نَّصْبِرَ naṣbira

طَعَامٍ ṭaʿāmin

وَٰحِدٍ wāḥidin

فَٱدْعُ fa-ud'ʿu
so pray V
لَنَا lanā

رَبَّكَ rabbaka
(to) your Lord Noun
يُخْرِجْ yukh'rij
to bring forth V
لَنَا lanā

مِمَّا mimmā
out of what Prep
تُنۢبِتُ tunbitu
grows V
ٱلْأَرْضُ l-arḍu
the earth Noun
مِنۢ min

بَقْلِهَا baqlihā
its herbs Noun
وَقِثَّآئِهَا waqithāihā
[and] its cucumbers Noun
وَفُومِهَا wafūmihā
[and] its garlic Noun
وَعَدَسِهَا waʿadasihā
[and] its lentils Noun
وَبَصَلِهَا wabaṣalihā
and its onions Noun
قَالَ qāla
He said V
أَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ atastabdilūna
Would you exchange V
ٱلَّذِى alladhī
that which Noun
هُوَ huwa
[it] Noun
أَدْنَىٰ adnā
(is) inferior Noun
بِٱلَّذِى bi-alladhī
for that which Noun
هُوَ huwa
[it] Noun
خَيْرٌ khayrun
(is) better Noun
ٱهْبِطُوا۟ ih'biṭū
Go down V
مِصْرًا miṣ'ran
(to) a city Noun
فَإِنَّ fa-inna
so indeed Prep
لَكُم lakum
for you Noun
مَّا mā
(is) what Noun
سَأَلْتُمْ sa-altum
you have asked (for) V
وَضُرِبَتْ waḍuribat
And were struck V
عَلَيْهِمُ ʿalayhimu
on them Prep
ٱلذِّلَّةُ l-dhilatu
the humiliation Noun
وَٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ wal-maskanatu
and the misery Noun
وَبَآءُو wabāū
and they drew on themselves V
بِغَضَبٍ bighaḍabin
wrath Noun
مِّنَ mina
of Prep
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi
Allah Noun
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika
That (was) Noun
بِأَنَّهُمْ bi-annahum
because they Prep
كَانُوا۟ kānū
used to V
يَكْفُرُونَ yakfurūna
disbelieve V
بِـَٔايَٰتِ biāyāti
in (the) Signs Noun
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi
(of) Allah Noun
وَيَقْتُلُونَ wayaqtulūna
and kill V
ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ l-nabiyīna
the Prophets Noun
بِغَيْرِ bighayri
without (any) Noun
ٱلْحَقِّ l-ḥaqi
[the] right Noun
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika
That Noun
بِمَا bimā
(was) because Noun
عَصَوا۟ ʿaṣaw
they disobeyed V
وَّكَانُوا۟ wakānū
and they were V
يَعْتَدُونَ yaʿtadūna
transgressing V

Remember when you said, ‘Moses, we cannot bear to eat only one kind of food, so pray to your Lord to bring out for us some of the earth’s produce, its herbs and cucumbers, its garlic, lentils, and onions.’ He said, ‘Would you exchange better for worse? Go to Egypt and there you will find what you have asked for.’ They were struck with humiliation and wretchedness, and they incurred the wrath of God because they persistently rejected His messages and killed prophets contrary to all that is right. All this was because they disobeyed and were lawbreakers

وَإِذۡ قُلۡتُمۡ یَـٰمُوسَىٰ لَن نَّصۡبِرَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامࣲ وَ ٰحِدࣲ فَٱدۡعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ یُخۡرِجۡ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنۢبِتُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مِنۢ بَقۡلِهَا وَقِثَّاۤىِٕهَا وَفُومِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَبَصَلِهَاۖ قَالَ أَتَسۡتَبۡدِلُونَ ٱلَّذِی هُوَ أَدۡنَىٰ بِٱلَّذِی هُوَ خَیۡرٌۚ ٱهۡبِطُوا۟ مِصۡرࣰا فَإِنَّ لَكُم مَّا سَأَلۡتُمۡۗ وَضُرِبَتۡ عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلذِّلَّةُ وَٱلۡمَسۡكَنَةُ وَبَاۤءُو بِغَضَبࣲ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِۗ ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ یَكۡفُرُونَ بِءَایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَیَقۡتُلُونَ ٱلنَّبِیِّـۧنَ بِغَیۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّۗ ذَ ٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا۟ وَّكَانُوا۟ یَعۡتَدُونَ ۝٦١

wa-idh qul'tum yāmūsā lan naṣbira ʿalā ṭaʿāmin wāḥidin fa-ud'ʿu lanā rabbaka yukh'rij lanā mimmā tunbitu l-arḍu min baqlihā waqithāihā wafūmihā waʿadasihā wabaṣalihā qāla atastabdilūna alladhī huwa adnā bi-alladhī huwa khayrun ih'biṭū miṣ'ran fa-inna lakum mā sa-altum waḍuribat ʿalayhimu l-dhilatu wal-maskanatu wabāū bighaḍabin mina l-lahi dhālika bi-annahum kānū yakfurūna biāyāti l-lahi wayaqtulūna l-nabiyīna bighayri l-ḥaqi dhālika bimā ʿaṣaw wakānū yaʿtadūn
