the sky raised high and (He is the One) Who has set up the balance (for justice)

wal-samāa rafaʿahā wawaḍaʿa l-mīzān

55:8

أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡمِیزَانِ ۝٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So that you violate not the balance whilst weighing

allā taṭghaw fī l-mīzān

55:9

وَأَقِیمُوا۟ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُوا۟ ٱلۡمِیزَانَ ۝٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And keep weighing justly and do not make the balance fall short

wa-aqīmū l-wazna bil-qis'ṭi walā tukh'sirū l-mīzān

55:10

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ ۝١٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

He is the One Who has spread out the earth for the creatures

wal-arḍa waḍaʿahā lil'anām

55:11

فِیهَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ ۝١١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

There are fruits in it and blossom-bearing date-palms

fīhā fākihatun wal-nakhlu dhātu l-akmām

55:12

وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّیۡحَانُ ۝١٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And chaff-covered grain and fragrant (fruits and) blooms

wal-ḥabu dhū l-ʿaṣfi wal-rayḥān

55:13

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So, (O assembly of jinn and men,) which of your Lord’s blessings will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:14

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ ۝١٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

He is the One Who created man from a dry mud sounding like earthenware

khalaqa l-insāna min ṣalṣālin kal-fakhār

55:15

وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَاۤنَّ مِن مَّارِجࣲ مِّن نَّارࣲ ۝١٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And created the jinn from a flame of fire

wakhalaqa l-jāna min mārijin min nāri

55:16

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:17

رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَیۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَیۡنِ ۝١٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(He alone is) the Lord of the two easts and (He alone is) the Lord of the two wests

rabbu l-mashriqayni warabbu l-maghribayn

55:18

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:19

مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَیۡنِ یَلۡتَقِیَانِ ۝١٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

He is the One Who has made the two seas flow that join each other

maraja l-baḥrayni yaltaqiyān

55:20

بَیۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخࣱ لَّا یَبۡغِیَانِ ۝٢٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

There is a barrier between them; they cannot breach (their respective) limits

baynahumā barzakhun lā yabghiyān

55:21

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:22

یَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ ۝٢٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The pearls (shading green) and corals (shading red) come forth from both (the seas)

yakhruju min'humā l-lu'lu-u wal-marjān

55:23

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:24

وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَءَاتُ فِی ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَـٰمِ ۝٢٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And (under) His (control) are (also) the big vessels with lofty sails raised high (anchoring or sailing) in the sea like mountains

walahu l-jawāri l-munshaātu fī l-baḥri kal-aʿlām

55:25

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:26

كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَیۡهَا فَانࣲ ۝٢٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Whoever is on the earth will perish

kullu man ʿalayhā fāni

55:27

وَیَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ۝٢٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And the essence of your Lord, Who is the Master of glory and splendour and the Master of bounty and honour, will remain

wayabqā wajhu rabbika dhū l-jalāli wal-ik'rām

55:28

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:29

یَسۡءَلُهُۥ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ یَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِی شَأۡنࣲ ۝٢٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

All that are in the heavens and the earth beg from Him alone. Every moment His Glory manifests anew

yasaluhu man fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi kulla yawmin huwa fī shani

55:30

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:31

سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَیُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ ۝٣١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

O both the groups (of men and jinn), soon shall We attend to your account

sanafrughu lakum ayyuha l-thaqalān

55:32

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:33

یَـٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ ۝٣٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

O company of the jinn and men! If you have the power to go across the boundaries of the heaven and the earth (and overpower the universe), then go ahead. Whichever station (i.e., heavenly sphere) you will go to, there too will be His Kingdom alone

yāmaʿshara l-jini wal-insi ini is'taṭaʿtum an tanfudhū min aqṭāri l-samāwāti wal-arḍi fa-unfudhū lā tanfudhūna illā bisul'ṭāni

55:34

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:35

یُرۡسَلُ عَلَیۡكُمَا شُوَاظࣱ مِّن نَّارࣲ وَنُحَاسࣱ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ ۝٣٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The flames of pure (i.e., smokeless) fire will be sent upon both of you and (flameless) smoke (too will be sent) and you both will be unable to escape from them

yur'salu ʿalaykumā shuwāẓun min nārin wanuḥāsun falā tantaṣirān

55:36

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:37

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةࣰ كَٱلدِّهَانِ ۝٣٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And when the heavens will split apart and will become rosy like burnt oil (or red leather)

fa-idhā inshaqqati l-samāu fakānat wardatan kal-dihān

55:38

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:39

فَیَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لَّا یُسۡءَلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦۤ إِنسࣱ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٣٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

