Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Nor are you worshippers of what I worship

Jonah 10:107 Noun
وَإِن یَمۡسَسۡكَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرࣲّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥۤ إِلَّا هُوَۖ وَإِن یُرِدۡكَ بِخَیۡرࣲ فَلَا رَاۤدَّ لِفَضۡلِهِۦۚ یُصِیبُ بِهِۦ مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٠٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him; and if He intends for you good, then there is no repeller of His bounty. He causes it to reach whom He wills of His servants. And He is the Forgiving, the Merciful
Abdel Haleem: If God inflicts harm on you, no one can remove it but Him, and if He intends good for you, no one can turn His bounty away; He grants His bounty to any of His servants He will. He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: If Allah afflicteth thee with some hurt, there is none who can remove it save Him; and if He desireth good for thee, there is none who can repel His bounty. He striketh with it whom He will of his bondmen. He is the Forgiving, the Merciful
Jonah 10:29 Noun
فَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِیدَۢا بَیۡنَنَا وَبَیۡنَكُمۡ إِن كُنَّا عَنۡ عِبَادَتِكُمۡ لَغَـٰفِلِینَ ۝٢٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And sufficient is Allah as a witness between us and you that we were of your worship unaware."
Abdel Haleem: God is witness enough between us and you- we had no idea that you worshipped us.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah sufficeth as a witness between us and you, that we were unaware of your worship
Joseph 12:24 Noun
وَلَقَدۡ هَمَّتۡ بِهِۦۖ وَهَمَّ بِهَا لَوۡلَاۤ أَن رَّءَا بُرۡهَـٰنَ رَبِّهِۦۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ لِنَصۡرِفَ عَنۡهُ ٱلسُّوۤءَ وَٱلۡفَحۡشَاۤءَۚ إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٢٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And she certainly determined [to seduce] him, and he would have inclined to her had he not seen the proof of his Lord. And thus [it was] that We should avert from him evil and immorality. Indeed, he was of Our chosen servants
Abdel Haleem: She made for him, and he would have succumbed to her if he had not seen evidence of his Lord- We did this in order to keep evil and indecency away from him, for he was truly one of Our chosen servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: She verily desired him, and he would have desired her if it had not been that he saw the argument of his Lord. Thus it was, that We might ward off from him evil and lewdness. Lo! he was of Our chosen slaves
Abraham 14:11 Noun
قَالَتۡ لَهُمۡ رُسُلُهُمۡ إِن نَّحۡنُ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَمُنُّ عَلَىٰ مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَمَا كَانَ لَنَاۤ أَن نَّأۡتِیَكُم بِسُلۡطَـٰنٍ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلۡیَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝١١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Their messengers said to them, "We are only men like you, but Allah confers favor upon whom He wills of His servants. It has never been for us to bring you evidence except by permission of Allah . And upon Allah let the believers rely
Abdel Haleem: Their messengers answered, ‘True, we are only men like you, but God favours whichever of His servants He chooses. We cannot bring you any proof unless God permits it, so let the believers put all their trust in Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Their messengers said unto them: We are but mortals like you, but Allah giveth grace unto whom He will of His slaves. It is not ours to bring you a warrant unless by the permission of Allah. In Allah let believers put their trust
Abraham 14:31 Noun
قُل لِّعِبَادِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ یُقِیمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَیُنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقۡنَـٰهُمۡ سِرࣰّا وَعَلَانِیَةࣰ مِّن قَبۡلِ أَن یَأۡتِیَ یَوۡمࣱ لَّا بَیۡعࣱ فِیهِ وَلَا خِلَـٰلٌ ۝٣١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [O Muhammad], tell My servants who have believed to establish prayer and spend from what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, before a Day comes in which there will be no exchange, nor any friendships
Abdel Haleem: Tell My servants who have believed to keep up the prayer and give, secretly and in public, out of what We have provided them, before a Day comes when there will be no trading or friendship
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Tell My bondmen who believe to establish worship and spend of that which We have given them, secretly and publicly, before a day cometh wherein there will be neither traffick nor befriending
The Rock, Stoneland, Rock City 15:40 Noun
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنۡهُمُ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٤٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Except, among them, Your chosen servants."
Abdel Haleem: all except Your devoted servants.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves
The Rock, Stoneland, Rock City 15:42 Noun
إِنَّ عِبَادِی لَیۡسَ لَكَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ سُلۡطَـٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡغَاوِینَ ۝٤٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators
Abdel Haleem: you will have no power over My servants, only over the ones who go astray and follow you
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee

۞ نَبِّئۡ عِبَادِیۤ أَنِّیۤ أَنَا ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٤٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful
Abdel Haleem: [Prophet], tell My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful

The Bee 16:2 Noun
یُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةَ بِٱلرُّوحِ مِنۡ أَمۡرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۤ أَنۡ أَنذِرُوۤا۟ أَنَّهُۥ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّاۤ أَنَا۠ فَٱتَّقُونِ ۝٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He sends down the angels, with the inspiration of His command, upon whom He wills of His servants, [telling them], "Warn that there is no deity except Me; so fear Me."
Abdel Haleem: He sends down angels with inspiration at His command, to whichever of His servants He chooses, to give [His] warning: ‘There is no god but Me, so beware of Me.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He sendeth down the angels with the Spirit of His command unto whom He will of His bondmen, (saying): Warn mankind that there is no Allah save Me, so keep your duty unto Me
The Bee 16:75 Noun
۞ ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا عَبۡدࣰا مَّمۡلُوكࣰا لَّا یَقۡدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَیۡءࣲ وَمَن رَّزَقۡنَـٰهُ مِنَّا رِزۡقًا حَسَنࣰا فَهُوَ یُنفِقُ مِنۡهُ سِرࣰّا وَجَهۡرًاۖ هَلۡ یَسۡتَوُۥنَۚ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِۚ بَلۡ أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٧٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Allah presents an example: a slave [who is] owned and unable to do a thing and he to whom We have provided from Us good provision, so he spends from it secretly and publicly. Can they be equal? Praise to Allah ! But most of them do not know
Abdel Haleem: God presents this illustration: a slave controlled by his master, with no power over anything, and another man We have supplied with good provision, from which he gives alms privately and openly. Can they be considered equal? All praise belongs to God, but most of them do not recognize this
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah coineth a similitude: (on the one hand) a (mere) chattel slave, who hath control of nothing, and (on the other hand) one on whom we have bestowed a fair provision from Us, and he spendeth thereof secretly and openly. Are they equal? Praise be to Allah! But most of them know not
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:1 Noun
۞ سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَسۡرَىٰ بِعَبۡدِهِۦ لَیۡلࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡحَرَامِ إِلَى ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡأَقۡصَا ٱلَّذِی بَـٰرَكۡنَا حَوۡلَهُۥ لِنُرِیَهُۥ مِنۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَاۤۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡبَصِیرُ ۝١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing
Abdel Haleem: Glory to Him who made His servant travel by night from the sacred place of worship to the furthest place of worship, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him some of Our signs: He alone is the All Hearing, the All Seeing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Glorified be He Who carried His servant by night from the Inviolable Place of Worship to the Far distant place of worship the neighbourhood whereof We have blessed, that We might show him of Our tokens! Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Seer
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:17 Noun
وَكَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡقُرُونِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ نُوحࣲۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِۦ خَبِیرَۢا بَصِیرࣰا ۝١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And how many have We destroyed from the generations after Noah. And sufficient is your Lord, concerning the sins of His servants, as Acquainted and Seeing
Abdel Haleem: How many generations We have destroyed since Noah! Your Lord knows and observes the sins of His servants well enough
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: How many generations have We destroyed since Noah! And Allah sufficeth as Knower and Beholder of the sins of His slaves
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:3 Noun
ذُرِّیَّةَ مَنۡ حَمَلۡنَا مَعَ نُوحٍۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَبۡدࣰا شَكُورࣰا ۝٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): O descendants of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah. Indeed, he was a grateful servant
Abdel Haleem: you descendants of those We carried with Noah: he was truly a thankful servant.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (They were) the seed of those whom We carried (in the ship) along with Noah. Lo! he was a grateful slave
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:30 Noun
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ یَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن یَشَاۤءُ وَیَقۡدِرُۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِیرَۢا بَصِیرࣰا ۝٣٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, your Lord extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is ever, concerning His servants, Acquainted and Seeing
Abdel Haleem: Your Lord gives abundantly to whoever He will, and sparingly to whoever He will: He knows and observes His servants thoroughly
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! thy Lord enlargeth the provision for whom He will, and straiteneth (it for whom He will). Lo, He was ever Knower, Seer of His slaves
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:5 Noun
فَإِذَا جَاۤءَ وَعۡدُ أُولَىٰهُمَا بَعَثۡنَا عَلَیۡكُمۡ عِبَادࣰا لَّنَاۤ أُو۟لِی بَأۡسࣲ شَدِیدࣲ فَجَاسُوا۟ خِلَـٰلَ ٱلدِّیَارِۚ وَكَانَ وَعۡدࣰا مَّفۡعُولࣰا ۝٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So when the [time of] promise came for the first of them, We sent against you servants of Ours - those of great military might, and they probed [even] into the homes, and it was a promise fulfilled
Abdel Haleem: When the first of these warnings was fulfilled, We sent against you servants of Ours with great force, and they ravaged your homes. That warning was fulfilled
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: So when the time for the first of the two came, We roused against you slaves of Ours of great might who ravaged (your) country, and it was a threat performed
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:53 Noun
وَقُل لِّعِبَادِی یَقُولُوا۟ ٱلَّتِی هِیَ أَحۡسَنُۚ إِنَّ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنَ یَنزَغُ بَیۡنَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنَ كَانَ لِلۡإِنسَـٰنِ عَدُوࣰّا مُّبِینࣰا ۝٥٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces [dissension] among them. Indeed Satan is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy
Abdel Haleem: [Prophet], tell My servants to say what is best. Satan sows discord among them: Satan is a sworn enemy of man
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Tell My bondmen to speak that which is kindlier. Lo! the devil soweth discord among them. Lo! the devil is for man an open foe
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:65 Noun
إِنَّ عِبَادِی لَیۡسَ لَكَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ سُلۡطَـٰنࣱۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ وَكِیلࣰا ۝٦٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, over My [believing] servants there is for you no authority. And sufficient is your Lord as Disposer of affairs
Abdel Haleem: but you will have no authority over My [true] servants: Your Lord can take care of them well enough.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! My (faithful) bondmen - over them thou hast no power, and thy Lord sufficeth as (their) guardian
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:96 Noun
قُلۡ كَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِیدَۢا بَیۡنِی وَبَیۡنَكُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِیرَۢا بَصِیرࣰا ۝٩٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "Sufficient is Allah as Witness between me and you. Indeed he is ever, concerning His servants, Acquainted and Seeing."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘God is witness enough between me and you. He knows and observes His servants well.’

The Cave 18:1 Noun
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنزَلَ عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَلَمۡ یَجۡعَل لَّهُۥ عِوَجَاۜ ۝١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [All] praise is [due] to Allah , who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance
Abdel Haleem: Praise be to God, who sent down the Scripture to His servant and made it unerringly straight
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave, and hath not placed therein any crookedness
The Cave 18:102 Noun
أَفَحَسِبَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوۤا۟ أَن یَتَّخِذُوا۟ عِبَادِی مِن دُونِیۤ أَوۡلِیَاۤءَۚ إِنَّاۤ أَعۡتَدۡنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ نُزُلࣰا ۝١٠٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then do those who disbelieve think that they can take My servants instead of Me as allies? Indeed, We have prepared Hell for the disbelievers as a lodging
Abdel Haleem: Did they think that they could take My servants as masters instead of Me? We have prepared Hell as the disbelievers’ resting place
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Do the disbelievers reckon that they can choose My bondmen as protecting friends beside Me? Lo! We have prepared hell as a welcome for the disbelievers
The Cave 18:110 Noun
قُلۡ إِنَّمَاۤ أَنَا۠ بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ یُوحَىٰۤ إِلَیَّ أَنَّمَاۤ إِلَـٰهُكُمۡ إِلَـٰهࣱ وَ ٰحِدࣱۖ فَمَن كَانَ یَرۡجُوا۟ لِقَاۤءَ رَبِّهِۦ فَلۡیَعۡمَلۡ عَمَلࣰا صَـٰلِحࣰا وَلَا یُشۡرِكۡ بِعِبَادَةِ رَبِّهِۦۤ أَحَدَۢا ۝١١٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "I am only a man like you, to whom has been revealed that your god is one God. So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘I am only a human being, like you, to whom it has been revealed that your God is One. Anyone who fears to meet his Lord should do good deeds and give no one a share in the worship due to his Lord
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: I am only a mortal like you. My Lord inspireth in me that your Allah is only One Allah. And whoever hopeth for the meeting with his Lord, let him do righteous work, and make none sharer of the worship due unto his Lord
The Cave 18:65 Noun
فَوَجَدَا عَبۡدࣰا مِّنۡ عِبَادِنَاۤ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُ رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّنۡ عِندِنَا وَعَلَّمۡنَـٰهُ مِن لَّدُنَّا عِلۡمࣰا ۝٦٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they found a servant from among Our servants to whom we had given mercy from us and had taught him from Us a [certain] knowledge
Abdel Haleem: and found one of Our servants- a man to whom We had granted Our mercy and whom We had given knowledge of Our own
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then found they one of Our slaves, unto whom We had given mercy from Us, and had taught him knowledge from Our presence
Mary 19:2 Noun
ذِكۡرُ رَحۡمَتِ رَبِّكَ عَبۡدَهُۥ زَكَرِیَّاۤ ۝٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [This is] a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zecharia
Abdel Haleem: This is an account of your Lord’s grace towards His servant, Zachariah
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: A mention of the mercy of thy Lord unto His servant Zachariah
Mary 19:30 Noun
قَالَ إِنِّی عَبۡدُ ٱللَّهِ ءَاتَىٰنِیَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَجَعَلَنِی نَبِیࣰّا ۝٣٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah . He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet
Abdel Haleem: [But] he said: ‘I am a servant of God. He has granted me the Scripture; made me a prophet
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He spake: Lo! I am the slave of Allah. He hath given me the Scripture and hath appointed me a Prophet
Mary 19:61 Noun
جَنَّـٰتِ عَدۡنٍ ٱلَّتِی وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ عِبَادَهُۥ بِٱلۡغَیۡبِۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ وَعۡدُهُۥ مَأۡتِیࣰّا ۝٦١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Therein are] gardens of perpetual residence which the Most Merciful has promised His servants in the unseen. Indeed, His promise has ever been coming
Abdel Haleem: they will enter the Gardens of Lasting Bliss, promised by the Lord of Mercy to His servants- it is not yet seen but truly His promise will be fulfilled
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Gardens of Eden, which the Beneficent hath promised to His slaves in the unseen. Lo! His promise is ever sure of fulfilment
Mary 19:63 Noun
تِلۡكَ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ ٱلَّتِی نُورِثُ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا مَن كَانَ تَقِیࣰّا ۝٦٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): That is Paradise, which We give as inheritance to those of Our servants who were fearing of Allah
Abdel Haleem: That is the Garden We shall give as their own to those of Our servants who were devout
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Such is the Garden which We cause the devout among Our bondmen to inherit
Mary 19:65 Noun
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَا فَٱعۡبُدۡهُ وَٱصۡطَبِرۡ لِعِبَـٰدَتِهِۦۚ هَلۡ تَعۡلَمُ لَهُۥ سَمِیࣰّا ۝٦٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them - so worship Him and have patience for His worship. Do you know of any similarity to Him?"
Abdel Haleem: He is Lord of the heavens and earth and everything in between so worship Him: be steadfast in worshipping Him. Do you know of anyone equal to Him?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them! Therefor, worship thou Him and be thou steadfast in His service. Knowest thou one that can be named along with Him
Mary 19:82 Noun
كَلَّاۚ سَیَكۡفُرُونَ بِعِبَادَتِهِمۡ وَیَكُونُونَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ضِدًّا ۝٨٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): No! Those "gods" will deny their worship of them and will be against them opponents [on the Day of Judgement]
Abdel Haleem: but these gods will reject their worship and will even turn against them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Nay, but they will deny their worship of them, and become opponents unto them
Mary 19:93 Noun
إِن كُلُّ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّاۤ ءَاتِی ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ عَبۡدࣰا ۝٩٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant
Abdel Haleem: there is no one in the heavens or earth who will not come to the Lord of Mercy as a servant
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: There is none in the heavens and the earth but cometh unto the Beneficent as a slave
Ta Ha 20:77 Noun
وَلَقَدۡ أَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنۡ أَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِی فَٱضۡرِبۡ لَهُمۡ طَرِیقࣰا فِی ٱلۡبَحۡرِ یَبَسࣰا لَّا تَخَـٰفُ دَرَكࣰا وَلَا تَخۡشَىٰ ۝٧٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We had inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants and strike for them a dry path through the sea; you will not fear being overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor be afraid [of drowning]."
Abdel Haleem: We revealed to Moses, ‘Go out at night with My servants and strike a dry path for them across the sea. Have no fear of being overtaken and do not be dismayed.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And verily We inspired Moses, saying: Take away My slaves by night and strike for them a dry path in the sea, fearing not to be overtaken, neither being afraid (of the sea)
The Prophets 21:105 Noun
وَلَقَدۡ كَتَبۡنَا فِی ٱلزَّبُورِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ٱلذِّكۡرِ أَنَّ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ یَرِثُهَا عِبَادِیَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ ۝١٠٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We have already written in the book [of Psalms] after the [previous] mention that the land [of Paradise] is inherited by My righteous servants
Abdel Haleem: We wrote in the Psalms, as We did in [earlier] Scripture: ‘My righteous servants will inherit the earth.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And verily we have written in the Scripture, after the Reminder: My righteous slaves will inherit the earth
The Prophets 21:106 Noun
إِنَّ فِی هَـٰذَا لَبَلَـٰغࣰا لِّقَوۡمٍ عَـٰبِدِینَ ۝١٠٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, in this [Qur'an] is notification for a worshipping people
Abdel Haleem: There truly is a message in this for the servants of God
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! there is a plain statement for folk who are devout
The Prophets 21:19 Noun
وَلَهُۥ مَن فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَنۡ عِندَهُۥ لَا یَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَلَا یَسۡتَحۡسِرُونَ ۝١٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): To Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those near Him are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, nor do they tire
Abdel Haleem: Everyone in the heavens and earth belongs to Him, and those that are with Him are never too proud to worship Him, nor do they grow weary
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Unto Him belongeth whosoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those who dwell in His presence are not too proud to worship Him, nor do they weary
The Prophets 21:26 Noun
وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ وَلَدࣰاۗ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥۚ بَلۡ عِبَادࣱ مُّكۡرَمُونَ ۝٢٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, they are [but] honored servants
Abdel Haleem: And they say, ‘The Lord of Mercy has taken offspring for Himself.’ May He be exalted! No! They are only His honoured servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they say: The Beneficent hath taken unto Himself a son. Be He Glorified! Nay, but (those whom they call sons) are honoured slaves
The Prophets 21:53 Noun
قَالُوا۟ وَجَدۡنَاۤ ءَابَاۤءَنَا لَهَا عَـٰبِدِینَ ۝٥٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them."
