55:1

۞ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ ۝١

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

The RaHman (The All-Merciful Allah

al-raḥmān

55:2

عَلَّمَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ۝٢

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

has taught the Qur‘an

khalaqa l-insān

55:3

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ ۝٣

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَیَانَ ۝٤

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

He has taught him (how) to express himself

al-shamsu wal-qamaru biḥus'bāni

55:5

ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانࣲ ۝٥

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

The sun and the moon are (bound) by a (fixed) calculation

Alshshamsu waalqamaru bihusbanin

55:6

وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ یَسۡجُدَانِ ۝٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

And the vine and the tree both prostrate (to Allah)

wal-najmu wal-shajaru yasjudān

55:7

وَٱلسَّمَاۤءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِیزَانَ ۝٧

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

He raised the sky high, and has placed the scale

wal-samāa rafaʿahā wawaḍaʿa l-mīzān

55:8

أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡمِیزَانِ ۝٨

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

so that you should not be wrongful in weighing

allā taṭghaw fī l-mīzān

55:9

وَأَقِیمُوا۟ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُوا۟ ٱلۡمِیزَانَ ۝٩

Observe the correct weight with fairness, and do not make weighing deficient

wa-aqīmū l-wazna bil-qis'ṭi walā tukh'sirū l-mīzān

55:10

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ ۝١٠

As for the earth, He has placed it for creatures

wal-arḍa waḍaʿahā lil'anām

55:11

فِیهَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ ۝١١

in which there are fruits and date palms having sheaths

fīhā fākihatun wal-nakhlu dhātu l-akmām

55:12

وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّیۡحَانُ ۝١٢

and the grain having chaff, and fragrant flowers

wal-ḥabu dhū l-ʿaṣfi wal-rayḥān

55:13

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٣

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, (O mankind and Jinn,) which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:14

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ ۝١٤

He has created man from dry clay, ringing like pottery

khalaqa l-insāna min ṣalṣālin kal-fakhār

55:15

وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَاۤنَّ مِن مَّارِجࣲ مِّن نَّارࣲ ۝١٥

and created Jann (father of the Jinn) from a smokeless flame of fire

wakhalaqa l-jāna min mārijin min nāri

55:16

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, (O mankind and Jinn,) which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:17

رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَیۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَیۡنِ ۝١٧

He is the Lord of both points of sunrise and both points of sunset

rabbu l-mashriqayni warabbu l-maghribayn

55:18

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝١٨

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:19

مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَیۡنِ یَلۡتَقِیَانِ ۝١٩

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

He let forth the two seas to meet together

maraja l-baḥrayni yaltaqiyān

55:20

بَیۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخࣱ لَّا یَبۡغِیَانِ ۝٢٠

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

while there is a barrier between them; they do not encroach (upon one another)

baynahumā barzakhun lā yabghiyān

55:21

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢١

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:22

یَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ ۝٢٢

From both of them come forth the pearl and the coral

yakhruju min'humā l-lu'lu-u wal-marjān

55:23

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٣

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:24

وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَءَاتُ فِی ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَـٰمِ ۝٢٤

And His are the sailing ships raised up in the sea like mountains

walahu l-jawāri l-munshaātu fī l-baḥri kal-aʿlām

55:25

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٥

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:26

كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَیۡهَا فَانࣲ ۝٢٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Every one who is on it (the earth) has to perish

kullu man ʿalayhā fāni

55:27

وَیَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ۝٢٧

And your Lord‘s Countenance will remain, full of majesty, full of honour

wayabqā wajhu rabbika dhū l-jalāli wal-ik'rām

55:28

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٢٨

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:29

یَسۡءَلُهُۥ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ یَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِی شَأۡنࣲ ۝٢٩

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

All those in the heavens and the earth beseech Him (for their needs.) Every day He is in a state of action

yasaluhu man fī l-samāwāti wal-arḍi kulla yawmin huwa fī shani

55:30

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٠

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:31

سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَیُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ ۝٣١

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Soon We are going to spare Ourselves for you (to reckon your deeds), O two heavy species (of Jinn and mankind)

sanafrughu lakum ayyuha l-thaqalān

55:32

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٢

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:33

یَـٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ ۝٣٣

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

O genera of Jinn and mankind, If you are able to penetrate beyond the realms of the heavens and the earth, then penetrate. You cannot penetrate without power

yāmaʿshara l-jini wal-insi ini is'taṭaʿtum an tanfudhū min aqṭāri l-samāwāti wal-arḍi fa-unfudhū lā tanfudhūna illā bisul'ṭāni

55:34

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٤

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:35

یُرۡسَلُ عَلَیۡكُمَا شُوَاظࣱ مِّن نَّارࣲ وَنُحَاسࣱ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ ۝٣٥

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

A flame of fire and a smoke will be loosed against you, and you will not (be able) to defend

yur'salu ʿalaykumā shuwāẓun min nārin wanuḥāsun falā tantaṣirān

55:36

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:37

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةࣰ كَٱلدِّهَانِ ۝٣٧

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, (it will be a terrible event) when the sky will be split apart and will become rosy, like (red) hides

fa-idhā inshaqqati l-samāu fakānat wardatan kal-dihān

55:38

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٣٨

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:39

فَیَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لَّا یُسۡءَلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦۤ إِنسࣱ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٣٩