That Day no man or jinn will be asked about his sin

fayawma-idhin lā yus'alu ʿan dhanbihi insun walā jānnu

55:40

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:41

یُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِیمَـٰهُمۡ فَیُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَ ٰصِی وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ ۝٤١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The evildoers will be recognized by the darkness of their faces and so they will be pulled, seized by their forelocks and feet

yuʿ'rafu l-muj'rimūna bisīmāhum fayu'khadhu bil-nawāṣī wal-aqdām

55:42

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:43

هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِی یُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٤٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(It will be said to them:) ‘It is this Hell which the evildoers used to deny.

hādhihi jahannamu allatī yukadhibu bihā l-muj'rimūn

55:44

یَطُوفُونَ بَیۡنَهَا وَبَیۡنَ حَمِیمٍ ءَانࣲ ۝٤٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

They will move about in that (Hell) and in the boiling hot water

yaṭūfūna baynahā wabayna ḥamīmin āni

55:45

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:46

وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ ۝٤٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And whoever fears standing before his Lord (for meeting), for him are two Gardens

waliman khāfa maqāma rabbihi jannatān

55:47

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:48

ذَوَاتَاۤ أَفۡنَانࣲ ۝٤٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

They are (green and fresh Gardens) with deep thick branches

dhawātā afnāni

55:49

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:50

فِیهِمَا عَیۡنَانِ تَجۡرِیَانِ ۝٥٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Two springs are flowing in both of them

fīhimā ʿaynāni tajriyān

55:51

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:52

فِیهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةࣲ زَوۡجَانِ ۝٥٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

In them are two kinds of every fruit

fīhimā min kulli fākihatin zawjān

55:53

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:54

مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَاۤىِٕنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقࣲۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَیۡنِ دَانࣲ ۝٥٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The residents of Paradise will be reclining on couches lined with fine and thick brocade (i.e., satin) and the fruits of both the Gardens will be hanging low (over them)

muttakiīna ʿalā furushin baṭāinuhā min is'tabraqin wajanā l-janatayni dāni

55:55

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:56

فِیهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَ ٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ لَمۡ یَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٥٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And in them will be (chaste maidens) with downcast gazes, untouched either by any man or jinn

fīhinna qāṣirātu l-ṭarfi lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnu

55:57

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:58

كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلۡیَاقُوتُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ ۝٥٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

As if they (chaste maidens) were rubies and pearls

ka-annahunna l-yāqūtu wal-marjān

55:59

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:60

هَلۡ جَزَاۤءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنُ ۝٦٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The reward of good cannot be anything but good

hal jazāu l-iḥ'sāni illā l-iḥ'sān

55:61

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:62

وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ ۝٦٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

And apart from these two there are also two more gardens (for them)

wamin dūnihimā jannatān

55:63

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:64

مُدۡهَاۤمَّتَانِ ۝٦٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Both appear deep green tinting black

mud'hāmmatān

55:65

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:66

فِیهِمَا عَیۡنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ ۝٦٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

There are two springs which will be gushing with force in these two (as well)

fīhimā ʿaynāni naḍḍākhatān

55:67

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:68

فِیهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَنَخۡلࣱ وَرُمَّانࣱ ۝٦٨

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

In both of them there are also fruits, date-palms and pomegranates

fīhimā fākihatun wanakhlun warummānu

55:69

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٩

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:70

فِیهِنَّ خَیۡرَ ٰتٌ حِسَانࣱ ۝٧٠

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

In them are pious and beautiful (chaste maidens as well)

fīhinna khayrātun ḥisānu

55:71

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧١

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:72

حُورࣱ مَّقۡصُورَ ٰتࣱ فِی ٱلۡخِیَامِ ۝٧٢

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The maidens who are veiling, confined in tents

ḥūrun maqṣūrātun fī l-khiyām

55:73

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٣

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:74

لَمۡ یَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٧٤

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Untouched before either by any man or jinn

lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnu

55:75

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٥

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:76

مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرࣲ وَعَبۡقَرِیٍّ حِسَانࣲ ۝٧٦

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

(The residents of Paradise) will be (sitting) reclining on cushions over green carpets and rare and exquisite, fine rugs

muttakiīna ʿalā rafrafin khuḍ'rin waʿabqariyyin ḥisāni

55:77

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٧

Dr. Mohammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

So which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:78