Abdel Haleem: They replied, ‘We found our fathers worshipping them.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them
The Prophets 21:73 Noun
وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ أَىِٕمَّةࣰ یَهۡدُونَ بِأَمۡرِنَا وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِمۡ فِعۡلَ ٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِ وَإِقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَإِیتَاۤءَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةِۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا عَـٰبِدِینَ ۝٧٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us
Abdel Haleem: We made all of them leaders, guiding others by Our command, and We inspired them to do good works, to keep up the prayer, and to give alms: they were Our true worshippers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone)
The Prophets 21:84 Noun
فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ فَكَشَفۡنَا مَا بِهِۦ مِن ضُرࣲّۖ وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُ أَهۡلَهُۥ وَمِثۡلَهُم مَّعَهُمۡ رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّنۡ عِندِنَا وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِلۡعَـٰبِدِینَ ۝٨٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allah ]
Abdel Haleem: We answered him, removed his suffering, and restored his family to him, along with more like them, as an act of grace from Us and a reminder for all who serve Us
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then We heard his prayer and removed that adversity from which he suffered, and We gave him his household (that he had lost) and the like thereof along with them, a mercy from Our store, and a remembrance for the worshippers
The Pilgrimage 22:10 Noun
ذَ ٰلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ یَدَاكَ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَیۡسَ بِظَلَّـٰمࣲ لِّلۡعَبِیدِ ۝١٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): "That is for what your hands have put forth and because Allah is not ever unjust to [His] servants."
Abdel Haleem: [It will be said], ‘This is for what you have stored up with your own hands: God is never unjust to His creatures.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (And unto him it will be said): This is for that which thy two hands have sent before, and because Allah is no oppressor of His slaves
The Believers 23:109 Noun
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَرِیقࣱ مِّنۡ عِبَادِی یَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَاۤ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَا وَٱرۡحَمۡنَا وَأَنتَ خَیۡرُ ٱلرَّ ٰحِمِینَ ۝١٠٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, there was a party of My servants who said, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful.
Abdel Haleem: Among My servants there were those who said, “Lord, We believe. Forgive us and have mercy on us: You are the most merciful of all.”
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! there was a party of My slaves who said: Our Lord! We believe, therefor forgive us and have mercy on us for Thou art Best of all who show mercy
The Believers 23:47 Noun
فَقَالُوۤا۟ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لِبَشَرَیۡنِ مِثۡلِنَا وَقَوۡمُهُمَا لَنَا عَـٰبِدُونَ ۝٤٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?"
Abdel Haleem: They said, ‘Are we to believe in two mortals like us? And their people are our servants?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us
The Light 24:32 Noun
وَأَنكِحُوا۟ ٱلۡأَیَـٰمَىٰ مِنكُمۡ وَٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ مِنۡ عِبَادِكُمۡ وَإِمَاۤىِٕكُمۡۚ إِن یَكُونُوا۟ فُقَرَاۤءَ یُغۡنِهِمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦۗ وَٱللَّهُ وَ ٰسِعٌ عَلِیمࣱ ۝٣٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing
Abdel Haleem: Marry off the single among you and those of your male and female slaves who are fit [for marriage]. If they are poor, God will provide for them from His bounty: God’s bounty is infinite and He is all knowing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And marry such of you as are solitary and the pious of your slaves and maid-servants. If they be poor, Allah will enrich them of His bounty. Allah is of ample means, Aware
The Criterion, The Standard 25:1 Noun
۞ تَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِی نَزَّلَ ٱلۡفُرۡقَانَ عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِۦ لِیَكُونَ لِلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ نَذِیرًا ۝١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant that he may be to the worlds a warner
Abdel Haleem: Exalted is He who has sent the Differentiator down to His servant so that it may be a warning to all people
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Blessed is He Who hath revealed unto His slave the Criterion (of right and wrong), that he may be a warner to the peoples
The Criterion, The Standard 25:17 Noun
وَیَوۡمَ یَحۡشُرُهُمۡ وَمَا یَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَیَقُولُ ءَأَنتُمۡ أَضۡلَلۡتُمۡ عِبَادِی هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ أَمۡ هُمۡ ضَلُّوا۟ ٱلسَّبِیلَ ۝١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [mention] the Day He will gather them and that which they worship besides Allah and will say, "Did you mislead these, My servants, or did they [themselves] stray from the way?"
Abdel Haleem: On the Day He gathers them all together with those they worship beside Him, He will say, ‘Was it you [false gods] who led these creatures of Mine astray, or did they stray from the path by themselves?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And on the day when He will assemble them and that which they worship instead of Allah and will say: Was it ye who misled these my slaves or did they (themselves) wander from the way
The Criterion, The Standard 25:58 Noun
وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱلۡحَیِّ ٱلَّذِی لَا یَمُوتُ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِهِۦۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِهِۦ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِۦ خَبِیرًا ۝٥٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And rely upon the Ever-Living who does not die, and exalt [ Allah ] with His praise. And sufficient is He to be, with the sins of His servants, Acquainted
Abdel Haleem: Put your trust in the Living [God] who never dies, and celebrate His praise. He knows the sins of His servants well enough
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And trust thou in the Living One Who dieth not, and hymn His praise. He sufficeth as the Knower of His bondmen's sins
The Criterion, The Standard 25:63 Noun
وَعِبَادُ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلَّذِینَ یَمۡشُونَ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ هَوۡنࣰا وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلُونَ قَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمࣰا ۝٦٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace
Abdel Haleem: The servants of the Lord of Mercy are those who walk humbly on the earth, and who, when the foolish address them, reply, ‘Peace’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The (faithful) slaves of the Beneficent are they who walk upon the earth modestly, and when the foolish ones address them answer: Peace
The Poets 26:52 Noun
۞ وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنۡ أَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِیۤ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ ۝٥٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."
Abdel Haleem: Then We revealed Our will to Moses, ‘Leave with My servants by night, for you will be pursued!’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We inspired Moses, saying: Take away My slaves by night, for ye will be pursued
The Ant, The Ants 27:15 Noun
وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَا دَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَیۡمَـٰنَ عِلۡمࣰاۖ وَقَالَا ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِی فَضَّلَنَا عَلَىٰ كَثِیرࣲ مِّنۡ عِبَادِهِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We had certainly given to David and Solomon knowledge, and they said, "Praise [is due] to Allah , who has favored us over many of His believing servants."
Abdel Haleem: We gave knowledge to David and Solomon, and they both said, ‘Praise be to God, who has favoured us over many of His believing servants.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We verily gave knowledge unto David and Solomon, and they said: Praise be to Allah, Who hath preferred us above many of His believing slaves
The Ant, The Ants 27:19 Noun
فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكࣰا مِّن قَوۡلِهَا وَقَالَ رَبِّ أَوۡزِعۡنِیۤ أَنۡ أَشۡكُرَ نِعۡمَتَكَ ٱلَّتِیۤ أَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَیَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَ ٰلِدَیَّ وَأَنۡ أَعۡمَلَ صَـٰلِحࣰا تَرۡضَىٰهُ وَأَدۡخِلۡنِی بِرَحۡمَتِكَ فِی عِبَادِكَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ ۝١٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So [Solomon] smiled, amused at her speech, and said, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants."
Abdel Haleem: Solomon smiled broadly at her words and said, ‘Lord, inspire me to be thankful for the blessings You have granted me and my parents, and to do good deeds that please You; admit me by Your grace into the ranks of Your righteous servants.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And (Solomon) smiled, laughing at her speech, and said: My Lord, arouse me to be thankful for Thy favour wherewith Thou hast favoured me and my parents, and to do good that shall be pleasing unto Thee, and include me in (the number of) Thy righteous slaves
The Ant, The Ants 27:59 Noun
قُلِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱصۡطَفَىٰۤۗ ءَاۤللَّهُ خَیۡرٌ أَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٥٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, [O Muhammad], "Praise be to Allah , and peace upon His servants whom He has chosen. Is Allah better or what they associate with Him?"
Abdel Haleem: Say [Prophet], ‘Praise be to God and peace on the servants He has chosen. Who is better: God, or those they set up as partners with Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say (O Muhammad): Praise be to Allah, and peace be on His slaves whom He hath chosen! Is Allah best, or (all) that ye ascribe as partners (unto Him)
The Story, Stories, The Narrative 28:82 Noun
وَأَصۡبَحَ ٱلَّذِینَ تَمَنَّوۡا۟ مَكَانَهُۥ بِٱلۡأَمۡسِ یَقُولُونَ وَیۡكَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَیَقۡدِرُۖ لَوۡلَاۤ أَن مَّنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیۡنَا لَخَسَفَ بِنَاۖ وَیۡكَأَنَّهُۥ لَا یُفۡلِحُ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ ۝٨٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And those who had wished for his position the previous day began to say, "Oh, how Allah extends provision to whom He wills of His servants and restricts it! If not that Allah had conferred favor on us, He would have caused it to swallow us. Oh, how the disbelievers do not succeed!"
Abdel Haleem: The next day, those who had, the day before, wished to be in his place exclaimed, ‘Alas [for you, Qarun]! It is God alone who gives what He will, abundantly or sparingly, to whichever He will of His creatures: if God had not been gracious to us, He would have caused the earth to swallow us too.’ Alas indeed! Those who deny the truth will never prosper
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And morning found those who had coveted his place but yesterday crying: Ah, welladay! Allah enlargeth the provision for whom He will of His slaves and straiteneth it (for whom He will). If Allah had not been gracious unto us He would have caused it to swallow us (also). Ah, welladay! the disbelievers never prosper
The Spider 29:56 Noun
یَـٰعِبَادِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ إِنَّ أَرۡضِی وَ ٰسِعَةࣱ فَإِیَّـٰیَ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ ۝٥٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious, so worship only Me
Abdel Haleem: My believing servants! My earth is vast, so worship Me and Me alone
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: O my bondmen who believe! Lo! My earth is spacious. Therefor serve Me only
The Spider 29:62 Noun
ٱللَّهُ یَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَیَقۡدِرُ لَهُۥۤۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عَلِیمࣱ ۝٦٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Allah extends provision for whom He wills of His servants and restricts for him. Indeed Allah is, of all things, Knowing
Abdel Haleem: It is God who gives abundantly to whichever of His servants He will, and sparingly to whichever He will: He has full knowledge of everything
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah maketh the provision wide for whom He will of His bondmen, and straiteneth it for whom (He will). Lo! Allah is Aware of all things
The Cow 2:138 Noun
صِبۡغَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَنۡ أَحۡسَنُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ صِبۡغَةࣰۖ وَنَحۡنُ لَهُۥ عَـٰبِدُونَ ۝١٣٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [And say, "Ours is] the religion of Allah . And who is better than Allah in [ordaining] religion? And we are worshippers of Him."
Abdel Haleem: ‘[Our life] takes its colour from God, and who gives a better colour than God? It is Him we worship.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (We take our) colour from Allah, and who is better than Allah at colouring. We are His worshippers
The Cow 2:178 Noun
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُتِبَ عَلَیۡكُمُ ٱلۡقِصَاصُ فِی ٱلۡقَتۡلَىۖ ٱلۡحُرُّ بِٱلۡحُرِّ وَٱلۡعَبۡدُ بِٱلۡعَبۡدِ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰ بِٱلۡأُنثَىٰۚ فَمَنۡ عُفِیَ لَهُۥ مِنۡ أَخِیهِ شَیۡءࣱ فَٱتِّبَاعُۢ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَأَدَاۤءٌ إِلَیۡهِ بِإِحۡسَـٰنࣲۗ ذَ ٰلِكَ تَخۡفِیفࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَرَحۡمَةࣱۗ فَمَنِ ٱعۡتَدَىٰ بَعۡدَ ذَ ٰلِكَ فَلَهُۥ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝١٧٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): O you who have believed, prescribed for you is legal retribution for those murdered - the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But whoever overlooks from his brother anything, then there should be a suitable follow-up and payment to him with good conduct. This is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy. But whoever transgresses after that will have a painful punishment
Abdel Haleem: You who believe, fair retribution is prescribed for you in cases of murder: the free man for the free man, the slave for the slave, the female for the female. But if the culprit is pardoned by his aggrieved brother, this shall be adhered to fairly, and the culprit shall pay what is due in a good way. This is an alleviation from your Lord and an act of mercy. If anyone then exceeds these limits, grievous suffering awaits him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: O ye who believe! Retaliation is prescribed for you in the matter of the murdered; the freeman for the freeman, and the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. And for him who is forgiven somewhat by his (injured) brother, prosecution according to usage and payment unto him in kindness. This is an alleviation and a mercy from your Lord. He who transgresseth after this will have a painful doom
The Cow 2:186 Noun
وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِی عَنِّی فَإِنِّی قَرِیبٌۖ أُجِیبُ دَعۡوَةَ ٱلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِۖ فَلۡیَسۡتَجِیبُوا۟ لِی وَلۡیُؤۡمِنُوا۟ بِی لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَرۡشُدُونَ ۝١٨٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided
Abdel Haleem: [Prophet], if My servants ask you about Me, I am near. I respond to those who call Me, so let them respond to Me, and believe in Me, so that they may be guided
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when My servants question thee concerning Me, then surely I am nigh. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he crieth unto Me. So let them hear My call and let them trust in Me, in order that they may be led aright
The Cow 2:207 Noun
وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن یَشۡرِی نَفۡسَهُ ٱبۡتِغَاۤءَ مَرۡضَاتِ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ رَءُوفُۢ بِٱلۡعِبَادِ ۝٢٠٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And of the people is he who sells himself, seeking means to the approval of Allah . And Allah is kind to [His] servants
Abdel Haleem: But there is also a kind of man who gives his life away to please God, and God is most compassionate to His servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And of mankind is he who would sell himself, seeking the pleasure of Allah; and Allah hath compassion on (His) bondmen
The Cow 2:221 Noun
وَلَا تَنكِحُوا۟ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكَـٰتِ حَتَّىٰ یُؤۡمِنَّۚ وَلَأَمَةࣱ مُّؤۡمِنَةٌ خَیۡرࣱ مِّن مُّشۡرِكَةࣲ وَلَوۡ أَعۡجَبَتۡكُمۡۗ وَلَا تُنكِحُوا۟ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ حَتَّىٰ یُؤۡمِنُوا۟ۚ وَلَعَبۡدࣱ مُّؤۡمِنٌ خَیۡرࣱ مِّن مُّشۡرِكࣲ وَلَوۡ أَعۡجَبَكُمۡۗ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ یَدۡعُونَ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِۖ وَٱللَّهُ یَدۡعُوۤا۟ إِلَى ٱلۡجَنَّةِ وَٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِ بِإِذۡنِهِۦۖ وَیُبَیِّنُ ءَایَـٰتِهِۦ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَتَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٢٢١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And do not marry polytheistic women until they believe. And a believing slave woman is better than a polytheist, even though she might please you. And do not marry polytheistic men [to your women] until they believe. And a believing slave is better than a polytheist, even though he might please you. Those invite [you] to the Fire, but Allah invites to Paradise and to forgiveness, by His permission. And He makes clear His verses to the people that perhaps they may remember
Abdel Haleem: Do not marry idolatresses until they believe: a believing slave woman is certainly better than an idolatress, even though she may please you. And do not give your women in marriage to idolaters until they believe: a believing slave is certainly better than an idolater, even though he may please you. Such people call [you] to the Fire, while God calls [you] to the Garden and forgiveness by His leave. He makes His messages clear to people, so that they may bear them in mind
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Wed not idolatresses till they believe; for lo! a believing bondwoman is better than an idolatress though she please you; and give not your daughters in marriage to idolaters till they believe, for lo! a believing slave is better than an idolater though he please you. These invite unto the Fire, and Allah inviteth unto the Garden, and unto forgiveness by His grace, and expoundeth His revelations to mankind that haply they may remember
The Cow 2:23 Noun
وَإِن كُنتُمۡ فِی رَیۡبࣲ مِّمَّا نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِنَا فَأۡتُوا۟ بِسُورَةࣲ مِّن مِّثۡلِهِۦ وَٱدۡعُوا۟ شُهَدَاۤءَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah , if you should be truthful
Abdel Haleem: If you have doubts about the revelation We have sent down to Our servant, then produce a single sura like it- enlist whatever supporters you have other than God- if you truly [think you can]
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And if ye are in doubt concerning that which We reveal unto Our slave (Muhammad), then produce a surah of the like thereof, and call your witness beside Allah if ye are truthful
The Cow 2:90 Noun
بِئۡسَمَا ٱشۡتَرَوۡا۟ بِهِۦۤ أَنفُسَهُمۡ أَن یَكۡفُرُوا۟ بِمَاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بَغۡیًا أَن یُنَزِّلَ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۖ فَبَاۤءُو بِغَضَبٍ عَلَىٰ غَضَبࣲۚ وَلِلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ عَذَابࣱ مُّهِینࣱ ۝٩٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): How wretched is that for which they sold themselves - that they would disbelieve in what Allah has revealed through [their] outrage that Allah would send down His favor upon whom He wills from among His servants. So they returned having [earned] wrath upon wrath. And for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment
Abdel Haleem: Low indeed is the price for which they have sold their souls by denying the God-sent truth, out of envy that God should send His bounty to any of His servants He pleases. The disbelievers have ended up with wrath upon wrath, and a humiliating torment awaits them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Evil is that for which they sell their souls: that they should disbelieve in that which Allah hath revealed, grudging that Allah should reveal of His bounty unto whom He will of His slaves. They have incurred anger upon anger. For disbelievers is a shameful doom
The Romans, The Byzantines 30:48 Noun
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِی یُرۡسِلُ ٱلرِّیَـٰحَ فَتُثِیرُ سَحَابࣰا فَیَبۡسُطُهُۥ فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ كَیۡفَ یَشَاۤءُ وَیَجۡعَلُهُۥ كِسَفࣰا فَتَرَى ٱلۡوَدۡقَ یَخۡرُجُ مِنۡ خِلَـٰلِهِۦۖ فَإِذَاۤ أَصَابَ بِهِۦ مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۤ إِذَا هُمۡ یَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ ۝٤٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): It is Allah who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds and spread them in the sky however He wills, and He makes them fragments so you see the rain emerge from within them. And when He causes it to fall upon whom He wills of His servants, immediately they rejoic
Abdel Haleem: It is God who sends out the winds; they stir up the clouds; He spreads them over the skies as He pleases; He makes them break up and you see the rain falling from them. See how they rejoice when He makes it fall upon whichever of His servants He wishes
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah is He Who sendeth the winds so that they raise clouds, and spreadeth them along the sky as pleaseth Him, and causeth them to break and thou seest the rain downpouring from within them. And when He maketh it to fall on whom He will of His bondmen, lo! they rejoice
Saba, Sheba 34:13 Noun
یَعۡمَلُونَ لَهُۥ مَا یَشَاۤءُ مِن مَّحَـٰرِیبَ وَتَمَـٰثِیلَ وَجِفَانࣲ كَٱلۡجَوَابِ وَقُدُورࣲ رَّاسِیَـٰتٍۚ ٱعۡمَلُوۤا۟ ءَالَ دَاوُۥدَ شُكۡرࣰاۚ وَقَلِیلࣱ مِّنۡ عِبَادِیَ ٱلشَّكُورُ ۝١٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They made for him what he willed of elevated chambers, statues, bowls like reservoirs, and stationary kettles. [We said], "Work, O family of David, in gratitude." And few of My servants are grateful
Abdel Haleem: They made him whatever he wanted- palaces, statues, basins as large as water troughs, fixed cauldrons. We said, ‘Work thankfully, family of David, for few of my servants are truly thankful.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They made for him what he willed: synagogues and statues, basins like wells and boilers built into the ground. Give thanks, O House of David! Few of My bondmen are thankful
Saba, Sheba 34:39 Noun
قُلۡ إِنَّ رَبِّی یَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَیَقۡدِرُ لَهُۥۚ وَمَاۤ أَنفَقۡتُم مِّن شَیۡءࣲ فَهُوَ یُخۡلِفُهُۥۖ وَهُوَ خَیۡرُ ٱلرَّ ٰزِقِینَ ۝٣٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills of His servants and restricts [it] for him. But whatever thing you spend [in His cause] - He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘My Lord gives in abundance to whichever of His servants He will, and sparingly to whichever He will; He will replace whatever you give in alms; He is the best of providers.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: Lo! my Lord enlargeth the provision for whom He will of His bondmen, and narroweth (it) for him. And whatsoever ye spend (for good) He replaceth it. And He is the Best of Providers
