55:1 ›
۞ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ ۝١
Bridges
The All-Merciful
al-raḥmān
55:2 ›
عَلَّمَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ۝٢
Bridges
taught the Recital,
khalaqa l-insān
55:3 ›
خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ ۝٣
Bridges
created man,
Khalaqa al-insana
55:4 ›
عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَیَانَ ۝٤
Bridges
and taught him clear expression.
al-shamsu wal-qamaru biḥus'bāni
55:5 ›
ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانࣲ ۝٥
Bridges
The sun and the moon move according to plan,
Alshshamsu waalqamaru bihusbanin
55:6 ›
وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ یَسۡجُدَانِ ۝٦
Bridges
and the plants and the trees prostrate themselves.
wal-najmu wal-shajaru yasjudān
55:7 ›
وَٱلسَّمَاۤءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِیزَانَ ۝٧
Bridges
And the sky—He raised it and set up the balance,
wal-samāa rafaʿahā wawaḍaʿa l-mīzān
55:8 ›
أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡمِیزَانِ ۝٨
Bridges
so dopl not exceed in the balance,
allā taṭghaw fī l-mīzān
55:9 ›
وَأَقِیمُوا۟ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُوا۟ ٱلۡمِیزَانَ ۝٩
Bridges
but maintain the weights justly and do not fall short in the balance.
wa-aqīmū l-wazna bil-qis'ṭi walā tukh'sirū l-mīzān
55:10 ›
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ ۝١٠
Bridges
And the earth—He set it up for living creatures;
wal-arḍa waḍaʿahā lil'anām
55:11 ›
فِیهَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ ۝١١
Bridges
in it are fruits and sheathed palm trees,
fīhā fākihatun wal-nakhlu dhātu l-akmām
55:12 ›
وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّیۡحَانُ ۝١٢
Bridges
and grains in the blades, and fragrant plants.
wal-ḥabu dhū l-ʿaṣfi wal-rayḥān
55:13 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٣
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:14 ›
خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ ۝١٤
Bridges
He created man from potter’s clay like pottery
khalaqa l-insāna min ṣalṣālin kal-fakhār
55:15 ›
وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَاۤنَّ مِن مَّارِجࣲ مِّن نَّارࣲ ۝١٥
Bridges
and created the unseen being from a smokeless flame of fire.
wakhalaqa l-jāna min mārijin min nāri
55:16 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٦
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:17 ›
رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَیۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَیۡنِ ۝١٧
Bridges
Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests.
rabbu l-mashriqayni warabbu l-maghribayn
55:18 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٨
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:19 ›
مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَیۡنِ یَلۡتَقِیَانِ ۝١٩
Bridges
He merged the two waters, converging together;
maraja l-baḥrayni yaltaqiyān
55:20 ›
بَیۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخࣱ لَّا یَبۡغِیَانِ ۝٢٠
Bridges
between them is a barrier which they do not overrun.
baynahumā barzakhun lā yabghiyān
55:21 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢١
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:22 ›
یَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ ۝٢٢
Bridges
From them come out pearls and corals.
yakhruju min'humā l-lu'lu-u wal-marjān
55:23 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٣
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:24 ›
وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَءَاتُ فِی ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَـٰمِ ۝٢٤
Bridges
His are the running ships, whose sails are raised in the sea like banners.
walahu l-jawāri l-munshaātu fī l-baḥri kal-aʿlām
55:25 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٥
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
2 Judgment of the Guilty
55:26 ›
كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَیۡهَا فَانࣲ ۝٢٦
Bridges
Everyone upon it is bound to perish,
kullu man ʿalayhā fāni
55:27 ›
وَیَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ۝٢٧
Bridges
and all that remains is yoursg Lord's Countenance, the Possessor of majesty and nobility.
wayabqā wajhu rabbika dhū l-jalāli wal-ik'rām
55:28 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٨
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:29 ›
یَسۡءَلُهُۥ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ یَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِی شَأۡنࣲ ۝٢٩
Bridges
Everyone in the heavens and the earth asks Him; every day He is bringing about a matter.
yasaluhu man fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi kulla yawmin huwa fī shani
55:30 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٠
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:31 ›
سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَیُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ ۝٣١
Bridges
We will attend to youpl, O two huge communities.
sanafrughu lakum ayyuha l-thaqalān
55:32 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٢
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:33 ›
یَـٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ ۝٣٣
Bridges
O society of unseen beings and humans, if youpl can penetrate the bounds of the heavens and the earth then go ahead and penetrate; you will never penetrate except with authority.
yāmaʿshara l-jini wal-insi ini is'taṭaʿtum an tanfudhū min aqṭāri l-samāwāti wal-arḍi fa-unfudhū lā tanfudhūna illā bisul'ṭāni
55:34 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٤
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:35 ›
یُرۡسَلُ عَلَیۡكُمَا شُوَاظࣱ مِّن نَّارࣲ وَنُحَاسࣱ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ ۝٣٥
Bridges
Flares of fire, and brass, will be sent upon youdl, and you will not find help.
