تَقْتُلُونَ taqtulūna

أَنفُسَكُمْ anfusakum

وَتُخْرِجُونَ watukh'rijūna
and evict V
فَرِيقًا farīqan
a party Noun
مِّنكُم minkum
of you Prep
مِّن min
from Prep
دِيَٰرِهِمْ diyārihim
their homes Noun
تَظَٰهَرُونَ taẓāharūna
you support one another V
عَلَيْهِم ʿalayhim
against them Prep
بِٱلْإِثْمِ bil-ith'mi
in sin Noun
وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ wal-ʿud'wāni
and [the] transgression Noun
وَإِن wa-in
And if Prep
يَأْتُوكُمْ yatūkum
they come to you V
أُسَٰرَىٰ usārā
(as) captives Noun
تُفَٰدُوهُمْ tufādūhum
you ransom them V
وَهُوَ wahuwa
while it Noun
مُحَرَّمٌ muḥarramun
(was) forbidden Noun
عَلَيْكُمْ ʿalaykum
to you Prep
إِخْرَاجُهُمْ ikh'rājuhum
their eviction Noun
أَفَتُؤْمِنُونَ afatu'minūna
So do you believe V
بِبَعْضِ bibaʿḍi
in part (of) Noun
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ l-kitābi
the Book Noun
وَتَكْفُرُونَ watakfurūna
and disbelieve V
بِبَعْضٍ bibaʿḍin
in part Noun
فَمَا famā
Then what Prep
جَزَآءُ jazāu
(should be the) recompense Noun
مَن man
(for the one) who Noun
يَفْعَلُ yafʿalu
does V
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika
that Noun
مِنكُمْ minkum
among you Prep
إِلَّا illā
except Prep
خِزْىٌ khiz'yun
disgrace Noun
فِى fī
in Prep
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ l-ḥayati
the life Noun
ٱلدُّنْيَا l-dun'yā
(of) the world Noun
وَيَوْمَ wayawma
and (on the) Day Noun
ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ l-qiyāmati
of [the] Resurrection Noun
يُرَدُّونَ yuraddūna
they will be sent back V
إِلَىٰٓ ilā
to Prep
أَشَدِّ ashaddi
(the) most severe Noun
ٱلْعَذَابِ l-ʿadhābi
punishment Noun
وَمَا wamā
And not Prep
ٱللَّهُ l-lahu
(is) Allah Noun
بِغَٰفِلٍ bighāfilin
unaware Noun
عَمَّا ʿammā
of what Prep
تَعْمَلُونَ taʿmalūna
you do V

Yet here you are, killing one another and driving some of your own people from their homes, helping one another in sin and aggression against them. If they come to you as captives, you still pay to set them free, although you had no right to drive them out. So do you believe in some parts of the Scripture and not in others? The punishment for those of you who do this will be nothing but disgrace in this life, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be condemned to the harshest torment: God is not unaware of what you do

ثُمَّ أَنتُمۡ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ تَقۡتُلُونَ أَنفُسَكُمۡ وَتُخۡرِجُونَ فَرِیقࣰا مِّنكُم مِّن دِیَـٰرِهِمۡ تَظَـٰهَرُونَ عَلَیۡهِم بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوَ ٰنِ وَإِن یَأۡتُوكُمۡ أُسَـٰرَىٰ تُفَـٰدُوهُمۡ وَهُوَ مُحَرَّمٌ عَلَیۡكُمۡ إِخۡرَاجُهُمۡۚ أَفَتُؤۡمِنُونَ بِبَعۡضِ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ وَتَكۡفُرُونَ بِبَعۡضࣲۚ فَمَا جَزَاۤءُ مَن یَفۡعَلُ ذَ ٰلِكَ مِنكُمۡ إِلَّا خِزۡیࣱ فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۖ وَیَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ یُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰۤ أَشَدِّ ٱلۡعَذَابِۗ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ بِغَـٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٨٥

thumma antum hāulāi taqtulūna anfusakum watukh'rijūna farīqan minkum min diyārihim taẓāharūna ʿalayhim bil-ith'mi wal-ʿud'wāni wa-in yatūkum usārā tufādūhum wahuwa muḥarramun ʿalaykum ikh'rājuhum afatu'minūna bibaʿḍi l-kitābi watakfurūna bibaʿḍin famā jazāu man yafʿalu dhālika minkum illā khiz'yun fī l-ḥayati l-dun'yā wayawma l-qiyāmati yuraddūna ilā ashaddi l-ʿadhābi wamā l-lahu bighāfilin ʿammā taʿmalūn