Saba, Sheba 34:9 Noun
أَفَلَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا بَیۡنَ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ إِن نَّشَأۡ نَخۡسِفۡ بِهِمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ أَوۡ نُسۡقِطۡ عَلَیۡهِمۡ كِسَفࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَةࣰ لِّكُلِّ عَبۡدࣲ مُّنِیبࣲ ۝٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then, do they not look at what is before them and what is behind them of the heaven and earth? If We should will, We could cause the earth to swallow them or [could] let fall upon them fragments from the sky. Indeed in that is a sign for every servant turning back [to Allah ]
Abdel Haleem: Do they not think about what is in front of them and behind them in the heavens and earth? If We wished, We could make the earth swallow them, or make fragments from the heavens fall down upon them. There truly is a sign in this for every servant who turns back to God in repentance
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Have they not observed what is before them and what is behind them of the sky and the earth? If We will, We can make the earth swallow them, or cause obliteration from the sky to fall on them. Lo! herein surely is a portent for every slave who turneth (to Allah) repentant
The Angels, Originator, The Creator 35:28 Noun
وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَٱلدَّوَاۤبِّ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَـٰمِ مُخۡتَلِفٌ أَلۡوَ ٰنُهُۥ كَذَ ٰلِكَۗ إِنَّمَا یَخۡشَى ٱللَّهَ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِ ٱلۡعُلَمَـٰۤؤُا۟ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِیزٌ غَفُورٌ ۝٢٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And among people and moving creatures and grazing livestock are various colors similarly. Only those fear Allah , from among His servants, who have knowledge. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Forgiving
Abdel Haleem: that there are various colours among human beings, wild animals, and livestock too? It is those of His servants who have knowledge who stand in true awe of God. God is almighty, most forgiving
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And of men and beasts and cattle, in like manner, divers hues? The erudite among His bondmen fear Allah alone. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Forgiving
The Angels, Originator, The Creator 35:31 Noun
وَٱلَّذِیۤ أَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكَ مِنَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ مُصَدِّقࣰا لِّمَا بَیۡنَ یَدَیۡهِۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ لَخَبِیرُۢ بَصِیرࣱ ۝٣١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And that which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], of the Book is the truth, confirming what was before it. Indeed, Allah , of His servants, is Acquainted and Seeing
Abdel Haleem: The Scripture We have revealed to you [Prophet] is the Truth and confirms the scriptures that preceded it. God is well informed about His servants, He sees everything
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: As for that which We inspire in thee of the Scripture, it is the Truth confirming that which was (revealed) before it. Lo! Allah is indeed Observer, Seer of His slaves
The Angels, Originator, The Creator 35:32 Noun
ثُمَّ أَوۡرَثۡنَا ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱصۡطَفَیۡنَا مِنۡ عِبَادِنَاۖ فَمِنۡهُمۡ ظَالِمࣱ لِّنَفۡسِهِۦ وَمِنۡهُم مُّقۡتَصِدࣱ وَمِنۡهُمۡ سَابِقُۢ بِٱلۡخَیۡرَ ٰتِ بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَضۡلُ ٱلۡكَبِیرُ ۝٣٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then we caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants; and among them is he who wrongs himself, and among them is he who is moderate, and among them is he who is foremost in good deeds by permission of Allah . That [inheritance] is what is the great bounty
Abdel Haleem: We gave the Scripture as a heritage to Our chosen servants: some of them wronged their own souls, some stayed between [right and wrong], and some, by God’s leave, were foremost in good deeds. That is the greatest favour
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then We gave the Scripture as inheritance unto those whom We elected of Our bondmen. But of them are some who wrong themselves and of them are some who are lukewarm, and of them are some who outstrip (others) through good deeds, by Allah's leave. That is the great favour
The Angels, Originator, The Creator 35:45 Noun
وَلَوۡ یُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ مَا تَرَكَ عَلَىٰ ظَهۡرِهَا مِن دَاۤبَّةࣲ وَلَـٰكِن یُؤَخِّرُهُمۡ إِلَىٰۤ أَجَلࣲ مُّسَمࣰّىۖ فَإِذَا جَاۤءَ أَجَلُهُمۡ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ بَصِیرَۢا ۝٤٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And if Allah were to impose blame on the people for what they have earned, He would not leave upon the earth any creature. But He defers them for a specified term. And when their time comes, then indeed Allah has ever been, of His servants, Seeing
Abdel Haleem: If God were to punish people [at once] for the wrong they have done, there would not be a single creature left on the surface of the earth. He gives them respite for a stated time and, whenever their time comes, God has been watching His servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: If Allah took mankind to task by that which they deserve, He would not leave a living creature on the surface of the earth; but He reprieveth them unto an appointed term, and when their term cometh - then verily (they will know that) Allah is ever Seer of His slaves
Ya Sin, Ya-Seen 36:30 Noun
یَـٰحَسۡرَةً عَلَى ٱلۡعِبَادِۚ مَا یَأۡتِیهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ۝٣٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): How regretful for the servants. There did not come to them any messenger except that they used to ridicule him
Abdel Haleem: Alas for human beings! Whenever a messenger comes to them they ridicule him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Ah, the anguish for the bondmen! Never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:111 Noun
إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١١١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, he was of Our believing servants
Abdel Haleem: truly he was one of Our faithful servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:122 Noun
إِنَّهُمَا مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٢٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, they were of Our believing servants
Abdel Haleem: truly they were among Our faithful servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! they are two of Our believing slaves
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:128 Noun
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝١٢٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Except the chosen servants of Allah
Abdel Haleem: not so the true servants of God
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Save single-minded slaves of Allah
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:132 Noun
إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٣٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, he was of Our believing servants
Abdel Haleem: truly he was one of Our faithful servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! he is one of our believing slaves
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:160 Noun
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝١٦٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]
Abdel Haleem: the true servants of God do not do such things
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Save single-minded slaves of Allah
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:169 Noun
لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝١٦٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): We would have been the chosen servants of Allah ."
Abdel Haleem: we would be true servants of God,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: We would be single-minded slaves of Allah
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:171 Noun
وَلَقَدۡ سَبَقَتۡ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ ۝١٧١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers
Abdel Haleem: Our word has already been given to Our servants the messengers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:40 Noun
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٤٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But not the chosen servants of Allah
Abdel Haleem: Not so God’s true servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Save single-minded slaves of Allah
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:74 Noun
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٧٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But not the chosen servants of Allah
Abdel Haleem: Not so the true servants of God
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Save single-minded slaves of Allah
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:81 Noun
إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, he was of Our believing servants
Abdel Haleem: he was truly one of Our faithful servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves
The Letter Sad 38:17 Noun
ٱصۡبِرۡ عَلَىٰ مَا یَقُولُونَ وَٱذۡكُرۡ عَبۡدَنَا دَاوُۥدَ ذَا ٱلۡأَیۡدِۖ إِنَّهُۥۤ أَوَّابٌ ۝١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Be patient over what they say and remember Our servant, David, the possessor of strength; indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned back [to Allah ]
Abdel Haleem: Bear their words patiently [Prophet]. Remember Our servant David, a man of strength who always turned to Us
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Bear with what they say, and remember Our bondman David, lord of might, Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah)
The Letter Sad 38:30 Noun
وَوَهَبۡنَا لِدَاوُۥدَ سُلَیۡمَـٰنَۚ نِعۡمَ ٱلۡعَبۡدُ إِنَّهُۥۤ أَوَّابٌ ۝٣٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And to David We gave Solomon. An excellent servant, indeed he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allah ]
Abdel Haleem: We gave David Solomon. He was an excellent servant who always turned to God
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah)
The Letter Sad 38:41 Noun
وَٱذۡكُرۡ عَبۡدَنَاۤ أَیُّوبَ إِذۡ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥۤ أَنِّی مَسَّنِیَ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ بِنُصۡبࣲ وَعَذَابٍ ۝٤١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And remember Our servant Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment."
Abdel Haleem: Bring to mind Our servant Job who cried to his Lord, ‘Satan has afflicted me with weariness and suffering.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And make mention (O Muhammad) of Our bondman Job, when he cried unto his Lord (saying): Lo! the devil doth afflict me with distress and torment
The Letter Sad 38:44 Noun
وَخُذۡ بِیَدِكَ ضِغۡثࣰا فَٱضۡرِب بِّهِۦ وَلَا تَحۡنَثۡۗ إِنَّا وَجَدۡنَـٰهُ صَابِرࣰاۚ نِّعۡمَ ٱلۡعَبۡدُ إِنَّهُۥۤ أَوَّابࣱ ۝٤٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [We said], "And take in your hand a bunch [of grass] and strike with it and do not break your oath." Indeed, We found him patient, an excellent servant. Indeed, he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allah ]
Abdel Haleem: ‘Take a small bunch of grass in your hand, and strike [her] with that so as not to break your oath.’ We found him patient in adversity; an excellent servant! He, too, always turned to God
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And (it was said unto him): Take in thine hand a branch and smite therewith, and break not thine oath. Lo! We found him steadfast, how excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (to his Lord)
The Letter Sad 38:45 Noun
وَٱذۡكُرۡ عِبَـٰدَنَاۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ وَإِسۡحَـٰقَ وَیَعۡقُوبَ أُو۟لِی ٱلۡأَیۡدِی وَٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرِ ۝٤٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And remember Our servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - those of strength and [religious] vision
Abdel Haleem: Remember Our servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, all men of strength and vision
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And make mention of Our bondmen, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of parts and vision
The Letter Sad 38:83 Noun
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنۡهُمُ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ ۝٨٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Except, among them, Your chosen servants."
Abdel Haleem: but Your true servants.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Save Thy single-minded slaves among them
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:10 Noun
قُلۡ یَـٰعِبَادِ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمۡۚ لِلَّذِینَ أَحۡسَنُوا۟ فِی هَـٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا حَسَنَةࣱۗ وَأَرۡضُ ٱللَّهِ وَ ٰسِعَةٌۗ إِنَّمَا یُوَفَّى ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَ أَجۡرَهُم بِغَیۡرِ حِسَابࣲ ۝١٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "O My servants who have believed, fear your Lord. For those who do good in this world is good, and the earth of Allah is spacious. Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘[God says], believing servants, be mindful of your Lord! Those who do good in this world will have a good reward- God’s earth is wide––and those who persevere patiently will be given a full and unstinting reward.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: O My bondmen who believe! Observe your duty to your Lord. For those who do good in this world there is good, and Allah's earth is spacious. Verily the steadfast will be paid their wages without stint
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:16 Noun
لَهُم مِّن فَوۡقِهِمۡ ظُلَلࣱ مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ وَمِن تَحۡتِهِمۡ ظُلَلࣱۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ یُخَوِّفُ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦ عِبَادَهُۥۚ یَـٰعِبَادِ فَٱتَّقُونِ ۝١٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They will have canopies of fire above them and below them, canopies. By that Allah threatens His servants. O My servants, then fear Me
Abdel Haleem: They will have layers of Fire above them and below.’ This is how God puts fear into His servants: My servants, beware of Me
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They have an awning of fire above them and beneath them a dais (of fire). With this doth Allah appal His bondmen. O My bondmen, therefor fear Me
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:17 Noun
وَٱلَّذِینَ ٱجۡتَنَبُوا۟ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ أَن یَعۡبُدُوهَا وَأَنَابُوۤا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ لَهُمُ ٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰۚ فَبَشِّرۡ عِبَادِ ۝١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But those who have avoided Taghut, lest they worship it, and turned back to Allah - for them are good tidings. So give good tidings to My servant
Abdel Haleem: There is good news for those who shun the worship of false gods and turn to God, so [Prophet] give good news to My servant
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And those who put away false gods lest they should worship them and turn to Allah in repentance, for them there are glad tidings. Therefor give good tidings (O Muhammad) to My bondme
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:36 Noun
أَلَیۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِكَافٍ عَبۡدَهُۥۖ وَیُخَوِّفُونَكَ بِٱلَّذِینَ مِن دُونِهِۦۚ وَمَن یُضۡلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنۡ هَادࣲ ۝٣٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Is not Allah sufficient for His Servant [Prophet Muhammad]? And [yet], they threaten you with those [they worship] other than Him. And whoever Allah leaves astray - for him there is no guide
Abdel Haleem: Is God not enough for His servant? Yet they threaten you [Prophet] with those they worship other than Him. If God allows someone to stray he has no one to guide him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Will not Allah defend His slave? Yet they would frighten thee with those beside Him. He whom Allah sendeth astray, for him there is no guide
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:46 Noun
قُلِ ٱللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ عَـٰلِمَ ٱلۡغَیۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ أَنتَ تَحۡكُمُ بَیۡنَ عِبَادِكَ فِی مَا كَانُوا۟ فِیهِ یَخۡتَلِفُونَ ۝٤٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "O Allah , Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, You will judge between your servants concerning that over which they used to differ."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘God! Creator of the heavens and earth! Knower of all that is hidden and all that is open, You will judge between Your servants regarding their differences.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: O Allah! Creator of the heavens and the earth! Knower of the Invisible and the Visible! Thou wilt judge between Thy slaves concerning that wherein they used to differ
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:53 Noun
۞ قُلۡ یَـٰعِبَادِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ أَسۡرَفُوا۟ عَلَىٰۤ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَا تَقۡنَطُوا۟ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِیعًاۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝٥٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘[God says], My servants who have harmed yourselves by your own excess, do not despair of God’s mercy. God forgives all sins: He is truly the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: O My slaves who have been prodigal to their own hurt! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, Who forgiveth all sins. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:7 Noun
إِن تَكۡفُرُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَنِیٌّ عَنكُمۡۖ وَلَا یَرۡضَىٰ لِعِبَادِهِ ٱلۡكُفۡرَۖ وَإِن تَشۡكُرُوا۟ یَرۡضَهُ لَكُمۡۗ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةࣱ وِزۡرَ أُخۡرَىٰۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُم مَّرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَیُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِیمُۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ ۝٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): If you disbelieve - indeed, Allah is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves it for you; and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts
Abdel Haleem: If you are ungrateful, remember God has no need of you, yet He is not pleased by ingrati-tude in His servants; if you are grateful, He is pleased [to see] it in you. No soul will bear another’s burden. You will return to your Lord in the end and He will inform you of what you have done: He knows well what is in the depths of [your] hearts
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: If ye are thankless, yet Allah is Independent of you, though He is not pleased with thanklessness for His bondmen; and if ye are thankful He is pleased therewith for you. No laden soul will bear another's load. Then unto your Lord is your return; and He will tell you what ye used to do. Lo! He knoweth what is in the breasts (of men)
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:15 Noun
۞ قُلۡ أَؤُنَبِّئُكُم بِخَیۡرࣲ مِّن ذَ ٰلِكُمۡۖ لِلَّذِینَ ٱتَّقَوۡا۟ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ جَنَّـٰتࣱ تَجۡرِی مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِینَ فِیهَا وَأَزۡوَ ٰجࣱ مُّطَهَّرَةࣱ وَرِضۡوَ ٰنࣱ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِیرُۢ بِٱلۡعِبَادِ ۝١٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "Shall I inform you of [something] better than that? For those who fear Allah will be gardens in the presence of their Lord beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and purified spouses and approval from Allah . And Allah is Seeing of [His] servants
Abdel Haleem: [Prophet], say, ‘Would you like me to tell you of things that are better than all of these? Their Lord will give those who are mindful of God Gardens graced with flowing streams, where they will stay with pure spouses and God’s good pleasure- God is fully aware of His servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: Shall I inform you of something better than that? For those who keep from evil, with their Lord, are Gardens underneath which rivers flow wherein they will abide, and pure companions, and contentment from Allah. Allah is Seer of His bondmen
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:182 Noun
ذَ ٰلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ أَیۡدِیكُمۡ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَیۡسَ بِظَلَّامࣲ لِّلۡعَبِیدِ ۝١٨٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): That is for what your hands have put forth and because Allah is not ever unjust to [His] servants."
Abdel Haleem: That is on account of what you stored up for yourselves with your own hands: God is never unjust to His servants.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: This is on account of that which your own hands have sent before (you to the judgment). Allah is no oppressor of (His) bondmen
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:20 Noun
فَإِنۡ حَاۤجُّوكَ فَقُلۡ أَسۡلَمۡتُ وَجۡهِیَ لِلَّهِ وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَنِۗ وَقُل لِّلَّذِینَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡأُمِّیِّـۧنَ ءَأَسۡلَمۡتُمۡۚ فَإِنۡ أَسۡلَمُوا۟ فَقَدِ ٱهۡتَدَوا۟ۖ وَّإِن تَوَلَّوۡا۟ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَیۡكَ ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِیرُۢ بِٱلۡعِبَادِ ۝٢٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So if they argue with you, say, "I have submitted myself to Allah [in Islam], and [so have] those who follow me." And say to those who were given the Scripture and [to] the unlearned, "Have you submitted yourselves?" And if they submit [in Islam], they are rightly guided; but if they turn away - then upon you is only the [duty of] notification. And Allah is Seeing of [His] servants
Abdel Haleem: if they argue with you [Prophet], say, ‘I have devoted myself to God alone and so have my followers.’ Ask those who were given the Scripture, as well as those without one, ‘Do you too devote yourselves to Him alone?’ If they do, they will be guided, but if they turn away, your only duty is to convey the message. God is aware of His servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And if they argue with thee, (O Muhammad), say: I have surrendered my purpose to Allah and (so have) those who follow me. And say unto those who have received the Scripture and those who read not: Have ye (too) surrendered? If they surrender, then truly they are rightly guided, and if they turn away, then it is thy duty only to convey the message (unto them). Allah is Seer of (His) bondmen
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:30 Noun
یَوۡمَ تَجِدُ كُلُّ نَفۡسࣲ مَّا عَمِلَتۡ مِنۡ خَیۡرࣲ مُّحۡضَرࣰا وَمَا عَمِلَتۡ مِن سُوۤءࣲ تَوَدُّ لَوۡ أَنَّ بَیۡنَهَا وَبَیۡنَهُۥۤ أَمَدَۢا بَعِیدࣰاۗ وَیُحَذِّرُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ نَفۡسَهُۥۗ وَٱللَّهُ رَءُوفُۢ بِٱلۡعِبَادِ ۝٣٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): The Day every soul will find what it has done of good present [before it] and what it has done of evil, it will wish that between itself and that [evil] was a great distance. And Allah warns you of Himself, and Allah is Kind to [His] servants."
