1 Divine Beneficence

۞ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ ۝١

عَلَّمَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ۝٢

He taught the Quran;

khalaqa l-insān

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ ۝٣

He created man,

Khalaqa al-insana

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَیَانَ ۝٤

He taught him the clear speech.

al-shamsu wal-qamaru biḥus'bāni

ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانࣲ ۝٥

The sun and the moon with calculation.

Alshshamsu waalqamaru bihusbanin

وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ یَسۡجُدَانِ ۝٦

And the star and the tree both prostrate.

wal-najmu wal-shajaru yasjudān

وَٱلسَّمَاۤءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِیزَانَ ۝٧

And the heaven, He raised it and He set down the balance,

wal-samāa rafaʿahā wawaḍaʿa l-mīzān

أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡمِیزَانِ ۝٨

That you not be immoderate in the balance;

allā taṭghaw fī l-mīzān

وَأَقِیمُوا۟ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُوا۟ ٱلۡمِیزَانَ ۝٩

And make the weight upright with justice and do not cause the balance loss.

wa-aqīmū l-wazna bil-qis'ṭi walā tukh'sirū l-mīzān

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ ۝١٠

And the earth, He set it down for the creatures;

wal-arḍa waḍaʿahā lil'anām

فِیهَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ ۝١١

In it fruit; and the palms, possessors of the calyxes;

fīhā fākihatun wal-nakhlu dhātu l-akmām

وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّیۡحَانُ ۝١٢

And the grain, possessors of the straw; and the fragrant plants.

wal-ḥabu dhū l-ʿaṣfi wal-rayḥān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٣

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ ۝١٤

He created man from clay like the pottery.

khalaqa l-insāna min ṣalṣālin kal-fakhār

وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَاۤنَّ مِن مَّارِجࣲ مِّن نَّارࣲ ۝١٥

And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.

wakhalaqa l-jāna min mārijin min nāri

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٦

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَیۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَیۡنِ ۝١٧

The Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests.

rabbu l-mashriqayni warabbu l-maghribayn

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٨

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَیۡنِ یَلۡتَقِیَانِ ۝١٩

He has loosed the two seas. They meet.

maraja l-baḥrayni yaltaqiyān

بَیۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخࣱ لَّا یَبۡغِیَانِ ۝٢٠

Between them is a barrier they cannot pass.

baynahumā barzakhun lā yabghiyān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢١

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

یَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ ۝٢٢

There comes forth from both of them the pearls and the coral.

yakhruju min'humā l-lu'lu-u wal-marjān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٣

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَءَاتُ فِی ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَـٰمِ ۝٢٤

And for Him are the ships elevated in the sea like the mountains.

walahu l-jawāri l-munshaātu fī l-baḥri kal-aʿlām

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٥

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

2 Judgment of the Guilty

كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَیۡهَا فَانࣲ ۝٢٦

All who are upon it are transient,

kullu man ʿalayhā fāni

وَیَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ۝٢٧

And the face of your Lord, the possessor of Majesty and Honour, will remain.

wayabqā wajhu rabbika dhū l-jalāli wal-ik'rām

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٨

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

یَسۡءَلُهُۥ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ یَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِی شَأۡنࣲ ۝٢٩

Whoever is in the heavens and the earth asks Him; everyday He is in business.

yasaluhu man fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi kulla yawmin huwa fī shani

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٠

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَیُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ ۝٣١

Soon We will attend to you, O two burdens.

sanafrughu lakum ayyuha l-thaqalān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٢

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

یَـٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ ۝٣٣

O assembly of the jinn and mankind! If you are able that you pass through the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass through it. You cannot pass through except with authority.

yāmaʿshara l-jini wal-insi ini is'taṭaʿtum an tanfudhū min aqṭāri l-samāwāti wal-arḍi fa-unfudhū lā tanfudhūna illā bisul'ṭāni

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٤

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

یُرۡسَلُ عَلَیۡكُمَا شُوَاظࣱ مِّن نَّارࣲ وَنُحَاسࣱ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ ۝٣٥

There will be sent against both of you a flame of fire, and molten copper; and you cannot defend yourselves.

yur'salu ʿalaykumā shuwāẓun min nārin wanuḥāsun falā tantaṣirān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٦