yur'salu ʿalaykumā shuwāẓun min nārin wanuḥāsun falā tantaṣirān
55:36 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٦
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:37 ›
فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةࣰ كَٱلدِّهَانِ ۝٣٧
Bridges
And when the sky ruptures and becomes rose-colored like oil—
fa-idhā inshaqqati l-samāu fakānat wardatan kal-dihān
55:38 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٨
Bridges
so which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:39 ›
فَیَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لَّا یُسۡءَلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦۤ إِنسࣱ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٣٩
Bridges
On that day neither any human nor unseen being is asked about his misdeeds.
fayawma-idhin lā yus'alu ʿan dhanbihi insun walā jānnu
55:40 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٠
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:41 ›
یُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِیمَـٰهُمۡ فَیُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَ ٰصِی وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ ۝٤١
Bridges
The criminals are recognized by their marks then taken by the forelocks and the feet.
yuʿ'rafu l-muj'rimūna bisīmāhum fayu'khadhu bil-nawāṣī wal-aqdām
55:42 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٢
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:43 ›
هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِی یُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٤٣
Bridges
This is Hell in which the criminals disbelieve;
hādhihi jahannamu allatī yukadhibu bihā l-muj'rimūn
55:44 ›
یَطُوفُونَ بَیۡنَهَا وَبَیۡنَ حَمِیمٍ ءَانࣲ ۝٤٤
Bridges
they circulate between it and an intensely scalding water.
yaṭūfūna baynahā wabayna ḥamīmin āni
55:45 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٥
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
3 Reward of the Righteous
55:46 ›
وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ ۝٤٦
Bridges
But for whoever feared standing before his Lord there are two Gardens (in Paradise).
waliman khāfa maqāma rabbihi jannatān
55:47 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٧
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:48 ›
ذَوَاتَاۤ أَفۡنَانࣲ ۝٤٨
Bridges
Both having varieties.
dhawātā afnāni
55:49 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٩
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:50 ›
فِیهِمَا عَیۡنَانِ تَجۡرِیَانِ ۝٥٠
Bridges
In them are two flowing springs.
fīhimā ʿaynāni tajriyān
55:51 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥١
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:52 ›
فِیهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةࣲ زَوۡجَانِ ۝٥٢
Bridges
In them, of every kind of fruit there is a pair.
fīhimā min kulli fākihatin zawjān
55:53 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٣
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:54 ›
مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَاۤىِٕنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقࣲۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَیۡنِ دَانࣲ ۝٥٤
Bridges
Reclining on furnishings lined with brocade, and the yield of the two Gardens are near at hand.
muttakiīna ʿalā furushin baṭāinuhā min is'tabraqin wajanā l-janatayni dāni
55:55 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٥
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:56 ›
فِیهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَ ٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ لَمۡ یَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٥٦
Bridges
In them are bashful maidens, untouched before by any human or unseen being.
fīhinna qāṣirātu l-ṭarfi lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnu
55:57 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٧
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:58 ›
كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلۡیَاقُوتُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ ۝٥٨
Bridges
Like rubies and corals.
ka-annahunna l-yāqūtu wal-marjān
55:59 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٩
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:60 ›
هَلۡ جَزَاۤءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنُ ۝٦٠
Bridges
Is the repayment of kindness anything but kindness?
hal jazāu l-iḥ'sāni illā l-iḥ'sān
55:61 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦١
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:62 ›
وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ ۝٦٢
Bridges
And beneath them are two gardens.
wamin dūnihimā jannatān
55:63 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٣
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:64 ›
مُدۡهَاۤمَّتَانِ ۝٦٤
Bridges
Both of deepest green.
mud'hāmmatān
55:65 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٥
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:66 ›
فِیهِمَا عَیۡنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ ۝٦٦
Bridges
In them are two gushing springs.
fīhimā ʿaynāni naḍḍākhatān
55:67 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٧
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:68 ›
فِیهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَنَخۡلࣱ وَرُمَّانࣱ ۝٦٨
Bridges
In them are fruits and date-palms and pomegranates.
fīhimā fākihatun wanakhlun warummānu
55:69 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٩
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:70 ›
فِیهِنَّ خَیۡرَ ٰتٌ حِسَانࣱ ۝٧٠
Bridges
In them are good, beautiful ones.
fīhinna khayrātun ḥisānu
55:71 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧١
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:72 ›
حُورࣱ مَّقۡصُورَ ٰتࣱ فِی ٱلۡخِیَامِ ۝٧٢
Bridges
Spouses with lovely wide eyes, secluded in pavilions.
ḥūrun maqṣūrātun fī l-khiyām
55:73 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٣
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:74 ›
لَمۡ یَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٧٤
Bridges
Untouched before by any human or unseen being.
lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnu
55:75 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٥
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:76 ›
مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرࣲ وَعَبۡقَرِیٍّ حِسَانࣲ ۝٧٦
Bridges
Reclining on green cushions and exquisite carpets.
muttakiīna ʿalā rafrafin khuḍ'rin waʿabqariyyin ḥisāni
55:77 ›
فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٧
Bridges
So which of your Lord’s marvels do youdl disbelieve in?
fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān
55:78 ›
تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِی ٱلۡجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ۝٧٨
Bridges
Supremely Blessed be the Name of yoursg Lord, the Possessor of majesty and nobility.
tabāraka us'mu rabbika dhī l-jalāli wal-ik'rām