Abdel Haleem: On the Day when every soul finds all the good it has done present before it, it will wish all the bad it has done to be far, far away. God warns you to beware of Him, but God is compassionate towards His servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: On the Day when every soul will find itself confronted with all that it hath done of good and all that it hath done of evil (every soul) will long that there might be a mighty space of distance between it and that (evil). Allah biddeth you beware of Him. And Allah is Full of Pity for (His) bondmen
The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:79 Noun
مَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَن یُؤۡتِیَهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡحُكۡمَ وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ ثُمَّ یَقُولَ لِلنَّاسِ كُونُوا۟ عِبَادࣰا لِّی مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَـٰكِن كُونُوا۟ رَبَّـٰنِیِّـۧنَ بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تُعَلِّمُونَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَبِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَدۡرُسُونَ ۝٧٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): It is not for a human [prophet] that Allah should give him the Scripture and authority and prophethood and then he would say to the people, "Be servants to me rather than Allah ," but [instead, he would say], "Be pious scholars of the Lord because of what you have taught of the Scripture and because of what you have studied."
Abdel Haleem: No person to whom God had given the Scripture, wisdom, and prophethood would ever say to people, ‘Be my servants, not God’s.’ [He would say], ‘You should be devoted to God because you have taught the Scripture and studied it closely.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: It is not (possible) for any human being unto whom Allah had given the Scripture and wisdom and the prophethood that he should afterwards have said unto mankind: Be slaves of me instead of Allah; but (what he said was): Be ye faithful servants of the Lord by virtue of your constant teaching of the Scripture and of your constant study thereof
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:15 Noun
رَفِیعُ ٱلدَّرَجَـٰتِ ذُو ٱلۡعَرۡشِ یُلۡقِی ٱلرُّوحَ مِنۡ أَمۡرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ لِیُنذِرَ یَوۡمَ ٱلتَّلَاقِ ۝١٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [He is] the Exalted above [all] degrees, Owner of the Throne; He places the inspiration of His command upon whom He wills of His servants to warn of the Day of Meeting
Abdel Haleem: He is exalted in rank, the Lord of the Throne. He sends revelations with His teachings to whichever of His servants He will, in order to warn of the Day of Meeting
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The Exalter of Ranks, the Lord of the Throne. He causeth the Spirit of His command upon whom He will of His slaves, that He may warn of the Day of Meeting
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:31 Noun
مِثۡلَ دَأۡبِ قَوۡمِ نُوحࣲ وَعَادࣲ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِینَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡۚ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ یُرِیدُ ظُلۡمࣰا لِّلۡعِبَادِ ۝٣١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Like the custom of the people of Noah and of 'Aad and Thamud and those after them. And Allah wants no injustice for [His] servants
Abdel Haleem: the fate of the people of Noah, Ad, Thamud, and those who came after them- God never wills injustice on His creatures
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: A plight like that of Noah's folk, and A'ad and Thamud, and those after them, and Allah willeth no injustice for (His) slaves
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:44 Noun
فَسَتَذۡكُرُونَ مَاۤ أَقُولُ لَكُمۡۚ وَأُفَوِّضُ أَمۡرِیۤ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَصِیرُۢ بِٱلۡعِبَادِ ۝٤٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And you will remember what I [now] say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah . Indeed, Allah is Seeing of [His] servants."
Abdel Haleem: [One Day] you will remember what I am saying to you now, so I commit my case to God: God is well aware of His servants.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And ye will remember what I say unto you. I confide my cause unto Allah. Lo! Allah is Seer of (His) slaves
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:48 Noun
قَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوۤا۟ إِنَّا كُلࣱّ فِیهَاۤ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدۡ حَكَمَ بَیۡنَ ٱلۡعِبَادِ ۝٤٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Those who had been arrogant will say, "Indeed, all [of us] are in it. Indeed, Allah has judged between the servants."
Abdel Haleem: but they will say, ‘We are all in this together. God has judged between His creatures.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Those who were proud say: Lo! we are all (together) herein. Lo! Allah hath judged between (His) slaves
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:60 Noun
وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ٱدۡعُونِیۤ أَسۡتَجِبۡ لَكُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِی سَیَدۡخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِینَ ۝٦٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible
Abdel Haleem: Your Lord says, ‘Call on Me and I will answer you; those who are too proud to serve Me will enter Hell humiliated.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And your Lord hath said: Pray unto Me and I will hear your prayer. Lo! those who scorn My service, they will enter hell, disgraced
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:85 Noun
فَلَمۡ یَكُ یَنفَعُهُمۡ إِیمَـٰنُهُمۡ لَمَّا رَأَوۡا۟ بَأۡسَنَاۖ سُنَّتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِی قَدۡ خَلَتۡ فِی عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ ۝٨٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But never did their faith benefit them once they saw Our punishment. [It is] the established way of Allah which has preceded among His servants. And the disbelievers thereupon lost [all]
Abdel Haleem: but believing after seeing Our punishment did not benefit them at all- this has always been God’s way of dealing with His creatures- there and then the disbelievers were lost
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: But their faith could not avail them when they saw Our doom. This is Allah's law which hath ever taken course for His bondmen. And then the disbelievers will be ruined
Explained in Detail, Revelations Well Expounded 41:46 Noun
مَّنۡ عَمِلَ صَـٰلِحࣰا فَلِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَنۡ أَسَاۤءَ فَعَلَیۡهَاۗ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِظَلَّـٰمࣲ لِّلۡعَبِیدِ ۝٤٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Whoever does righteousness - it is for his [own] soul; and whoever does evil [does so] against it. And your Lord is not ever unjust to [His] servants
Abdel Haleem: Whoever does good does it for his own soul and whoever does evil does it against his own soul: your Lord is never unjust to His creatures
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Whoso doeth right it is for his soul, and whoso doeth wrong it is against it. And thy Lord is not at all a tyrant to His slaves
Council, Consultation, The Counsel 42:19 Noun
ٱللَّهُ لَطِیفُۢ بِعِبَادِهِۦ یَرۡزُقُ مَن یَشَاۤءُۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡقَوِیُّ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ۝١٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Allah is Subtle with His servants; He gives provisions to whom He wills. And He is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might
Abdel Haleem: God is most subtle towards His creatures; He provides [bounti-fully] for whoever He will; He is the Powerful, the Almighty
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah is gracious unto His slaves. He provideth for whom He will. And He is the Strong, the Mighty
Council, Consultation, The Counsel 42:23 Noun
ذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِی یُبَشِّرُ ٱللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِۗ قُل لَّاۤ أَسۡءَلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ أَجۡرًا إِلَّا ٱلۡمَوَدَّةَ فِی ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰۗ وَمَن یَقۡتَرِفۡ حَسَنَةࣰ نَّزِدۡ لَهُۥ فِیهَا حُسۡنًاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورࣱ شَكُورٌ ۝٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): It is that of which Allah gives good tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, [O Muhammad], "I do not ask you for this message any payment [but] only good will through kinship." And whoever commits a good deed - We will increase for him good therein. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Appreciative
Abdel Haleem: it is of this that God gives good news to His servants who believe and do good deeds. Say [Prophet], ‘I ask no reward from you for this, only the affection due to kin.’ If anyone does good, We shall increase it for him; God is most forgiving and most appreciative
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: This it is which Allah announceth unto His bondmen who believe and do good works. Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I ask of you no fee therefor, save lovingkindness among kinsfolk. And whoso scoreth a good deed We add unto its good for him. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Responsive
Council, Consultation, The Counsel 42:25 Noun
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی یَقۡبَلُ ٱلتَّوۡبَةَ عَنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَیَعۡفُوا۟ عَنِ ٱلسَّیِّءَاتِ وَیَعۡلَمُ مَا تَفۡعَلُونَ ۝٢٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And it is He who accepts repentance from his servants and pardons misdeeds, and He knows what you do
Abdel Haleem: it is He who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons bad deeds- He knows everything you do
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And He it is Who accepteth repentance from His bondmen, and pardoneth the evil deeds, and knoweth what ye do
Council, Consultation, The Counsel 42:27 Noun
۞ وَلَوۡ بَسَطَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِعِبَادِهِۦ لَبَغَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَـٰكِن یُنَزِّلُ بِقَدَرࣲ مَّا یَشَاۤءُۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِیرُۢ بَصِیرࣱ ۝٢٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And if Allah had extended [excessively] provision for His servants, they would have committed tyranny throughout the earth. But He sends [it] down in an amount which He wills. Indeed He is, of His servants, Acquainted and Seeing
Abdel Haleem: If God were to grant His plentiful provision to [all] His creatures, they would act insolently on earth, but He sends down in due measure whatever He will, for He is well aware of His servants and watchful over them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And if Allah were to enlarge the provision for His slaves they would surely rebel in the earth, but He sendeth down by measure as He willeth. Lo! He is Informed, a Seer of His bondmen
Council, Consultation, The Counsel 42:52 Noun
وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ أَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكَ رُوحࣰا مِّنۡ أَمۡرِنَاۚ مَا كُنتَ تَدۡرِی مَا ٱلۡكِتَـٰبُ وَلَا ٱلۡإِیمَـٰنُ وَلَـٰكِن جَعَلۡنَـٰهُ نُورࣰا نَّهۡدِی بِهِۦ مَن نَّشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَاۚ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهۡدِیۤ إِلَىٰ صِرَ ٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣲ ۝٥٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command. You did not know what is the Book or [what is] faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, [O Muhammad], you guide to a straight path
Abdel Haleem: So We have revealed a spirit to you [Prophet] by Our command: you knew neither the Scripture nor the faith, but We made it a light, guiding with it whoever We will of Our servants. You give guidance to the straight path
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And thus have We inspired in thee (Muhammad) a Spirit of Our command. Thou knewest not what the Scripture was, nor what the Faith. But We have made it a light whereby We guide whom We will of Our bondmen. And lo! thou verily dost guide unto a right path
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:15 Noun
وَجَعَلُوا۟ لَهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ جُزۡءًاۚ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ لَكَفُورࣱ مُّبِینٌ ۝١٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful
Abdel Haleem: Yet they assign some of His own servants to Him as offspring!Man is clearly ungrateful
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:19 Noun
وَجَعَلُوا۟ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةَ ٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ عِبَـٰدُ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ إِنَـٰثًاۚ أَشَهِدُوا۟ خَلۡقَهُمۡۚ سَتُكۡتَبُ شَهَـٰدَتُهُمۡ وَیُسۡءَلُونَ ۝١٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they have made the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned
Abdel Haleem: They consider the angels- God’s servants- to be female. Did they witness their creation? Their claim will be put on record and they will be questioned about it
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they make the angels, who are the slaves of the Beneficent, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded and they will be questioned
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:59 Noun
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا عَبۡدٌ أَنۡعَمۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُ مَثَلࣰا لِّبَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝٥٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Jesus was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel
Abdel Haleem: but he is only a servant We favoured and made an example for the Children of Israel
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He is nothing but a slave on whom We bestowed favour, and We made him a pattern for the Children of Israel
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:68 Noun
یَـٰعِبَادِ لَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَیۡكُمُ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ وَلَاۤ أَنتُمۡ تَحۡزَنُونَ ۝٦٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [To whom Allah will say], "O My servants, no fear will there be concerning you this Day, nor will you grieve
Abdel Haleem: ‘My servants, there is no fear for you today, nor shall you grieve’––
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: O My slaves! For you there is no fear this day, nor is it ye who grieve
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:81 Noun
قُلۡ إِن كَانَ لِلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ وَلَدࣱ فَأَنَا۠ أَوَّلُ ٱلۡعَـٰبِدِینَ ۝٨١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, [O Muhammad], "If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of [his] worshippers."
Abdel Haleem: Say [Prophet], ‘If the Lord of Mercy [truly] had offspring I would be the first to worship [them], but
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say (O Muhammad): If the Beneficent One hath a son, then, I shall be first among the worshippers. (But there is no son)
Smoke, The Evident Smoke 44:18 Noun
أَنۡ أَدُّوۤا۟ إِلَیَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ ۝١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah . Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger,"
Abdel Haleem: saying, ‘Hand the servants of God over to me! I am a faithful messenger who has been sent to you
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Saying: Give up to me the slaves of Allah. Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you
Smoke, The Evident Smoke 44:23 Noun
فَأَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِی لَیۡلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ ۝٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [ Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued
Abdel Haleem: [God replied], ‘Escape in the night with My servants, for you are sure to be pursued
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then (his Lord commanded): Take away My slaves by night. Lo! ye will be followed
The Wind-curved Sandhills, The Dunes, The Sandhills 46:6 Noun
وَإِذَا حُشِرَ ٱلنَّاسُ كَانُوا۟ لَهُمۡ أَعۡدَاۤءࣰ وَكَانُوا۟ بِعِبَادَتِهِمۡ كَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when the people are gathered [that Day], they [who were invoked] will be enemies to them, and they will be deniers of their worship
Abdel Haleem: those who, when all mankind is gathered, will become his enemies and disown his worship
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when mankind are gathered (to the Judgment) will become enemies for them, and will become deniers of having been worshipped
Women 4:118 Noun
لَّعَنَهُ ٱللَّهُۘ وَقَالَ لَأَتَّخِذَنَّ مِنۡ عِبَادِكَ نَصِیبࣰا مَّفۡرُوضࣰا ۝١١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Whom Allah has cursed. For he had said, "I will surely take from among Your servants a specific portion
Abdel Haleem: God rejected, who said, ‘I will certainly take my due share of Your servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Whom Allah cursed, and he said: Surely I will take of Thy bondmen an appointed portion
Women 4:172 Noun
لَّن یَسۡتَنكِفَ ٱلۡمَسِیحُ أَن یَكُونَ عَبۡدࣰا لِّلَّهِ وَلَا ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَۚ وَمَن یَسۡتَنكِفۡ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَیَسۡتَكۡبِرۡ فَسَیَحۡشُرُهُمۡ إِلَیۡهِ جَمِیعࣰا ۝١٧٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Never would the Messiah disdain to be a servant of Allah , nor would the angels near [to Him]. And whoever disdains His worship and is arrogant - He will gather them to Himself all together
Abdel Haleem: The Messiah would never disdain to be a servant of God, nor would the angels who are close to Him. He will gather before Him all those who disdain His worship and are arrogant
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The Messiah will never scorn to be a slave unto Allah, nor will the favoured angels. Whoso scorneth His service and is proud, all such will He assemble unto Him
The Letter Qaf 50:11 Noun
رِّزۡقࣰا لِّلۡعِبَادِۖ وَأَحۡیَیۡنَا بِهِۦ بَلۡدَةࣰ مَّیۡتࣰاۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلۡخُرُوجُ ۝١١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): As provision for the servants, and We have given life thereby to a dead land. Thus is the resurrection
Abdel Haleem: as a provision for everyone; how with water We give [new] life to a land that is dead? This is how the dead will emerge [from their graves]
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Provision (made) for men; and therewith We quicken a dead land. Even so will be the resurrection of the dead
The Letter Qaf 50:29 Noun
مَا یُبَدَّلُ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ لَدَیَّ وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ بِظَلَّـٰمࣲ لِّلۡعَبِیدِ ۝٢٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): The word will not be changed with Me, and never will I be unjust to the servants."
Abdel Haleem: and My word cannot be changed: I am not unjust to any creature.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The sentence that cometh from Me cannot be changed, and I am in no wise a tyrant unto the slaves
The Letter Qaf 50:8 Noun
تَبۡصِرَةࣰ وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبۡدࣲ مُّنِیبࣲ ۝٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah ]
Abdel Haleem: as a lesson and reminder for every servant who turns to God
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: A vision and a reminder for every penitent slave
The Star 53:10 Noun
فَأَوۡحَىٰۤ إِلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِۦ مَاۤ أَوۡحَىٰ ۝١٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed
Abdel Haleem: and revealed to God’s servant what He revealed
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed
The Moon 54:9 Noun
۞ كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحࣲ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبۡدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجۡنُونࣱ وَٱزۡدُجِرَ ۝٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled
Abdel Haleem: The people of Noah rejected the truth before them: they rejected Our servant, saying, ‘He is mad!’ Noah was rebuked
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed
The Iron 57:9 Noun
هُوَ ٱلَّذِی یُنَزِّلُ عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِۦۤ ءَایَـٰتِۭ بَیِّنَـٰتࣲ لِّیُخۡرِجَكُم مِّنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُمۡ لَرَءُوفࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ۝٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): It is He who sends down upon His Servant [Muhammad] verses of clear evidence that He may bring you out from darknesses into the light. And indeed, Allah is to you Kind and Merciful
Abdel Haleem: It is He who has sent down clear revelations to His Servant, so that He may bring you from the depths of darkness into light; God is truly kind and merciful to you
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He it is Who sendeth down clear revelations unto His slave, that He may bring you forth from darkness unto light; and lo! for you, Allah is Full of Pity, Merciful
The Table, The Table Spread 5:118 Noun
إِن تُعَذِّبۡهُمۡ فَإِنَّهُمۡ عِبَادُكَۖ وَإِن تَغۡفِرۡ لَهُمۡ فَإِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ۝١١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): If You should punish them - indeed they are Your servants; but if You forgive them - indeed it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise
Abdel Haleem: and if You punish them, they are Your servants; if You forgive them, You are the Almighty, the Wise.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: If Thou punish them, lo! they are Thy slaves, and if Thou forgive them (lo! they are Thy slaves). Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Mighty, the Wise
Banning, Prohibition 66:10 Noun
ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلࣰا لِّلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱمۡرَأَتَ نُوحࣲ وَٱمۡرَأَتَ لُوطࣲۖ كَانَتَا تَحۡتَ عَبۡدَیۡنِ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا صَـٰلِحَیۡنِ فَخَانَتَاهُمَا فَلَمۡ یُغۡنِیَا عَنۡهُمَا مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَیۡءࣰا وَقِیلَ ٱدۡخُلَا ٱلنَّارَ مَعَ ٱلدَّ ٰخِلِینَ ۝١٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Allah presents an example of those who disbelieved: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were under two of Our righteous servants but betrayed them, so those prophets did not avail them from Allah at all, and it was said, "Enter the Fire with those who enter."
