سَخَّرَهَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ سَبۡعَ لَیَالࣲ وَثَمَـٰنِیَةَ أَیَّامٍ حُسُومࣰاۖ فَتَرَى ٱلۡقَوۡمَ فِیهَا صَرۡعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمۡ أَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٍ خَاوِیَةࣲ ۝٧

that God let loose against them for seven consecutive nights, eight consecutive days, so that you could have seen its people lying dead like hollow palm-trunks

وَجَاۤءَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَن قَبۡلَهُۥ وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلۡخَاطِئَةِ ۝٩

وجاء الطاغية فرعون، ومَن سبقه من الأمم التي كفرت برسلها، وأهل قرى قوم لوط الذين انقلبت بهم ديارهم بسبب الفعلة المنكرة من الكفر والشرك والفواحش، فعصت كل أمة منهم رسول ربهم الذي أرسله إليهم، فأخذهم الله أخذة بالغة في الشدة.

فَعَصَوۡا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمۡ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ أَخۡذَةࣰ رَّابِیَةً ۝١٠

إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلۡمَاۤءُ حَمَلۡنَـٰكُمۡ فِی ٱلۡجَارِیَةِ ۝١١

إنَّا لما جاوز الماء حدَّه، حتى علا وارتفع فوق كل شيء، حملنا أصولكم مع نوح في السفينة التي تجري في الماء؛ لنجعل الواقعة التي كان فيها نجاة المؤمنين وإغراق الكافرين عبرة وعظة، وتحفظها كل أذن مِن شأنها أن تحفظ، وتعقل عن الله ما سمعت.

لِنَجۡعَلَهَا لَكُمۡ تَذۡكِرَةࣰ وَتَعِیَهَاۤ أُذُنࣱ وَ ٰعِیَةࣱ ۝١٢

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِی ٱلصُّورِ نَفۡخَةࣱ وَ ٰحِدَةࣱ ۝١٣

فإذا نفخ المَلَك في "القرن" نفخة واحدة، وهي النفخة الأولى التي يكون عندها هلاك العالم، ورُفعت الأرض والجبال عن أماكنها فكُسِّرتا، ودُقَّتا دقة واحدة. ففي ذلك الحين قامت القيامة، وانصدعت السماء، فهي يومئذ ضعيفة مسترخية، لا تماسُك فيها ولا صلابة، والملائكة على جوانبها وأطرافها، ويحمل عرش ربك فوقهم يوم القيامة ثمانية من الملائكة العظام. في ذلك اليوم تُعرضون على الله- أيها الناس- للحساب والجزاء، لا يخفى عليه شيء من أسراركم.

وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَٱلۡجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ ۝١٤

فَیَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ ۝١٥

وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ فَهِیَ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ وَاهِیَةࣱ ۝١٦

وَٱلۡمَلَكُ عَلَىٰۤ أَرۡجَاۤىِٕهَاۚ وَیَحۡمِلُ عَرۡشَ رَبِّكَ فَوۡقَهُمۡ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ ثَمَـٰنِیَةࣱ ۝١٧

The angels will be on all sides of it and, on that Day, eight of them will bear the throne of your Lord above them

یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ تُعۡرَضُونَ لَا تَخۡفَىٰ مِنكُمۡ خَافِیَةࣱ ۝١٨

فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِیَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِیَمِینِهِۦ فَیَقُولُ هَاۤؤُمُ ٱقۡرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِیَهۡ ۝١٩

Anyone who is given his Record in his right hand will say, ‘Here is my Record, read it

فأمَّا من أُعطي كتاب أعماله بيمينه، فيقول ابتهاجًا وسرورًا: خذوا اقرؤوا كتابي، إني أيقنت في الدنيا بأني سألقى جزائي يوم القيامة، فأعددت له العدة من الإيمان والعمل الصالح، فهو في عيشة هنيئة مرضية، في جنة مرتفعة المكان والدرجات، ثمارها قريبة يتناولها القائم والقاعد والمضطجع. يقال لهم: كلوا أكلا واشربوا شربًا بعيدًا عن كل أذى، سالمين من كل مكروه؛ بسبب ما قدَّمتم من الأعمال الصالحة في أيام الدنيا الماضية.