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

On that day, neither a man will be questioned about his sin, nor a Jinn

fayawma-idhin lā yus'alu ʿan dhanbihi insun walā jānnu

55:40

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٠

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:41

یُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِیمَـٰهُمۡ فَیُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَ ٰصِی وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ ۝٤١

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

The guilty ones will be recognized (by angels) through their marks and will be seized by foreheads and feet

yuʿ'rafu l-muj'rimūna bisīmāhum fayu'khadhu bil-nawāṣī wal-aqdām

55:42

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٢

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:43

هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِی یُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ۝٤٣

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

This is Jahannam (Hell) that the guilty people deny

hādhihi jahannamu allatī yukadhibu bihā l-muj'rimūn

55:44

یَطُوفُونَ بَیۡنَهَا وَبَیۡنَ حَمِیمٍ ءَانࣲ ۝٤٤

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

They will circle around between it and between hot, boiling water

yaṭūfūna baynahā wabayna ḥamīmin āni

55:45

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٥

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:46

وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ ۝٤٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

And for the one who is fearful of having to stand before his Lord, there are two gardens, _

waliman khāfa maqāma rabbihi jannatān

55:47

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٧

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:48

ذَوَاتَاۤ أَفۡنَانࣲ ۝٤٨

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

__ both having branches

dhawātā afnāni

55:49

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٤٩

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:50

فِیهِمَا عَیۡنَانِ تَجۡرِیَانِ ۝٥٠

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

In both there are two flowing springs

fīhimā ʿaynāni tajriyān

55:51

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥١

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:52

فِیهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةࣲ زَوۡجَانِ ۝٥٢

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

In both there are two kinds of every fruit

fīhimā min kulli fākihatin zawjān

55:53

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٣

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:54

مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَاۤىِٕنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقࣲۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَیۡنِ دَانࣲ ۝٥٤

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

(The people of these gardens will be) reclining on floorings whose (even) linings will be of thick silk, and the fruits plucked from the two gardens will be at hand

muttakiīna ʿalā furushin baṭāinuhā min is'tabraqin wajanā l-janatayni dāni

55:55

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٥

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:56

فِیهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَ ٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ لَمۡ یَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٥٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

In them there will be maidens restraining (their) glances, whom neither a man might have touched before them, nor a Jinn

fīhinna qāṣirātu l-ṭarfi lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnu

55:57

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٧

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:58

كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلۡیَاقُوتُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ ۝٥٨

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

They will look like rubies and corals

ka-annahunna l-yāqūtu wal-marjān

55:59

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٥٩

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:60

هَلۡ جَزَاۤءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنُ ۝٦٠

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

Is there any reward for goodness other than goodness

hal jazāu l-iḥ'sāni illā l-iḥ'sān

55:61

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦١

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:62

وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ ۝٦٢

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

And besides these two, there are two other gardens (for the second category of the God-fearing),_

wamin dūnihimā jannatān

55:63

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٣

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:64

مُدۡهَاۤمَّتَانِ ۝٦٤

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

__ both (gardens are) dark green

mud'hāmmatān

55:65

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٥

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:66

فِیهِمَا عَیۡنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ ۝٦٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

In both there are two springs gushing forth profusely

fīhimā ʿaynāni naḍḍākhatān

55:67

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٧

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:68

فِیهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةࣱ وَنَخۡلࣱ وَرُمَّانࣱ ۝٦٨

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

In both there are fruits and date-palms and pomegranates

fīhimā fākihatun wanakhlun warummānu

55:69

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٦٩

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:70

فِیهِنَّ خَیۡرَ ٰتٌ حِسَانࣱ ۝٧٠

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

In them there will be women, good and gorgeous,_

fīhinna khayrātun ḥisānu

55:71

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧١

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:72

حُورࣱ مَّقۡصُورَ ٰتࣱ فِی ٱلۡخِیَامِ ۝٧٢

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

__ the houris, kept guarded in pavilions_

ḥūrun maqṣūrātun fī l-khiyām

55:73

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٣

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:74

لَمۡ یَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَاۤنࣱّ ۝٧٤

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

__ whom neither a man might have touched before them, nor a Jinn

lam yaṭmith'hunna insun qablahum walā jānnu

55:75

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٥

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:76

مُتَّكِءِینَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرࣲ وَعَبۡقَرِیٍّ حِسَانࣲ ۝٧٦

Muhammad Taqi Usmani

(The people of these gardens will be) reclining on green cushions and marvelously beautiful mattresses

muttakiīna ʿalā rafrafin khuḍ'rin waʿabqariyyin ḥisāni

55:77

فَبِأَیِّ ءَالَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ۝٧٧

So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny

fabi-ayyi ālāi rabbikumā tukadhibān

55:78

تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِی ٱلۡجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ ۝٧٨

Glorious is the name of your Lord, the Lord of Majesty, the Lord of Honour

tabāraka us'mu rabbika dhī l-jalāli wal-ik'rām