Abdel Haleem: God has given examples of disbelievers: the wives of Noah and Lot who married two of Our righteous servants but betrayed them. Their husbands could not help them against God: it was said, ‘Both of you enter the Fire with the others.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah citeth an example for those who disbelieve: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot, who were under two of Our righteous slaves yet betrayed them so that they (the husbands) availed them naught against Allah and it was said (unto them): Enter the Fire along with those who enter
Banning, Prohibition 66:5 Noun
عَسَىٰ رَبُّهُۥۤ إِن طَلَّقَكُنَّ أَن یُبۡدِلَهُۥۤ أَزۡوَ ٰجًا خَیۡرࣰا مِّنكُنَّ مُسۡلِمَـٰتࣲ مُّؤۡمِنَـٰتࣲ قَـٰنِتَـٰتࣲ تَـٰۤىِٕبَـٰتٍ عَـٰبِدَ ٰتࣲ سَـٰۤىِٕحَـٰتࣲ ثَیِّبَـٰتࣲ وَأَبۡكَارࣰا ۝٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Perhaps his Lord, if he divorced you [all], would substitute for him wives better than you - submitting [to Allah ], believing, devoutly obedient, repentant, worshipping, and traveling - [ones] previously married and virgins
Abdel Haleem: His Lord may well replace you with better wives if the Prophet decides to divorce any of you: wives who are devoted to God, true believers, devout, who turn to Him in repentance and worship Him, given to fasting, whether previously married or virgins
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: It may happen that his Lord, if he divorce you, will give him in your stead wives better than you, submissive (to Allah), believing, pious, penitent, devout, inclined to fasting, widows and maids
Cattle, Livestock 6:18 Noun
وَهُوَ ٱلۡقَاهِرُ فَوۡقَ عِبَادِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡحَكِیمُ ٱلۡخَبِیرُ ۝١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And He is the subjugator over His servants. And He is the Wise, the Acquainted [with all]
Abdel Haleem: He is the Supreme Master over His creatures, the All Wise, the All Aware
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He is the Omnipotent over His slaves, and He is the Wise, the Knower
Cattle, Livestock 6:61 Noun
وَهُوَ ٱلۡقَاهِرُ فَوۡقَ عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَیُرۡسِلُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ حَفَظَةً حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا جَاۤءَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ تَوَفَّتۡهُ رُسُلُنَا وَهُمۡ لَا یُفَرِّطُونَ ۝٦١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And He is the subjugator over His servants, and He sends over you guardian-angels until, when death comes to one of you, Our messengers take him, and they do not fail [in their duties]
Abdel Haleem: He is the Supreme Master over His subjects. He sends out recorders to watch over you until, when death overtakes any of you, those sent by Us take his soul- they never fail in their duty
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He is the Omnipotent over His slaves. He sendeth guardians over you until, when death cometh unto one of you, Our messengers receive him, and they neglect not
Cattle, Livestock 6:88 Noun
ذَ ٰلِكَ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ یَهۡدِی بِهِۦ مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۚ وَلَوۡ أَشۡرَكُوا۟ لَحَبِطَ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝٨٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whomever He wills of His servants. But if they had associated others with Allah , then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing
Abdel Haleem: Such is God’s guidance, with which He guides whichever of His servants He will. If they had associated other gods with Him, all their deeds would have come to nothing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Such is the guidance of Allah wherewith He guideth whom He will of His bondmen. But if they had set up (for worship) aught beside Him, (all) that they did would have been vain
Noah 71:27 Noun
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرۡهُمۡ یُضِلُّوا۟ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا یَلِدُوۤا۟ إِلَّا فَاجِرࣰا كَفَّارࣰا ۝٢٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever
Abdel Haleem: if you leave them they will lead Your servants astray and beget only sinners and disbelievers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: If Thou shouldst leave them, they will mislead Thy slaves and will beget none save lewd ingrates
Man 76:6 Noun
عَیۡنࣰا یَشۡرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ یُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفۡجِیرࣰا ۝٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]
Abdel Haleem: a spring for God’s servants, which flows abundantly at their wish
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:128 Noun
قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوۡمِهِ ٱسۡتَعِینُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱصۡبِرُوۤا۟ۖ إِنَّ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ لِلَّهِ یُورِثُهَا مَن یَشَاۤءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَٱلۡعَـٰقِبَةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِینَ ۝١٢٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Said Moses to his people, "Seek help through Allah and be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to Allah . He causes to inherit it whom He wills of His servants. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous."
Abdel Haleem: Moses said to his people, ‘Turn to God for help and be steadfast: the earth belongs to God- He gives it as their own to whichever of His servants He chooses- and the happy future belongs to those who are mindful of Him,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And Moses said unto his people: Seek help in Allah and endure. Lo! the earth is Allah's. He giveth it for an inheritance to whom He will. And lo! the sequel is for those who keep their duty (unto Him)
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:194 Noun
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ عِبَادٌ أَمۡثَالُكُمۡۖ فَٱدۡعُوهُمۡ فَلۡیَسۡتَجِیبُوا۟ لَكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ۝١٩٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, those you [polytheists] call upon besides Allah are servants like you. So call upon them and let them respond to you, if you should be truthful
Abdel Haleem: Those you [idolaters] call upon instead of God are created beings like you. Call upon them, then, and let them respond to you if what you say is true
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! those on whom ye call beside Allah are slaves like unto you. Call on them now, and let them answer you, if ye are truthful
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:206 Noun
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ عِندَ رَبِّكَ لَا یَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَیُسَبِّحُونَهُۥ وَلَهُۥ یَ̅سۡ̅جُ̅دُ̅و̅نَ̅ ۝٢٠٦ ۩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, those who are near your Lord are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, and they exalt Him, and to Him they prostrate
Abdel Haleem: [even] those who live in the presence of your Lord are not too proud to worship Him: they glorify Him and bow down before Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! those who are with thy Lord are not too proud to do Him service, but they praise Him and prostrate before Him
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:32 Noun
قُلۡ مَنۡ حَرَّمَ زِینَةَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِیۤ أَخۡرَجَ لِعِبَادِهِۦ وَٱلطَّیِّبَـٰتِ مِنَ ٱلرِّزۡقِۚ قُلۡ هِیَ لِلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡحَیَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡیَا خَالِصَةࣰ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِۗ كَذَ ٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ لِقَوۡمࣲ یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٣٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "Who has forbidden the adornment of Allah which He has produced for His servants and the good [lawful] things of provision?" Say, "They are for those who believe during the worldly life [but] exclusively for them on the Day of Resurrection." Thus do We detail the verses for a people who know
Abdel Haleem: Say [Prophet], ‘Who has forbidden the adornment and the nourishment God has provided for His servants?’ Say, ‘They are [allowed] for those who believe during the life of this world: they will be theirs alone on the Day of Resurrection.’ This is how We make Our revelation clear for those who understand
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: Who hath forbidden the adornment of Allah which He hath brought forth for His bondmen, and the good things of His providing? Say: Such, on the Day of Resurrection, will be only for those who believed during the life of the world. Thus do we detail Our revelations for people who have knowledge
The Dawn, Daybreak 89:29 Noun
فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And enter among My [righteous] servant
Abdel Haleem: go in among My servants
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Enter thou among My bondmen
The Spoils of War 8:41 Noun
۞ وَٱعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنَّمَا غَنِمۡتُم مِّن شَیۡءࣲ فَأَنَّ لِلَّهِ خُمُسَهُۥ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِی ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَٱلۡیَتَـٰمَىٰ وَٱلۡمَسَـٰكِینِ وَٱبۡنِ ٱلسَّبِیلِ إِن كُنتُمۡ ءَامَنتُم بِٱللَّهِ وَمَاۤ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِنَا یَوۡمَ ٱلۡفُرۡقَانِ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡتَقَى ٱلۡجَمۡعَانِۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ قَدِیرٌ ۝٤١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And know that anything you obtain of war booty - then indeed, for Allah is one fifth of it and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives and the orphans, the needy, and the [stranded] traveler, if you have believed in Allah and in that which We sent down to Our Servant on the day of criterion - the day when the two armies met. And Allah , over all things, is competent
Abdel Haleem: Know that one-fifth of your battle gains belongs to God and the Messenger, to close relatives and orphans, to the needy and travellers, if you believe in God and the revelation We sent down to Our servant on the day of the decision, the day when the two forces met in battle. God has power over all things
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And know that whatever ye take as spoils of war, lo! a fifth thereof is for Allah, and for the messenger and for the kinsman (who hath need) and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, if ye believe in Allah and that which We revealed unto Our slave on the Day of Discrimination, the day when the two armies met. And Allah is Able to do all things
The Spoils of War 8:51 Noun
ذَ ٰلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ أَیۡدِیكُمۡ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَیۡسَ بِظَلَّـٰمࣲ لِّلۡعَبِیدِ ۝٥١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): That is for what your hands have put forth [of evil] and because Allah is not ever unjust to His servants."
Abdel Haleem: This is caused by what your own hands have stored up for you: God is never unjust to His creatures.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: This is for that which your own hands have sent before (to the Judgment), and (know) that Allah is not a tyrant to His slaves

Repentance 9:104 Noun
أَلَمۡ یَعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ یَقۡبَلُ ٱلتَّوۡبَةَ عَنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَیَأۡخُذُ ٱلصَّدَقَـٰتِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ ۝١٠٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Do they not know that it is Allah who accepts repentance from His servants and receives charities and that it is Allah who is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful
Abdel Haleem: Do they not know that it is God Himself who accepts repentance from His servants and receives what is given freely for His sake? He is always ready to accept repentance, most merciful
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Know they not that Allah is He Who accepteth repentance from His bondmen and taketh the alms, and that Allah is He Who is the Relenting, the Merciful
Repentance 9:112 Noun
ٱلتَّـٰۤىِٕبُونَ ٱلۡعَـٰبِدُونَ ٱلۡحَـٰمِدُونَ ٱلسَّـٰۤىِٕحُونَ ٱلرَّ ٰكِعُونَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدُونَ ٱلۡءَامِرُونَ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَٱلنَّاهُونَ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَٱلۡحَـٰفِظُونَ لِحُدُودِ ٱللَّهِۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١١٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Such believers are] the repentant, the worshippers, the praisers [of Allah ], the travelers [for His cause], those who bow and prostrate [in prayer], those who enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and those who observe the limits [set by] Allah . And give good tidings to the believers
Abdel Haleem: [The believers are] those who turn to God in repentance; who worship and praise Him; who bow down and pros-trate themselves; who order what is good and forbid what is wrong and who observe God’s limits. Give glad news to such believers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (Triumphant) are those who turn repentant (to Allah), those who serve (Him), those who praise (Him), those who fast, those who bow down, those who fall prostrate (in worship), those who enjoin the right and who forbid the wrong and those who keep the limits (ordained) of Allah - And give glad tidings to believers

Jonah 10:104 Verb
قُلۡ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِن كُنتُمۡ فِی شَكࣲّ مِّن دِینِی فَلَاۤ أَعۡبُدُ ٱلَّذِینَ تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَـٰكِنۡ أَعۡبُدُ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِی یَتَوَفَّىٰكُمۡۖ وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ ۝١٠٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, [O Muhammad], "O people, if you are in doubt as to my religion - then I do not worship those which you worship besides Allah ; but I worship Allah , who causes your death. And I have been commanded to be of the believer
Abdel Haleem: [Prophet] say, ‘People, even if you are in doubt about my religion, I do not worship those you worship other than God, but I worship God who will cause you to die, and I am commanded to be a believer.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say (O Muhammad): O mankind! If ye are in doubt of my religion, then (know that) I worship not those whom ye worship instead of Allah, but I worship Allah Who causeth you to die, and I have been commanded to be of the believers
Jonah 10:18 Verb
وَیَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَضُرُّهُمۡ وَلَا یَنفَعُهُمۡ وَیَقُولُونَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ شُفَعَـٰۤؤُنَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَتُنَبِّءُونَ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا لَا یَعۡلَمُ فِی ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَلَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝١٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they worship other than Allah that which neither harms them nor benefits them, and they say, "These are our intercessors with Allah " Say, "Do you inform Allah of something He does not know in the heavens or on the earth?" Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Hi
Abdel Haleem: They worship alongside God things that can neither harm nor benefit them, and say, ‘These are our intercessors with God.’ Say, ‘Do you think you can tell God about something He knows not to exist in the heavens or earth? Glory be to Him! He is far above the partner-gods they associate with Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They worship beside Allah that which neither hurteth them nor profiteth them, and they say: These are our intercessors with Allah. Say: Would ye inform Allah of (something) that He knoweth not in the heavens or in the earth? Praised be He and High Exalted above all that ye associate (with Him)
Jonah 10:28 Verb
وَیَوۡمَ نَحۡشُرُهُمۡ جَمِیعࣰا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِینَ أَشۡرَكُوا۟ مَكَانَكُمۡ أَنتُمۡ وَشُرَكَاۤؤُكُمۡۚ فَزَیَّلۡنَا بَیۡنَهُمۡۖ وَقَالَ شُرَكَاۤؤُهُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ إِیَّانَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٢٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day We will gather them all together - then We will say to those who associated others with Allah , "[Remain in] your place, you and your 'partners.' " Then We will separate them, and their "partners" will say, "You did not used to worship us
Abdel Haleem: On the Day We gather them all together, We shall say to those who associate partners with God, ‘Stay in your place, you and your partner-gods.’ Then We shall separate them, and their partner-gods will say, ‘It was not us you worshipped
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: On the day when We gather them all together, then We say unto those who ascribed partners (unto Us): Stand back, ye and your (pretended) partners (of Allah)! And We separate them, the one from the other, and their (pretended) partners say: It was not us ye worshipped
Jonah 10:3 Verb
إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِی سِتَّةِ أَیَّامࣲ ثُمَّ ٱسۡتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡعَرۡشِۖ یُدَبِّرُ ٱلۡأَمۡرَۖ مَا مِن شَفِیعٍ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ إِذۡنِهِۦۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُوهُۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, your Lord is Allah , who created the heavens and the earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne, arranging the matter [of His creation]. There is no intercessor except after His permission. That is Allah , your Lord, so worship Him. Then will you not remember
Abdel Haleem: Your Lord is God who created the heavens and earth in six Days, then established Himself on the Throne, governing everything; there is no one that can intercede with Him, unless He has first given permission: this is God your Lord so worship Him. How can you not take heed
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, then He established Himself upon the Throne, directing all things. There is no intercessor (with Him) save after His permission. That is Allah, your Lord, so worship Him. Oh, will ye not remind
Hud 11:109 Verb
فَلَا تَكُ فِی مِرۡیَةࣲ مِّمَّا یَعۡبُدُ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِۚ مَا یَعۡبُدُونَ إِلَّا كَمَا یَعۡبُدُ ءَابَاۤؤُهُم مِّن قَبۡلُۚ وَإِنَّا لَمُوَفُّوهُمۡ نَصِیبَهُمۡ غَیۡرَ مَنقُوصࣲ ۝١٠٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So do not be in doubt, [O Muhammad], as to what these [polytheists] are worshipping. They worship not except as their fathers worshipped before. And indeed, We will give them their share undiminished
Abdel Haleem: [Prophet], have no doubt about what these people worship: it is merely what their fathers worshipped before them, and We shall certainly give them their share in full, without any reduction
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: So be not thou in doubt concerning that which these (folk) worship. They worship only as their fathers worshipped aforetime. Lo! we shall pay them their whole due unabated
Hud 11:123 Verb
وَلِلَّهِ غَیۡبُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِلَیۡهِ یُرۡجَعُ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ كُلُّهُۥ فَٱعۡبُدۡهُ وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَیۡهِۚ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَـٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And to Allah belong the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth and to Him will be returned the matter, all of it, so worship Him and rely upon Him. And your Lord is not unaware of that which you do
Abdel Haleem: All that is hidden in the heavens and earth belongs to God, and all authority goes back to Him. So [Prophet], worship Him, and put your trust in Him: your Lord is never unaware of what you [people] are doing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And Allah's is the Invisible of the heavens and the earth, and unto Him the whole matter will be returned. So worship Him and put thy trust in Him. Lo! thy Lord is not unaware of what ye (mortals) do
Hud 11:2 Verb
أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَۚ إِنَّنِی لَكُم مِّنۡهُ نَذِیرࣱ وَبَشِیرࣱ ۝٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Through a messenger, saying], "Do not worship except Allah . Indeed, I am to you from Him a warner and a bringer of good tidings,"
Abdel Haleem: [Say, Prophet], ‘Worship no one but God. I am sent to you from Him to warn and to give good news
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (Saying): Serve none but Allah. Lo! I am unto you from Him a warner and a bringer of good tidings
Hud 11:26 Verb
أَن لَّا تَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَۖ إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ أَلِیمࣲ ۝٢٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): That you not worship except Allah . Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a painful day."
Abdel Haleem: worship no one but God. I fear you will have torment on a painful Day.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: That ye serve none, save Allah. Lo! I fear for you the retribution of a painful Day
Hud 11:50 Verb
وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمۡ هُودࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۤۖ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا مُفۡتَرُونَ ۝٥٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And to 'Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, "O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him. You are not but inventors [of falsehood]
Abdel Haleem: To the Ad, We sent their brother, Hud. He said, ‘My people, worship God. You have no god other than Him; you are only making up lies
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And unto (the tribe of) A'ad (We sent) their brother, Hud. He said: O my people! Serve Allah! Ye have no other Allah save Him. Lo! ye do but invent
Hud 11:61 Verb
۞ وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمۡ صَـٰلِحࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۖ هُوَ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱسۡتَعۡمَرَكُمۡ فِیهَا فَٱسۡتَغۡفِرُوهُ ثُمَّ تُوبُوۤا۟ إِلَیۡهِۚ إِنَّ رَبِّی قَرِیبࣱ مُّجِیبࣱ ۝٦١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And to Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih, He said, "O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him. He has produced you from the earth and settled you in it, so ask forgiveness of Him and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is near and responsive."
Abdel Haleem: To the Thamud, We sent their brother, Salih. He said, ‘My people, worship God. You have no god other than Him. It was He who brought you into being from the earth and made you inhabit it, so ask forgiveness from Him, and turn back to Him: my Lord is near, and ready to answer.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And unto (the tribe of) Thamud (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! Serve Allah, Ye have no other Allah save Him. He brought you forth from the earth and hath made you husband it. So ask forgiveness of Him and turn unto Him repentant. Lo! my Lord is Nigh, Responsive
Hud 11:62 Verb
قَالُوا۟ یَـٰصَـٰلِحُ قَدۡ كُنتَ فِینَا مَرۡجُوࣰّا قَبۡلَ هَـٰذَاۤۖ أَتَنۡهَىٰنَاۤ أَن نَّعۡبُدَ مَا یَعۡبُدُ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا وَإِنَّنَا لَفِی شَكࣲّ مِّمَّا تَدۡعُونَاۤ إِلَیۡهِ مُرِیبࣲ ۝٦٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They said, "O Salih, you were among us a man of promise before this. Do you forbid us to worship what our fathers worshipped? And indeed we are, about that to which you invite us, in disquieting doubt."