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةࣰ كَٱلدِّهَانِ ۝٣٧

And when the heaven is split asunder and it becomes rosy red, like oil.

fa-idhā inshaqqati l-samāu fakānat wardatan kal-dihān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٨

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فَیَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لَّا یُسۡءَلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦۤ إِنسࣱ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٣٩

Then on that day no man nor jinn will be asked about his sin.

fayawma-idhin lā yus'alu ʿan dhanbihi insun walā jānnu

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٠

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

یُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِیمَـٰهُمۡ فَیُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَ ٰصِی وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ ۝٤١

The sinners will be recognised by their mark, and they will be seized by the forelocks and the feet.

yuʿ'rafu l-muj'rimūna bisīmāhum fayu'khadhu bil-nawāṣī wal-aqdām

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٢

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِی یُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٤٣

This is Hell which the sinners call a lie.

hādhihi jahannamu allatī yukadhibu bihā l-muj'rimūn

یَطُوفُونَ بَیۡنَهَا وَبَیۡنَ حَمِیمٍ ءَانࣲ ۝٤٤

They will go round between it and hot, boiling water.

yaṭūfūna baynahā wabayna ḥamīmin āni

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٥

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

3 Reward of the Righteous

وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ ۝٤٦

And for he who feared the station of His Lord are two gardens.

waliman khāfa maqāma rabbihi jannatān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٧

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

ذَوَاتَاۤ أَفۡنَانࣲ ۝٤٨

Possessed of branches.

dhawātā afnāni

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٩

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فِیهِمَا عَیۡنَانِ تَجۡرِیَانِ ۝٥٠

In both of them are two flowing springs.

fīhimā ʿaynāni tajriyān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥١

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فِیهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةࣲ زَوۡجَانِ ۝٥٢

In both of them are pairs of every fruit.

fīhimā min kulli fākihatin zawjān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٣

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَاۤىِٕنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقࣲۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَیۡنِ دَانࣲ ۝٥٤

Reclining on beds whose linings are of brocade. And the fruit of the two gardens near.

muttakiīna ʿalā furushin baṭāinuhā min is'tabraqin wajanā l-janatayni dāni

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٥

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فِیهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَ ٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ لَمۡ یَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٥٦

In them are women restraining their glances, whom no man before them nor jinn has deflowered.

fīhinna qāṣirātu l-ṭarfi lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnu

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٧

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلۡیَاقُوتُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ ۝٥٨

As if they were the ruby and the coral.

ka-annahunna l-yāqūtu wal-marjān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٩

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

هَلۡ جَزَاۤءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنُ ۝٦٠

Is the reward of goodness except goodness?

hal jazāu l-iḥ'sāni illā l-iḥ'sān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦١

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ ۝٦٢

And besides both of them are two gardens.

wamin dūnihimā jannatān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٣

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

مُدۡهَاۤمَّتَانِ ۝٦٤

Dark green foliage.

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٥

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فِیهِمَا عَیۡنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ ۝٦٦

In both of them are two gushing springs.

fīhimā ʿaynāni naḍḍākhatān

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٧

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فِیهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَنَخۡلࣱ وَرُمَّانࣱ ۝٦٨

In both of them fruit and palms and pomegranates.

fīhimā fākihatun wanakhlun warummānu

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٩

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

فِیهِنَّ خَیۡرَ ٰتٌ حِسَانࣱ ۝٧٠

In them good, good.

fīhinna khayrātun ḥisānu

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧١

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

حُورࣱ مَّقۡصُورَ ٰتࣱ فِی ٱلۡخِیَامِ ۝٧٢

Houris, cloistered in the tents.

ḥūrun maqṣūrātun fī l-khiyām

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٣

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

لَمۡ یَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٧٤

Whom no man before them nor jinn has deflowered.

lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnu

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٥

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرࣲ وَعَبۡقَرِیٍّ حِسَانࣲ ۝٧٦

Reclining on green cushions and good carpets.

muttakiīna ʿalā rafrafin khuḍ'rin waʿabqariyyin ḥisāni

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٧

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِی ٱلۡجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ۝٧٨

Blessed is the name of your Lord, the possessor of Majesty and Honour.

tabāraka us'mu rabbika dhī l-jalāli wal-ik'rām