Abdel Haleem: They said, ‘Salih, We used to have such great hope in you. Will you forbid us to worship what our fathers worshipped? We are in grave doubt about what you are asking us to do.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They said: O Salih! Thou hast been among us hitherto as that wherein our hope was placed. Dost thou ask us not to worship what our fathers worshipped? Lo! we verily are in grave doubt concerning that to which thou callest us
Hud 11:84 Verb
۞ وَإِلَىٰ مَدۡیَنَ أَخَاهُمۡ شُعَیۡبࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۖ وَلَا تَنقُصُوا۟ ٱلۡمِكۡیَالَ وَٱلۡمِیزَانَۖ إِنِّیۤ أَرَىٰكُم بِخَیۡرࣲ وَإِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ یَوۡمࣲ مُّحِیطࣲ ۝٨٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And to Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu'ayb. He said, "O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him. And do not decrease from the measure and the scale. Indeed, I see you in prosperity, but indeed, I fear for you the punishment of an all-encompassing Day
Abdel Haleem: And to Midian, We sent their brother Shuayb. He said, ‘My people, worship God. You have no god other than Him. Do not give short measure nor short weight. I see you are prospering, but I fear you will have torment on an overwhelming Day
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And unto Midian (We sent) their brother Shu'eyb. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him! And give not short measure and short weight. Lo! I see you well-to-do, and lo! I fear for you the doom of a besetting Day
Hud 11:87 Verb
قَالُوا۟ یَـٰشُعَیۡبُ أَصَلَوٰتُكَ تَأۡمُرُكَ أَن نَّتۡرُكَ مَا یَعۡبُدُ ءَابَاۤؤُنَاۤ أَوۡ أَن نَّفۡعَلَ فِیۤ أَمۡوَ ٰلِنَا مَا نَشَـٰۤؤُا۟ۖ إِنَّكَ لَأَنتَ ٱلۡحَلِیمُ ٱلرَّشِیدُ ۝٨٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They said, "O Shu'ayb, does your prayer command you that we should leave what our fathers worship or not do with our wealth what we please? Indeed, you are the forbearing, the discerning!"
Abdel Haleem: They said, ‘Shuayb, does your prayer tell you that we should abandon what our forefathers worshipped and refrain from doing whatever we please with our own property? Indeed you are a tolerant and sensible man.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They said: O Shu'eyb! Doth thy way of prayer command thee that we should forsake that which our fathers (used to) worship, or that we (should leave off) doing what we will with our own property. Lo! thou art the mild, the guide to right behaviour
Joseph 12:40 Verb
مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦۤ إِلَّاۤ أَسۡمَاۤءࣰ سَمَّیۡتُمُوهَاۤ أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَاۤؤُكُم مَّاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلۡطَـٰنٍۚ إِنِ ٱلۡحُكۡمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ أَمَرَ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَّاۤ إِیَّاهُۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلدِّینُ ٱلۡقَیِّمُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٤٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): You worship not besides Him except [mere] names you have named them, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. Legislation is not but for Allah . He has commanded that you worship not except Him. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know
Abdel Haleem: All those you worship instead of Him are mere names you and your forefathers have invented, names for which God has sent down no sanction. Authority belongs to God alone, and He orders you to worship none but Him: this is the true faith, though most people do not realize it
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Those whom ye worship beside Him are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers. Allah hath revealed no sanction for them. The decision rests with Allah only, Who hath commanded you that ye worship none save Him. This is the right religion, but most men know not
The Thunder 13:36 Verb
وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ یَفۡرَحُونَ بِمَاۤ أُنزِلَ إِلَیۡكَۖ وَمِنَ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابِ مَن یُنكِرُ بَعۡضَهُۥۚ قُلۡ إِنَّمَاۤ أُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ ٱللَّهَ وَلَاۤ أُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦۤۚ إِلَیۡهِ أَدۡعُوا۟ وَإِلَیۡهِ مَءَابِ ۝٣٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [the believers among] those to whom We have given the [previous] Scripture rejoice at what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], but among the [opposing] factions are those who deny part of it. Say, "I have only been commanded to worship Allah and not associate [anything] with Him. To Him I invite, and to Him is my return."
Abdel Haleem: Those to whom We sent the Scripture rejoice in what has been revealed to you [Prophet]; some factions deny parts of it. Say, ‘I am commanded to worship God, and not join anything with Him in worship: to Him I call [others] and to Him I shall return.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Those unto whom We gave the Scripture rejoice in that which is revealed unto thee. And of the clans there are who deny some of it. Say: I am commanded only that I serve Allah and ascribe unto Him no partner. Unto Him I cry, and unto Him is my return
Abraham 14:10 Verb
۞ قَالَتۡ رُسُلُهُمۡ أَفِی ٱللَّهِ شَكࣱّ فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ یَدۡعُوكُمۡ لِیَغۡفِرَ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمۡ وَیُؤَخِّرَكُمۡ إِلَىٰۤ أَجَلࣲ مُّسَمࣰّىۚ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُنَا تُرِیدُونَ أَن تَصُدُّونَا عَمَّا كَانَ یَعۡبُدُ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا فَأۡتُونَا بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ مُّبِینࣲ ۝١٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Their messengers said, "Can there be doubt about Allah , Creator of the heavens and earth? He invites you that He may forgive you of your sins, and He delays your death for a specified term." They said, "You are not but men like us who wish to avert us from what our fathers were worshipping. So bring us a clear authority."
Abdel Haleem: Their messengers answered, ‘Can there be any doubt about God, the Creator of the heavens and earth? He calls you to Him in order to forgive you your sins and let you enjoy your life until the appointed hour.’ But they said, ‘You are only men like us. You want to turn us away from what our forefathers used to worship. Bring us clear proof then, [if you can].’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Their messengers said: Can there be doubt concerning Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth? He calleth you that He may forgive you your sins and reprieve you unto an appointed term. They said: Ye are but mortals like us, who would fain turn us away from what our fathers used to worship. Then bring some clear warrant
Abraham 14:35 Verb
وَإِذۡ قَالَ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ رَبِّ ٱجۡعَلۡ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدَ ءَامِنࣰا وَٱجۡنُبۡنِی وَبَنِیَّ أَن نَّعۡبُدَ ٱلۡأَصۡنَامَ ۝٣٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said, "My Lord, make this city [Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols
Abdel Haleem: Remember when Abraham said, ‘Lord, make this town safe! Preserve me and my offspring from idolatry
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when Abraham said: My Lord! Make safe this territory, and preserve me and my sons from serving idols
The Rock, Stoneland, Rock City 15:99 Verb
وَٱعۡبُدۡ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ یَأۡتِیَكَ ٱلۡیَقِینُ ۝٩٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death)
Abdel Haleem: worship your Lord until what is certain comes to you
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And serve thy Lord till the Inevitable cometh unto thee
The Bee 16:114 Verb
فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ حَلَـٰلࣰا طَیِّبࣰا وَٱشۡكُرُوا۟ نِعۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ إِیَّاهُ تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝١١٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Then eat of what Allah has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And be grateful for the favor of Allah , if it is [indeed] Him that you worship
Abdel Haleem: So eat of the good and lawful things God has provided for you and be thankful for His blessings, if it is Him that you worship
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: So eat of the lawful and good food which Allah hath provided for you, and thank the bounty of your Lord if it is Him ye serve
The Bee 16:35 Verb
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ أَشۡرَكُوا۟ لَوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا عَبَدۡنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَیۡءࣲ نَّحۡنُ وَلَاۤ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمۡنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَیۡءࣲۚ كَذَ ٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ فَهَلۡ عَلَى ٱلرُّسُلِ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَـٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝٣٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And those who associate others with Allah say, "If Allah had willed, we would not have worshipped anything other than Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything through other than Him." Thus did those do before them. So is there upon the messengers except [the duty of] clear notification
Abdel Haleem: Those who worshipped others alongside God say, ‘If God had willed, we would not have worshipped anything but Him, nor would our fathers. We would not have declared anything forbidden without His sanction.’ Those before them said the same. Are the messengers obliged to do anything other than deliver [their message] clearly
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And the idolaters say: Had Allah willed, we had not worshipped aught beside Him, we and our fathers, nor had we forbidden aught without (command from) Him. Even so did those before them. Are the messengers charged with aught save plain conveyance (of the message)
The Bee 16:36 Verb
وَلَقَدۡ بَعَثۡنَا فِی كُلِّ أُمَّةࣲ رَّسُولًا أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجۡتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَۖ فَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ وَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ حَقَّتۡ عَلَیۡهِ ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةُۚ فَسِیرُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَیۡفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ ۝٣٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allah and avoid Taghut." And among them were those whom Allah guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers
Abdel Haleem: We sent a messenger to every community, saying, ‘Worship God and shun false gods.’ Among them were some God guided; misguidance took hold of others. So travel through the earth and see what was the fate of those who denied the truth
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And verily We have raised in every nation a messenger, (proclaiming): Serve Allah and shun false gods. Then some of them (there were) whom Allah guided, and some of them (there were) upon whom error had just hold. Do but travel in the land and see the nature of the consequence for the deniers
The Bee 16:73 Verb
وَیَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَمۡلِكُ لَهُمۡ رِزۡقࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ ۝٧٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they worship besides Allah that which does not possess for them [the power of] provision from the heavens and the earth at all, and [in fact], they are unable
Abdel Haleem: Those they worship beside God have no power to provide anything for them from the heavens or the earth: they can do nothing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they worship beside Allah that which owneth no provision whatsoever for them from the heavens or the earth, nor have they (whom they worship) any power
Children of Israel, The Israelites 17:23 Verb
۞ وَقَضَىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَّاۤ إِیَّاهُ وَبِٱلۡوَ ٰلِدَیۡنِ إِحۡسَـٰنًاۚ إِمَّا یَبۡلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ ٱلۡكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَاۤ أَوۡ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُل لَّهُمَاۤ أُفࣲّ وَلَا تَنۡهَرۡهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوۡلࣰا كَرِیمࣰا ۝٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word
Abdel Haleem: Your Lord has commanded that you should worship none but Him, and that you be kind to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say no word that shows impatience with them, and do not be harsh with them, but speak to them respectfully
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Thy Lord hath decreed, that ye worship none save Him, and (that ye show) kindness to parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age with thee, say not "Fie" unto them nor repulse them, but speak unto them a gracious word
The Cave 18:16 Verb
وَإِذِ ٱعۡتَزَلۡتُمُوهُمۡ وَمَا یَعۡبُدُونَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ فَأۡوُۥۤا۟ إِلَى ٱلۡكَهۡفِ یَنشُرۡ لَكُمۡ رَبُّكُم مِّن رَّحۡمَتِهِۦ وَیُهَیِّئۡ لَكُم مِّنۡ أَمۡرِكُم مِّرۡفَقࣰا ۝١٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [The youths said to one another], "And when you have withdrawn from them and that which they worship other than Allah , retreat to the cave. Your Lord will spread out for you of His mercy and will prepare for you from your affair facility."
Abdel Haleem: Now that you have left such people, and what they worshipped instead of God, take refuge in the cave. God will shower His mercy on you and make you an easy way out of your ordeal.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when ye withdraw from them and that which they worship except Allah, then seek refuge in the Cave; your Lord will spread for you of His mercy and will prepare for you a pillow in your plight
Mary 19:36 Verb
وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّی وَرَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُوهُۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطࣱ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣱ ۝٣٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Jesus said], "And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path."
Abdel Haleem: ‘God is my Lord and your Lord, so serve Him: that is a straight path.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And lo! Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So serve Him. That is the right path
Mary 19:42 Verb
إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ یَـٰۤأَبَتِ لِمَ تَعۡبُدُ مَا لَا یَسۡمَعُ وَلَا یُبۡصِرُ وَلَا یُغۡنِی عَنكَ شَیۡءࣰا ۝٤٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all
Abdel Haleem: He said to his father, ‘Father, why do you worship something that can neither hear nor see nor benefit you in any way
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: When he said unto his father: O my father! Why worshippest thou that which heareth not nor seeth, nor can in aught avail thee
Mary 19:44 Verb
یَـٰۤأَبَتِ لَا تَعۡبُدِ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنَۖ إِنَّ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنَ كَانَ لِلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ عَصِیࣰّا ۝٤٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): O my father, do not worship Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient
Abdel Haleem: Father, do not worship Satan- Satan has rebelled against the Lord of Mercy
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: O my father! Serve not the devil. Lo! the devil is a rebel unto the Beneficent
Mary 19:49 Verb
فَلَمَّا ٱعۡتَزَلَهُمۡ وَمَا یَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥۤ إِسۡحَـٰقَ وَیَعۡقُوبَۖ وَكُلࣰّا جَعَلۡنَا نَبِیࣰّا ۝٤٩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah , We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet
Abdel Haleem: When he left his people and those they served beside God, We granted him Isaac and Jacob and made them both prophets
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: So, when he had withdrawn from them and that which they were worshipping beside Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob. Each of them We made a prophet
Mary 19:65 Verb
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَا فَٱعۡبُدۡهُ وَٱصۡطَبِرۡ لِعِبَـٰدَتِهِۦۚ هَلۡ تَعۡلَمُ لَهُۥ سَمِیࣰّا ۝٦٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them - so worship Him and have patience for His worship. Do you know of any similarity to Him?"
Abdel Haleem: He is Lord of the heavens and earth and everything in between so worship Him: be steadfast in worshipping Him. Do you know of anyone equal to Him?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them! Therefor, worship thou Him and be thou steadfast in His service. Knowest thou one that can be named along with Him
Ta Ha 20:14 Verb
إِنَّنِیۤ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّاۤ أَنَا۠ فَٱعۡبُدۡنِی وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ لِذِكۡرِیۤ ۝١٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, I am Allah . There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance
Abdel Haleem: I am God; there is no god but Me. So worship Me and keep up the prayer so that you remember Me
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! I, even I, am Allah, There is no Allah save Me. So serve Me and establish worship for My remembrance
The Prophets 21:25 Verb
وَمَاۤ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِیۤ إِلَیۡهِ أَنَّهُۥ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّاۤ أَنَا۠ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ ۝٢٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me."
Abdel Haleem: We never sent any messenger before you [Muhammad] without revealing to him: ‘There is no god but Me, so serve Me.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We sent no messenger before thee but We inspired him, (saying): There is no Allah save Me (Allah), so worship Me
The Prophets 21:66 Verb
قَالَ أَفَتَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَنفَعُكُمۡ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا یَضُرُّكُمۡ ۝٦٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you
Abdel Haleem: Abraham said, ‘How can you worship what can neither benefit nor harm you, instead of God
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you
The Prophets 21:67 Verb
أُفࣲّ لَّكُمۡ وَلِمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٦٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah . Then will you not use reason?"
Abdel Haleem: Shame on you and on the things you worship instead of God. Have you no sense?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense
The Prophets 21:92 Verb
إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦۤ أُمَّتُكُمۡ أُمَّةࣰ وَ ٰحِدَةࣰ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ ۝٩٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me
Abdel Haleem: [Messengers], this community of yours is one single community and I am your Lord, so serve Me
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me
The Prophets 21:98 Verb
إِنَّكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ حَصَبُ جَهَنَّمَ أَنتُمۡ لَهَا وَ ٰرِدُونَ ۝٩٨
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, you [disbelievers] and what you worship other than Allah are the firewood of Hell. You will be coming to [enter] it
Abdel Haleem: You [disbelievers] and what you worship instead of God will be fuel for Hell: that is where you will go
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! ye (idolaters) and that which ye worship beside Allah are fuel of hell. Thereunto ye will come
The Pilgrimage 22:11 Verb
وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن یَعۡبُدُ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ حَرۡفࣲۖ فَإِنۡ أَصَابَهُۥ خَیۡرٌ ٱطۡمَأَنَّ بِهِۦۖ وَإِنۡ أَصَابَتۡهُ فِتۡنَةٌ ٱنقَلَبَ عَلَىٰ وَجۡهِهِۦ خَسِرَ ٱلدُّنۡیَا وَٱلۡءَاخِرَةَۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡخُسۡرَانُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝١١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And of the people is he who worships Allah on an edge. If he is touched by good, he is reassured by it; but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to the other direction]. He has lost [this] world and the Hereafter. That is what is the manifest loss
Abdel Haleem: There are also some who serve God with unsteady faith: if something good comes their way, they are satisfied, but if they are tested, they revert to their old ways, losing both this world and the next- that is the clearest loss
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And among mankind is he who worshippeth Allah upon a narrow marge so that if good befalleth him he is content therewith, but if a trial befalleth him, he falleth away utterly. He loseth both the world and the Hereafter. That is the sheer loss
The Pilgrimage 22:71 Verb
وَیَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَمۡ یُنَزِّلۡ بِهِۦ سُلۡطَـٰنࣰا وَمَا لَیۡسَ لَهُم بِهِۦ عِلۡمࣱۗ وَمَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِینَ مِن نَّصِیرࣲ ۝٧١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they worship besides Allah that for which He has not sent down authority and that of which they have no knowledge. And there will not be for the wrongdoers any helper
Abdel Haleem: Yet beside God they serve that for which He has sent no authority and of which they have no knowledge: the evildoers will have no one to help them
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they worship instead of Allah that for which He hath sent down no warrant, and that whereof they have no knowledge. For evil-doers there is no helper
The Pilgrimage 22:77 Verb
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱرۡكَعُوا۟ وَ̅ٱ̅سۡ̅جُ̅دُ̅و̅ا۟̅ وَٱعۡبُدُوا۟ رَبَّكُمۡ وَٱفۡعَلُوا۟ ٱلۡخَیۡرَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُونَ ۝٧٧ ۩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): O you who have believed, bow and prostrate and worship your Lord and do good - that you may succeed
Abdel Haleem: Believers, bow down, prostrate yourselves, worship your Lord, and do good so that you may succeed
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: O ye who believe! Bow down and prostrate yourselves, and worship your Lord, and do good, that haply ye may prosper
The Believers 23:23 Verb
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ فَقَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۤۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝٢٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said, "O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?"
Abdel Haleem: We sent Noah to his people. He said, ‘My people, serve God, for He is your only god. Will you not heed Him?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We verily sent Noah unto his folk, and he said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)
The Believers 23:32 Verb
فَأَرۡسَلۡنَا فِیهِمۡ رَسُولࣰا مِّنۡهُمۡ أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۤۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝٣٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We sent among them a messenger from themselves, [saying], "Worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?"
Abdel Haleem: and sent one of their own as a messenger: ‘Serve God, for He is your only god. Will you not heed Him?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And we sent among them a messenger of their own, saying: Serve Allah, Ye have no other Allah save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)
The Light 24:55 Verb
وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنكُمۡ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَیَسۡتَخۡلِفَنَّهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَمَا ٱسۡتَخۡلَفَ ٱلَّذِینَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ وَلَیُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمۡ دِینَهُمُ ٱلَّذِی ٱرۡتَضَىٰ لَهُمۡ وَلَیُبَدِّلَنَّهُم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ خَوۡفِهِمۡ أَمۡنࣰاۚ یَعۡبُدُونَنِی لَا یُشۡرِكُونَ بِی شَیۡءࣰاۚ وَمَن كَفَرَ بَعۡدَ ذَ ٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ ۝٥٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Allah has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that - then those are the defiantly disobedient
Abdel Haleem: God has made a promise to those among you who believe and do good deeds: He will make them successors to the land, as He did those who came before them; He will empower the religion He has chosen for them; He will grant them security to replace their fear. ‘They will worship Me and not join anything with Me.’ Those who are defiant after that will be the rebels.
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Allah hath promised such of you as believe and do good work that He will surely make them to succeed (the present rulers) in the earth even as He caused those who were before them to succeed (others); and that He will surely establish for them their religion which He hath approved for them, and will give them in exchange safety after their fear. They serve Me. They ascribe no thing as partner unto Me. Those who disbelieve henceforth, they are the miscreants
The Criterion, The Standard 25:17 Verb
وَیَوۡمَ یَحۡشُرُهُمۡ وَمَا یَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَیَقُولُ ءَأَنتُمۡ أَضۡلَلۡتُمۡ عِبَادِی هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ أَمۡ هُمۡ ضَلُّوا۟ ٱلسَّبِیلَ ۝١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [mention] the Day He will gather them and that which they worship besides Allah and will say, "Did you mislead these, My servants, or did they [themselves] stray from the way?"
Abdel Haleem: On the Day He gathers them all together with those they worship beside Him, He will say, ‘Was it you [false gods] who led these creatures of Mine astray, or did they stray from the path by themselves?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And on the day when He will assemble them and that which they worship instead of Allah and will say: Was it ye who misled these my slaves or did they (themselves) wander from the way
The Criterion, The Standard 25:55 Verb
وَیَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا یَنفَعُهُمۡ وَلَا یَضُرُّهُمۡۗ وَكَانَ ٱلۡكَافِرُ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ ظَهِیرࣰا ۝٥٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But they worship rather than Allah that which does not benefit them or harm them, and the disbeliever is ever, against his Lord, an assistant [to Satan]
Abdel Haleem: Yet instead of God they worship things that can neither benefit nor harm them: the disbeliever has always turned his back on his Lord
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Yet they worship instead of Allah that which can neither benefit them nor hurt them. The disbeliever was ever a partisan against his Lord
The Poets 26:22 Verb
وَتِلۡكَ نِعۡمَةࣱ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَیَّ أَنۡ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ۝٢٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"
Abdel Haleem: And is this- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel- the favour with which you reproach me?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel
The Poets 26:70 Verb
إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٧٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"
Abdel Haleem: when he asked his father and his people, ‘What do you worship?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye
The Poets 26:71 Verb
قَالُوا۟ نَعۡبُدُ أَصۡنَامࣰا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِینَ ۝٧١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."
Abdel Haleem: They said, ‘We worship idols, and are constantly in attendance on them.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them
The Poets 26:75 Verb
قَالَ أَفَرَءَیۡتُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٧٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping
Abdel Haleem: Abraham said, ‘Those idols you have worshipped
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: See now that which ye worship
The Poets 26:92 Verb
وَقِیلَ لَهُمۡ أَیۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٩٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship
Abdel Haleem: it will be said to them, ‘Where are those you worshipped
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship
The Ant, The Ants 27:43 Verb
وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَت تَّعۡبُدُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهَا كَانَتۡ مِن قَوۡمࣲ كَـٰفِرِینَ ۝٤٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And that which she was worshipping other than Allah had averted her [from submission to Him]. Indeed, she was from a disbelieving people."
Abdel Haleem: she was prevented by what she worshipped instead of God, for she came from a disbelieving people.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And (all) that she was wont to worship instead of Allah hindered her, for she came of disbelieving folk
The Ant, The Ants 27:45 Verb
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمۡ صَـٰلِحًا أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَإِذَا هُمۡ فَرِیقَانِ یَخۡتَصِمُونَ ۝٤٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah ," and at once they were two parties conflicting
Abdel Haleem: To the people of Thamud We sent their brother, Salih, saying, ‘Worship God alone,’ but they split into two rival factions
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And We verily sent unto Thamud their brother Salih, saying: Worship Allah. And lo! they (then became two parties quarrelling
The Ant, The Ants 27:91 Verb
إِنَّمَاۤ أُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ رَبَّ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلۡبَلۡدَةِ ٱلَّذِی حَرَّمَهَا وَلَهُۥ كُلُّ شَیۡءࣲۖ وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِینَ ۝٩١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Say, O Muhammad], "I have only been commanded to worship the Lord of this city, who made it sacred and to whom [belongs] all things. And I am commanded to be of the Muslims [those who submit to Allah ]
Abdel Haleem: [Say Prophet], ‘What I am commanded to do is to serve the Sustainer of this town, which He has made inviolable. Everything belongs to Him; I am commanded to be one of those devoted to Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (Say): I (Muhammad) am commanded only to serve the Lord of this land which He hath hallowed, and unto Whom all things belong. And I am commanded to be of those who surrender (unto Him)
The Story, Stories, The Narrative 28:63 Verb
قَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ حَقَّ عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ رَبَّنَا هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ ٱلَّذِینَ أَغۡوَیۡنَاۤ أَغۡوَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ كَمَا غَوَیۡنَاۖ تَبَرَّأۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكَۖ مَا كَانُوۤا۟ إِیَّانَا یَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٦٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Those upon whom the word will have come into effect will say, "Our Lord, these are the ones we led to error. We led them to error just as we were in error. We declare our disassociation [from them] to You. They did not used to worship us."
Abdel Haleem: and those [ringleaders] against whom the verdict will be passed will say, ‘Our Lord, these are the ones we caused to deviate. We caused them to deviate as we ourselves deviated, but now we disown them before You: they did not really serve us.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Those concerning whom the Word will have come true will say: Our Lord! These are they whom we led astray. We led them astray even as we ourselves were astray. We declare our innocence before Thee: us they never worshipped
The Spider 29:16 Verb
وَإِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُۖ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ خَیۡرࣱ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ۝١٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [We sent] Abraham, when he said to his people, "Worship Allah and fear Him. That is best for you, if you should know
Abdel Haleem: We also sent Abraham. He said to his people, ‘Serve God and be mindful of Him: that is better for you, if only you knew
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And Abraham! (Remember) when he said unto his folk: Serve Allah, and keep your duty unto Him; that is better for you if ye did but know
The Spider 29:17 Verb
إِنَّمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوۡثَـٰنࣰا وَتَخۡلُقُونَ إِفۡكًاۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا یَمۡلِكُونَ لَكُمۡ رِزۡقࣰا فَٱبۡتَغُوا۟ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرِّزۡقَ وَٱعۡبُدُوهُ وَٱشۡكُرُوا۟ لَهُۥۤۖ إِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): You only worship, besides Allah , idols, and you produce a falsehood. Indeed, those you worship besides Allah do not possess for you [the power of] provision. So seek from Allah provision and worship Him and be grateful to Him. To Him you will be returned."
Abdel Haleem: What you worship instead of God are mere idols; what you invent is nothing but falsehood. Those you serve instead of God have no power to give you provisions, so seek provisions from God, serve Him, and give Him thanks: you will all be returned to Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Ye serve instead of Allah only idols, and ye only invent a lie. Lo! those whom ye serve instead of Allah own no provision for you. So seek your provision from Allah, and serve Him, and give thanks unto Him, (for) unto Him ye will be brought back
The Spider 29:36 Verb
وَإِلَىٰ مَدۡیَنَ أَخَاهُمۡ شُعَیۡبࣰا فَقَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱرۡجُوا۟ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ ٱلۡءَاخِرَ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِینَ ۝٣٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And to Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu'ayb, and he said, "O my people, worship Allah and expect the Last Day and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption."
Abdel Haleem: To the people of Midian We sent their brother Shuayb. He said, ‘My people, serve God and think ahead to the Last Day. Do not commit evil and spread corruption in the land.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And unto Midian We sent Shu'eyb, their brother. He said: O my people! Serve Allah, and look forward to the Last Day, and do not evil, making mischief, in the earth
The Spider 29:56 Verb
یَـٰعِبَادِیَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ إِنَّ أَرۡضِی وَ ٰسِعَةࣱ فَإِیَّـٰیَ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ ۝٥٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious, so worship only Me
Abdel Haleem: My believing servants! My earth is vast, so worship Me and Me alone
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: O my bondmen who believe! Lo! My earth is spacious. Therefor serve Me only
The Cow 2:133 Verb
أَمۡ كُنتُمۡ شُهَدَاۤءَ إِذۡ حَضَرَ یَعۡقُوبَ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ إِذۡ قَالَ لِبَنِیهِ مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِیۖ قَالُوا۟ نَعۡبُدُ إِلَـٰهَكَ وَإِلَـٰهَ ءَابَاۤىِٕكَ إِبۡرَ ٰهِـۧمَ وَإِسۡمَـٰعِیلَ وَإِسۡحَـٰقَ إِلَـٰهࣰا وَ ٰحِدࣰا وَنَحۡنُ لَهُۥ مُسۡلِمُونَ ۝١٣٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Or were you witnesses when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said, "We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac - one God. And we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."
Abdel Haleem: Were you [Jews] there to see when death came upon Jacob? When he said to his sons, ‘What will you worship after I am gone?’ they replied, ‘We shall worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham, Ishmael, and Isaac, one single God: we devote ourselves to Him.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Or were ye present when death came to Jacob, when he said unto his sons: What will ye worship after me? They said: We shall worship thy god, the god of thy fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac, One Allah, and unto Him we have surrendered
The Cow 2:172 Verb
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُلُوا۟ مِن طَیِّبَـٰتِ مَا رَزَقۡنَـٰكُمۡ وَٱشۡكُرُوا۟ لِلَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ إِیَّاهُ تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝١٧٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): O you who have believed, eat from the good things which We have provided for you and be grateful to Allah if it is [indeed] Him that you worship
Abdel Haleem: You who believe, eat the good things We have provided for you and be grateful to God, if it is Him that you worship
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: O ye who believe! Eat of the good things wherewith We have provided you, and render thanks to Allah if it is (indeed) He Whom ye worship
Saba, Sheba 34:40 Verb
وَیَوۡمَ یَحۡشُرُهُمۡ جَمِیعࣰا ثُمَّ یَقُولُ لِلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةِ أَهَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ إِیَّاكُمۡ كَانُوا۟ یَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٤٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [mention] the Day when He will gather them all and then say to the angels, "Did these [people] used to worship you?"
Abdel Haleem: On the Day He gathers them all together, He will say to the angels, ‘Was it you these people worshipped?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And on the day when He will gather them all together, He will say unto the angels: Did these worship you
Saba, Sheba 34:41 Verb
قَالُوا۟ سُبۡحَـٰنَكَ أَنتَ وَلِیُّنَا مِن دُونِهِمۖ بَلۡ كَانُوا۟ یَعۡبُدُونَ ٱلۡجِنَّۖ أَكۡثَرُهُم بِهِم مُّؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٤١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They will say, "Exalted are You! You, [O Allah ], are our benefactor not them. Rather, they used to worship the jinn; most of them were believers in them."
Abdel Haleem: They will reply, ‘May You be exalted! You are our supporter against them! Really, they worshipped the jinn- most of them believed in them.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They will say: Be Thou Glorified. Thou (alone) art our Guardian, not them! Nay, but they worshipped the jinn; most of them were believers in them
Saba, Sheba 34:43 Verb
وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِمۡ ءَایَـٰتُنَا بَیِّنَـٰتࣲ قَالُوا۟ مَا هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا رَجُلࣱ یُرِیدُ أَن یَصُدَّكُمۡ عَمَّا كَانَ یَعۡبُدُ ءَابَاۤؤُكُمۡ وَقَالُوا۟ مَا هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّاۤ إِفۡكࣱ مُّفۡتَرࣰىۚ وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاۤءَهُمۡ إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا سِحۡرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٤٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And when our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, they say, "This is not but a man who wishes to avert you from that which your fathers were worshipping." And they say, "This is not except a lie invented." And those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them, "This is not but obvious magic."
Abdel Haleem: When Our messages are recited to them, clear as they are, they say, ‘This is only a man who wants to turn you away from what your forefathers worshipped,’ and, ‘This [Quran] is nothing but lies he has made up.’ When the Truth comes to the disbelievers, they say, ‘This is just plain sorcery,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And if Our revelations are recited unto them in plain terms, they say: This is naught else than a man who would turn you away from what your fathers used to worship; and they say: This is naught else than an invented lie. Those who disbelieve say of the truth when it reacheth them: This is naught else than mere magic
Ya Sin, Ya-Seen 36:22 Verb
وَمَا لِیَ لَاۤ أَعۡبُدُ ٱلَّذِی فَطَرَنِی وَإِلَیۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ۝٢٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And why should I not worship He who created me and to whom you will be returned
Abdel Haleem: Why should I not worship the One who created me? It is to Him that you will be returned
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: For what cause should I not serve Him Who hath created me, and unto Whom ye will be brought back
Ya Sin, Ya-Seen 36:60 Verb
۞ أَلَمۡ أَعۡهَدۡ إِلَیۡكُمۡ یَـٰبَنِیۤ ءَادَمَ أَن لَّا تَعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنَۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمۡ عَدُوࣱّ مُّبِینࣱ ۝٦٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan - [for] indeed, he is to you a clear enemy
Abdel Haleem: Children of Adam, did I not command you not to serve Satan, for he was your sworn enemy
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Did I not charge you, O ye sons of Adam, that ye worship not the devil - Lo! he is your open foe!
Ya Sin, Ya-Seen 36:61 Verb
وَأَنِ ٱعۡبُدُونِیۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطࣱ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣱ ۝٦١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And that you worship [only] Me? This is a straight path
Abdel Haleem: but to serve Me? This is the straight path
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: But that ye worship Me? That was the right path
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:161 Verb
فَإِنَّكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝١٦١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship
Abdel Haleem: and neither you nor what you worshi
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:22 Verb
۞ ٱحۡشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزۡوَ ٰجَهُمۡ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٢٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worshi
Abdel Haleem: [Angels], gather together those who did wrong, and others like them, as well as whatever they worshippe
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worshi
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:85 Verb
إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٨٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship
Abdel Haleem: He said to his father and his people, ‘What are you worshipping
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship
Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn up in Ranks, The Rangers 37:95 Verb
قَالَ أَتَعۡبُدُونَ مَا تَنۡحِتُونَ ۝٩٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve
Abdel Haleem: but he said, ‘How can you worship things you carve with your own hands
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: He said: Worship ye that which ye yourselves do carv
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:11 Verb
قُلۡ إِنِّیۤ أُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصࣰا لَّهُ ٱلدِّینَ ۝١١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, I have been commanded to worship Allah , [being] sincere to Him in religion
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘I have been commanded to serve God, dedicating my worship entirely to Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say (O Muhammad): Lo! I am commanded to worship Allah, making religion pure for Him (only)
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:14 Verb
قُلِ ٱللَّهَ أَعۡبُدُ مُخۡلِصࣰا لَّهُۥ دِینِی ۝١٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, " Allah [alone] do I worship, sincere to Him in my religion
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘It is God I serve, dedicating my worship entirely to Him
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: Allah I worship, making my religion pure for Him (only)
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:15 Verb
فَٱعۡبُدُوا۟ مَا شِئۡتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦۗ قُلۡ إِنَّ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرِینَ ٱلَّذِینَ خَسِرُوۤا۟ أَنفُسَهُمۡ وَأَهۡلِیهِمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِۗ أَلَا ذَ ٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡخُسۡرَانُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ ۝١٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So worship what you will besides Him." Say, "Indeed, the losers are the ones who will lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, that is the manifest loss."
Abdel Haleem: you may serve whatever you please beside Him.’ Say, ‘The true losers are the ones who will lose themselves and their people on the Day of Resurrection: that is the most obvious loss
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Then worship what ye will beside Him. Say: The losers will be those who lose themselves and their housefolk on the Day of Resurrection. Ah, that will be the manifest loss
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:17 Verb
وَٱلَّذِینَ ٱجۡتَنَبُوا۟ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ أَن یَعۡبُدُوهَا وَأَنَابُوۤا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ لَهُمُ ٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰۚ فَبَشِّرۡ عِبَادِ ۝١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): But those who have avoided Taghut, lest they worship it, and turned back to Allah - for them are good tidings. So give good tidings to My servant
Abdel Haleem: There is good news for those who shun the worship of false gods and turn to God, so [Prophet] give good news to My servant
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And those who put away false gods lest they should worship them and turn to Allah in repentance, for them there are glad tidings. Therefor give good tidings (O Muhammad) to My bondme
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:2 Verb
إِنَّاۤ أَنزَلۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَٱعۡبُدِ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصࣰا لَّهُ ٱلدِّینَ ۝٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, We have sent down to you the Book, [O Muhammad], in truth. So worship Allah , [being] sincere to Him in religion
Abdel Haleem: It is We who sent down the Scripture to you [Prophet] with the Truth, so worship God with your total devotion
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! We have revealed the Scripture unto thee (Muhammad) with truth; so worship Allah, making religion pure for Him (only)
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:3 Verb
أَلَا لِلَّهِ ٱلدِّینُ ٱلۡخَالِصُۚ وَٱلَّذِینَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦۤ أَوۡلِیَاۤءَ مَا نَعۡبُدُهُمۡ إِلَّا لِیُقَرِّبُونَاۤ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ زُلۡفَىٰۤ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَحۡكُمُ بَیۡنَهُمۡ فِی مَا هُمۡ فِیهِ یَخۡتَلِفُونَۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یَهۡدِی مَنۡ هُوَ كَـٰذِبࣱ كَفَّارࣱ ۝٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Unquestionably, for Allah is the pure religion. And those who take protectors besides Him [say], "We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allah in position." Indeed, Allah will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, Allah does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever
Abdel Haleem: true devotion is due to God alone. [As for] those who choose other protectors beside Him, saying, ‘We only worship them because they bring us nearer to God,’ God Himself will judge between them regarding their differences. God does not guide any ungrateful liar
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Surely pure religion is for Allah only. And those who choose protecting friends beside Him (say): We worship them only that they may bring us near unto Allah. Lo! Allah will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Lo! Allah guideth not him who is a liar, an ingrate
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:64 Verb
قُلۡ أَفَغَیۡرَ ٱللَّهِ تَأۡمُرُوۤنِّیۤ أَعۡبُدُ أَیُّهَا ٱلۡجَـٰهِلُونَ ۝٦٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, [O Muhammad], "Is it other than Allah that you order me to worship, O ignorant ones?"
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘Do you order me to worship someone other than God, you foolish people?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say (O Muhammad, to the disbelievers): Do ye bid me serve other than Allah? O ye fools
The Troops, Throngs, The Companies 39:66 Verb
بَلِ ٱللَّهَ فَٱعۡبُدۡ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِینَ ۝٦٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Rather, worship [only] Allah and be among the grateful
Abdel Haleem: No! Worship God alone and be one of those who are grateful to Him.’

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّی وَرَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُوهُۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطࣱ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣱ ۝٥١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is the straight path."
Abdel Haleem: God is my Lord and your Lord, so serve Him- that is a straight path.”’

The Family of Imran, The House of Imran 3:64 Verb
قُلۡ یَـٰۤأَهۡلَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ تَعَالَوۡا۟ إِلَىٰ كَلِمَةࣲ سَوَاۤءِۭ بَیۡنَنَا وَبَیۡنَكُمۡ أَلَّا نَعۡبُدَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ وَلَا نُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦ شَیۡءࣰا وَلَا یَتَّخِذَ بَعۡضُنَا بَعۡضًا أَرۡبَابࣰا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۚ فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡا۟ فَقُولُوا۟ ٱشۡهَدُوا۟ بِأَنَّا مُسۡلِمُونَ ۝٦٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah ." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘People of the Book, let us arrive at a statement that is common to us all: we worship God alone, we ascribe no partner to Him, and none of us takes others beside God as lords.’ If they turn away, say, ‘Witness our devotion to Him.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to an agreement between us and you: that we shall worship none but Allah, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords beside Allah. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered (unto Him)
The Forgiver, The Forgiving One 40:66 Verb
۞ قُلۡ إِنِّی نُهِیتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ ٱلَّذِینَ تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَمَّا جَاۤءَنِیَ ٱلۡبَیِّنَـٰتُ مِن رَّبِّی وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أُسۡلِمَ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ ۝٦٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, I have been forbidden to worship those you call upon besides Allah once the clear proofs have come to me from my Lord, and I have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the worlds."
Abdel Haleem: Say [Prophet], ‘Since clear evidence has come to me from my Lord I am forbidden to serve those you call upon besides God: I am commanded to submit to the Lord of the Worlds.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say (O Muhammad): I am forbidden to worship those unto whom ye cry beside Allah since there have come unto me clear proofs from my Lord, and I am commanded to surrender to the Lord of the Worlds

إِذۡ جَاۤءَتۡهُمُ ٱلرُّسُلُ مِنۢ بَیۡنِ أَیۡدِیهِمۡ وَمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِمۡ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَۖ قَالُوا۟ لَوۡ شَاۤءَ رَبُّنَا لَأَنزَلَ مَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةࣰ فَإِنَّا بِمَاۤ أُرۡسِلۡتُم بِهِۦ كَـٰفِرُونَ ۝١٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [That occurred] when the messengers had come to them before them and after them, [saying], "Worship not except Allah ." They said, "If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down the angels, so indeed we, in that with which you have been sent, are disbelievers."
Abdel Haleem: when their messengers came to them, from all angles, saying, “Serve no one but God,” they said, “If our Lord had wished, He would have sent down angels. We do not believe in the message with which you have been sent.”
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: When their messengers came unto them from before them and behind them, saying: Worship none but Allah! they said: If our Lord had willed, He surely would have sent down angels (unto us), so lo! we are disbelievers in that wherewith ye have been sent

وَمِنۡ ءَایَـٰتِهِ ٱلَّیۡلُ وَٱلنَّهَارُ وَٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُۚ لَا تَسۡجُدُوا۟ لِلشَّمۡسِ وَلَا لِلۡقَمَرِ وَ̅ٱ̅سۡ̅جُ̅دُ̅و̅ا۟̅ ̅لِ̅لَّ̅هِ̅ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَهُنَّ إِن كُنتُمۡ إِیَّاهُ تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٣٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And of His signs are the night and day and the sun and moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostate to Allah , who created them, if it should be Him that you worship
Abdel Haleem: The night, the day, the sun, the moon, are only a few of His signs. Do not bow down in worship to the sun or the moon, but bow down to God who created them, if it is truly Him that you worship
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And of His portents are the night and the day and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or the moon; but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if it is in truth Him Whom ye worship
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:20 Verb
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوۡ شَاۤءَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ مَا عَبَدۡنَـٰهُمۗ مَّا لَهُم بِذَ ٰلِكَ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍۖ إِنۡ هُمۡ إِلَّا یَخۡرُصُونَ ۝٢٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they said, "If the Most Merciful had willed, we would not have worshipped them." They have of that no knowledge. They are not but falsifying
Abdel Haleem: They say, ‘If the Lord of Mercy had willed it, we would not have worshipped them,’ but they do not know that- they are only guessing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they say: If the Beneficent One had (so) willed, we should not have worshipped them. They have no knowledge whatsoever of that. They do but guess
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:26 Verb
وَإِذۡ قَالَ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمُ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦۤ إِنَّنِی بَرَاۤءࣱ مِّمَّا تَعۡبُدُونَ ۝٢٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said to his father and his people, "Indeed, I am disassociated from that which you worshi
Abdel Haleem: Abraham said to his father and his people, ‘I renounce what you worship
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And when Abraham said unto his father and his folk: Lo! I am innocent of what ye worshi
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:45 Verb
وَسۡءَلۡ مَنۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ مِن رُّسُلِنَاۤ أَجَعَلۡنَا مِن دُونِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ءَالِهَةࣰ یُعۡبَدُونَ ۝٤٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And ask those We sent before you of Our messengers; have We made besides the Most Merciful deities to be worshipped
Abdel Haleem: Ask the prophets We sent before you: ‘Did We ever appoint any gods to be worshipped besides the Lord of Mercy?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And ask those of Our messengers whom We sent before thee: Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped beside the Beneficent
Ornaments of Gold, Luxury, The Embellishment 43:64 Verb
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ رَبِّی وَرَبُّكُمۡ فَٱعۡبُدُوهُۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰطࣱ مُّسۡتَقِیمࣱ ۝٦٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path."
Abdel Haleem: God is my Lord and your Lord. Serve Him: this is the straight path.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Lo! Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. This is a right path
The Wind-curved Sandhills, The Dunes, The Sandhills 46:21 Verb
۞ وَٱذۡكُرۡ أَخَا عَادٍ إِذۡ أَنذَرَ قَوۡمَهُۥ بِٱلۡأَحۡقَافِ وَقَدۡ خَلَتِ ٱلنُّذُرُ مِنۢ بَیۡنِ یَدَیۡهِ وَمِنۡ خَلۡفِهِۦۤ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ ۝٢١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And mention, [O Muhammad], the brother of 'Aad, when he warned his people in the [region of] al-Ahqaf - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not worship except Allah . Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."
Abdel Haleem: Mention [Hud] of the tribe of Ad: he warned his people among the sand dunes- other warners have come and gone both before and after him- ‘ Worship no one but God: I fear for you, that you will be punished on a terrible Day,’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And make mention (O Muhammad) of the brother of A'ad when he warned his folk among the wind-curved sandhills - and verily warners came and went before and after him - saying: Serve none but Allah. Lo! I fear for you the doom of a tremendous Day
The Winnowing Winds, The Scatterers 51:56 Verb
وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِیَعۡبُدُونِ ۝٥٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me
Abdel Haleem: I created jinn and mankind only to worship Me
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: I created the jinn and humankind only that they might worship Me
The Star 53:62 Verb
فَ̅ٱ̅سۡ̅جُ̅دُ̅و̅ا۟̅ لِلَّهِ وَٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ۝٦٢ ۩
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]
Abdel Haleem: Bow down before God and worship
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him
The Table, The Table Spread 5:117 Verb
مَا قُلۡتُ لَهُمۡ إِلَّا مَاۤ أَمَرۡتَنِی بِهِۦۤ أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّی وَرَبَّكُمۡۚ وَكُنتُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ شَهِیدࣰا مَّا دُمۡتُ فِیهِمۡۖ فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّیۡتَنِی كُنتَ أَنتَ ٱلرَّقِیبَ عَلَیۡهِمۡۚ وَأَنتَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ شَهِیدٌ ۝١١٧
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): I said not to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness
Abdel Haleem: I told them only what You commanded me to: “Worship God, my Lord and your Lord.” I was a witness over them during my time among them. Ever since You took my soul, You alone have been the watcher over them: You are witness to all thing
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: I spake unto them only that which Thou commandedst me, (saying): Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. I was a witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when Thou tookest me Thou wast the Watcher over them. Thou art Witness over all things
The Table, The Table Spread 5:60 Verb
قُلۡ هَلۡ أُنَبِّئُكُم بِشَرࣲّ مِّن ذَ ٰلِكَ مَثُوبَةً عِندَ ٱللَّهِۚ مَن لَّعَنَهُ ٱللَّهُ وَغَضِبَ عَلَیۡهِ وَجَعَلَ مِنۡهُمُ ٱلۡقِرَدَةَ وَٱلۡخَنَازِیرَ وَعَبَدَ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ شَرࣱّ مَّكَانࣰا وَأَضَلُّ عَن سَوَاۤءِ ٱلسَّبِیلِ ۝٦٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "Shall I inform you of [what is] worse than that as penalty from Allah ? [It is that of] those whom Allah has cursed and with whom He became angry and made of them apes and pigs and slaves of Taghut. Those are worse in position and further astray from the sound way."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘Shall I tell you who deserves a worse punishment from God than [the one you wish upon] us? Those God distanced from Himself, was angry with, and condemned as apes and pigs, and those who worship idols: they are worse in rank and have strayed further from the right path
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Shall I tell thee of a worse (case) than theirs for retribution with Allah? (Worse is the case of him) whom Allah hath cursed, him on whom His wrath hath fallen and of whose sort Allah hath turned some to apes and swine, and who serveth idols. Such are in worse plight and further astray from the plain road
The Table, The Table Spread 5:72 Verb
لَقَدۡ كَفَرَ ٱلَّذِینَ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡمَسِیحُ ٱبۡنُ مَرۡیَمَۖ وَقَالَ ٱلۡمَسِیحُ یَـٰبَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّی وَرَبَّكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُۥ مَن یُشۡرِكۡ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدۡ حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیۡهِ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ وَمَأۡوَىٰهُ ٱلنَّارُۖ وَمَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِینَ مِنۡ أَنصَارࣲ ۝٧٢
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They have certainly disbelieved who say, " Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary" while the Messiah has said, "O Children of Israel, worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord." Indeed, he who associates others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers
Abdel Haleem: Those who say, ‘God is the Messiah, son of Mary,’ have defied God. The Messiah himself said, ‘Children of Israel, worship God, my Lord and your Lord.’ If anyone associates others with God, God will forbid him from the Garden, and Hell will be his home. No one will help such evildoers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They surely disbelieve who say: Lo! Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. The Messiah (himself) said: O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. Lo! whoso ascribeth partners unto Allah, for him Allah hath forbidden paradise. His abode is the Fire. For evil-doers there will be no helpers
She That is to be Examined, Examining her, She Who is Tested 60:4 Verb
قَدۡ كَانَتۡ لَكُمۡ أُسۡوَةٌ حَسَنَةࣱ فِیۤ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ وَٱلَّذِینَ مَعَهُۥۤ إِذۡ قَالُوا۟ لِقَوۡمِهِمۡ إِنَّا بُرَءَ ٰۤؤُا۟ مِنكُمۡ وَمِمَّا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَفَرۡنَا بِكُمۡ وَبَدَا بَیۡنَنَا وَبَیۡنَكُمُ ٱلۡعَدَ ٰوَةُ وَٱلۡبَغۡضَاۤءُ أَبَدًا حَتَّىٰ تُؤۡمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَحۡدَهُۥۤ إِلَّا قَوۡلَ إِبۡرَ ٰهِیمَ لِأَبِیهِ لَأَسۡتَغۡفِرَنَّ لَكَ وَمَاۤ أَمۡلِكُ لَكَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَیۡءࣲۖ رَّبَّنَا عَلَیۡكَ تَوَكَّلۡنَا وَإِلَیۡكَ أَنَبۡنَا وَإِلَیۡكَ ٱلۡمَصِیرُ ۝٤
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): There has already been for you an excellent pattern in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, "Indeed, we are disassociated from you and from whatever you worship other than Allah . We have denied you, and there has appeared between us and you animosity and hatred forever until you believe in Allah alone" except for the saying of Abraham to his father, "I will surely ask forgiveness for you, but I have not [power to do] for you anything against Allah . Our Lord, upon You we have relied, and to You we have returned, and to You is the destination
Abdel Haleem: You have a good example in Abraham and his companions, when they said to their people, ‘We disown you and what you worship besides God! We renounce you! Until you believe in God alone, the enmity and hatred that has arisen between us will endure!’––except when Abraham said to his father, ‘I will pray for forgiveness for you though I cannot protect you from God’––[they prayed]
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: There is a goodly pattern for you in Abraham and those with him, when they told their folk: Lo! we are guiltless of you and all that ye worship beside Allah. We have done with you. And there hath arisen between us and you hostility and hate for ever until ye believe in Allah only - save that which Abraham promised his father (when he said): I will ask forgiveness for thee, though I own nothing for thee from Allah - Our Lord! In Thee we put our trust, and unto Thee we turn repentant, and unto Thee is the journeying
Cattle, Livestock 6:56 Verb
قُلۡ إِنِّی نُهِیتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ ٱلَّذِینَ تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۚ قُل لَّاۤ أَتَّبِعُ أَهۡوَاۤءَكُمۡ قَدۡ ضَلَلۡتُ إِذࣰا وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلۡمُهۡتَدِینَ ۝٥٦
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): Say, "Indeed, I have been forbidden to worship those you invoke besides Allah ." Say, "I will not follow your desires, for I would then have gone astray, and I would not be of the [rightly] guided."
Abdel Haleem: Say, ‘I am forbidden to worship those you call on other than God.’ Say, ‘I will not follow your vain desires, for if I did, I would stray from the path and cease to be rightly guided.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: Say: I am forbidden to worship those on whom ye call instead of Allah. Say: I will not follow your desires, for then should I go astray and I should not be of the rightly guided
Noah 71:3 Verb
أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِیعُونِ ۝٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): [Saying], 'Worship Allah , fear Him and obey me
Abdel Haleem: Serve God, be mindful of Him and obey me
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: (Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:65 Verb
۞ وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمۡ هُودࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۤۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ۝٦٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And to the 'Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, "O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him. Then will you not fear Him?"
Abdel Haleem: To the people of 'Ad We sent their brother, Hud. He said, ‘My people, serve God: you have no god other than Him. Will you not take heed?’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And unto (the tribe of) A'ad (We sent) their brother, Hud. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:70 Verb
قَالُوۤا۟ أَجِئۡتَنَا لِنَعۡبُدَ ٱللَّهَ وَحۡدَهُۥ وَنَذَرَ مَا كَانَ یَعۡبُدُ ءَابَاۤؤُنَا فَأۡتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَاۤ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ ۝٧٠
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They said, "Have you come to us that we should worship Allah alone and leave what our fathers have worshipped? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful."
Abdel Haleem: They said, ‘Have you really come to tell us to serve God alone and to forsake what our forefathers served? If what you say is true, bring us the punishment you threaten.’
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They said: Hast come unto us that we should serve Allah alone, and forsake what our fathers worshipped? Then bring upon us that wherewith thou threatenest us if thou art of the truthful
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:73 Verb
وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمۡ صَـٰلِحࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۖ قَدۡ جَاۤءَتۡكُم بَیِّنَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡۖ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةُ ٱللَّهِ لَكُمۡ ءَایَةࣰۖ فَذَرُوهَا تَأۡكُلۡ فِیۤ أَرۡضِ ٱللَّهِۖ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوۤءࣲ فَیَأۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ ۝٧٣
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And to the Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. This is the she-camel of Allah [sent] to you as a sign. So leave her to eat within Allah 's land and do not touch her with harm, lest there seize you a painful punishment
Abdel Haleem: To the people of Thamud We sent their brother, Salih. He said, ‘My people, serve God: you have no god other than Him. A clear sign has come to you now from your Lord: this is God’s she-camel- a sign for you- so let her graze in God’s land and do not harm her in any way, or you will be struck by a painful torment
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And to (the tribe of) Thamud (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. A wonder from your Lord hath come unto you. Lo! this is the camel of Allah, a token unto you; so let her feed in Allah's earth, and touch her not with hurt lest painful torment seize you
The Heights, The Elevated Places 7:85 Verb
وَإِلَىٰ مَدۡیَنَ أَخَاهُمۡ شُعَیۡبࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۖ قَدۡ جَاۤءَتۡكُم بَیِّنَةࣱ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡۖ فَأَوۡفُوا۟ ٱلۡكَیۡلَ وَٱلۡمِیزَانَ وَلَا تَبۡخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشۡیَاۤءَهُمۡ وَلَا تُفۡسِدُوا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بَعۡدَ إِصۡلَـٰحِهَاۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ خَیۡرࣱ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ ۝٨٥
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And to [the people of] Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu'ayb. He said, "O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. So fulfill the measure and weight and do not deprive people of their due and cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. That is better for you, if you should be believers
Abdel Haleem: To the people of Midian We sent their brother, Shuayb. He said, ‘My people, serve God: you have no god other than Him. A clear sign has come to you from your Lord. Give full measure and weight and do not undervalue people’s goods; do not cause corruption in the land after it has been set in order: this is better for you, if you are believers
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And unto Midian (We sent) their brother, Shu'eyb. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. Lo! a clear proof hath come unto you from your Lord; so give full measure and full weight and wrong not mankind in their goods, and work not confusion in the earth after the fair ordering thereof. That will be better for you, if ye are believers
The Clear Proof, Evidence, The Proof 98:5 Verb
وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): And they were not commanded except to worship Allah , [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion
Abdel Haleem: though all they are ordered to do is worship God alone, sincerely devoting their religion to Him as people of true faith, keep up the prayer, and pay the prescribed alms, for that is the true religion
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: And they are ordered naught else than to serve Allah, keeping religion pure for Him, as men by nature upright, and to establish worship and to pay the poor-due. That is true religion
Repentance 9:31 Verb
ٱتَّخَذُوۤا۟ أَحۡبَارَهُمۡ وَرُهۡبَـٰنَهُمۡ أَرۡبَابࣰا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡمَسِیحَ ٱبۡنَ مَرۡیَمَ وَمَاۤ أُمِرُوۤا۟ إِلَّا لِیَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَـٰهࣰا وَ ٰحِدࣰاۖ لَّاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَهُۥ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٣١
Umm Muhammad (Sahih International): They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah , and [also] the Messiah, the son of Mary. And they were not commanded except to worship one God; there is no deity except Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him
Abdel Haleem: They take their rabbis and their monks as lords, as well as Christ, the son of Mary. But they were commanded to serve only one God: there is no god but Him; He is far above whatever they set up as His partners
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall: They have taken as lords beside Allah their rabbis and their monks and the Messiah son of Mary, when they were bidden to worship only One Allah. There is no Allah save Him. Be He Glorified from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)
